Everyone from science team was eliminated due to severe mental instability and urge to collect Madden game copies

and as you can probably tell, that experiment went horribly, horribly wrong within the next few years.
It’s genuinely a miracle that Scott actually grew up to like video games when there’s like 5 good games in a 2 hour video
It's crazy what you're willing to deal with as a kid.
Like I owned a bunch of games as a kid. Probably more good games then scott did... But I also owned games like Zoop and spiderman and X-men arcades revenge which were not good games in the least (well, arcade's revenge ain't good. I dunno what the general opinion on Zoop is but I never liked it ) but I still popped them in plenty 'cause I owned them so I might as well play them. I could delete my file in A Link to the Past and probably get more outta it then space football or lethal weapon but I still popped those games in from time to time despite never enjoying them.
And honestly, it seems like most of the "bad games" that scott had were just bland and mediocre. Meanwhile I also owned an atari 2600 and while I did have plenty of good games on that like Ms. Pacman and River Raid... I also owned E.T. so I don't think scott did that bad with his childhood collection lol.
I have it on good authority that Scott doesn't like video games.

@@aniyilator Eh. If I remember correctly, I got it alongside Q*bert, Frogger, and Yars revenge at goodwill. I think they were some of the last atari games I got. As a kid I thought Yars Revenge was broken every time I played it, but Q*bert was decent and Frogger's always great so not all was lost.
I also own like, 2 copies of the atari port of Pacman which I actually despise more than E.T. At least E.T. had an excuse for being garbage...

Well, this gonna be probably Scott the Woz and WiiU's toxic relationship. But yeah, would be cool see him playing more games when he starts collecting them
honestly just a deep dive into the history of how he got his whole game collection from this point to now (he already does share all new purchases on nintendo switch made but it'd be nice to get to hear about stuff he plays on other consoles) that a trilogy or something else such as a special or even a little scotts stash minimal editing type longform commentary would be a great video.(its late i can't sleep so i forget how many episodes there are.)

@@bobbyshewan4229I feel like Scott’s justification of “I liked SpongeBob so that’s what people got me” was very similar to my own experience, except I liked Star Wars so as a kindergartner in 2003 I got Star Wars bounty Hunter, rogue squadron 2, and Star Wars clone wars (the vehicle combat sim one not based on the series), and later on Star Wars battlefront and KOTOR (which alongside the gbc dragon quest ports of all things taught me how to read). Can’t help but feel I lucked out liking Star Wars at that time in my life.

How Scott became a gamer is a miracle based off his first 5 years of games
It was driving me kinda crazy how different his and my experiences as early gamers where, considering I'm only 9 months older than him, my first videogame console was an n64 on the year 2000 with mario 64, mario party 2 and mario kart 64.
I had aaa lot of mario games growing up, maybe because my dad used to enjoy super mario brothers and duck hunt when he was in his 20ties

Then it was mario bros deluxe on my Gba, then my first home console was the playstation with crash 3, Spyro 3, CTR, and an old booklet of games from a car boot sale. Die hard, Doom, James Bond.
I am no person like him, if I stepped into a series and tried the bad entry, my temper didn't allow me to retry another one within 3 years. I am just too careful, not bold enough to purchase something that might be risky. But still I am the same kind of person like him, I would be sad if I purchased Ds Browser software with no home wifi setup

Incredibly bad math jokes aside, I think the confusion stems from Scott having mentioned a male cousin (as used "he") that he played with multiple times, but obviously he can have multiple cousins. And considering how much he must've absorbed the virginity of those around him, his uncles and aunts must have had a lot of sex over the years.
Scott had a more varied childhood than mine.
Back then, all i knew was Mario or Sonic because that's all my mom got me.
The only reason i branched out to other games as a kid was due to Super Smash Bros Melee introducing me to other games, and that was only because Mario was on the cover.

I'm so glad I had actually good games growing up. Amazing PC games (Age of Empires 2, Warcraft 2, Half Life, Call of Duty 2, Command and Conquer Red Alert, and many more) and many console/handheld games equally amazing. This is video expose makes me feel blessed tbh.

Its very cute but also big only child energy, only children gotta entertain themselves. Parents can't just yell go outside and play with your siblings when they didn't provide any. The parents also have more money to spend making the kid more "spoiled" and toy rich.

I love how it took Scott like his whole childhood to realize that “Hey! The home console and Portable editions are probably vastly different!”
It's also genuinely fascinating to see how even afterwards, he'd insist on getting the console and portable versions of specific licensed games. Feels very fitting with the kinds of videos he's interested in making.

I had that as a kid on Gamecube growing up, along with Zoocube, The Spongebob Movie Game, SSX Tricky, THPS4, Simpsons Hit and Run, and others. Pacman World 2 left such a damn impact on my childhood that I purposely bought another copy of it on eBay later on. Great game!

I can’t explain how happy with nostalgia I got when he talked about the DS and Wii. So many childhood memories flashed into my brain all at once and, I hate to say it, but it was magical to relive all of it in that way. 100%ing New Super Mario Bros several times given it was the first game I ever played, playing Mario Kart DS multiplayer with family friends that were my age near the pool during our annual trip to Lake Geneva, 100%ing New Super Mario Bros Wii with my Grandpa when my grandparents lived with my parents for a couple years after the recession, mastering every stage in Mario Kart Wii with the Wii Wheel except for Bowser’s Castle because I was scared of the mecha Bowser, playing Big Brain on DS with my sister, Raving Rabbids TV Party just being such a funny game to experience especially in multiplayer with friends, loving Wii Sports Resort when I played it with my neighbor but sadly never owning it, and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games being so much better than it had any right to be along with it’s soundtrack just being flat out sublime and imo, the most underrated soundtrack in video game history. I had a smile on my face for almost a full hour straight reliving all of this. Thank you Scott. ❤
For me it was when he talked about the Gameboy Advance. I remember my dad buying me one in first grade. It's so nice to having a TH-cam channel of someone who talks about gaming history and was born around the same time as me. I like channels like the Video Game Historian but their video game experience growing up was of a different era. Scott grew up in my era, and we experienced the same world. When he talks, I remember being a child. It's magical.

I find it neat that Sonic 2 had such a hold on you because I was born in '89 and I remember gettng Sonic 2 as my very first game as a four year old kid on a Genesis that my dad bought originally for himself with Sonic 2, Evander Holyfield's Heavyweight Boxing and Madden 94.

In my case, i'm from a spanish speaking country, but a lot of the games i got were in english, so i didn't understood shit and got stuck a lot in games that weren't simple like guitar hero and Tony Hawk lol

Happened with me too. I needed help getting out of the starting towns in Pokemon. Though I did manage to make it far in pure platforming games like Mario. I guess I just didn't read as a kid.
@@cubedmelons876 Considering how I didn't know how to SAVE in Pokemon for the first couple of days, i have no idea how I got through the rest of the game. I'm pretty sure it took me hours to stumble around trying to figure out what to do with Pokemon Tower.

Finally got a cheap PS2 years later and it came with Ico and Battlefront 2- whether or not the person you're buying from has taste is probably what determines most kids' taste

@theharvardyard2356 It's kind of weird to think about. I didn't really go after licensed games like that. I got A Bug's Life on PS1 when it was new and I was 8, but I still mostly went after the straight game properties growing up.
The cursed Operation Krabby Patty cutscenes just unlocked a core memory for me and I can't tell if I'm happy about it or disgusted.
I always thought I missed out on so many great games in my childhood compared to what my friends had, but after seeing the games Scott grew up with, I feel like Tyler from My Retro Life in comparison.
That Scott grew up with so many crappy games and yet still loves video games so much means he's a gamer at heart.
