    Froggy I finally had to change out my fresh air recirculation actuator under top dash like your vid. Had epiphany to use small square (1/4 inch), thin, piece of cardboard like holds screws in electrical outlets, switches. This way screw already installed in actuator and no panic to drop screws. Also first tried using blue painters tape however not strong/rigid enough to stay attached. Used 90 degree angle screw/nut driver Right Angle Drill Adapter (Amazon) which helped however had to us liquid gasket maker to glue socket adapter to stay in device. Then used blue tape to hold angle until ready to twist screw. Major patience needed. Thank you for your detailed vid as it really helped!

    Awesome helpful video! Thank you Froggy.
    Was working on my 2002 Chevy 2500hd duramax.
    Watch out for the sharp metal edges, I filled off the sharp edge after the first slice. Used some sticky duct seal to hold the screw for that back one.
    In addition I did cut the duct as recommended from another video.
    4.5 hours from start to finish and cost $30 for the part, and yes the plastic wheel was cracked in 2 places.

    Thank you for posting this. Been dealing with snow storm after snow storm and today we couldn't turn on the defroster. After watching your video I was able to turn the actuator with a washer and it shifted to defrost. Replacement will happen at a later date when it's a little warmer.

    Thank you Froggy! You just saved me a lot of time by explaining the difference between the blend and mode actuators. I will now enjoy replacing just the mode actuator this weekend instead of ripping apart the wrong area of my Suburban.

    Froggy, great video! I have a 2005 Suburban that is blowing cold air when the heat is on. I was told by the dealership that there are 3 actuators in the dash, I'm assuming they fit the description you gave for your 2002. I have checked the mode, and recirculation ones, all work, so the hot and cold one seems to be the problem. Thanks for the good information. Lewis

    You are the only fellow that shows how to remove stuff. I wish that you had to replace the mode actuator instead of that nasty re-circulation motor. The mode door has some tabs that must be carefully removed and NOBODY shows how that comes apart. They all just show it after the fact. It was interesting to see how to dismantle the dash however.

    Hi, quick question. I have 02 Chevy Tahoe, my ac stopped blowing cold in the front and still blows cold in the back but only if I leave the front on low the back continues to blow cold air... but I wasted so much money on buying Freon it don’t make sense to me what’s going on. I also had the problem with the deal up under the dash on the driver side it wasn’t moving and was stuck on defrost so my friend turned it to dash so I could have the air blow on me instead of the window anyway can anyone help it’s hot as hell out here in Houston lol I replaced the compressor and ac tensioner pulley already I was told that I may need to change an orfice tube in the line😞

    The AC nor Heat blows thru my dashboard vents, but it blows from the vents near my windshield. I believe that i need to change the MODE ACTUATOR on my 2002 Suburban. Do I find this on the Driver side near the accelerator, or passenger side where my right foot would be, or do I remove the glovebox? Help! I have no AC and due to the cicadas, I can't drive with windows down!!!

    • @lindseywagner7510

      It's the white thing right above the actuator mode. You will see it slide up and down when u start car and immediately put on cold air. U can stop it from sliding back down so it dont close. But if u take the HVAC fuse under hood out for 4 min and the ones in the car and make sure it's on auto when u shut the car off and do this. It should recalibrate everything. Mine started when my battery ran out of juice from leaving the interior lights on.

    I have a 2004 chevy suburban with dual HVAC and automatic HVAC. It has been making a ticking/knocking sound for awhile and my air will be hot sometimes. I assume it would be the one under the dash? Are there others that would control the heat/air in a suburban with dual controls?

    • @1947froggy
      @1947froggy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, they are all (the servos) under the dash. I am not sure (sorry) how much difference there is with the dual control. The "automatic" part should not make a difference as I believe that would just be a sensor and a circuit board that would control the hot/cold servo.

      I have a 2003 Chevy Avalanche. Mine has 4 there's the mode actuator which is on the driver side as seen in the video and there's two in the dash kind of by the air bag and there's another by the glove compartment. You would have to take that bottom cover off to get to it.

    I can not get my mode door working. mode doors manually work by hand AND the actuator turns both directions when plugged in but putting the actuator on the mode doors causes disalignment problems. The actuator over extends or jams or whatever. Again the mode doors themselves can be turned freely by hand so they are not the problem. The problem is getting the actuator lined up properly with the mode doors so that front on the switch is front vents, feet on switch is actually feet, DEF is actually DEF ect....

    • @1947froggy
      @1947froggy  ปีที่แล้ว

      There may be a "base" position for the door an actuator arm, when you install & I don't know, but try "trial & error". :)

    • @MJM750
      @MJM750 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@1947froggy Interesting. Yeah, I think the actuator may be broken bc it only spins in one direction (towards Defrost), and when it hits the internal stop, it keeps spinning and clicking. So once I get more money, I will buy another and try it. But for now, I figured out how to reach it while I'm driving to push one way, and gonna try tying a string to it to pull it the other way. Lol.
