Chris, you're the best. I've been a photographer for over fifty years. I just got the XT5 and happily decided to use your guide for starter set-up. You make it clear and simple. And fun. Inspiring. Thank you!
If I were on the fence about a certain camera to buy starting out in photography, your videos alone would be enough to make me choose the Fuji X-T5. Thank you for all you do in making these videos!
Chris, my X-T5 was delivered Thursday. I had pre-watched your video when you first released it, and I re-pre watched it early this week as a warm up. Yesterday and today I slowed it down to .75 speed and went through it step by step for a final screening. Thanks for doing this, it took the pain out of the setup. Al
I still remember the eagerness I had watching your XT3 Setup Guide just after receiving mine for Xmas. The chills, man. You've grown so much since then, Chris
Thanks for this very timely video Chris. I picked up my camera two days ago and was hoping you would do a tutorial as a planned to set it up today. And, there you were. I appreciate all that you do for Fuji shooters.
Great intro. I am a professional photographer and HS Photo teacher going into my 4th Fuji X camera (XT1,XPro2,XE4 and now XT5) and still I learned a LOT. Thank you for doing this.
Hi Chris. I've been shooting with Olympus, then Nikon & returned to photography after a year. I bought the X-T5 today and this video was SO HELPFUL. Thank you!
Hi Chris. just a quick point about the sequencing of the changes you recommend. At 4.15 you suggest setting face/eye auto detect to on and then at 6.20 you suggest changing the photometry setting. However, once you've turned face/eye auto-detect on the photometry option gets yellowed out (as it is on your video at 6.32). I checked with the manual and that's what's supposed to happen. You may have done what I did and changed the photometry setting before turning on face-eye auto detect. However, the sequencing in your video might create a bit of confusion on this point. Otherwise I'm finding this very helpful - thank you!
Love this channel, and this one was a massive help. I am all in on fuji but was missing this clear set up intro... brilliant. Thank you for creating this work.
Just upgraded from XT2 to XT5 and this is a brilliant refrersher as it has been ages since i went through that setup. You forget where all the settings are and with the XT5 there is so much more. Very clearly explained. Thanks Chris.
As a total newbie to the Fujifilm world and this amazing camera, I can't thank you enough for this 'initial setup' walk through. It's amazing how invaluable and helpful an experienced pro like yourself can be. I'm really looking forward to checking out your other videos. Very grateful for your experienced guidance.
absolutely amazing crash course... love it....thank you. i just bought XT5 today and voila i don't need to read the manual only thing is you were very fast ... so i have to go back and forth but very informative... thank you again
Great assistance in trying to keep the various combinations straight. As always you've provided clear instruction to help us get the most out of our Fuji cameras. My go to source for this - Thank you so much for the effort you put into this channel!
Looking foward to more videos on the X-T5. Coming soon. I feel like Fuji listened as to what I wanted in a camera. This one is perfect for me. You are my go to guy.
Thanks Chris. I’m learning so much from your videos. Not just about Fuji, but about the world of digital photography in general. I’m an old film fogey returning to photography after an absence of about 30 years and your straight-talking, clear instruction is just so helpful. All the best (from Australia). Now, do I upgrade my x-t3 to a 5? Rhetorical question of course, but I await your full review with interest!
Thanks for the video, one of the best published on you tube, very clear and complete although fast. I gave myself this car for Christmas and I will play with it.
👍 Florian!! Yeah, I broke my 'no working on weekends rule' LOL, but this camera is a BIG DEAL and a lot of people may be setting them up this weekend!!!
Fuji are releasing, or have released, so many new cameras, it's difficult to keep on top of it all. I ,recently, purchased a S10 and that will be my last body purchase for a number of years.
Hello there! I’d like to thank you for doing a step by step guide. I’m fairly new to Fuji and you made if very easy to follow. And yes, this is an entertaining video!!! Really appreciate you taking the time to make this. 🎉
With my X-T5 on order, this video couldn't have come at a better time . Thanks for posting Chris and I'm looking forward to more from you on this fantastic camera as and when.
The Fujifilm app works better on the XT5. Keep playing with it because I watched your other video and was pleased that it is working on mine. That being said, had a minor connection delay a couple of times and found an order that helps. Launch the app, turn on Bluetooth on my XT5, restart Bluetooth on my iPad and that is the most reliable sequence. Could still be better, but improved over your testing experience.
One of the beautiful things about the XT bodies is that small function button in front next to the finger grip. My Nikon doesn't have one and I'm not sure about other brands. Instead of assigning this to playback which can be accessed from the back while you’re looking at the screen, I assigned the Back Button Focus function to this button. With your index finger on the shutter button, your middle finger will fall naturally on this button, making back focus so easy. The rear button that has this function assigned out of the box is hard to use with your thumb if you have large hands.
Kudos for this entire Fujifilm vlog! You and Simon d'Entremont make the best presentation of info--so enjoyable to watch, and easy to learn. When my X-T5 arrived today, I could not resist tossing the info packet up and off to the side...
Chris, first thing I did when I received my X-T5 was open this video and use your guide for setup. Terrific channel, please keep creating valuable content like this!
Today I've used it for the first time after my X-T2 and a few conclusions I have drawn: - A bit weird that the Q buttion is on the right and the AF on the left for back-button focus, now I have swapped both - My version of Lightroom can't read the .RAF files which is weird, I guess I need to upgrade my version - In uncrompressed RAW one .RAF file is around 85 megabyte which is use, files of the X-T2 were around 50 mb, probably better to shoot (lossless) compressed Things I learned now: - Buy another battery! 🙂 For the touch controls I would recommend to keep it on, at least for using tracking autofocus and selecting the subject. In my very limited test drive I tried it out and it works very decently. I also assign a button to modify the different modes of the AF-C autofocus which can be handy. I would also recommend to use the Q-button as the new autofocus makes a difference between animal recognition (one icon) and person recognition (another). If you want to switch from one to the other the Q button will be the fastest way.
This was so helpful. I am testing out a Fujifilm X-T5 and you just saved me so much time in figuring out how to set it up to simply get started. Thank you!
I'll be reviewing this as I switch from my XT3 to an XT5 soon. But I wanted to insert here a STRONG recommendation that everyone use the new Fuji XApp mobile application, if for no other reason than because you can easily back up and restore all of these custom settings. My XT3 has reset itself twice now. The first time was before I had XApp and I had to rebuild my entire set up (including a whole bunch of custom film sims) while on vacation. Absolutely miserable. The second time was just a few weeks ago and I was able to get everything back the way I like in under 2 minutes with the app.
Oh My gosh Chris, with this video you solved at least the half of the problem I had switching from SONY to FUJI XT-5, concerning the set-up. standing ovation
Thanks Pal2Tech. I’ve got a TTArtisans lens on the way and needed to remind myself where to find shoot without lens in the menu to make sure I had it set right
Should be getting my X-T5 any minute now *keeps checking for the FedEx Truck* I will be watching this video as I open it up. I am excited because this is my first ever brand new camera, I have always gotten 2nd hand before, I am upgrading from the X-T2.
Chris, I sold my XS-10 and got an XT5 in the mail yesterday. You were the first person I thought to look for guidelines to set up my new camera. Thanks so much!!
Thank you sir for this wonderful tutorial. I've just jumped from the X-T1 to the X-T5 and have a lot to learn. Now to dig in on all things X-T5 and Capture One!

Thank-you. I'm new to mirrorless, Fuji and this channel. This video was perfect for me. I look forward to delving into all your other videos as my Fuji journey continues.
New subscriber. I am not a beginner (novice I would say). Came from Canon to Sony and now to Fuji. The X-T5 is my new obsession. So looking to learn more how to take pictures in the Fuji system. This tutorial is a good start. Thanks!

Thanks for the video! I'm a new subscriber too! It was very helpful! It has been several years since I bought my last camera and it has been that long since I've had to dive in a menu to tweak all these settings. BTW, F-stoppers simply used your video on their page on how to set up this camera. The only setting I would disagree on is to have IS always on. It's akin to turning on pre-AF. I have found always-on functions to be unnecessary. Please keep posting these tutorial type videos! They are very helpful.
I've reviewed this video now, few days I got my x-t5 and after I already set it up according to my needs (I already was an x-t3 owner). I agree with you on some settings, and disagree on other ones, but it has been helpful in any case to let me (re)think to the various setup possibilities 👍🏻
This is such a great video tool for a person that never had a camera of such potential. It is a bit frustrating to use and navigate through an endless list of options and settings but with this video, the initial setup it was much smoother. I had watched through a handful of your videos and after an evening playing around with it, I have finally started to like it and realized I made a good decision to pick up this camera! :)
Thank you for this excellent video! I'm new to Fuji and already love the XT-5. Your video has made it so much easier for me to get started. Thank you very much!
You Rock my friend! Thanks for being so nice and helping us out! You´re saving our asses! I´ve been using Nikons for the past 15 years... Fuji´s menus and configuration are rocket science to me. Well... it was, before your videos! Keep rocking!
Well done. You need a video on setting up geotagging and connecting to an iPhone. I guess you will have to take a deep breath and explain the Fuji app. Bob, Springfield, VA
I hate that app. But I use it because I want the geotagging. On the X-S10, it was unreliable and then suddenly became rock solid after a firmware update. Hoping the X-T5 has that fix!
this is really good work, like your style. I am 100% focused on FujiFilm now. I have to choose which camera I am going to buy. Sony A7 IV or FujiFilm X-T5 or X-H2(S). so I watched all content on both camera's...but your way of presenting is a breath of fresh air.....kudos from the Netherlands
I had to send my xt5 away for repairs, and it came back completely reset. Of course, I completely forgot, after months. Thanks so much for your quick and helpful setup guide.
Thanks! Very helpful. Now.. do you put a screen shield on lcd and which brand, do you add a camera soft release button, which external charger other than fuji's do you recommend for these batteries? Spare batteries other than Fuji, Wasabi?
Thank youuuu!!! without seeing this video i would not have used my fisheye lens from a 7Artisans 7.5m Fisheye to my T5 fujijil. Such a camera life saver!
I've got my XT5 in hand while watching this. The information you provide is priceless! Thank you.

@@CarolinePicking I have been messing arouond with it and it seems a lot more stable then my X-T4.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazingly helpful video! - thank you!! …. I just bought this X-T5 and I feel like it could fly me to the moon. Excited 😊
Excellent, clear, and very helpful. Terrific job by pal2tech.
Rewatched this so many times for the tip, thank you!!
Your videos are inspiring and funny! You are simply the very best out there! Congratulations! Greetings from Germany
I'm going to watch this setup-guide once I get my own, which should hopefully be around February - March next year!
Purchased this camera, looked for a how to video. This video was so helpful! Subscribing now!
Thank you for the great tutorial. I can't believe I finish watching the whole video without having a Fuji camera.
this is really good work, like your style. I am 100% focused on FujiFilm now. I have to choose which camera I am going to buy. Sony A7 IV or FujiFilm X-T5 or X-H2(S). so I watched all content on both camera's...but your way of presenting is a breath of fresh air.....kudos from the Netherlands
Already got my X-T5 and have been waiting for this video from you… thanks Chris.
Just received my camera, and this was exactly what I needed. Thanks so much for posting!
I had to send my xt5 away for repairs, and it came back completely reset. Of course, I completely forgot, after months. Thanks so much for your quick and helpful setup guide.
This is very helpful video for new users like me. Thanks a lot!
Planning on getting one of these bad boys and definitely going to follow this setup thanks
I found this so, so useful Chris, as I just took delivery of my new X-T5 yesterday morning! Perfect timing!!
Thanks! Very helpful. Now.. do you put a screen shield on lcd and which brand, do you add a camera soft release button, which external charger other than fuji's do you recommend for these batteries? Spare batteries other than Fuji, Wasabi?
Great video - thanks - have followed all the settings. Now have to work out how to use it!!
Thank God for your channel. I literary just changed a few settings to my XT4 that I had in default.
Thank you for making those videos. They helped me a lot with my photography. And I also appreciate the personal touch.
Thank youuuu!!! without seeing this video i would not have used my fisheye lens from a 7Artisans 7.5m Fisheye to my T5 fujijil. Such a camera life saver!
I just love the Q, I use it all the time, just shows how different we all are.
