  • In Star Wars Canon, when Yoda died and became one with the Force in Return of the Jedi, the first thing he did was appear before Emperor Palpatine, the first time the two had spoken since their battle in Revenge of the Sith...

      Perhaps the matter is more complex. It took the love of his wife and two children to bring Anakin back to the middle ground .

      @@haroldchase4120 Complex, indeed. That’s what happens when several decades worth of lore turn a villain (Darth Vader) into not only a hero, but the central character of the story. In 1983, we thought Luke was the hero, and Darth Vader the villain. Nobody knew The Emperor was the “real” villain, or that he and Vader were Sith Lords -or what that even meant! And we all know that the prophecy of The Chosen One wasn’t even mentioned in the OT.

    I think there is an additional angle here: Palpatine had been trying to 'win' by becoming immortal in flesh to endlessly amass power and forever destroy the Jedi (or lightside users in general I would guess), but Yoda (thanks to Qui Gon's post-mortem training) along with others learned to join with the force, and thus had actually achieved the immortality that Papa Palpatine and the Muun were looking for, albeit not exactly in a form that could create power and violence within the Galaxy like Sidious really wanted.
    Thus the, "Win, you can't," statement, as they Jedi had already 'won' in that respect.

    The book ref'd is not canon. It's not canon and every SW fan in the world knows this is true on days when they can divorce their personal feelings about things from what they see from the creators that have the license to create actual canon.
    We've seen this since Alan Dean Foster's "Splinter of the Mind's Eye" book if not earlier.
    There has always been a hierarchy of canon, since 1977 forward although it got some extra complexity once video games started showing up. Higher levels of canon trump lower levels.
    The highest level is what happens in the movies and TV which are equal....except when they're not, like the SW holiday special and the Ewoks movies. After that is what is shown in the shooting scrips that maybe didn't make it on-screen. When Old Man Lucas was in charge, the next highest level was his definitive statements about what was and wasn't. After that, nothing mattered. Nothing. NOTHING. No EU/Legends, no video games, no nothing. Period. Fans get attached to various stories and great really angry when those stories get pooped on which sucks but that's irrelevant. Higher levels beat lower levels, every time.
    The Yoda appearing before Sidious thing came from early versions of the SW6:RotJ scripts where Lucas was playing with the idea of Yoda coming back in the flesh to help Luke in his final fight. Some of these script iterations could be found online years ago, but I don't know if they can anymore. That somebody wrote a book that built on these ideas is nice, but it doesn't make it canon, it makes it some kind of provisional thing that some fans have invested a lot of energy into and has not, yet, been messed up by Lucasfilm in their current productions.

    To me it shows Yoda’s cowardice. He runs away and hides. But once he can’t be hurt, he comes out to run his mouth. I really hate how they made Yoda to be.

    • @WhydoIsuddenlyhaveahandle
      @WhydoIsuddenlyhaveahandle 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That is absolutely not what happened. He alone was able to peirce through the veil of the darkside and receive a force vision during the flight with Sidious where the force told him it was not his place to win here and the only hope was for him to retreat to be around to help defeat the Sith later.
      Sidious spent the entire fight running away from Yoda.
      It was not cowardice. It was humility to accept the vision the force gave him

    Calling things from the books canon just doesn't make sense anymore given the fact that the shows and movies completely ignore them and change things at will. Given your position on the Acolyte drama assuming that you are aware of the other instances where the shows retconned the "new canon", I would think that you would stop marketing these types of lore videos as canon when you know they could be changed at anytime. Now obviously something like this will likely never get changed by shows or movies but if one book can be made obsolete then that sort of makes them all obsolete because we know the shows and movies don't care about them. If the people at Lucasfilm don't care about them, why should we.
    To be clear I don't think you should stop making these videos, just that you shouldn't call them canon. What happens when something you have proclaimed as canon gets changed in the future, and all of your fans are left confused because you told them something else was canon. I know this is the fault of Star Wars and Lucasfilm themselves and not you but I think to help mitigate this problem you should either remove the canon label or state in every video that these canon books could be changed by the shows or movies at any time.
    There is already way too much confusion within the Star Wars fanbase about what is and what isn't in canon and I think this is the best way to mitigate it. Just in the last 2 weeks I have seen multiple videos where half say that the force created Anakim because of Plageus and the other half saying it was Palpatine. These types of things will only get worse if us fans don't do something
