Thats all this movie is. A vehicle and tribute to sexy sax man. Like Serge in Beverly Hills Cop. Everyone else , including Achmed Foley (eddie murphy), is just set dressing.
David is Keifer Sutherland, and is the son of Donald Sutherland (The Invasion of the Body Snatchers), Michael is Jason Patric son of Jason Miller (Father Karras from the Exorcist). The Saxophone Man is Tim Cappello and he played the saxophone and keyboards with Tina Turner.

Corey Haim and Corey Feldman were very well known in the 80s and early 90s and they did a lot of movies together.. Some really good ones was this of course and Licence to Drive to mention some.
Donald is also President Snow in The Hunger Games movies and Merrick from Buffy the Vampire Slayer :)

I was 6 when this came out and watched ìt when I was 7 and loved it. This was the 1st movie to get me into the Vampire, Zombies and horror franchise.
The make up artist, Ve Neil, added glitter to the fake blood so it would shimmer and make the vampires seem more "ethereal"
Ve Neil is truly the fairy godmother of sfx makeup
And then Twilight came along and made it ridiculous.

The Lost Boys has some gorgeous 80s hair-metal dos, but David's platinum and Marco's blonde mullet are fabulous. I still love that Marko was full of glitter for some reason - you can see it all over the Frog Bros as they flee the lair. Lost Boys is the original sparkly vampires 😉
The part where the grandfather uses windex as aftershave always cracks me up.

My favorite vampire film and definitely in my top 10 films of all time, growing up in the 80s makes this so much more special, the nostalgia always makes me feel like a kid again. Corey Haim was my 1st celebrity crush growing up he's so missed ❤

I’d never noticed how the mother was called Lucy! I’m glad you liked that song because obviously they play it so many times. And say Michael over (at least) 100 times I think? You would really enjoy seeing this in the theatre. So fun. And yes very fabulous, I mean that one vampire appears to be imbued with glitter. The little brother is a fashion icon, and considering that poster of Rob Lowe, probably not straight. Again, happy you enjoyed this iconic movie. It really is “a vibe.” I would probably put this in a time capsule if people wanted a slice of the ‘80s.

The vampire member with long, dark hair (Billy Worth) is the same actor that was in The Witch Is Back (the one with Melinda Warren)..
I had SUCH a crush on Billy Worth when I was a teenager, just because of this movie.
I had such a huge crush on Billy Wirth back in the day. Fun fact: He was also a contestant on the first season of American Gladiators. He almost won the whole thing!
Absolutely love the characters and dialogue in this movie, one of my favourites! Have the VHS on my shelf next to me 😝 in the same vain as this movie, I hope you do ‘The Burbs’ with Tom Hanks and Corey Feldman, very similar fun-horror vibe!

Michael is played by Jason Patrick. His father was playwriter Jason Miller who played Father Damien in the OG The Exorcist. And his grandfather was comedian/actor Jackie Gleason (The Honeymooners) from the early days of TV. So that's probably where he got that jawline from.
And the director of the film also famously put nipples on the Batman costume, Joel Schumacher. He was an openly Gay man who's career goes back to working as a script writer with Diana Ross on the movie version of The Wiz. So yeah, very campy.
Tim capello is the name of the singer and saxophone player he was Tina turners sax player
No ones gonna mention an evil Bill S Preston Esq (Not sure if you recognised him, but you might have.) I've seen this movie a few times and never noticed him, but when I did he stands out like a sore thumb. 🤣

Love this horror movie for rewatching over the summer! Having visited the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, this movie always makes me think of it (and it's interesting to see what Santa Cruz and the Bay Area looked in the '80s because it's one of the main filming locations, alongside the nearby Fisherman's Wharf too)! ^^
P.S. Definitely recommend a visit to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, some of the rides shown in opening segment are still there (though they've taken the caveman from the tram ride, and moved him to be a statue to take pics with).

I watch this every Halloween, I love it so much. It's counted as a cult classic for a reason. Great reactions! I watched this for the first time when I was really young, like 10 or so and I thought it was scary, but I've loved it ever since :)

Yes!! I wanted u guys to see this one ! There’s another late 80’s movie with Corey Feldman..also has Tom hanks, Carrie fisher. It’s called “The Burbs”. It’s comedy, action-ish, sorta has some funny scary-ish moments. You two will dig it. Promise

I love this movie bc It was filmed where I grew up in Santa Cruz Ca. I was 16 when it came out. I was a total 80’s & 90’s girl. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to grow up. The Santa Cruz beach boardwalk was a weekly almost daily place to hang out. That and the pier. Thanks for taking me back to my salad days ♥️♥️♥️♥️

You recognized Corey Feldman but do you know his brother Corey Haim (Sam) too? I got to meet Haim at a convention before he died. He was doing well and seemed to be in a good head space. He was kind and lovely. This film means a lot to me, so thanks for reacting to it!

It's about cannibalism, westward expansion, cowardice and a touch of romance!! You'd love it!!
You know, I feel like the finger cross is on the same level as flapping your arms like wings if you fall off a cliff. It's basically a predeath Hail Mary. At the very least, you and the vampire might share a good belly laugh before it eats you, lolol
Nice surprise this reaction. I watched this for the first time when I was too young to understand why it fascinated me but it was an instant favourite. So much style in these vampires and all that yearning and desire. Also just the most Joel Schumacher film. He was given a screenplay with a hetero romance as the instigating moment and yet the film is wall-to-wall homoeroticism.
I LOVVVVVEEE The Lost Boys. It's sooo frickin' good. It's in my top 5, maybe 3, favorite vampire films. The boys, the looks, the cast, the music! Oh my gawd. I love it so much.

Glad u both had so much fun watching the movie I was too young to see it 1st time round in the cinema but I have went to a few of its anniversary celebrations thro the years infact just seen the movie in the cinema last Tuesday as it was in for its 37th anniversary since its release and it was amazing to watch new generations discover this movie for the 1st time, this was also the movie that introduced me to vampires and I have loved vampire movies ever since ❤
Guys you need to watch Twin peaks, then in the movie Kiefer makes a cameo. (David) Twin peaks is a 90s cult classic! It was huge at the time so I don't know if you've seen it or not. He's also in Young guns 1 and 2 (great movies) and another SCI FI horror. Flatliners which was another huge movie. Cry little sister is one of my most fave movie songs of all time. This is also one of my fave vamp movies of all time. They only had 2 CGI moments in the whole movie and the footage around the fairground and Saxophone guy was all real footage. The rest was practical effects. Kiefer said in an interview a couple of scenes were so scary they left them out. I'd love to see a directors cut of it!

This is one of my favorite vampire movies ever, introduced to me as a teenager. Marko, the first vampire to be staked, was my thirst trap and I was crushed he was the first to go. I think of him at times I buy colorful clothes or wear my hair in long curls.

This was filmed in Santa Cruz, CA. Every summer the Santa Cruz Boardwalk plays free movies on the beach. They start the season off with this movie. The first time they did this, they had Corey Feldman's band play before the movie.
The opening scene in Us takes place during the filming of the opening of this movie
@@dklounge7082 US was also partially filmed at the Boardwalk and within Santa Cruz. There's a driving scene that was filmed at my old job. Same with an ending scene in Birdbox. It was interesting to watch the "movie magic" but it was also a pain in the behind for our work flow/business.
I still have the movie soundtrack album somewhere on cassette tape, lol

This was filmed in my town! I recognize a few of the people in the "People are Strange" montage and I live a half-mile from the bridge they dangled from. Also, oiled saxophone guy performed here a year ago!

The Lost Boys is a favorite. When the movie came out I was in middle school and a lot of us went to see it opening weekend. I loved the soundtrack and I still have the cassette.

This is one of my all time favourites, I was 13 when it was released so couldn't see it at cinema but when it came out on vhs me and my friend watched it every night for years!! I finally saw it at the cinema a few years ago for the 30th anniversary and it was even better on the big screen 😊

Interesting that you should mention "Buffy." Kristine Sutherland, who played Buffy's mom, got her last name Sutherland from Keifer Sutherland's father, Donald Sutherland. Donald Sutherland played the Watcher in the 1992 Buffy movie.

I love this movie. I was 17 when this came out and I've probably watched it at least once a year since. lol I can remember just sitting in my college apartment in the dark smoking and listening to this soundtrack. (It was the 80s, what can I say?) Sometimes all of the 80s amazing doesn't translate to younger reactors, but I'm so glad you liked it too!
If you like this you might like Near Dark, a 1987 vampire movie starring several actors from Aliens and directed by James Cameron's ex-wife, Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow. It's an amazing, dark, brutal vampire movie.
