    Hi Pete. I liked your video and following it I ordered a SmallRig bracket for my X-T5. I was very pleasantly surprised at how well it fitted and how much it improves the feel and handling.

    Fujifilm has a charger as well, with % indicator and visual indicator LED, and it can charge two as well. It seems like it is a norm to manufacture chargers with 2 slots as minimum, haven't seen a single slot charger, maybe I have but it didn't felt unusual as I am new to photography.
    And you forgot the other necessary item, more necessary than the alternative strap that is already included with the camera, and that item is.....the additional battery!

    Nice video, thanks. One remark, insted of making a handheld shot and applying a stabilization at the post production (which is super obvious on the soft shutter button closeups) try to use a monopod, squeeze it between your arm and body and move your body only ;)

    Fast lenses are bigger and heavier. For travel/street photography, they are also more conspicuous and tiring to use.
    My go-to on the X-T5 is the 27mm f/2.8 WR pancake lens. Most shooters will stop down to f/4 or f/5.6 anyway for most of their daytime shooting, so it makes little difference if the lens wide open is a 1.4 or a 2.8.

      Good point and great setup! I just got a 50 f/1 and it's a chunk! lol but I don't mind carrying it around so much

    About wrist straps, those are very easy to learn to make. I found a tutorial here on TH-cam and made my own. I only use these now. They’re so nice!

    I love my ex to 5, but I agree with you he’s a couple of things I should’ve done I think I should include a wrist strap … And they should also include the button that goes on the shutter release… Especially in the premium end of Photography where are you paying? Well I’m in Australia $3000 for the camera 📸

    • @PeteCocoPhoto
      @PeteCocoPhoto  ปีที่แล้ว

      $3000 for the camera is just crazy! I didn't realize things were that much more expensive there.

    • @nevvanclarke9225
      @nevvanclarke9225 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PeteCocoPhoto I am in Australia mate and everything is expensive in Australia. Given our dollar conversion it probably should only be about $2400 for the camera but it was three grand. I sold some other lenses from a Nikon range that I wasn’t using. I’m still really grateful that I can open this camera and I can honestly say that it competes with full frame really well. It’s as close to full frame as you will get. I actually believe it probably outperforms most full frame cameras on the market, with the exception of probably the last three or four years with a full frame cameras. The dynamic range on the Ex T5 is absolutely off the charts good and I shoot of a lot of landscapes mate where I tend to under expose images and then recover them. Dealing with a lot of uneven light is challenging so I need a camera that can do that the Nikon D850 is incredible and I still love that camera, but I can tell you what the Xt5 competes really well… I really thought strong and hard about this camera and did lots of research on it, but I’m about four weeks into owning this camera and I love it. It is just brilliant

    • @PeteCocoPhoto
      @PeteCocoPhoto  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nevvanclarke9225 I agree with you. I think the XT5 and XH2 are SOLID competitors to full frame when it comes to quality, DR, etc. I was blown away by it as well, plus I absolutely loved the new 56mm but I sent it back because it had some focusing weirdness. I'm probably going to give it one more try at some point.

    • @nevvanclarke9225
      @nevvanclarke9225 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PeteCocoPhoto I tried the old Fuji 56 1.2 and I wasn’t overly impressed with it. It missed focus a lot now I’m not a huge portrait shooter. I do some portrait work but I mainly do landscapes. I think I’m gonna either go for the Viltrox 56 or sigma … The Sigma 56 got really good reviews. I shoot a lot of landscapes mate and I can tell you. The dynamic range on this camera is pretty good like I said it is the closest camera I have seen the full frame in terms of dynamic range. It’s incredible how much you can drop the highlights and recover shadows of this camera. Staying in my bag and I absolutely love it. I didn’t think any camera could compete with my Nikon D850 in terms of dynamic range and Resolution… I have never been a huge fan of the Z series cameras by Nikon. I think they’re overpriced for what they are. This camera just fits perfectly and I can also use my Nikon lenses on the Fuji body and it works really well. So now I have a the Nikon d850 to shoot with and the Fuji xT5

    How do You think, is it a good idea to switch from Canon R6 to an X-T5? I do studio sessions with models, portrait, street and travel. Video - almost not. I love film simulations and color style of Fuji. But little bit nervous to downscale to crop from FF because of image quality and autofocus. Will it be as good as in FF...?
    Never had Fuji, and crop-experience on Nikon z50 was not as good.

    • @PeteCocoPhoto
      @PeteCocoPhoto  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are happy with the R6 I don't think you should switch. Film sims are awesome but when I do studio portraiture I don't use them and instead color grade my portraits. I also have, and use a Canon R5. The 40mp Fuji sensor is close to the Canon, but still not quite as good as the 45mp on the R5. The thing I love about Fuji is the user experience - it lends itself to being creative if that makes sense.

      I never heard that so thanks for the info. I've used soft shutter releases on all my Fuji cameras for many years with no problems. If you are afraid of it damaging your camera, then I recommend that you don't use one.

    I have the SmallRig grip and with the screw it did not bind tightly and thus wobbled when attempting to attach it. Solution -- dig around in my location of nuts, bolts and washers and found a lock washer. Removed the SR and undid the screw, added the washer, re-installed the screw and lo and behold a perfect fit was had by all. Simple.

    I bet you won’t notice a picture taken with UV filter from another without. I would still recommend for those who are using lenses that are not WR, and those who prefer to clean on the go with whatever cloth an easy flat surface. I recommend B+W, but HOYA, on the 20$ level, are really good as well.

    • @PeteCocoPhoto
      @PeteCocoPhoto  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Maybe. People. say yes you will, or no you won't. I used them for many years but when I moved over to digital I ditched them. I rather not have a $20 piece of glass in front of a $1000 lens but I totally understand why people use them.

    • @mcd82105
      @mcd82105 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good luck carrying your lens naked. You can’t justify not using a filter simply by its cost. Think about telling people not to drink Costco water because it is cheap and it won’t do good to your priceless body. Think about that.

    I don’t really like the L bracket it felt the group was too big for me so I was able to hold one in a camera store so I didn’t buy it and I’ve gone with the leather case on the bottom of the camera which I really like and that does increase the grip size a little bit, but it gives the camera also some protection as well in terms of putting the camera on a tripod. I just have a little acro Swiss Square and that’s easy to screw in and then mounted to the tripod takes two seconds and with my tripod I can put it in the portrait position because the tripod is really well designed so I prefer the leather case that goes around the bottom of the camera it makes it look really cool plus, it does protect the camera

    • @PeteCocoPhoto
      @PeteCocoPhoto  ปีที่แล้ว

      I saw the leather case AFTER I bought the Small Rig LOL. That would have been my second choice, or maybe my first if I had seen it sooner!

    • @nevvanclarke9225
      @nevvanclarke9225 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PeteCocoPhoto Yes, and I use a Ulanzi tripod Which you can use a very small Accra Swiss plate … And with that tripod, I can easily flip the camera into portrait position without having to use an L bracket. I only buy an L bracket if I absolutely have to. I also feel the leather protects the camera a little bit. It gives it a beautiful feel I must say. And because Fuji film cameras are very light that position holds very well on the tripod I don’t need an L bracket.

    • @PeteCocoPhoto
      @PeteCocoPhoto  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nevvanclarke9225 Cool. In a funny coincidence, SmallRig just reached out to me to review the leather case so I will most likely do a video on it soon.

      @nevvanclarke9225 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PeteCocoPhoto Just one tip with those leather cases though, and this is from being a very experienced photographer every couple of weeks, it’s a good idea to take them off and just give the camera a bit of a dust down as you will often get a bit of dirt and grit in between the leather case and the camera and you don’t want leather building up moisture either so it’s good to take it off once every couple weeks and just make sure there’s no bridge in between the leather case and the camera. It’s something I do.
