    • @scottwillis5181
      @scottwillis5181 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, continuing, I've had her for 21 years. She started out in a 55 gallon tank and gradually moved up to her 8000 gallon outdoor luxury condopond. Good info but since you have a freshwater fish, I'm assuming the tank has no salt content. Your terrapin may need a saltwater bath occasionally. "Turtle" has had several bouts of shell disease over the years...bacterial "holes" or pits forming on her shell. Just a bath for 1-3 week period in about 50:50 seawater and freshwater should heal the shell. They are brackish water turtles but mine lives normally in freshwater. I also feed heads on frozen shrimp at least twice a week for calcium. Heads on important for nutrients in shrimp head and guts. She needs a male badly...goes a little crazy when it's egg laying time. 😋

    I was given a full grown female red ear slider which is around 10 inches long. She a big girl. I was just given a 10 gal tank with the turtle. I immediately went and bought a backing area and a filter. I’m 15 so that’s all I could afford. Just got paid so when I can get a ride a basking lamps and food and Shrimpies are going to be bought aswell. I’ve been feeding greens and stuff from my garden for now. I am going to save up for a 20 gallon cus that’s all I can put in my room til I move out in 2 years. I feel bad for the little girl but I’m doing my best. Idk how long it’s been since she was able to dry off or swim and see where she’s going so she’s living just clear water and a way to get out. It’s really sad. I’m going to worry about decor and such after getting a decent sized tank and the nessessary things she actually needs.

    Hi The Turtle Girl! I wanted to ask you if you sleep with your filter on or if it is too noisy. I had a filter for my turtles tank but it was very loud and I had to turn it off whilst I slept, but the water got super dirty and basically was useless as when I woke up, even if I turned it on, it didn’t clean the dirty water. Is there anything I should do or should I get a different filter specifically made to make less noise?

    • @BrendaArtist
      @BrendaArtist 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      it highly depends on what kind and brand of filter you are using and how big the pond is you are keeping keeping them in. I have for example a eheim professionel thermo 4+ 350T and it can handle a water amount up to 380 liter. it makes no noise at all. usually a loud filterpomp means there is air inside, or too dirty, the propellor and motor dirty or broken/damaged.

      You can get them from stores like petsmart/petco, or you can find a local fish group on facebook for sale or for free. So I have had my turtle for a couple years but about a year ago I added 2 guppies thinking my turtle would eat them but instead he was afraid of them and he just stayed on his basking rock but now he isn't afraid of them but he doesn't try to chase them either so I thought I could add more but as soon as I put them in their he killed them both lol

    A couple of questions. We have a painted turtle. Do you feed all your turtles in a separate tank then their swimming tank? Second question do you need to give painted turtles a water bowl for drinking? Thank you.

      aquatic turtles eat in the water as they need the water to be able to swallow the food.

    • @BrendaArtist
      @BrendaArtist 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      this can be for various reasons, 1 they are unable to climb onto it, or they are sick and have no strength, the conditions aren't attractive for them.. aquatic turtles need to be able to dry up and take sun baths else they get skin and shield problems which can be deathly

    • @BrendaArtist

      maybe forbidden in your state to sell them? if so you won't be able to get them cross your state border either. aquatic turtles require a whole dedication so be sure you are ready for such task. most people have no clue how to properly taking care of these animals and they die within 10 years but they easily can get 50 years old depending the species.

    • @BrendaArtist
      @BrendaArtist 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Slaymae they need a wide variety of food though. they need fresh vegetables such as andive, chicory, cucumber, duckweed and fruits. other vegetables you have to research first if it's safe for them, some are poisonous and spinach contains nitrite which isn't good for them. some vegetables bind and neutralise calcium and that's bad for them as well as they really need calcium.
      they need Red sticks - Small Sticks (special aquatic turtle sticks)- Shrimp - Calcium worm - Dried fish - Mealworms - Amphipods - Water fleas - Silkworms all dried available - Sepia for vital needed calcium - stomach gravel as they don't have a kneeding stomach, same like birds and no teeths to chew. online there is barely any information about that and I got it from in the Netherlands turtle shelter for abandoned turtles. it makes sense and as soon you added not sharp stomach gravel they eat it so it makes a complete sense. as last Vitamin powder to be sure they get all nutrition. I use it in dried bugs and insects and fish. shaking it with the vitamin powder in a bag. the powder gets into the pores of those bugs and insects and fish. some of that powder gets off as soon you place the food in the water but there is enough in those pores as long you give it regularly. just keep it in a bag and shake before you feed them. Once the food finished in the bag the left over vitamin powder can be reused with the new food. vary the food per time, don't give a mix of all varieties at once as they are picky eaters and will only eat their favourites in such case and missing vital nutrition.

    Hello, if anybody sees this I would appreciate some help with an Axolotl issue that my friend is having. His axolotl is about 2 months old, and about 3 days ago recently started to refuse eating food, and leaves his mouth hanging open. He doesn't float at the top of the tank, he says that he stills moves around the tank a lot. The tips of the gills are turning a little bit darker than usual, and there aren't any signs of the axolotl being stressed. The tank's water levels seem to be fine, and the avg. temp of his tank is about high 60's to low 70's. When he first got the axolotl it was missing a leg, but it's growing back, and it hasn't had any problems up until this point, and there isn't any physical discoloration besides the gills. If anyone can respond ASAP that would be greatly appreciated.

      Do you have appropriate filter ? Do u have beneficial bacteria in the system ? Do you treat your water before using it ? Do you feed it inside the tank ?.
      So many factor for cloudy water and it's hard to tell without proper testing.

      Did you cycle the tank first if no its a bacteria bloom its normal and will go away but if you keep changing water you will just reset it leave it for a week or so and it should go away.
      If it happens again clean the glass and drain 50% save some tank water to wash the filter so you don't reset it again.

    this is off topic from the video but i really need some help! i have 2 turtles and i got them both in june from the same place, they are babies but one seems to be growing much faster and much bigger than the other. at first i suspected that the bigger one was a girl so i wasn’t really worried, but then i started to notice how the smaller turtle gets frightened very easily from simple little things .. i looked it up online and it said it could be due to not eating as much as it should be. i’m not worried that maybe the bigger turtle is eating all the little turtles food and he is not getting enough. i’m really considering buying a new tank and moving one of the turtles.. would that be my best option?
