There is a very good interview on youtube with both Jason Patric & Kiefer Sutherland...40 years alter... discussing the making of Lost Boys. Interesting trivia ... they both hated the mishmash of a script. It played up the comedy, but had no coherent story. Jason & Kiefer "mutinied" & basically re-wrote as they went along...much of the finished film is improvised! To this day, they are both proud of it.
1:51 - Yes, that’s Kiefer Sutherland and he was in Stand by Me. He’s a great actor. If you’re looking for good movie suggestions with him in it (and with a scary theme suitable for Halloween), you should check out Flatliners (the 1990 version). It also stars Julia Robert’s and Kevin Bacon.
The saxophone guy is Tim Cappello and he's still performing. The music video for synthwave artist GUNSHIP's song "Dark All Day" is an VERY UN-official anime sequel to The Lost Boys (and a few other vampire flicks). Tim appears in that video in both anime and live-action form. Synthwave music is a perfect genre for Tim since it tries to recapture that 80s sound/feel.
I sure hope he's gotten to play gigs due to The Lost Boys, because he's like the BIGGEST THING anyone mentions about this movie. And ... he's actually a great sax player!
The one cool little bit of trivia I got, is the single tear from David's eye after burning his hand was not scripted or intended, but caused by those incredibly uncomfortable contact lenses. But, it made for such a uniquely riveting reaction to the sunlight

The Return of the Living Dead (1985) 8. Reanimator (1985) 9. From Beyond (1986) 10. Elvira Mistress of the Dark (1988) Also, check out "The Changeling"(1980) with George C. Scott, it's not cheesy fun, it's serious, but it's a classic 80's horror.
Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988) is about as much "fun cheesy 80s horror" as you can get. And then there's Class of 1999 (1990). Which I guess doesn't make the list because of the year. But it's still in the same stratosphere as far as campy/horror feel goes.
Honestly, I’ve seen this movie about 10 million times and find it endlessly rewatchable. I was lucky to see it on the big screen, in Dublin, a few Octobers back. Great reaction!

A fantastic vampire "movie" is Salem's Lot (1979). It was a made for TV miniseries based on the Stephen King book, and it absolutely terrified an 8-year-old me when it came out. There are remakes, but I like the 1979 version best.
Is the Grandpa a vampire? I'm timestamping some potential evidence .... the only time we see him outside in the daytime he has sunglasses on (4:05 & 7:37 & 26:28), tells the kids not to touch the second shelf in the fridge which has lots of bottles (that might contain blood?) (4:25), drinks something that looks suspiciously like blood at the end of the movie (37:59), mentions rules a couple of time (4:22 & 29:26) and vampires live by sets of rules. I could be very wrong but I thought it was interesting. Enjoyed the reaction!
Yep, Grandpa was half vampire the whole time. He never made a human kill and lived off the blood of animals and practiced taxidermy lol. And that was blood in those bottles.

Hands down my favorite vampire movie. I'm from the town this was filmed in, and my stepdad insists that he snuck onto the set once. That you can see the glow of his cigarette in the shadows in one of the scenes in the underground hotel. I've never spotted it myself, but I look for it every time I watch this!
I LOVE THIS MOVIE! I have seen it more times than I can count. I live about 2 hours from Santa Cruz where the movie was filmed, and every year the Boardwalk in Santa Cruz does a move night where they show Lost Boys on a big screen on the beach. My family and I went there and watched it last year and it was a blast.

This movie was in heavy rotation on my vcr back in the 80's. Definitely you should watch Fright Night And An American Werwolf in London, both are also a mix of horror and fun.
11:21 It's called glamour, it's one of their powers. In addition to flight, abnormal strength, accelerated healing, they're able to make you see what they want you to see.
I have a theory about the Frog brothers. This is the first time they have ever killed vampires. Maybe they saw vampires but I can tell this is their first time killing a vampire.
There are two more movies in this franchise. The second one is called "Lost Boys: The Tribe", and the third is called "Lost Boys The Thirst". 1:45, that’s definitely something I miss from back in the day: the long hair. I mean, I miss having hair period, but I really miss all of the awesome hair we had in the 80’s.
Glad you enjoyed the movie! It was a fun reaction to watch! I see other people have mentioned the other big 80s vampire movie Fright Night. It's definitely worth watching. There was also a remake in the early 2000s that was actually pretty good as well and takes a slightly different angle to the plot, so you could conceivably watch both and compare them. There's also the classic Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) with Keanu Reeves, Gary Oldman, and Winona Ryder. Reeves gives perhaps his worst performance ever, but overall it's not a bad movie. A somewhat lesser known vampire film is John Carpenter's Vampires (1998), which is probably really only notable because Carpenter directed it. It's not terrible by any means, and it has an interesting idea with the plot centering on a group of professional vampire hunters who are sanctioned by the Vatican, but it's also not a particularly well known or beloved vampire film.
You simply have GOT TO see Near Dark. Late 80's modern take on Vampires, and for me one of the best Vampire flicks out there. You'll love it! Excellent upload as usual 👌
I have such great memories of the night my friends and I went to watch this movie. The local radio station would occasionally host midnight movies on weekends. Me and three of my friends decided to go camping that night. So we went out and setup the campsite before heading to town for the show. The campsite was in a small clearing in the middle of a field of sunflowers. It was fall, so the plants were all dying and about ready to be harvested. So we setup by this small single tree in the middle of this field and setup a campfire under it. We didn't know at the time, just how much it looked like the scene we were about to see in the movie when the vamps kill the group at the campfire, or that one of our number, Bruce, just happened to be wearing a black trench coat that looked a lot like the one David is wearing in the movie. We got back from the movie, went to the campsite and it hit me how much that tree and fire looked like that scene from the movie. Mike decided to take the ATV back to the house that was about a quarter mile away to get some more sodas, and of course, being teenage boys, we decided to prank him and go hide. And while two of us ran into the sunflowers, Bruce climbed that tree. Mike comes back and just by chance stops his ATV directly under Bruce, who proceeds top wrap his legs around the branch he's on and swing down directly in front of Mike's face, hanging upside down with that trench coat waving around like Dracula's cape. Don't think I've ever seen anyone jump that high in my life!
Definitely one of my all time favorite movies. I was 10 the first time I saw it in 1989 - my younger brother and I rented this and Nightmare on Elm Street and we ended up staying up until sunrise for the first time in our lives because we were kinda freaked out. Here’s some cool lore about the movie - 1) the movie was filmed in and around Santa Cruz, CA and it’s famous Beach Boardwalk, but used the fictional name Santa Carla (similar to real nearby town of Santa Clara) because city officials feared that being called the murder capital of the world in the movie could affect tourism, a major part of the local economy. 2) after the first vampire gets staked, you can see David crying a single tear - the vampire contact lenses irritated Kiefer Sullivan’s eyes and this tear just happened to be caught on camera. The director liked it and left it in. 3) Marilyn Manson does a pretty great cover of the main theme song, Cry Little Sister.
It’s a Doors cover by Echo and the Bunnymen, but Ray Manzarek of The Doors produced it and played keyboards in it too. He remained friends with Ian McCulloch of the Bunnymen ‘til his death afaik..
Great reaction To a great movie from the 80's. A Horror Comedy With one of the best soundtrack ever. Here some suggestions for 80's movies. Adventures in Babysitting Overboard Lethal weapon Evil dead 2 Full Metal Jacket Killer Clowns from outer space Leviathan Deep Star six The Karate Kid
Near peak 80s fun this one. And such a great soundtrack, _literally_ wore out the tape playing it. (also, _surely_ a contender for best final line of a movie - grandpa comin' thuu-rough yo :)
From the same year (1987), Angel Heart is a fantastic horror film with a killer cast. It starts off like an old fashioned mystery, then slowly morphs into a horror movie.
The Lost Boys is one of my favourites from the 80s. As a previous comment has mentioned, Fright Night (and its sequel) are two other great, great vampire movies from the 80s that have the same mix of genuine scares and laughs. Also, a fantastic and beautifully shot vampire film from 20 years before this is The Fearless Vampire Killers. It's full of weirdness and eccentricity, but again has a great balance between quirky humour and authentic, atmospheric chills.
Corey Haim popped up on everyone’s radar in the 1986 comedy Lucas (Charlie Sheen, Winona Ryder). After this movie, the two Corey’s were popping up everywhere. They were cute for a minute but their acting roles never matured with age, probably due to drugs and regressed trauma as they went in and out of rehab between movie releases. Coincidently or not both Charlie Sheen and Winona Ryder were also in and out of rehab in-between their movie roles. Hollywood gets the best of some vulnerable people. I’m sure there’s a docudrama out there about the rise and fall of the Two Coreys for anyone interested.
80's movie recommendations: Angelheart, Real Genius. Good Spy/Intelligence movies that are inspired/based on true events: Munich, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Good Shepherd.
Vamp is a solid 80s vampire flick (and seconding Fright Night, which is amazing). Also, The Blob is excellent. The Lost Boys is a great film, plenty of memorable moments and quotes.
Hey y'all, great pick....such a fun 80s film! I saw this at the drive-in in a double feature. You asked for suggestions, here's mine: "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai" & "Maximum Overdrive"!! 😎🤘
Hidden in the movie....when sam kills the vampire with the arrow he says death by stereo. The song playing was actually by the band death by stereo. Another good vampire movie recommended is queen of the damned. Good soundtrack too.
One of my favorite vampire movies. I love the Frog Brothers. I love the ending line of this movie. “One thing I never could stomach about living in Santa Carla. All the dam vampires” That means the grandfather knew the whole time that there were vampires here.
That was a lot of fun, this film is such a product of its time, so iconic. You mentioned An American Werewolf in London at the beginning, can't wait for that reaction. Best Werewolf movie of all time IMO. Happy Halloween guys 🎃👻🕷️🕸️
Okay.. just Subscribed! You guys are a lot of Fun! I actually knew one of the Vampires.. It was the Blonde one. His name is Brooke McCartle. He also produced a pretty famous Promo Video for Corey Haim, the young son in this movie, called Me Myself and I. I also met the director Joel Shumaker back in the 90s.. Such a Classic.. Here's an Awesome 80s underared classic that I know you'll love.. It's called "Less Than Zero" with Jamie Gertz, who was Star in this movie, a young Robert Downey Jr, Andrew McCarthy and James Spader.. Total 80s film with a great ending! Great job, guys!!
_The Hunger_ (1982) is a stylish and different-from-usual take on vampires with David Bowie, Susan Sarandon, and Catherine Deneuve. _Repo Man_ (1984) is a cult-classic sci-fi with Emilio Estevez and Harry Dean Stanton.
“Freebasing” was a very popular way to take drugs in the 80’s, and it mainly involves smoking powdered cocaine, but since cocaine it isn’t able to be smoked as it is, it has to be prepared first. This is from Wikipedia, and can explain better than I can: The free base form of cocaine is prepared from cocaine hydrochloride by extracting the cocaine with an alkaline solution (sodium hydroxide or ammonia) and adding a non-polar solvent such as diethyl ether or benzene. The mixture separates into two layers, the top solvent layer containing the dissolved cocaine.
You beat me to it! I think Jason was underestimated because of his looks, but the man can really act. Case in point: Sleepers, Incognito, and The Alamo.
Iconic movie and soundtrack!! Keifer is in another horror movie called Mirrors you shoud watch for spooky season. I've not seen anyone react to that one.
My favourite 80s vampires movie is The Hunger, but there are other great ones like Near Dark and Fright Night. For something very different, there is Lifeforce, which is based on a book called The Space Vampires.

For more 80's vampire action check out the original Fright Night. It's awesome.
Definitely go with the original too. Not saying the remake wasn't good, but the style of the original is fantastic.
also, "Near Dark". One of my personal favorite Vampire films
I second both of those suggestions! Both are absolute bangers 🙌💯
Fright Night 2 (1988) is a really good sequel. It would have been a hit if the studio didn't screw up.
I can't wait for you two to watch American Werewolf in London. No rush though, it'll keep 😉
You guys need to watch "Licence to Drive" starting Corey's Feldman and Haim. Pure 80s starring the Frog bros.
Loved your reaction to this!
John Carpenter's vampires
Don't think I've ever seen anyone jump that high in my life!
you guys should check out Silver Bullet a 1985 werewolf movie with Corey Haim based on a Steven King book
Tim Capello is an actual sax player he now works with Gunship who did a song about the Lost boys on their second LP the videos cool!
Your channel is phenomenal. ❤️
Definitely one of my all time favorite movies. I was 10 the first time I saw it in 1989 - my younger brother and I rented this and Nightmare on Elm Street and we ended up staying up until sunrise for the first time in our lives because we were kinda freaked out.
Here’s some cool lore about the movie -
1) the movie was filmed in and around Santa Cruz, CA and it’s famous Beach Boardwalk, but used the fictional name Santa Carla (similar to real nearby town of Santa Clara) because city officials feared that being called the murder capital of the world in the movie could affect tourism, a major part of the local economy.
Hope you two are having an great and awesome day ❤
Great reaction To a great movie from the 80's.
A Horror Comedy With one of the best soundtrack ever.
Here some suggestions for 80's movies.
Adventures in Babysitting
Overboard
Lethal weapon
Evil dead 2
Full Metal Jacket
Killer Clowns from outer space
Leviathan
Deep Star six
The Karate Kid
I love Deep Star Six (1988), my favorite of the late '80s deep sea monster flicks, the others being The Abyss (1989) and Leviathan (1989).
Yea, American Wherewolf in London was the very 1st academy award winner for best makeup.
Therewolf
@@misterkite There castle.
It is also the best Werewolf movie ever made.
@misterkite😂😂😂
@@misterkiteomg, 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Jack Bauer was a vampire before he joined the CTU
A vampire in 24 too.. he died twice in the series and lived to tell the tale lol
@@nathieboy1987 It all makes sense now why it was impossible to kill Jack Bauer
Awesome reaction!! Now you must check out Fright Night (1985).
Please do Flash Gordon and Blues Brothers Iconic 80s movies!
David is still the most iconic vampire in my opinion. There hasn't been a cooler vampire since. My favorite movie ever!
Tim cappello,does vocals,sax,keyboard,guitar,drums,and percussion
Jason Patrick, the actor who plays Michael, is also the real life son of Jason Miller, the late star of The Exorcist
Check out the movies The People Under the Stairs(1991), A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge(1985), and Weird Science(1985).
The cover of "People Are Strange", is by Echo and the Bunnymen.
I usually get some backlash for this, but I think their cover is better than the Doors' original.
GREAT reaction! Lots of people pan this movie as a silly cult classic but it's a great mix of horror, comedy, and good action.
“Once Bitten” is a 80s vampire movie with the first appearance of Jim Carrey.
Indeed, the soundtrack it's awesome
I wore through the tape of this soundtrack. Had to buy a second copy. Absolutely one of my top soundtracks ever.
You two have been reliving my '80s childhood, with the exact same appreciation for how geekout-cool these movies were at the time.
“Freebasing” was a very popular way to take drugs in the 80’s, and it mainly involves smoking powdered cocaine, but since cocaine it isn’t able to be smoked as it is, it has to be prepared first.
This is from Wikipedia, and can explain better than I can:
The free base form of cocaine is prepared from cocaine hydrochloride by extracting the cocaine with an alkaline solution (sodium hydroxide or ammonia) and adding a non-polar solvent such as diethyl ether or benzene. The mixture separates into two layers, the top solvent layer containing the dissolved cocaine.
Bit of trivia.. Michael (Jason Patrick) is the son of the actor who played Father Damien Karras, from The Exorcist.
You beat me to it! I think Jason was underestimated because of his looks, but the man can really act. Case in point: Sleepers, Incognito, and The Alamo.
And is the grandson of Jackie Gleason, who’s daughter was married to Jason miller (from the exorcist)
The vampire leader is Kiefer Sutherland, son Of Donald Sutherland who was in the HUNGER GAMES.
one of the best movies to come out of the 80s. i was 7 (1987) when i first saw Lost Boys.
Iconic movie and soundtrack!! Keifer is in another horror movie called Mirrors you shoud watch for spooky season. I've not seen anyone react to that one.
Monster squad is another hidden gem. Not comparing it to The Lost Boys. But it is fun.
My favourite 80s vampires movie is The Hunger, but there are other great ones like Near Dark and Fright Night. For something very different, there is Lifeforce, which is based on a book called The Space Vampires.
There are two sequels to this film. They were made about 10 years later or something. More adventures of the Frog Brothers.
3 o’clock High is my favorite 80’s movie.
