@@audoodle9963 Kirby & The Forgotten Land is easily my 2022's Game of the Year. Followed by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge at #2 and Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope being at # 3.
It is kind of objectively the lightest year for Switch, though, in terms of game releases excluding games that were technically third-party. Triangle Strategy and Live A Live were both only published by Nintendo outside of Japan, and have since come to multiple platforms. Bayonetta 3 was funded by Nintendo, had EPD figures involved with producing the game, and was published by them everywhere, so I'd count it, but it is from a third-party IP. And then Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope was published by Ubisoft everywhere except for Japan, while for Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, Koei Tecmo actually published it in Japan. So if you remove every fringe case, they only had 9 releases, and at most, I think you can say they had 11 (with Bayonetta and FEW). 2024 has had 11 excluding Fitness Boxing 3, without Nintendo stepping in to publish games like Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake. 2024 does feel quieter overall - smaller games, no real exclusive third-parties outside of Super Monkey Ball - but 2022 was pretty light when it came to Nintendo's actual output using their IPs.

Respect your craft Scott. The dedication and effort is admirable too. I love watching your content because you have a genuine interest in video games that reveres the art form and medium.
"Not a lot of people talk about Radiant Dawn." If only Scott was more in tune with what's going on with Fire Emblem games. Fans really want it and Path of Radiance to be re-released on modern platforms.
Skyward Sword was mostly alright, and I'd say I like it except for a couple things, with a big thing that prevented me from ever wanting to play it again, is on my second play through, the harp did not want to work properly. The remote was just being extremely jank and made it almost impossible to get past the mandatory parts. Then there's the optional stuff involving the harp I couldn't do, making it a Zelda game that it was physically impossible for me to 100% on the Wii. Supposedly you don't require motion controls on the Switch version, but I just don't feel like sinking more money into the game.
I don't know what Scott was going on about how people can't say it's a good game when I can say it's mediocre at best. The game has next to no exploration, it's overly linear it even compared to Twilight Princess, it's ridiculous easy, there's legit one good dungeon and that's Ancient Cistern (the rest range from decent to bad), it removed a bunch of great stuff from Twilight Princess like being able to swing your sword while running, the finnicky controls at no point feel like second nature, and it's padded to shit. He was saying that game having dozens upon dozens of hours like it was a good thing when it isn't, the game is padded to the brim with mundane, repetitive sidequests that make the player go through all regions three times each. For a while i never understood why i was so exhausted by the end of the game, but it's the padding that causes that. It was so bad that i took like a month break to actually finish it. The game is everything wrong with 3D Zelda games and it's no surprise Breath of the Wild is the way it is.
You say that Super Mario Odyssey doesn’t have much replay value, which is fair, but when I bothered to replay it in 2023, it got 10x better for me. It’s on par with Galaxy for me now.
It's super replayable, just not if you're going for 100% every time. The second time I played it, I was happy to put it down after beating the Darker Side of the Moon. After that point, the remainder of the moons start to feel like a grind.
city folk is overhated (it was my childhood game so im nostalgic) because it's similar to wild world, but it's precious to me, but i literally cannot stand to play it again because it makes me so nostalgic (even seeing the game cover makes me want to burst into tears lol)
The Mario overload in 2023 was largely because of the Mario Movie. They wanted to ride the Mario hype train while they could. May also be the reason Mario Wonder felt rushed in some places.
Donkey Kong Country, Donkey Kong Country 2, Donkey Kong Country 3, Diddy Kong Racing, Donkey Kong 64, Donkey Kong Country Returns, all holiday titles and then... Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze was due for November, then delayed to December, then delayed again to February... And we never got a new Donkey Kong game ever again.
Always a good day when Scott uploads a movie to Scott's stash. I will share my personal experience and opinion about Animal Crossing city Folk: i grew up playing the gamecube Animal Crossing game with my siblings and absolutely loved it. When City Folks released on Wii, not only were we looking forward to it so much, but it was pretty game changing in our eyes. I would say it is important to note that going from the Gamecube to the Wii is significant, you could play online at friends worlds or bring friends to your worlds which was new for Nintendo and Animal Crossing on consoles. There really was a ton of content in the game aswell and added on way more progression on top of what we were used to in the GC game. Just my personal experience
The problem with bdsp it wasn’t even developed by game freak themselves it was sourced out to and developed by ilca who’s only contribution to Pokemon is Pokemon home
Nah, the problem is that BDSP doesn't do anything new. It's a pretty good remake of DP, but DP weren't good, people seem to only remember Platinum when talking about Gen 4
@ I mean think about it, BDSP isn’t hated because of any changes, those were kept minimal to the point that even the artstyle was kept the same. BDSP is hated because it was kinda boring. The good part of gen 4 that everyone remembers is Platinum.

We called holiday titles as Fall or Winter blockbuster titles like with Call of Duty, Battlefield, Assassin’s Creed, that are released during that season to generate sale numbers for the gaming company!
12:25 I think they release a lot of party games in October cause the 2 major family holidays are right after. So for family gatherings and friends that celebrate together, they can have a copy of the latest mario game for everyone to play? At least that’s what I think Nintendo hopes to happen
19:46 Couldn't agree more. I got to a point in Age of Calamity where I was just grinding for materials and I didn't give a crap about the DLC if it was more of the same.
i remember 3 years ago when scott was like “metroid dread is finally here, and it’s… good.” what happened between then and now?! well, i guess he played it some more
It’s a Pokémon game, and that always means a baseline level of fun. But it was very clearly pushed out, and it wasn’t even a minuscule of what it could have been. Plus, it reused a lot of the code from the originals. Think about that. A $60 switch game is reusing assets from 15 years ago.
I actually want to get it because I like the idea of being able to play the 4th generation of Pokemon and be able to transfer the Pokemon to Home and beyond. I always have fun with Pokemon games. They're sort of guilty pleasure comfort games for me regardless of the quality of the visuals. The gameplay and content is always solid.
i'd love to see the concept of "holiday releases" as a main channel video, or maybe something like seasonal content? the year 2000 dlc for the original sonic adventure comes to mind, or the present drops from enemies in terraria
Idk, I liked Mario RPG more than TTYD to be honest, if you are gonna talk about boring there are a lot of chapters of TTYD where you barely do anything gameplay wise or do annoying backtracking, very charming in many cases but very boring when it comes to fun, while Mario RPG is just nonstop fun gameplay and also charm.
I’ve never played mario rpg and was thinking about getting the remake but got ttyd instead. I still wanna play it though, cus i’ll be honest the ttyd remake is PAINFUL to replay. It sucks too cus i love the game, but that text speed is no joke what makes replaying it a pain💔
I'm the complete opposite. I liked TTYD way more than Super Mario RPG. Maybe it's because I played TTYD first before Mario RPG. But Mario RPG is way too predictable & easy from my liking and at best the story & character are average in terms of being memorable and at worst, it's not as complex or intriguing as other Mario RPG series has. Heck. Even Paper Mario 64 & Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle has more of them than Super Mario RPG. Also the level segments in Super Mario RPG is more linear than TTYD has. So why does that get an pass?
pokémon scarlet and violet weren’t just “poorly running games,” they ran so atrociously that it caused NINTENDO to offer REFUNDS and for the pokémon company to re evaluate their release schedule it was _that bad_
They genuinely damaged the entire reputation of the Switch as a console by becoming the poster child for "the Switch can't run games anymore." You had people talking about Xbox 360/PS3 era games like Sonic Generations as if they couldn't function on Switch
The key feature of the Switch was that in table top mode you could hand someone a joycon and play a 2 player game. After the lockdown I've noticed Nintendo increased marketing for their online subscriptions (subscriptions bundled with games). This holiday season I could see Nintendo offering an OLED Switch Choose One Bundle (at retail price) similar to last years Red Box Switch Choose One Bundle. The choices this winter season would be: Mario Party Jamboree, Echoes of Wisdom, and...
In defense of Age of Calamity, the soundtrack f**king rocks and is super underrated and this game gave us a lot more time with the characters we never really got the chance to know too well
I have no what what people are yapping about with that game. It's probably the best story in a Zelda game outside of the unique ones like Link's Awakening and Majora's Mask. Master Kohga is a top tier character.
14:07 so fun fact, they're actually the ds games with a new coat of paint, literally, turns out they pretty much have the same code as the og releases of diamond and pearl even having the same softlock on the ice gym than the og games had, because they were the exact same thing

Respect your craft Scott. The dedication and effort is admirable too. I love watching your content because you have a genuine interest in video games that reveres the art form and medium.
1:17:30 ANOTHER Shadows of Almia mention?! In MY Scott's Stash video?!
My night has once again been blessed.
Thank you Scott, you’re really helping me feel better right now
Hope your life improves
@@SiliconSlyWolf So much padding.
This makes me glad I got the Switch version.
@@okagron you lost me when you said the game was easy and that Ancient Cistern was the only good dungeon. You're a BOTW shill.
Glad to see Nintendo definitely knows how to deliver with their holiday titles
city folk is overhated (it was my childhood game so im nostalgic) because it's similar to wild world, but it's precious to me, but i literally cannot stand to play it again because it makes me so nostalgic (even seeing the game cover makes me want to burst into tears lol)
thoughts in the other animal ctossing games?
i love these long videos of scott just rambling, my favorite companion to put on the background
What the hell, i loved Super Mystery Dungeon
The Mario overload in 2023 was largely because of the Mario Movie. They wanted to ride the Mario hype train while they could. May also be the reason Mario Wonder felt rushed in some places.
i honestly thought he was gonna be like “oh wait i forgot another title for 2015” and it’s Chibi-Robo Zip Lash
huge missed opportunity
0:00 My pet goat giving me a Christmas present:
Huh?
Donkey Kong Country, Donkey Kong Country 2, Donkey Kong Country 3, Diddy Kong Racing, Donkey Kong 64, Donkey Kong Country Returns, all holiday titles and then... Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze was due for November, then delayed to December, then delayed again to February... And we never got a new Donkey Kong game ever again.
Wow 23 seconds old, so glad to be here.
54:23 Scott having a Shiny Weedle named NICE BUG feels right.
"Age of clamtitties"
This was a fun little video. I'd definitely be down for a part 2.
We need a sequel covering every year prior to 2006 NOW!!
Definitely make more of these. This was a great video
Mario Party is consistently in our kids' Christmas Eve box, and it's what we all play together over Christmas / New Year instead of Monopoly.
@@Crafty_boy70DP weren't good? That's a hot take and a half!
@ I mean think about it, BDSP isn’t hated because of any changes, those were kept minimal to the point that even the artstyle was kept the same. BDSP is hated because it was kinda boring. The good part of gen 4 that everyone remembers is Platinum.
1:23:50: "Who the hell is talking about battalion wars these days"
Me, remembering I put on hold the script for a video about the entire Nintendo wars series, including the battalion wars games: 😅
We called holiday titles as Fall or Winter blockbuster titles like with Call of Duty, Battlefield, Assassin’s Creed, that are released during that season to generate sale numbers for the gaming company!
Christmas came early today!
SANTA BROUGHT IT EARLY
3:56: I thought the exact same thing! Thats crazy!🤣
Love your vids my guy! Keep up the great work!
12:25 I think they release a lot of party games in October cause the 2 major family holidays are right after. So for family gatherings and friends that celebrate together, they can have a copy of the latest mario game for everyone to play? At least that’s what I think Nintendo hopes to happen
The fact that Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope released on my birthday is something I'll have to live with for the rest of my life.
Scott, what do you like about Pokémon Scarlet and Violet besides it being open world?
It's borderline criminal how forgotten Magical Starsign has become at this point.
This used to be a proper Scott channel!
Not even 100 minutes? Come on Scott you can rant for more
Scott sounds like a goat at the very beginning
I have no idea how Scott manages to put out as much content as he does.
2024 : Alarmo.
19:46 Couldn't agree more. I got to a point in Age of Calamity where I was just grinding for materials and I didn't give a crap about the DLC if it was more of the same.
57:53 “highest quality pile of shit” is going to be my phrase going forward for describing many games
the general consensus is that pokemon ranger is an underappreciated gem :O
i remember 3 years ago when scott was like “metroid dread is finally here, and it’s… good.” what happened between then and now?!
well, i guess he played it some more
“some people liked brilliant diamond” I have a ton of pokemon fan friends and NONE OF THEM like those remakes lmao
I liked it. That game was VERY overhated.
Hence the wording ‘some’
I had a fun time with Brilliant Diamond. The QOL features make it my preferred version of the game
11:50 very foreseeable past
i'd love to see the concept of "holiday releases" as a main channel video, or maybe something like seasonal content? the year 2000 dlc for the original sonic adventure comes to mind, or the present drops from enemies in terraria
Implying TTYD doesn't have fun gameplay and a ton of charm.
pokémon scarlet and violet weren’t just “poorly running games,” they ran so atrociously that it caused NINTENDO to offer REFUNDS and for the pokémon company to re evaluate their release schedule
it was _that bad_
They genuinely damaged the entire reputation of the Switch as a console by becoming the poster child for "the Switch can't run games anymore." You had people talking about Xbox 360/PS3 era games like Sonic Generations as if they couldn't function on Switch
I wouldn't mind a port of Link between World for the Switch. It's so good 😊😊😊
Hey Ya’ll Sean here
Thank you
Sean, my son, my child, did you brush your teeth before bed like a good boy?
Hey Sean, all here
@@lifespanofafry1534I took Sean's teeth.
Mario & Luigi: Brothership is this year's Holiday title.
Can’t forget Flingsmash, released in early November. Definitely the greatest Holiday Title Nintendo pushed out
Excellent video! Go all the way back to the original nintendo launch!
I swear, Scott's gonna talk about Nintendo Apparel next.
14:07 so fun fact, they're actually the ds games with a new coat of paint, literally, turns out they pretty much have the same code as the og releases of diamond and pearl even having the same softlock on the ice gym than the og games had, because they were the exact same thing
And imfamous glitches from the og game such as the bike one even still work
Reason number #5913 that BDSP is an awful mess.
I'm pretty sure Kirbys RTDL Deluxe has more new code than BDSP.
You are validating all of my Nintendo purchases for the last 6 years 😅❤
6 years?! Please, try 16 😅😅
Perfect opening. I asked for that for Christmas lol.
sorry to hear that
Scott is the GOAT
Scott, you're NOT an RPG guy!
Just realize how scott pronouces Pokémon as "POKOMON"
