I remember TH-cam on the 3ds, i still have the app (no longer functional of course), but i used to walk around watching episodes of death note uploaded in 3 parts, absolutely the worst way to watch death note but somehow exactly the right way. Buying eShop games last minute, this video really hits me. Especially since I basically accidentally bought the entire Ace Attorney series available on the 3ds. Not my fault they were selling 30$ games at 3 bucks a pop.
I believe the reason why badge arcade wasn't hated as much (or at least the reason that applies to me) was how the game would reward you with free plays after catching badges in the daily training mode & the fact thay they give you free plays every day after it got its last update. and, fun fact, the reason why they stopped updating it is because the game would genuinely not run if they added any more badges into the code. that is impressive
Yeah, they said that they reached some sort of size limit. But man, if that limit wasn't there, then imagine! Guess choosing FAT32 as their filesystem did end up hurting them in the long run! For context, FAT32's biggest limit is that any file cannot take up more than 4 GB. So a 5 GB file cannot happen, But if I did some stuff to split it into a 3 GB file and a 2 GB file, it would work.
Badge Arcade was the coolest thing ever for me back then and it was an awesome way to personalize your 3ds. I hope Nintendo does more fun stuff like this one day.

pocket card jockey is a highly underrated title and it truly is a tragedy that the eShop closure has forced it to remain trapped within apple arcade, a fate worse than death
The conclusion of this video is sad, but pretty accurate. I really didn't appreciate either console's E-shop enough. I mean, I had my reasons during the time the E-shops were at their height: I was going through a tough time in my life, it wasn't convenient for me to put money on the shops, and I just kinda went through a period of time where I was losing interest in video games until 2019 pulled me back in. And really, even before Scott said it, that's what I'd taken most from this past year (in which I've also done my own E-shop retrospectives on another platform) - that I wish I had given these more time and attention while they were alive.
Honestly one of my favorite 3ds eshop game was Terraria, which unlike Minecraft took advantage of the fact that it was on a device that had multiple screens.

Scott's skit/'lore' videos are the kind that if you miss even two minutes you have not a clue as to what's happening and have to rewind at least five minutes of it (I would know, I'm drawing as I watch this and have had to replay multiple parts (don't get me wrong though that's one of the things I love about his videos just the sheer randomness and chaos of it all))
I like how Scott made it a point in his Gamecube video that Luigi's Mansion came out after Halloween and should have themed the game around the next holiday. It would have been hilarious if he themed this video around George Rogers Clark Day instead.
I never knew that holiday existed
Oh hell yes almost 2 hours of Scott? Yes please

I remember TH-cam on the 3ds, i still have the app (no longer functional of course), but i used to walk around watching episodes of death note uploaded in 3 parts, absolutely the worst way to watch death note but somehow exactly the right way. I also remember my brother waking me up to download an anniversary LoZ four swords thing, i still have it too but i barely play it. It was really fun though! Probably my favorite things I've got from the 3ds eshop
Oh and style savvy!! I love that game, I've always loved fashion oriented games but it makes me so sad that it was virtual only. I got it for christmas 2020-ish, and i still play it. Players were still regularly online a few days before the eshop closed even!! I found a hentai shirt made by a user for 5000 dollars (most user creations are 250 max) just days before it closed. Absolutely a relic
Nowadays Scott doesn't just discuss games, and comission awesome animations...
He also learns gamer life lessons too.
If you look closely, you'll see that he's learned the most important lesson of all...
It's always okay and morally correct to pirate Nintendo content!
I have no idea why, but my imagination for Scott’s Gamer Life Lessons just cut to him holding a Genesis Controller yelling,
“What the FUCK is a Jump Button???”
Jared reminded me of someone on Always Sunny and he was great!
I love how the characters in that show develop.
It makes me so happy to see Scott talk about Rhythm Heaven Megamix like this, even if it's in a two hour-long compilation of other eShop titles. More people need to play Megamix, dangit!

With long videos like these, it’s safe to say that scott officially has his own cinematic universe, the WCU (Wozniak Cinematic Universe)
So a 5 GB file cannot happen,
But if I did some stuff to split it into a 3 GB file and a 2 GB file, it would work.
Badge Arcade was the coolest thing ever for me back then and it was an awesome way to personalize your 3ds. I hope Nintendo does more fun stuff like this one day.
it would be so cool if you could have homebrew stickers
holy shit you can
@@cyanified i have custom fumo and pride flag stickers on my 3ds its pretty neat
Hey Scott, just wanted to say that it's totally okay that this video is eight days late! I'm personally still munching on Halloween candy, so for me, Halloween hasn't quite ended yet. The amount of time and effort that you've been putting into your videos this year has been amazing to see, and in my opinion, it's worth it! Scott releasing an almost 2 hour long video on the newly deceased Eshop is the best late gift to get in my candy bag.
The amount of time you spend off camera setting up for a 5 second gag is stupidly impressive 😂
1:48:04 - 1:49:29 After the Eshop shutting down, this hits harder now
23:56 Can we just appreciate that Scott actually got ringworm for a one second gag?
ikr this man is insane
Scott is literally the only person i know who can talk about nintendo for two hours straight and not it be boring
Fr. I don't even like Nintendo all that much as a company & only have nostalgia for the N64 & GBA eras
Terraria is just good.
My only gripe about 3DS Terraria is that the New 3DS C-Stick doesn't just act as an aim thing instead of moving the camera.
1:47:31 honestly the most sane and reasonable reaction in the entire series
Best scene ever
I remember watching the dinosaur office videos over and over again as a kid. They were so fun.
I dunno, there’s just something about hearing Scott quick review games that’s nice to listen to. He always touches on them just enough, and then moves on.
2:58 I love how to properly convey a post-apocalyptic landscape that’s been bombed multiple times, he just shows Ohio.
I love how nobody noticed how Scott made Gex in Pushmo, he is legendary
He may not be the guy we deserved…but goddamn it he’s the guy we need right now
I'm the one guy who loved Denpa Men as a kid. It was insanely fun to play it on bus rides home, trying to catch ones that I couldn't find at home. It made for an okay RPG, a 3/5, at best.
Incredible how this contains more mentions of Boxboy than scott's life before and after this video.
Best eShop(s) snapshot/history lesson I’ve ever seen. If your thinking about purchasing any eShop titles and still have funds in your account watching this vid will definitely help with your purchase choices. Very well done
21:58 In all honesty The Denpa Men series are really underrated full-fledged great RPGs. It's not for everyone i imagine but they're so worth it imo

I'm a DS Lite guy, but my little sister's first console was the 3DS, and she LOVED the SwapNotes app! (In french it was actually called Boîte aux lettres Mii) She would spend a lot of time drawing there or sending notes to the teacher Nikki lol So it felt nostalgic hearing about it!
The uncombined wallets at the beginning of the Wii U's eShop was extremely aggravating. There would be times where I'd have money left over from points cards on one system and couldn't use it to purchase an exclusive on the other.

@@horseeatsdogfood5721 sorry to break it to you but failing the test once is not at all a standard, at least not where I'm from. I agree it's no big deal but realistically a driver's test should be a formality since you should know how to drive before attempting to be licensed

There was so much underrated stuff on the 3DS, it's actually kinda insane.
I remember back in middle school when my friend had a Wii U because it was something different as a brand new console that matches Nintendo switch before it came out and it was so fun, super Mario bros, splatoon, Zelda and Batman was THAT good in terms of graphics. But I still had a Nintendo Ds and also a Psp go because it’s like the earlier version of the switch where you can connect your Av HDMI cords to the tv while taking it on the go.

I’ve recently been bulk-buying digital Wii U and 3DS games in preparation for the upcoming shutdown, and this video did a great job highlighting some of the gems I missed. That includes digital versions of retail games I couldn’t get physical copies of. It’s almost funny how Nintendo refuses to put many of their games on sale even when the console is literally on its deathbed.
