To me, the greatest problem is that Eren can apparantly also manipulate Titans in the past...which should make it possible to find a better solution when you have this kind of time travel powers.
He can control titans in past and make one of them avoid Bertholdt, his enemy, but not make his colossal titans leave hange, his friend, alone, in PRESENT. Their death wasn't even necessary
Historia's arc and her entire character was unnecessary to be honest. She was brought into the story outta nowhere, she was meant to be nothing more than a figure-head Monarch, and she played that role exactly, so who she marries or has a child with is reallynot matter even worthy of discussion. We already have Zeke Jaeger, who besides being the MC's half-brother, had more reasons to be in the story. He was more than enough to play the part of the royal blood titan shifter, needed to activate the Rumbling. Isayama really messed up.

Wheres Eren and Armin atleast had their respective roles and characters distinct from everyone else, they had their own parts that none other can play. Historia isn't comparable to them, they were the Protagonist and deuteragonist of the story, while she was just another side character meant to play her role for that particular Arc (Overthrowing the fake govt. And reclaiming her position as the Monarch) that showed her character progression, it developed and then her role concluded (from an unknown girl to the queen) all her character motivations resolved. As for moving the main story forward to its finale, Zeke was the only one necessary.

Just wanna clarify why Eren's mother's death does makes sense, There been many sense that seemed like plot, Like in ep 5 when the titan swallowed Eren but forgot to chew, What Eren's mother plot twist shows that Eren had the founder's power since the beginning, Every scene that seemed like a plot isnt a plot hole anymore, why? Since Eren had the power from the beginning he stopped that santa titan for chewing him, Why he even let himself being eaten in the first place? Just so younger Eren could learn about his powers, Eren was wounded matter of fact he was missing an arm and a limb which fills the criteria of making an injury, The second thing which was needed was motivation and a reason to turn into a titan, Eren was quite motivated to exterminate titans which fulfilled the second criteria... If thats the case then why didn't he committed rumbling in the first ep? Why didn't he stopped titans from entering? Its just like what he said "I tried again and again but the results kept getting worse" Maybe in some timeline he did those things but he wasn't satisfied with the outcome, Eren's mother's death played a vital role, Giving Eren the motivation to keep moving forward, Yes Eren was motivated from the start but that was to see the outside world, Seeing his mother die in front of him filled him with the rage and hate against titans, To give you an ex in s1 one of the last ep , Eren's mother's death was the catalyst that made Eren transform, Before that he didn't had neither enough courage of motivation to even stand up, Each and every course of action that has ever happened in the story resulted to outcome we saw in the anime and thats what eren wanted a slight change and the entire timeline would change , Hope that clears it all.

@@Mael_07_Sunshine eren gave her a choice, which is why he was given these powers. she was very much frustrated at the world, and did not love the king. she didn't actually do it because she cared for the king, she did it because she wanted to be loved herself. the reason she freed those pigs is that she had empathy towards them because she ,was a slave. as a slave no one even reacted to her existence unless it was giving her orders. so by her nature she answers the orders given by the ruler. but the thing is that she couldn't break free of this effect even thousands of years later, the life of slavery has given her the mindest of a slave who will obey. the king is also the only living being that responded to her existence, which is the closest thing to love she ever had, the said feeling is something she wanted to feel so much she'd attempt to get it from him. so why did eren say its because she loved him, if what she actually wanted was love itself? he has the same problem. under the opposite circumstances. he is in a way a part of ymir's desire to be free, and loved. why did he suddenly care for it you might ask as well, since he didn't care for mikasa or anything that resembles love towards anything but brotherly love and his mother's. well, there are a few reasons. the main one is that he saw the outside world. when armin has shown him what is outside of it, he started to dream of a better life, and start to feel like cattle. so he didn't care about anything else, until he understood it wasn't worth it. his dream was nothing but a fantasy and what's worse is that he realized he's going to die, being known as a psycho who murdered most of humanity. with the only people who knew him trying to kill him, with mikasa being succesful. eren started to see mikasa diffrently because he started to see his life diffrently, he knew he was going to die, and that in 4 years he's dead anyway. its why he started to see mikasa that way, why he became afraid of death unlike before. there's a lot more to it but if you actually read anything I hope I made it clear.

i liked the part when armin had a crush on the girl that could turn into a giantess who, y'know, killed some of his friends, his squad, his colleagues and almost killed his friend and a whole city. in armin's mind: "so, annie, y'know when you crushed my teammates to death? i was like, totally imagining myself being crushed under your titan feet".
But on the bright side, Attack on Titan made the ending of Code Geass MUCH BETTER in comparison. Now I'm really glad I watched Code Geass before Attack on Titan.

Isayama stated that he originally wanted to illustrate something similar to the movie the mist but he changed his ending to avoid a traumatic conclusion, the only way Isayama can save his series is through an AoT video game based on branching storytelling showing multiple endings including his real one.

there seems to be a theme of forgiving unremorseful mass murderers through out the story. The entire alliance (mainly jean) absolutely cooks reiner for when he attacked paradis as the armoured titan and jean stomps him halfway to death while with annie, they just go "Oh annies back" and completely forget about how she decimated the levi sqaud and used a soldier as a yoyo with out a shred of remorse and didn't have to face ANY consequences for her actions by sealing herself inside a crystal and having the best sleep of her life for 4 years, while reiner on the other hand wants to die at any given moment and views himself as sub human trash, it gets to the point where he attempts to blow his own brains out but "NoOoO, Annie's BeEn ThRoUgH enOugH AlReaDy" another thing that just kinda bugged me was that the alliance didn't really change their views towards eren, sure they were trying to kill him, but when ever they spoke about him, they spoke about him like a friend that picked up gambling again rather then a psychotic mass murderer responsible for the death of, once again BILLIONS, your telling if the person you love, one day just decided to annihilate 80% of the population and his best excuse was "Im just and idiot who got given alot of power" you wouldn't reconsider your love life? Mikasa was not related to him by blood and neither was she adopted by Jaegers as their child. She had nowhere to go after her parents were murdered, so Grisha let her stay with them. Besides, she never once called Grisha/Carla as Mom/Dad, instead, formally addressed them as Mr. Jaeger and Mrs. Jaeger. She lived with them for a year or two hardly before Shinganshina fell. So, yes technically, Mikasa and Eren are not siblings by any means.

Oh I agree, Eren and Historia make so much more sense then eren and mikasa. Not to mention it makes sense story wise, symbolically, theme, character and so much more. There was clearly evidence to show that there was something going on between Eren and Historia. It espcially make no sense that Historia would ever be with the farmer who is the same guy that bully her and throw rocks at her. Same with Eren and Mikasa. Not to mention if Yams want to end it on love he would do the same thing with Eren and Historia by having Eren doing the full rumbling to not only saving his people and being free but also saving and being with his wife Historia and his baby and doing so they won't die.
It's SO blatantly OBVIOUS Isayama was either forced to do this or he is a liar. I remember interviews in which he said Mikasa's and Eren's relationship was that of a mom and son, and that Eren would land up with somebody completely different. Ffs, Mikasa is overly obsessed with Eren in a way that is unhealthy and makes no sense. I wish she would've got choked by that scarf and died, that would've made his (Eren's) attempt at trying to make Mikasa hate him so that she would throw the scarf away all the more impactful (as HE WOULD'VE BEEN PREVENTING HER DEATH).

Yeah I initially just hated Floch, then I re-rewatched the series after the finale with an other perspective and I just thought that he made more sense than the main cast who had no fucking idea what they were doing. Just jumping from an objective to another, being reactionary, team up with the warriors who killed so many of their friends and family members, killing their own people in favor of the rest of the world that just wanted them all dead. So much that Isayama had to make Floch a super villainous psychopath in order to make the audience hate him more than the main characters. But in the end Floch was even more right than Isayam himself ahahah

Yams could make this work (would still be awkward for a last minute reveal but it would make logical sense). All he had to do is establish clearly Yimir sees her descendants as her children and feels responsible for them at the same time wants freedom from her powers. In such case instead of nonsensical Mikasa-Yimir thematic link we have Eren-Yimir. Both want freedom for themselves and their people. Alternatively if we want to go with full personal freedom, everyone else be demanded (makes even better thematic connection to selfish motivation angle to Eren), make Yimir's powers be bound by blood of Eldians (not some bs Stockholm syndrome). The entire nations is legacy of her slavery to Fritz and reason she can't die in peace. Good tragedy potential, good bases for internal conflict among main cast. It's so simple, so perfect fit solution to this unnecessary plot problems it almost seams like it was initial intent from Yams. Then he pulled the Last Jedi on his readers to "subverse" their expectations just for sake of it. Almost everything that is rushed, underutilized and nonsensical in both anime and manga ending COULD work, If only Yams didn't chicken out, took a breath or two and didn't try to pull M.Night Shamlala twist.
I don't know if I like the whole concept as a whole but the last part is spot on, Yams seemingly tried going for an unexpected ending and dragged the story a long into this mess

exactly, like totally different show. it still hit hard with all moral dilemmas, but not quite as hard as previous seasons, real shame. and i wouldnt call it love either, as it was not really shown, just briefly mentioned. we couldnt get even one proper "i love you". there were just some love motives which is even sadder then if it was real strong love there. so even this love is unconvincing

The only thing that could temporarily make me forget about the rumbling arc, is a brand new manga about the Great Titan War, who fought who, how it ended, the first King Fritz, the first Tybur, what agreements were made between them, where was the Attack Titan all this time and what did it do, how the world was like when Eldians were in power, and how it all came to be the way it was when we begin the story at the walls. It would be an epic show. But i'm basically having a wet daydream, i know.

The problem is that Game of Thrones writer had planned the story for the prequel before he did the main story. Isayama just went along with the story and simply added the great Titan War. He himself would have no idea how to write that part for a prequel.

After Eren mentally beats himself up when he witness Hannes get eaten by the same titan that ate his mother, Mikasa comes to his side to comfort him, she talk about how grateful and appreciative she is, not for that fact that he saved her life multiply times, but given that life meaning and the reason why she loves him, why she loves being around him is because he give that same life reason. She goes for a kiss and Eren accepts and embraces it. From that speech and that kiss he realizes not only how much he loves Mikasa but the people in his life, which give him the strength to get back up and fight, because like how he was inside the stomach of a titan, HE BE DAMN TO EVEN THINK ABOUT GIVEN UP NOW. Yes he is weak, yes he is useless and yes this power would’ve been better suited to anyone else, he is more than willing to attack and push forward for the sake of the people he loves behind him. This is why I find Eren Yeager to not only be my favorite character but the best holder of the Attack Titan.

Honestly Eren and Historia made sense for the story of AOT. Eren was only ever happy with her even in Season 4. He trusted Historia more than his friends. Plus the Song Memory Lane is from Historia POV implying she's waiting for Eren to return and mentions she wear the jacket she gave to him

Historia's arc and her entire character was unnecessary to be honest. She was brought into the story outta nowhere, she was meant to be nothing more than a figure-head Monarch, and she played that role exactly, so who she marries or has a child with is reallynot matter even worthy of discussion. We already have Zeke Jaeger, who besides being the MC's half-brother, had more reasons to be in the story. He was more than enough to play the part of the royal blood titan shifter, needed to activate the Rumbling. Isayama really messed up.

Isayama himself called her one of the most important characters alongside eren and armin + at the end of ch 52 it's stated historia holds in her hands the key to the world's greatest mystery. Obviously, she was one of the first created characters but just got abandoned by the author in the end

Wheres Eren and Armin atleast had their respective roles and characters distinct from everyone else, they had their own parts that none other can play. Historia isn't comparable to them, they were the Protagonist and deuteragonist of the story, while she was just another side character meant to play her role for that particular Arc (Overthrowing the fake govt. And reclaiming her position as the Monarch) that showed her character progression, it developed and then her role concluded (from an unknown girl to the queen) all her character motivations resolved. As for moving the main story forward to its finale, Zeke was the only one necessary.

eren started to see mikasa diffrently because he started to see his life diffrently, he knew he was going to die, and that in 4 years he's dead anyway.
its why he started to see mikasa that way, why he became afraid of death unlike before. there's a lot more to it but if you actually read anything I hope I made it clear.

there seems to be a theme of forgiving unremorseful mass murderers through out the story. So, yes technically, Mikasa and Eren are not siblings by any means.

Oh I agree, Eren and Historia make so much more sense then eren and mikasa. Not to mention it makes sense story wise, symbolically, theme, character and so much more. There was clearly evidence to show that there was something going on between Eren and Historia. It espcially make no sense that Historia would ever be with the farmer who is the same guy that bully her and throw rocks at her. Same with Eren and Mikasa. Not to mention if Yams want to end it on love he would do the same thing with Eren and Historia by having Eren doing the full rumbling to not only saving his people and being free but also saving and being with his wife Historia and his baby and doing so they won't die.
It's SO blatantly OBVIOUS Isayama was either forced to do this or he is a liar. I remember interviews in which he said Mikasa's and Eren's relationship was that of a mom and son, and that Eren would land up with somebody completely different. Ffs, Mikasa is overly obsessed with Eren in a way that is unhealthy and makes no sense. I wish she would've got choked by that scarf and died, that would've made his (Eren's) attempt at trying to make Mikasa hate him so that she would throw the scarf away all the more impactful (as HE WOULD'VE BEEN PREVENTING HER DEATH).

Yeah I initially just hated Floch, then I re-rewatched the series after the finale with an other perspective and I just thought that he made more sense than the main cast who had no fucking idea what they were doing. Just jumping from an objective to another, being reactionary, team up with the warriors who killed so many of their friends and family members, killing their own people in favor of the rest of the world that just wanted them all dead. Im a fan of the show, realised the flaws of the ending but it was still pretty damn satisfying and got the (main) messages across, at least in the anime. (I agree the manga wqs pretty didastrous, but it didnt ruin the whole manga

It's kind of open ending isayama made it like that to please both sides of fandom who wanted mikasa to marry or wanted her to die single so he didn't showed face for open interpretation he messed up!!!
Yams could make this work (would still be awkward for a last minute reveal but it would make logical sense). All he had to do is establish clearly Yimir sees her descendants as her children and feels responsible for them at the same time wants freedom from her powers. In such case instead of nonsensical Mikasa-Yimir thematic link we have Eren-Yimir. Both want freedom for themselves and their people.
Alternatively if we want to go with full personal freedom, everyone else be demanded (makes even better thematic connection to selfish motivation angle to Eren), make Yimir's powers be bound by blood of Eldians (not some bs Stockholm syndrome). The entire nations is legacy of her slavery to Fritz and reason she can't die in peace. Good tragedy potential, good bases for internal conflict among main cast.
It's so simple, so perfect fit solution to this unnecessary plot problems it almost seams like it was initial intent from Yams. Then he pulled the Last Jedi on his readers to "subverse" their expectations just for sake of it. Almost everything that is rushed, underutilized and nonsensical in both anime and manga ending COULD work, If only Yams didn't chicken out, took a breath or two and didn't try to pull M.Night Shamlala twist.
I don't know if I like the whole concept as a whole but the last part is spot on, Yams seemingly tried going for an unexpected ending and dragged the story a long into this mess
@@revvin7624 Things could be made better if entire parts of the story were completely rewritten, but I based those two examples on what was already presented in the ending.(Yimir wanting to be free, at the cost of Eldians thematically fits very well to the rest of the story prior to Marlay arc. Makes fate of Paradis even more tragic).
It boggles the mind that we could get pretty well written ending If only Yams gave himself (or was given) time to make more chapters.

exactly, like totally different show. it still hit hard with all moral dilemmas, but not quite as hard as previous seasons, real shame. and i wouldnt call it love either, as it was not really shown, just briefly mentioned. we couldnt get even one proper "i love you". there were just some love motives which is even sadder then if it was real strong love there. so even this love is unconvincing

The only thing that could temporarily make me forget about the rumbling arc, is a brand new manga about the Great Titan War, who fought who, how it ended, the first King Fritz, the first Tybur, what agreements were made between them, where was the Attack Titan all this time and what did it do, how the world was like when Eldians were in power, and how it all came to be the way it was when we begin the story at the walls. It would be an epic show. But i'm basically having a wet daydream, i know.
So basically, just as how house of the dragon helps us forget about the game of thrones ending?

The problem is that Game of Thrones writer had planned the story for the prequel before he did the main story. Isayama just went along with the story and simply added the great Titan War. He himself would have no idea how to write that part for a prequel.

Yeah, like the man shown no damn romantic feeling towards Mikasa since the damn beginning of this story. If ya wanted to show that Eren DID had atleast had some romantic for Mikasa, ya should’ve let them kiss at the end of season 2 during the rescue arc. Hell, in a matter of fact let me cook and show you the power of loooooahwaaaave.
After Eren mentally beats himself up when he witness Hannes get eaten by the same titan that ate his mother, Mikasa comes to his side to comfort him, she talk about how grateful and appreciative she is, not for that fact that he saved her life multiply times, but given that life meaning and the reason why she loves him, why she loves being around him is because he give that same life reason. She goes for a kiss and Eren accepts and embraces it. From that speech and that kiss he realizes not only how much he loves Mikasa but the people in his life, which give him the strength to get back up and fight, because like how he was inside the stomach of a titan, HE BE DAMN TO EVEN THINK ABOUT GIVEN UP NOW. Yes he is weak, yes he is useless and yes this power would’ve been better suited to anyone else, he is more than willing to attack and push forward for the sake of the people he loves behind him.
This is why I find Eren Yeager to not only be my favorite character but the best holder of the Attack Titan.

Honestly Eren and Historia made sense for the story of AOT. Eren was only ever happy with her even in Season 4. He trusted Historia more than his friends. Plus the Song Memory Lane is from Historia POV implying she's waiting for Eren to return and mentions she wear the jacket she gave to him
