You certainly nailed it when talking about moving tides. I've seen catfish and perch shut down on a slack tide. You might as well reel in your lines, and take a nap till it starts moving again. Have you ever caught a bowfin on the Eastern Shore? I've never seen one but, then again, I've never targeted them.
My man great video, I have been a bass fisherman all my life and I am 45 I live in Perryman right back in pintail point so a stones throw away and have been quite intrigued by the snakehead although never fished for them (yet) the bush bush has always been a tricky river for me I either slay them or nothing it seems , ny neighbor link me to your video Thanks great informational videos thanks
Thanks much Brent! Short answer is yes, they’re definitely there. I honestly made a mistake with this video by posting the name of the location at first. I try not to blow places up and bring too much pressure on them, but didn’t consider it with this video. If you don’t mind, could you edit your comment to remove the specific info on the location? If you have any other questions on targeting snakehead just let me know 👍 I have a bunch of videos and seminar sessions posted on the species.
Kambotrout Fishing Yes absolutely my friend and I made the mistake by putting that in there as well hopefully we catch it in time before too many people see it LOL I appreciate the prompt reply now like on your other video on the snake head about the outgoing tide sitting at the mouth of the little fingers that was great to know and when you say outgoing tide is there a specific time of the outgoing tide that is better than others I always seem to have better luck in the bush river on an incoming tide as far as bass fishing goes now of course this is from land or up pier
Great video. Do you always use a trailer with chatter baits? Glad to know outgoing tides are best. I was told to go at low tide because it means the snakeheads are pulled out of the reeds, but every time I do, I don't see any baitfish moving.
Thanks Bob. I usually use a trailer with chatterbaits, but they’ve worked for me with and without. If they’re short striking, I’ll take the trailer off. The best tide depends on the body of water. If there are lots of reeds and heavy shoreline vegetation, I prefer an outgoing and low tide because during high tides, the fish will often be way up into the reeds and largely inaccessible. There are some waters where I prefer a high tide, usually where the hydrilla is very thick and becomes locked up on a low tide. One example would be Mattawoman creek. I don’t always chase baitfish to find snakehead. Instead, I usually find the structure and then target ambush points.
@@KambotroutFishing Thanks for the tips! Going to pick up some plastics for trailers. I've mostly tried the creeks/tributaries up near Essex and Middle River so far. No luck yet, but I'm working at it. Want to get a third rod set up so I can always have a frog, chatterbait, and some sort of Mepps or alternate spinner or jig at the ready.
I usually don’t give exact locations. This is a river on the eastern shore of MD, Dorchester county. I’ve also made a video on the tools I use to find spots like these (link below). Good luck 🎣 th-cam.com/video/FURLAhX_I6c/w-d-xo.html
Sorry brother, but I have a policy where I don’t reveal launch points by name on small waters. I’ve seen too many times where the areas become overrun, trashed, and overpressured, and I want to run my channel responsibly. With that said, here’s a link to all the public launch points in MD. There’s a very limited number of them in the Dorchester County/Blackwater area. If you use this tool, you’ll find it. Good luck and thanks for watching! dnr.maryland.gov/boating/pages/water-access/boatramps.aspx
Hey Tomas. I’d head to a local crabbing supply shop and grab some floats there. Use one that’s bigger than what you’ve seen in most of my videos. Ask me why I say that 😏
Once again fire edits! Ppl who don't make there own vids don't realize what this entails lol great stuff man! Can't believe you were discouraged after "only catching 4" lmao! Bro I would have been having a party at 2! Can't wait to get back out! Great stuff!
Hey I’m having a problem catching snakehead recently. I fish off a dock on a creek and I can always see several snakehead at the surface. I cast my frog at them and the snakeheads just sit and stare at it or don’t bite it. About 10% of the time when I put a frog in front of there face they will bite it. Is there anything I can do about this or anything I need to know?
SkunkMaster Fishing thanks much bro 👊 I learned a lot on the water this day, and even more once I was off the water and reflected on my experience lol.
Those are rod buoys to keep my rods afloat if I drop them in the water (which I’ve certainly done 😜) I use the tape to keep the buoys from moving up the rod 👍 www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-rod-buoy
I usually fish the eastern shore of Maryland in Dorchester county, but they’re also catching good numbers of snakehead in the gunpowder, bush river, patuxent, and many others “west side” waters.
Dude! Another great instructional video! You have to create a guided training course that we can $$$ you for.

I’ve never seen any Bowfin over there, but I know they’re around, especially in the Delware waters.
Thanks for the great video. The production quality is top notch!

Chris Whiteman thanks much and yes it was 👍
@@KambotroutFishing Sorry, I meant the brand/size. I've been looking for smaller hollow body topwater lures and that mouse looks real good! Thanks!
So. for staters / what do you recommend for a good rod & reel for snakeheads ?
Do you prefer spinning or baitcasting?
