There is also a feature to save your self timer setting. So if you have the 2 second timer on and turn off the camera, it will still be on 2 second timer when you turn the camera back on. A great feature for landscape photography.

I’m so sorry for the delay in seeing this… I get so behind lately in managing my YT account and am trying to get help. Thank you so much for supporting the channel!! I really appreciate it!! Cheers! 🙏 👍
Another thing that I noticed while playing with the X-T5 for the first time, they got a new deflicker function where you can change the shutter speed to 1/106.5 for exazjust like with the Canon R5 cameras. That works with photo and video under certain lights really well. Hope more people get to know that function! Good for video and electronic shutter!
Having switched from 5D I gotta say - I really appreciate your channel and navigating us through these settings. This camera packs so much stuff and sometimes I'm not even aware of the settings it has hidden among the crapton of menus. Sure there's the manual but YT is so much better :) Thanks man!
Here’s another tip. The X-T5 has a digital teleconverter menu option giving you access to 1.4 or 2 x magnification. This is a crop, of course, and one without the interpolation of the X100V. So the 1.4X gives you an image of about 29Mp and the 2X brings your image down to about 20Mp. But 29Mp is still a lot higher than the previous sensor and even 20Mp is ok for many purposes. I’ve assigned the teleconverter to a function key. This means that if I’m using, say, the 35mm F2 to view a scene at full size (40Mp) and I then press the function button once, then “Boom” (as Chris would say): my lens is now effectively a 50mm F2 and I’m seeing a zoomed in (cropped) image of 30Mp. A 56mm f1.2 becomes almost a 90mm f1.2 with the same teleconversion - and still at 30Mp. If I click the function button twice I get the 2x teleconversion. You can achieve the same thing by cropping in post, naturally, but this function gives (IMHO) some real compositional advantages. It also means you can carry smaller FL lenses than you might otherwise use - as long as you’re happy with the 30Mp resolution. I think this is quite a cool function, but one which gets little mention in the reviews.
If you calculate the resolutions (5472x3648 and 3888x2592 respectively) It's actually about 20MP for the 1.4X and 10MP for 2X. You need to reduce it in two dimensions which is different than just dividing 40MP by 1.4 or 2. It still makes for a decent sized file/resolution at 1.4X and if you're not doing print and just posting online then the 10MP for 2X is useful as well.
@@JoelWolfsonPhoto Thanks for that clarification, but it’s a shame the resolution is so much lower than I thought. Still, it keeps those file sizes down!
@@bulimbajon You're welcome and I agree it would be nice to have a bit more resolution but I still think the 1.4X is useful. Also it was good of you to point this out as I am sure it will be or has been useful to many folks.

Hello Chris. Thank you again for your time. Since I don't use the Q menus, this make the "Q" key available for a shortcut, just like the "view mode" button.
Another tip in relation to #4 (focus point wrapping), if you've left the focus point way over to one side, & want to quickly centre it, just double-click on the focus stick. Especially useful if you're using all of the focus points. (PS, this is from my X-T2, but I assume it works on all models with a focus stick).
interesting! on my X-S10 that does nothing. what I do instead is the slightly more cumbersome: press stick, back button, press stick (maybe this also depends on the stick primary/secondary function that you can set as well)
Doesn’t appear to work on the new xt-5 …you have to press the ‘back’ button while the focus area is highlighted in green….unless someone knows differently?..
@@ritterkeks Sorry, I guess it varies from model to model. I checked the manual for the X100F, & it centres with a (presumably single) press of the focus stick

Hi Chris. When you do your full review of the X-T5 please could you talk about managing the file size of the 40mp images. I know you’ve done vids on storage and people say storage is cheap etc, but many others online are commenting that 26mp was quite enough and they don’t want the hassle of dealing with large files. I’d be interested in your advice. Thanks very much.
Yeah I would second this, It would be good to hear from Chris as there have been a lot of XT-3 fanboi's claiming its super amazing great. As an XT-4 user I need someone I trust to give us a honest review. As I am tempted by this camera but would like to see some direct comparisons between XT-4 shots vs XT-5 shots taken at the same time and some pixel peeping :)
Firstly, I just wanted to say a massive 'thank you,' Chris, for all you do and put into, your videos. They help brighten my recovery. I haven't used a camera for a long time, gave up taking photographs due to ill health. However I am thinking that perhaps later this year, maybe, just maybe, I'll get myself a system that I can use once more. I've shot previously with Canon, Sony and Olympus. I'm intrigued by Fuji. Can I ask. Have you noticed any "false positives," whilst shooting? I've watched other TH-cam users report that whilst continuous auto focus seems amazing, once back editing their images, guide a few have missed focus. This surely has to be a major priority for Fuji to fix.
Oh man, that 3D level would be so handy. My Nikon D850 had that, but I lost that feature when I downsized to the Fuji system. Some of my work is architectural and product photography. A 2D level is fine mostly, but a 3D is so nice for getting straight lines on walls, or consistent angles when shooting items that all need to have a consistent point of view. I know, a niche need, but I have missed that feature!
hey have you had any probs with the XT5 autofocus? Ive seen some reviews where they say they are getting excellent feedback from the LCD screen but once they look at the actual shots the autofocus missed a lot of shots...what are. your thoughts?

I am not sure I understand right the explanation between 1:38 and 2:03. Does this mean the button customization can be totally different in still vs. movie mode? (Something that is not so in the X-T4.) Or it's just for the View Mode button?
@pal2tech at 1:40, my assigned custom buttons don't change when switching from Stills to Video. I find that very annoying, is there a setting I can change to make the assigned custom buttons work differently for Stills and Video modes as you mentioned?
How do you set it to auto if you have a 3rd party lens with no aperture wheel? The aperture is assigned to the front wheel on my camera but I don't think I can choose the A setting from the wheel. I don't need to be in auto but I wanted to see if it would work with a 3rd party lens.
Would love to see your opinion on the Noise Reduction. People are saying it affects the raw and if you want the sharpest image you should put it to -4. Thank you for your great videos =)
Great! I got my XT5 3 days ago and love it already. But I'm really curious about the best settings for birds in flight. That's my greatest interest, especially smaller birds that move quickly and erratically, like swallows or terns. So, I'd love to see you address that issue. BTW, I upgraded from the XT2 to the XT5, so the changes in options are major for me :)
Just got the X-T5 this week and for me the biggest change from the X-T4 is how Custom settings profiles behave on X-T5. On X-T4 it stored just the picture settings like film simulation, color, sharpness, clarity, etc. On X-T5 it stores a whole lot more. Even things like, JPGE/RAW, Custom AF-C setting, Auto ISO setting, face/eye/subject detection, photometry, IS mode and more. Before it was usable for film recipes but now each Custom profile can drastically change how the camera behaves. Not sure if I like this change or not. It can be very useful but it also complicates using profiles as film recipes. Will you be looking into this Chris? And possible make a video about this?
They really need to make it include only those things that you specify in a custom setting, so if you want to save af-c mode or otherwise you can but it won’t override it if you only specify a film sim recipe
Thanks. In movie mode, can you save different custom settings, like one for 4K 24p with shutter speed 48, another for 1080 120 p slow motion, another for flog2 at 24p, etc? So that once you switch to movie, you can quickly switch between the different setups (as you might using the PASM dial c1-c7 on the xh2s?
So in a few days i'm gonna go from my xt2 that got stolen to an xt4. To me I really like the flipscreen and it is cheaper in price now. I feel like i still want the more videographic aspects of the xt4. The xt5 is indeed a photography first camera but i like the xt4 for it's more versatile use. And i think jumping from xt2 to xt4 must feel quite the improvement.
The X-T4 is still an amazing camera, more than enough for most people, only big advantages of X-T5 are for very large printing, extreme cropping, and af-c eye tracking but that seems to be a bit inconsistent from other videos
@@b3arodactyl but how is it extreme ceopping or large printing? The sensor has the same size as xt4 right? Anyway i have bought the XT4. Much improvement from xt2. Haven't used it yet but i'm super happy with it already :)
I’ve been using these XTs for several years, starting with the X-T1 but skipped the X-T4. My X-T5 arrived yesterday. Question about a card format hack I can’t seem to pull off on my X-T5. Previously I could hold down the “delete” button for a couple seconds and while doing so, simultaneously press the “rear command dial” and the Format Card options would pop up. Was fast and nice to not go into menus to format. Is it some other combination on the X-T5 or is it just gone. Love the videos. Thank you!
Thank you. Just picked up mine yesterday! I can’t find find display image just shot for awhile, and I’m not sure my AF selections, eye or not, animal, etc. are staying after turning the camera off. Is that the case? Can we do anything about it?? Thanks. Geoff
Hi Chris, thank you so much for your all videos which I found really helpful and I learned a lot. I just purchased XT-5 and I have a little problem with SS wich shows me numbers with the point. For example shutter speed 100.7? I would like to ask you if you know how I can change it to normal SS without decimals numbers please. Thank you for any info. Take care, Adam
OK, I tested and cannot reproduce. Is your shutter dial set to T? If so, take it out of that and set a hard value. Other than that, I've never seen or heard of this before. Perhaps post on a Facebook or other forum and see if anyone else has issue? If anyone is reading this and knows the answer, feel free to post here! Thanks! Good luck!
@@pal2tech Hi Chris, it sorted out. I spent quite long time trying to figure out what's going on. Finally I reset my xt5 to factory settings and shutter speed goes back to normal. Thanks for your time and thank you for very interesting videos you made. Take care, Adam

Xt5! Si solo vas a grabar videos en ocasiones y te dedicas mas hacer fotos deberias comprarte la xt5, ahorrarás algo de dinero, y en cuanto a fotografia es igual…. En tu caso yo optaría por la xt5
Hi Chris, Great Video! I was wondering if you could comment on the X-T5 having inconsistent eye focus tracking? These seems alot of debate about this as being inconsistant on the various forums.
Heard there were some issues with the X-T5’s face/eye tracking on AF-C (giving false positives wherein the camera gives the green box indicating focus but actually isn’t upon checking on a computer). Anybody found this to be true and faced this issue? Found any solutions or workarounds? :)
Great video. Regarding the programmable buttons: I would like them to control manual focus functions: focus peaking on/off, magnification on/off. I would also like to have depth of field preview to a button. Is this possible?
Oscar, if you read the instructions, it explains how to assign a button to depth of field, but it's basically what he said - press and hold the back/disp button and then assign depth of field to a button.
I would like to know what monitor set up you are currently using with which MacBook Pro since seeing your sponsored desktop? I see you using the new Capture One Pro 23 so I wondered about the rest of your set up. I would appreciate it. Love your channel for all it provides as it has been an essential one for me personally. Thanks.
The shortcut to format the sd-cards (holding the trashcan button for 3 seconds and then clicking the back scroll wheel) that was on the X-T4 doesn't seem to work anymore. Does anyone know if there's another shortcut?
Great video Chris. Thanks for the "surprises"! Much appreciated. Question. Did you discover the surprise waiting for you in Lightroom Classic? The missing film simulations/camera profiles. I have the Adobe subscription model so I have the latest of both LRC and Camera Raw. The X-T5 comes up in the Library module as being the X-T5. So Adobe got that right. However in the Develop module there are missing camera profiles: Classic Neg, Nostalgic Neg, Eterna Bleach Bypass and Sepia. I've already dropped a note to Adobe but I was wondering if you have experienced this same Lightroom omission?
YOU ARE THE BEST! Chris would you mind one day to explain in one of your videos WHY Fuji does not allow you to "store" custom film simulation elsewhere other than C1's buttons? I have a XS10 and I think would be awesome if the allow you to CREATE under the list and dedicated PASM dial for Film Simulations my own recipe. Lets say under the last one "SEPIA" you start to create your own list. Would that make sense? How much of internal memory it would take? Could it be stored into SD card?
I'm kind of puzzled why the 5 second timer option isn't available in stills if it's in video. This seems like an easy thing to remedy, but was it an oversight?
Ive noticed that saving the self timer in Still mode and then trying to save the Movie mode self timer cancels out the Still mode. So you can't switch between Still and Movie and have the one dedicated button for both. Anyone else noticed that?
I wondered if you or any of your subscribers have come across this for Fuji cameras shooting in manual - My camera Fuji XH1, shooting in manual using vintage lenses images looks sharp in camera, highlight registers when shooting but images not so sharp on computer. Any body know why? I do the usual set up mount adapter setting etc.
Thank you for all the info. Just got my xt5, an issue I have was the lag on preview an image. It took 2-3 seconds before the image shows up on the display. Is this normal? I tested xh2s and there was no lag. Thank you again.
I noticed the same thing. I believe if you have changed the Clarity setting, it will take longer to process the files so you get that lag on the preview after you take the shot.
@@sithbk0075 yeah other thing I can think of, depending on when you had the XT5, the current firmware 1.01 seems to have fixed some of the glitches and lag issues I was getting before with mine. XH2s is great, the X-T5 pushing 40 mp stills will prob have slower processing in some cases.
I am waiting for Live Composite Feature, when are they coming????? I am using Olympus just for that feature, I hope Fuji can get it into their system soonest.
Chris, I always enjoy and learn a lot from your videos. Do you know of a way to select a frame taken previously and still on your SD card (one taken lets say on a previous location and or day), select it and use in creating a double exposure "in camera" creation. Or am I simply not aware this ability already exists?
A question to all xt5 users. Can you shoot tether with x-acquire? I updated mine to the latest version, and I get it connected for one second and then is disconnects. Thank you
Not quite sure why stills and movie need slightly different self timer periods, agree wholeheartedly that customised timing would be useful. Thanks so much
Was so glad they added this since I got the new 1.4 lenses and was hoping I'd be able to crop in from 18 to 26 and 33 to 45 and 66. Having 20mp after cropping 2x is awesome.
2:51 it's actually 1d and 2d. it would be 3d if it also adds the panning angle sweep. (in aeroplane terms, it has the roll and pitch but it doesn't have yaw) edit: but i get it, it's not an engineering decision, it's a marketing one.
@@ondrasheq21 it doesn't level as a plane in 2d though. It levels on only one axis in 2d option (roll axis). And it levels 2 axii in 3d option (roll and pitch).
Hey guys! I've just bought an XT-5, which is great, but I've just noticed that the *uncompressed* RAF files which it produces do not display preview images in MacOS Finder or Preview - my old X-T3 RAFs still display preview images, but not the X-T5 ones. Any ideas?
The 3D level is also available in the X-E4 and X-T3 menu, i can't say about the X-T4, I have never used that camera. Thanks for sharing another fun and informative video.

Nope, never got it now i hear it’s possible it won’t show up till January 😮. Have you heard anything about this? Got any clues on what Fuji is really going to do here?
Does the Clarity function still hog a lot of preview time? If yes, I wonder why Fuji even bother releasing that, at least disable that on preview so the user experience doesn't plunge to 2000 camera era

Would love to see your opinion on the Noise Reduction. People are saying it affects the raw and if you want the sharpest image you should put it to -4. Thank you for your great videos =)
I always do with Fuji cameras, current T30...better results IMO
Yeah, I couldn't find the wrapping toggle in my X-H2. Hope to see it there soon.
So have you used any older lenes and seen a big difference vs the newer lens of the same focal length?
hi pal - can you dso a brief session on the digital zoom that has come to the xt5 ?
Best fuji content all over yt thank you for your work
Thank you so much, that's awesome to hear! 🙏
This Fujifilm camera has si many nice things, I am amazed.
They really need to make it include only those things that you specify in a custom setting, so if you want to save af-c mode or otherwise you can but it won’t override it if you only specify a film sim recipe
can you save like Auto Exposure Bracketing on one and Single shot on one like the custom mode dials with other cameras?
@@criticaltinker You can't. That always follows whatever is set on the physical dial.
Thank you Chris; I will look at the xh2 and see if these also transfer there as well
As always Chris! Great show! Greetings from the Netherlands! I love mine.
Hey Chris, any short cut for formatting the cards?-Thanks
Press trash/delete and hold for three seconds and then push in the rear command dial. You will see what you need pop up on the screen.
WHAT?? Really? I've not see that one before. Just a sec and lemme check my XT5 to see if I can duplicate this. Weird...
Is there a delay between shots when using clarity?
Do you find the review button on the top left is an awkward place because it can cause the LCD screen to go blank?
Recording Frame Indicator - not available in XH2 hope they update this
Hi Chris, Great Video!
Haven't experienced it so far. I have had it the other way around though where I didn't think I was in focus but it nailed the eye perfectly.
@@robertakayne3853 Thanks. I do not own the camera and have no instructions.
Looking at these new features should indeed be included in my XT-4
Is there a FX to GFX lens adapter? Instead of buying a new XT5 for street, i want a lighter lens for my GFX
Always a joy watching your videos ..thank you Chris
Hi! Have you by any chance also tested the new macro lens (30mm)? Would love to hear some thoughts about that one 😃
Wonderful tutorials Merci !
Great job, keep those “secrets” coming as you discover them. Look forward to see more.
Fantastic videos!!! How does Fuji crop cameras compare to full frame in low light shooting at events?
Ive noticed that saving the self timer in Still mode and then trying to save the Movie mode self timer cancels out the Still mode. So you can't switch between Still and Movie and have the one dedicated button for both. Anyone else noticed that?
Yes, just confirmed that myself this morning.
View Mode button.. Sweet!
Yes. 7:23 !! Please Fuji please add these features to my X-T4.
Well, if that desk raises your energy level, I can't imagine what that looks like! LOL!! Good info, have a great week!
Hello sir, I have a problem with the raw file, I can't preview it by pressing the space bar on Mac, any recommendations?
I have the xt5
Hi Would you please do a review for video features on the XT5, Does the Fujifilm XT5 overheat when shooting the video? Thank You :)
@@CarlosBarronJr the setting is at stock and clarity setting is at 0. I return the xt5 and went with XH2s.
I can't wait to get the xt5
A question to all xt5 users. Can you shoot tether with x-acquire? I updated mine to the latest version, and I get it connected for one second and then is disconnects. Thank you
Not quite sure why stills and movie need slightly different self timer periods, agree wholeheartedly that customised timing would be useful. Thanks so much
Couple more useful xt5 features: digital tele comverter and manual focus meter!
I've just discovered and tried out that digital TC today. I was impressed!
(in aeroplane terms, it has the roll and pitch but it doesn't have yaw)
edit: but i get it, it's not an engineering decision, it's a marketing one.
It is meant as the plane (2D) or the space (3D) and that's right. 1D is nonsense
@@ondrasheq21 it doesn't level as a plane in 2d though. It levels on only one axis in 2d option (roll axis). And it levels 2 axii in 3d option (roll and pitch).
Thank you very much 👍🏻
Hey guys! I've just bought an XT-5, which is great, but I've just noticed that the *uncompressed* RAF files which it produces do not display preview images in MacOS Finder or Preview - my old X-T3 RAFs still display preview images, but not the X-T5 ones. Any ideas?
That should be a question to Apple. My Sony A7RV do the same with my MB.
Can't wait for the recording frame indicator on the XH series.
The 3D level is also available in the X-E4 and X-T3 menu, i can't say about the X-T4, I have never used that camera.
Thanks for sharing another fun and informative video.
yes, 3D level exists on my x-t3 .
As I upgrade from an X-T2 to an X-T5, I'm so happy to see the 3D level feature because it's not available on the X-T2 and I really missed it.
My x-t3 does not have 3D mode. Are you sure your's have it?
Reply to Pedro below: Yes your Xt-3 has it .Checked mine a few seconds ago. Don’t know why, as I knew it was there. Check your XT-3 manual also.
@@pedroferreirabass maybe you' need to upgrade your firmware.

Hi from malaysia. I would like to know something i think you can help me. As you have tried xt5 and xh2, which of these 2 cameras is the best in your opinion as i would want to buy one of these but i can’t decide, i love the retro style on xt5 but i also do record many videos but not for working purpose , only for recording family , kids , holiday etc. I really hope you can help me make a desicion, thank you sir
I'd say XT5 if for only family videos and much photography, plus the retro style is better.
@@pal2tech thank you sir. I will definitely get the xt5 then.
Received my brand new xt5 yesterday. Wow! Was curious as to whether I could use my Nikon telephotos with the finger adapter, and I'm happy to report that my 300 pf/ older 70 to 200 F4 and the Nikon 200 to 500 all work just fine. A little hunting sometimes but the image quality and once it locks on is just great. Today I'll give birds in Flight a shot with the 300 PF and see how it goes...
@TTLshack as I stated in my texting it's a Finger adapter Nikon to Fuji.. I got it via b&h or maybe even Amazon they're available for. $350.00 or so.
Same in X-S10 (View Mode customisation)
Hi there! Great video on the hidden items I the X-T5. Too bad I was one of the people that pre-ordered it on the 6th and was assured to get it after the launch date.
Hi looking for a bit of advice I’m in the process of looking to buy possibly the Fuji film XH2 but I do mainly still photography as an amateur when I compare the secondhand value of theFuji film XH2 and the new Fuji film XT5 are very similar in price to buy this XT5 new.
What would you advise as I do still photography don’t really do any video stuff whatsoever thank you.

Fuji knows that many customers are willing to pay extra for a NON-PSAM handling ;)
I came from xt4 and bought xh2 $500 cheaper than xt5 . I love the PASM, it is a lot faster than the xt4 and 5 dials especially when you get the 7 shooting short cut buttons set up. They are both great cameras but xh2 has more features and evf is to die for.
@@tonyelsom No PASM is one of the most important reasons for me using Fuji cameras. If i had to use PASM, i better switch to real PASM brands like Sony. X-H2 is technically a good camera, but i have no interest in because of the annoying dials.
@@tonyelsom Hi thanks Tony the used xh2 I can Buy for £1600 and the new XT5 there’s £100 of difference XT5 is £100 more expensive

Hi am a kinda new sub to your channel and I am seriously debating on getting the X-T5 but people have told me I should consider the X-T4 instead if I am one of those people that does not like noise in darker areas of my images when higher ISO settings are set.. Could you maybe do a video explaining and showing just really how bad is the noise compared to the X-T4 and how easy is it to just remove any that might happen under most normal shooting conditions in Post.. Thanks :)
"A photography first camera" Oh yeah!? Straight out of the box it was set to Movie. I was setting it up when I heard Jimi Hendrix say Wait a minute something's wrong here! I look around the camera body and I see Movie setting. I switched it to Stills and I said that's alright I still got my xt5, look out now!
Thank you!!
