@@Bandog23 Bro. Eren had every reason and was determined to Genocide the Whole World for the Sake of Eldia. That's not being an immature child. That's being someone who wants to save your people and friends. What's being an immature child is how his character was assassinated by bad writing. He literally Became a remorseful and regretful idiot who began spouting shit like "Oh Mikasa Mikasa 😭😭" and came up with a garbage plan that is nothing more than an inferior version of the Code Geass Ending and Wouldn't and Didn't Work. Like, DO YOU REALLY THINK, That the world would spare Eldia for 1000 Years logically? Cuz that seems to have happened in the ending due to one thing, Disney level writing. They turned a Grim Dark Fantasy Political Story into an Disney Sunshine and Rainbows make no sense story. After Eren rumbled 80% of the World Population do you think the remaining survivors would actually spare Eldia? NO. The 20% of People who survived Erens Rumbling would Hate Eldia, and would plot and prepare for revenge. Erens whole Character is Avenging the Death of his friends and family and people like his Mother. He failed, because it seems his Future self wanted his Mom dead for some reason. Then he went on to protecting Armin and Mikasa and His People. He failed, or at least, should've failed. (Again, Disney Level Sunshine and Rainbows Sanitized dumb ending.) It seems 1000 Years passed (Unrealistically.) After the Rumbling or maybe a few Centuries. Because the Cities went from Medieval World War 1 Technology to Modern Age Batman Beyond Technology. With some futuristic looking skyscrapers but modern age missile trucks. Eren should've remained a Villain. But he didn't, instead he became a poor copy of Lellouch Vi Britannia and his "Oh I'll let my Friend's kill me so the rest of the world forgives Eldia" (Like the World would ever forgive Eldia after Eren wiped out 80% of the Human Race.). @@DepressMosquito Facts. The Attack on Titan Season 4 Ending retconned and destroyed Erens Character. He went from a genocidal freedom fighting patriot who'd give everything to defend both his loved ones and his people, to becoming a salty crybaby crying about Mikasa. The AoT Season 4 Ending, PULLED IT'S PUNCHES. Instead of going all the way and making Eren Thanos basically, they turned him into the Gems in Steven Universe. Went from having the resolve to destroy the world for his friends and family and people, to getting poorly Talk U No Jutsu'd into stopping the Rumbling AFTER HE WIPED 80% OF THE WORLD POPULATION. By the Time Eren Stopped, 80% of the World Population were already gone. Do you think the survivors of Erens Rumbling would just forgive Eldians for stopping Eren? No. They'd get revenge, as was seen in the Ending though it took a bit too long. It completely goes against Erens goal of protecting his friends and people and avenging the death's of his loved ones. Stopping the Rumbling after it had almost been completed, DOOMED ELDIA IN THE FUTURE, just to make traitors like Mikasa and Armin happy. 🤦♂️ Disappointing. The Fanbase is not as divided on the Last Season because of Awesome Animation and Hype. That's it, there was too much hype for people to legitimately think "What's wrong with this? Also, they literally nuked Annie's hometown and killed thousands of civilians so Annie has that on them if they ever wanna say shit. Levi's side eye is at least more than he ever does in the manga but that hardly makes him smart when it's in the same scene as everyone else letting her bail out on the fight they all spent that supposed "character development" round the fire committed to.
@@revvin7624 Loved your comeback! One thing I disagreed with tho is that Jean was unlikable post time skip. I found it compelling that he was the only Alliance character having inner conflict over what “side” to join, as he obviously doesn’t like the idea of billions of people dying but understood where Eren/Floch were coming from logically. I personally didn’t like that he was swayed completely bc Hange stated that “None of the gone SC would’ve agreed to the Rumbling, they would’ve wanted to protect humanity not just humanity within the walls”and thinking “Marco wouldn’t have wanted me to agree with this” as just a minute earlier he basically admitted that they hadn’t found a plan to protect Paradis and that killing Eren would spell doom for them. I also couldn’t help but find it a bit arrogant that Hange claimed that *none* of her thousands of dead comrades would want the Rumbling, bc she can’t speak for all of them. None of them knew that there was a humanity that hated them and wanted to wipe them out. But that’s just my hot take, don’t @ me on that paragraph 🫣
@yunshao5261 There were some sparks of brilliance in the rumbling arc but overall it felt rushed and unsatisfactory, characters included. Jean could have had much more depth if given time
You forgot to mention how the colossal titans instantly evaporated the global allied fleet when they got too close but Hange was fine for quite some time while being slicing their necks and legs.
The heat of the wall Titans is super inconsistent anyways. We see some people burst into flame just from getting close to them yet others get crushed before they get burnt, it’s like the story can’t make up its mind about it

Yaegerist really let the people who killed Eren YAEGER negotiate "peace" with them? Make it make sense. Mikasa and Armin would be killed for treason for stepping one foot back in Paradis. There wasn't a regime change, so how do they suddenly see people who opposed them as allies?
Or even just the family’s of all the people Reiner, Annie, and Pieck killed. Isayama really trying to say (while showing Paradis embracing the Jeagerist cause) not one person tries to off the murderer of their loved ones? The people who were responsible for 99% of all the evil that happened in the story?
@@Crossbones6732 I think Yams was pulling off a cheesy "power of friendship" thing with Historia protecting them since they'd all been former cadets. But it makes no logical sense as even Armin admitted they'd betrayed their country to save the world. A world that Yams tells us (through Udo, Kruger, Sergeant Gross, the world leaders cheering, and the Eldian rights meeting) wants Eldians/Paradis gone. There's Hizuru, but they only wanted to exploit them for resource gain. Hange even says that they wouldn't help them trade with other nations cuz Paradis has to be the "root of all evil" that units the outside world
Maybe Historia came forward and offered herself 💀 to save them. Or maybe Eren took initiative to contact all Yeagerists in Paths before his death, saying bros you all are pranked by me, please please forgive my friends, otherwise would do reverse Rumbling to cuck Paradis.
It's actually not that hard, it's just that it's people's natural instinct to just shut down when they feel they're being attacked. From what I've seen the best way to get through to people is to make sure you're having a conversation or friendly debate, not an argument, and start with the small stuff. Yelena's arc being forgotten/unfinished, Eren getting the Warhammer being useless to the story, Founding Titan power plotholes, the illogicality of Falco's bird form are a few good ones to start with. Then move on to bigger but objective ones, like Eren loving Mikasa being a retcon (cite interviews for this), plotholes with the Eren and Dina reveal, along with her targeting Eren already being explained. Then go after big-picture stuff; how it fails the story's already established message, fails to have real character development, Eren's character being completely failed and retconned, the lack of worldbuilding throughout Season 4, the loss of the moral grayness that made S3 and S4P1 so good, etc.
@@AL-kc1nb Okay, bro, you need to make a TH-cam Video on this. 😳👌 I think you can actually get through to people more. @@FEURVERM Uniquenameosaurus made a really great rewrite for AOT's ending. His whole TH-cam channel is based upon rewriting chunks of stories, so it makes sense him of all people could do a good job. I have a few minor problems with it (after all I doubt anyone could make a perfect ending for a series as large in scope as this), but it's actually incredible how much he was able to fix starting so late in the story. In the comments you can see there's even a lot of people who liked the ending that enjoyed his rewrite.
Bruh I died at your comment 😂 But in all seriousness, aruannie was an awful and forced romance. I think it was implied way back in s1 that Annie felt like Armin was the only person that treated her like a "normal" person whereas everyone saw her as this antisocial scary girl. She also spared killing Armin as a titan. However, they were only shown to have 3 convos, and one was where Armin lured her into the dungeon. Armin having feelings for her made NO SENSE bc the last time he saw her, she'd infiltrated his homeland and killed a bunch of his comrades. I know it's a headcanon but I srsly believe Bert was influencing him
Post-timeskip Armin got the biggest character downgrade. Armin spent more time talking to Annie's crystal, revealing personal info about the SC to an enemy soldier when Paradis was scrambling for a plan to protect itself from humanity. His personality got reduced to being a simp, not wanting to fight back against the world that hated them, and wanting to talk everything out (which magically works in the end). I headcanon that he became a pushover bc he'd already fulfilled his dream of seeing the ocean, and didn't want to fight anymore. He wasn't that interested in combat in the first place, he was more of a military strategist than soldier. And you're right, he gives off zesty vibes.
@@celinashao4616 Armin being gay or bisexual would've been better. I mean I know MIkasa and him are platonic soulmates, but they could've made a decent couple. Hell I think him and Eren should've been a couple . @@Spantzcatdog The hell line was better than that cringe thank you but I don't know how to feel about it. Yams stated in an interview that Eren never cared about seeing the sea, he wanted the freedom to see it. During the serumbowl he even mentions he sort of forgot about Armin's book. Yes, he was disappointed that the outside world didn't have the sense of discovery in his book but from the way I interpreted it, his *primary* disappointment was how humanity was just another "wall" as they all hated his race and nation. I think him wanting to see "the flat sight" was a retcon on his motivations, it made him look like he was rumbling bc he was a psycho
@@Spantzcatdog The "we did this" part makes me remember that before Eren was about to rumble, Armin yells at Eren that they (his friends) were partly to blame for him being pushed to this point. The two reasons why Eren went "rogue" was bc the SC couldn't find a good solution to protect Paradis and his friends weren't checking in on his depression
In the scene at 5:22, I remember feeling very conflicted. We’re supposed to root for Mikasa but she’s shown as this badass who shows no mercy, when this should be a fight between two people who have actual emotions and not about one of them “looking cool”. It honestly (in my humble opinion) made her unlikeable.
I think her blowing up the already dead Yeagerists was an anime-only scene. But man, it was a bad idea. Her doing that was completely unnecessary as they were already dead, and it didn't make her look "badass." And Revvin was right, the way she just showers in the blood and glares at the audience came across as a poor attempt to make her look like a cliche Marvel hero. I found it funny how she was distraught over Eren causing the deaths of civilians in Marley (a country that was was not only deeply racist towards her race, but wanted to exterminate her home) but doesn't show any emotion towards killing her own ppl. I'm an East Asian woman and I never found her well written. Just bc a female character's physically overpowered and can fight doesn't mean they're interesting

Fr aot twitter takes are wack. I also agree with the Guardians of Galaxy thing, bc the thing that prob bothered me the most about the rumbling arc was how the story shifted into a generic "good vs evil" story, with the Alliance being portrayed as peace ambassador heroes that could live in Paradis after stopping Eren (despite Armin himself admitting they betrayed Paradis). Sure, we got Yelena calling them out and the chapter "Sinners" but to me, it was obvious that Yams wanted the readers to see the Alliance's actions as heroic. Not ONE person from the OG pre-timeskip cast (not counting Floch, as he was only introduced in s3 pt 2 and established as an "opposition to the main cast") are ride or die for the island and side with Eren. The deus ex machina of all the past Shifters helping the Alliance, even Eldian nationalist Kruger. We're supposed to believe that ALL the SC would've agreed with the Alliance during the "ghosting" scene. And with Paradis being majority Yeagerist, the Alliance can walk freely in Paradis side by side with Annie and Reiner?
If Yams was going to take inspiration from a superhero especially from Marvel, it should've been X-Men not Guardians of the Galaxy or Avengers. Heck he already took some inspiration from DC's Watchmen
After reading the manga and seeing that at the end Paradise Island was destroyed some years later,I did not even wanted to see the anime.I still think a ending where Eren become protector or God for his people would be much better just like the movie War for the Planets of Apes.

@@daniaaal I don't think you know what Fascism even means. The "Kill or Be Killed" Idea has existed far longer than Fascism. And Fascism from my understanding (I'd Bet I have a better understanding than you just from watching a few TIK History Vids for sure.) Is not a "Kill or Be Killed" Ideology. It's a Governmental System that wants all power to be in a centralized government and the government must treat it's citizens like tools to accomplish important tasks. It's basically like a Bee Hive where everyone is treated like a robot. Quite similar to Communism. H i t l e r does not represent Fascism. For Fascism is an very versatile ideology. @floriuszz I can’t quote it exactly, but one small (but imo important) change was that in the manga, Eren basically says to Armin in the table scene “Your intelligence and strategic thinking always led us to a solution, you never sided with the enemy, but now all you say is “let’s talk,” you’re useless” I heard this was left out of the anime, which I think removes context as to why Eren was so frustrated with Armin. It wasn’t just bc of the Annie thing. He felt that Armin was becoming too idealistic with their situation and couldn’t grasp just how much the outside world, at large, hated Paradis
@@floriuszzI'm sure MAPPA shortened Reiner's childhood flashback scenes a bit. One weird thing they changed was that in the manga, Annie's fully conscious when she leads the titans to the wall, but in the anime (prob in an attempt to redeem her), she's unconscious. And regardless of what you think of him, Floch is less villainized in the manga, as the volunteer he shoots was shown to be about to assault him with a cocked fist and he only shoots once. He also isn't as happy/gleeful when he confronts the volunteers about their homelands being destroyed, he solely has a serious face
Honestly it would have been better if they saved for the end that eren had remorse in doing it instead of showing how he had remorse on killing ramzi the boy from marley
Another amazing video,❤You are absolutely right about the Floch part ,other 90 percent moments besides his dying scene he feel like a cartoonish villain only to add a bit of nuance on Eren sides, and Isayama know how to create a sympathetic and emotional villain makes me more curious how amazing Floch could have become if he get more emotional aspects on writing 😢 (I still love him though ❤)
I agree with you to an extent, I feel that Yams was so focused on the “antagonist” part of Floch he didn’t attempt to humanize/give people perspective on why he did what he did. I have to politely disagree that he was one dimensional, bc he still had character development (so called coward to military leader) and his goal of wanting Paradis to live free of humanity’s oppression was understandable. I still think he’s well written. Btw I realized after clicking on your profile that I’ve seen your art on Reddit, your art style is very cute! ❤🎨

GoT crashed and burned so hard, but at least Prince Joffrey and Ramsey Bolton got their comeuppance for all the evil they did. Watching the Female Titan arc and knowing the reaction to Annie’s atrocities will be… that, is like if Prince Joffrey lived to Season 8 and everybody gave him a hug.
I love how Levi was quite conveniently kept unconscious for the entirety of the campfire scene just so that Isayama didn’t have to bother dealing with it
@@opie_ytOr have anyone give Annie any trouble or hostility, not even a snarky retort when she dares try to guilt them. Seriously, it’s like Isayama was hoping no one had reread or rewatched the series and forgotten how horrible Annie was on account of her being absent for eight years.
Pieck also got away with her war crimes. She carried the rocks for Zeke and gasses Ragako (bioterrorism), yet also gets no punishment. At least Reiner showed remorse unlike Annie. And he did get "punished" by suffering from crippling depression and PTSD. He even developed multiple personality disorder, Bertolt had to remind him constantly that they were Warriors. He became the series' punching bag by s4 and got beaten by Jean for Marco's death, while Annie gets nothing from Jean even tho she also admitted she killed Marco. I do think it was bs that Reiner got to be a peace ambassador that could go to Paradis (and let's be real, he survived due to plot armor). All the Warriors got some sort of karma for their actions, except for Annie and Pieck. I guess since they're attractive girls they can get away with it 🤷♀Zeke got betrayed by his only family (Eren), and Gabi (while I'm not a fan of her) got beaten up.
I totally agree that Annie got forgiven too easily, but it's dishonest to say she was the only one who had a high body count like Eren's. Reiner, Bertolt, and Zeke also killed thousands of ppl. However, I respected those characters more. Reiner and Bertolt felt regret, and while Zeke was apathetic towards his murders, it at least stemmed from his (understandable) philosophy of wanting to put Eldians out of their misery as they were hated by everyone else. Annie only did what she did to save her abusive dad. She even admits to Reiner when they're children she doesn't care about anything besides herself and her dad
@@celinashao4616 I mean, Reiner and Bertholdt are responsible for the deaths of the people of Shiganshina District, but Annie is the one who brought the pure titans into the walls that killed half of the humans inside the wall and countless SL soldiers throughout the years, then all the soldiers from the branches and civilians that died in Stohess and the expedition during the Female Titan arc.
@@celinashao4616 valid points to be honest, but the thing I hate the most is that the warriors got a happy ending although the only one who deserved one was Falco. All were forgiven and the people they killed are basically forgotten about, even when some of them were really close to the main cast.
@@davidgamerxyz1155 Her leading the titans to the walls is a good point, tho I think her and Reiner share joint responsibility for that since Reiner got the idea to break down the walls in the first place. And don't get me started on Armin loving her...did he forget that she caused the invasion that killed his grandpa? And that she killed so many of his comrades? Yams shoehorned the romance in the last season, bc previously, Armin NEVER thought about Annie once in s2 and s3. It's a headcanon but I firmly believe Bertolt was influencing him. I think Yams added the romance to try to make Annie look more redeemable but it was just awful...

The Defense for Attack on Titan Season 4 Ending is.... It just makes no sense to be honest. Like, "Oh Erens always been an Immature Child.☝️🤓🤡", And? What's more Immature is his decision in the Ending. Instead of continuing the Rumbling he decides to stop? Which literally goes against "Protecting his People" (The Eldians of Paradis like his Mother, who was both killed by his future self and by The Marleyans.) Stopping the Rumbling after wiping out 80% of the World's Population is a death sentence for Eldia. The 20% who survived will get revenge on Eldia, no matter how long it takes as in the Ending, it shows either a few centuries to a Millenia had passed after the Rumbling and Eldia was being destroyed. It doesn't matter If Armin's Traitor Alliance stopped Eren. What matters is Eldia caused the Rumbling that wiped out 80% of the World Population. Eren stopping the Rumbling went completely against his goals of protecting his friends, and his people. The ending was literally a Happy Ending for everyone except Eren and the 80% he wiped out. 🤦♂️ It may actually take a few years and the Attack on Titan Requiem to show the Truth that Attack on Titan Season 4 Ending SUCKS.
I remember a very specific interview that Isayama did back in the day where he was asked what his ideal protagonist would be. And I’m paraphrasing here, but Isayama responded with: “a character that doesn’t lie. I enjoy a character whose will and decisions affect the story. Characters that become pawns of the story are unattractive to me.” It went something like that Now this is ironic, because what kind of character did Eren become at the end? Oh that’s right, *a liar and a pawn of the story.* Assassinating a character is one thing, but then there’s doing a complete 180 on your entire philosophy of what a protagonist is💀💀💀 Shit like this almost convinces me that Isayama made the ending bad on purpose, because how do you fuck it up THIS BAD
forgot to mention that Hange could have survived if they had taken the seaplane to the ocean to repair it since the welding machine was powered by gas and the fuel was in the gallon!, they could simply ask Rainer to push the plane into the ocean and he would do it a hardening platform!
Hange's death was more of a suicide. She willingly sacrificed herself, and I feel that even if their plane didn't get delayed she would've found some excuse to give herself up to stop the Rumbling eventually. She sacrificed herself as a way to "repent" for being a poor Commander, as she admitted herself that she was partly responsible for Eren resorting to the Rumbling. When Levi near tearfully bid her farewell she wasn't saddest in the slightest. She died being around titans, whom she'd always shown a great fascination with. Her death did feel a bit lame considering how Falco could fly
The deus ex machina of all the past shifters fighting for the Alliance was so dumb. It's further evidence that Yams gave up on "gray morality" and shifted the story to morally favor the Alliance *a lot.* It's a big claim to make, but there is no doubt in my mind about it. None of the OG main cast even consider supporting Eren, Jean gets talked out of it last minute despite admitting that stopping Eren will doom their nation. Look, all the past shifters and dead SC ghosts sided with the Alliance! Hange gets to join the scouts in the "afterlife," but none of the Yeagerists get to go there! There's also the port battle where the Yeagerists appear as helpless dummies and the alliance just suffer no damage. The Yeagerists are also drawn very roughly, almost inhuman in the manga. I saw a video of a fan asking him at a convention, "What is your definition of freedom?" and he could only say "idk." Like bro, you wrote a story about a boy chasing freedom. You had it as one of the central themes (if not most central theme) and you couldn't even define it! Isayama also admitted that he needs to reread parts of his work bc he forgets details and "rules" in his own story. Which would explain the plot holes and lack of logic with the past shifters helping the Alliance
@@celinashao4616 The weird part is that his story was almost perfect until chapter 123. From chapter 123 the retcons and plotholes Started and only got worse until 139. Maybe he really had the entire story planned but for some bs reason he had to change the ending creating a mess to force his plot in another direction
@@lain5858 He did have a "planned out" ending originally. His initial ending was supposed to be bleak, one where almost everyone dies. But he backpedaled on that bc he realized how attached fans had become to their characters. I don't get why he was hesitant bc AOT was always known for having a grim tone, and there are PLENTY of good fiction and media that have bleak endings. Yams should've grown a backbone and not buckled to fan/editor pressure. He wanted to kill Levi off in the final arc but got talked out of it by his editor cuz it would make all his fangirls mad and threaten their sales. He also originally wanted Mikasa to distance herself from Eren eventually (much like Casca did to Griffith in Berserk) and didn't interpret their relationship as romantic in 2015, but then he prob discovered crazy EM stans...
In recent years I have only heard justifications about this ending and not reasons why like it, then those who say that an ending in which Eren kills his friends would send the wrong message would make me laugh, while the original ending concludes that thanks to the genocide paradaise had 1000 years of peace ,himself for the alliance, peace they would never have had with the other planes. then people have learned nothing from this ending, because to say that human beings do not learn from their mistakes ,that war is inevitable and that sooner or later we will die in a raid, I find it a cowardly and hypocritical phrase, because it is simply a phrase that is said to make the ending appear poetic and to make the person who says it feel like a justification for doing nothing but at the same time seeming like philosophers. Anyway, as usual, nice video
My only hope is Requiem Attack on Titan (Fall 2024) 💯 because honestly Bro fumbled the ending so bad, I don't even accept it as real to be honest, Bro butchered the whole cast even Eren bro 💀
@@Spantzcatdog same bro the whole season should be rewritten, I was going to say that first but I realized that's the best-case scenario. But 3% chance that is going to happen 💀
Hey Rev! Could you make a vid explaining why Aruani is a forced ship? Bc many people say that they already had a relationship or knew each other since season 1 etc, i would like to hear your take on that. Have a nice day!
Aruani makes NO SENSE when you remember that Annie killed so many of Armin's comrades and countrymen. I know it's a headcanon but I srsly believe that Armin was being influenced by Bert, bc it makes no sense for him to love an enemy invader that doesn't feel regret for her crimes. They only had like 3 conversations in s1, and one involved Armin emotionally manipulating Annie to convince her to follow the trio to the dungeon (where they wanted to trap her). Maybe Annie liking Armin made sense as Armin treated her like a "normal" person but Armin reciprocating those feelings after all the crimes she did was pure shipping fanservice
I thought Annie was a well written antagonist in s1, but Yams handled her so badly in the end. Bert gets eaten, Reiner has to deal with crippling PTSD, but Annie gets no karma. Her "being in a coma and having her lifespan shortened" for 4 years was her OWN decision, she did it to avoid consequences. She cried at Marco's death but she doesn't feel bad for anything else, she literally said she'd "do it all again" to see her abusive dad. Everyone in the Alliance just forgives her in a heartbeat, only Yelena calls her out on what she did. Jean beats up Reiner but forgets that Annie also played a role in Marco's death. Oh, and she gets to be a peace ambassador and gets a love interest!!! I guess loving umi da redeems you of being a war criminal that attacked an innocent island
Hell yeah. I’m on that train. It’s such a forced ass ship it’s insane. Honestly both of them should despise each other, and at best mildly tolerate each other. Any one who says it’s possible either of them showed “feels” for each other is reaching up their ass 😂😂😂. “They were civil to each other once so it must be love.” Clown asses. Forced as hell, overrated, dog water shit.
@@celinashao4616 I also think like that, but I commented on an Aruani vid on TikTok and they're were thousands of 11 year olds saying that their relationship was build up since season 1 blabla and started attacking me etc.
Overall, I agree, but there are still some things that are genuinely good, for instance the Freedom scene and cliff baby, but everything else is hot garbage at worst and mid at best.
@@annett_55555 You seriously think the Connie feeding Falco to his mom scene was good writing? What about the godawful port battle (with zero casualties for the alliance)? The sudden romances (e.g. Annie x Armin)? The whole arc was flawed to begin with. It was alright until chapter 123 but began taking a nosedive in quality after that. Chapter 139 is really just the cherry on top of this at best mediocre pile of shit cake.
Eren would've died back in s1 without plot armor lol, the santa titan conveniently forgot to chew him so he lived. Do you mean s4? Cuz man, the stakes really disappeared there. Only Hange and Magath die from the Alliance, and both of them were suicides
I'm pretty sure that WIT Studio ditched the final season cuz they saw how bad the writing was. Back when they animated the series, they would rearrange and add more dialogue to improve the scenes. For example Hanes's death was improved on in the anime. In the manga, Hanes literally just dies with no buildup. But exclusive to the anime, WIT Studio adds a scene of Hanes getting caught, and Eren's inner monologue where he says "If [he] can't become a titan right now, then it's all been for nothing!" Isayama always had a problem with pacing, its just that WIT studio always helped to fix that. I think for the final season, they just found his work unsalvageable, or not worth the trouble at least. MAPPA pretty much just did a 1:1 adaptation of the manga. They did change a few scenes here and there, but not really enough to salvage things. One weird change MAPPA made was making it so Annie was unconscious the whole time when Reiner and Berthold went to go bust the wall. in the manga, Annie runs them over to the wall's entrance. Maybe they wanted to make Annie seem more forgivable early on? cuz in the anime, she technically wasn't involved with the whole wall-busting-genocide thing.
Wait did they really see the script? I thought WIT stopped animating aot bc they were a small animation studio that was being overworked and underpaid, so they didn’t have the time to work on the final season. I prefer WIT’s animation, tho mappa did do some good character designs like of Hitch, Zeke, and Floch. As a manga only I will say that WIT did change some things I didn’t like. One, they replaced scenes of Armin and other characters with Mikasa. It’s Armin that pulls Eren out of his titan form. It’s Levi that bodies a thug in uprising, not Mikasa. It’s Reeves and Eren that convince Historia to punch Levi. They also removed the parts where Levi makes a whole speech about him “being a lunatic” to save humanity and choking/picking up Historia to convince her to be queen. Those scenes emphasized that Levi is still a morally gray thug, not a “Prince Charming husbando” that half the fandom wants to paint him as. The Annie change was CERTAINLY an attempt to redeem her. I didn’t know that they changed it. I think another change back in s1 is that in the manga, Annie attempts to climb over the walls in her titan form after losing to Eren (which would mean leaving Reiner and Bert behind). I don’t hate Annie as a written character but she was given princess treatment after her return. She didn’t feel regret for attacking Paradis and got nothing punishment, and somehow the audience is supposed to like her now. I saw her forced romance with Armin as another desperate attempt by Yams to “redeem” her 😂
MAPPA did tweak a few things from the manga tho. I think Reiner's childhood flashbacks were shortened. Another small but important thing they left out was that in the table scene, Eren confronts Armin not only about liking Annie but about how he's become too idealistic and soft on the enemy. He says to him something along the lines of "you never sided with the enemy, but now all you say is let's talk, you're useless." Another change on the top of my head is of (regardless of what you think of him) Floch shooting the volunteer. In the manga, the volunteer was drawn to be about assault Floch (with a punch fist), and Floch only shoots once instead of 3 times. So the action was less villainized in the manga
@@yunshao5261 Ye, that's the reason WIT gave, but I don't think that's the real reason WIT Studio stopped animating AOT. It's entirely speculation on my end, but I think they saw the mess that was coming, and chose to ditch the series. I think it's very strange they chose to give up their most successful series, instead of take a hiatus. They've done it before between S1 and S2, and considering the time skip that takes place in the story, it wouldn't be the worst time ever to take one. Especially if that would enable them to keep the series. To me, it looked more like a refusal to animate the final season than anything. Again, entirely speculation on my end. For me, S3 pt 1 was the worst thing WIT studio did XD. Eren and Historia were the main characters of that arc in the manga, and having them get kidnapped way too early stole a bunch of character moments. I know they changed the story at Yam's request, cuz he felt the story didn't pick up on the action quickly enough, but I don't think rearranging all those scenes and warping the pacing of the story was what he had in mind.
@@Ongor-qy9ec Honestly that's a fair speculation. I feel like MAPPA's art style isn't the most suited towards animating a series like aot bc it's less sharp. I didn't like the blurry filter they used (like for the Eren jacket scene) as it was a tad hard on my eyes. I've also heard they're unreliable on finishing things. I saw on IG that MAPPA dropped a Yuri on Ice sequel this year after telling fans since *2017* that it was gonna be a thing. I did hear that a journalist reported that towards the ending, Isayama was starting to lose passion for aot and wanted to get it over with. Which may have contributed partly to the mediocre writing later on. He even admitted very recently (this June) that he wished he'd had the power to change his ending. He felt tied down by external pressures (fans and editors), so even he himself doesn't find his ending a "masterpiece." I think WIT might have also cut Historia scenes bc in Japan, Historia isn't that popular. As Yun Shao stated, WIT added more scenes of Mikasa in the anime, likely due to Mikasa's popularity in Japan. Mikasa is the only character with Japanese descent, so she's almost like a self -insert for them. But as an East Asian woman, I think Historia outshines Mikasa in terms of writing and character development.
I feel almost all of the original cast became mediocre/unlikable post-timeskip. Mikasa is still defined by Eren, Levi only cares about killing Zeke, Hange becomes a poor leader who claims that her anti-Rumbling stance would've been supported by ALL the dead SC, and Connie serves no use to the story besides being angry and childish. Armin became my least favorite by a long shot, he spent more time with Annie than actually finding a solution for Paradis and naively thought everything could be solved by talking. It never went through his head that the whole world hated Paradis and wanted them wiped out. Jean was well-written up until he decided to join the Alliance despite admitting/knowing that the Rumbling was the only plan they had to defend Paradis. And ofc Historia gets forgotten
I often wish aot had a slightly smaller cast of characters so Isayama could develop and give each of them a satisfying arc. S4 introduced a bunch of new characters, and besides Yelena, all of them were meh at best to me. Imo, the only characters that got a satisfying, well-written arc by the end were Floch, Erwin, and Bertholdt. Historia, Sasha, and Yelena weren't ruined but the way their arcs ended was a bit disappointing. Sasha should've died a more heroic death, Historia should've played a larger role, and Yelena shouldn't have just disappeared on a boat
@@celinashao4616 I hate Gabi and her aimbot. If The author want a reflection of young Eren he should make her a bit more likeable. The survival of young Eren is later explained, but her survival is simply plot armor.
@@namvo3013 Gabi and young Eren are only similar through their hot temper and aggression, but other than that, they're actually inverses. Here's some examples. Eren wanted to wipe out the titans when the titans first attacked them. Gabi wanted to wipe out Paradisians when they never attacked her home. Eren hated being trapped with Paradis' walls. Gabi was fine living in the internment zone. Eren was enraged at Marley (the titans) attacking them out of nowhere, Gabi was mad at Eren for attacking even tho her country declared war FIRST on Paradis. Eren had to struggle to learn his titans power, whereas Gabi was a natural prodigy and like you said, an aimbot
@@namvo3013 What are examples of Gabi surviving due to plot armor? I kinda forgot. I don't hate Gabi but I feel her development was poorly built up. Yes, she was brainwashed but none of her friends (who went through the same indoctrination) were as racist as her. She was not only prejudiced towards Paradisians but wanted to wipe them out. That's being straight up genocidal
Lmao he said in an interview that he got inspired by marvel avengers. It was honestly a bad idea bc Marvel's 90% of the time black and white "good vs evil" whereas AOT was *supposed* to be a story of nuance and gray morality. The two franchises just don't mix
@celinashao4616 he should've bern inspired by X-men instead considering they follow themes of racism. Already, there is some inspiration from DC's Watchmen already.

@@revvin7624 Honestly I'm sort of happy that the fandom's died down. I know this is true for a lot of fandoms but I hate how AoT fans get so insecure with constructive criticism. They don't care much for the story but for shallow things like the ships, animation, and badass characters. Which is why I appreciate you animating these videos 😄 The only thing I disagreed with from your video was what you said about Floch being one-dimensional and cartoony. I do feel that Yams could've given him more vulnerability and have the audience understand his philosophy better, but I think he was still decently written. He was the sole survivor of Erwin's charge and felt responsible for making all their sacrifices worth it by protecting Paradis by any means. Yes, he did evil things, but nearly everything he did was to ensure the Rumbling (the only way Paradis could survive at that point) could happen. Isayama sort of reverted into a generic "good vs evil" tone when writing the Rumbling Arc, so that might be why Floch seemed cartoonishly evil. But if one looks at the circumstances Yams set up between Paradis and the world, Floch's aggression and desperation makes sense. The world literally wanted to crucify his ppl and nation simply for past sins. Not saying ppl have to like him, I just think calling him a cartoony villain isn't accurate
ReVVin will never Ever stop shitting on AoT Season 4, because of how Shitty it truly is. 😂 At least in a few months we'll have "Attack on Titan Requiem" to set things right. I hope.
I feel like season 4 didn’t start getting truly bad until the rumbling arc and the audience was supposed to start feeling sorry for the outside world being rumbled. Yams told the audience multiple times through characters like Udo, Gross, Kruger, and Zeke that the world hated Eldians/Paradisians and wanted them gone. They tried to do a peace talk but even the Eldians rights group wanted Paradis destroyed. After attacking Paradis for a century with no pushback Willy declares a war on them and the world willfully joins. How did the audience not figure out that “let’s talk” was a terrible idea? When Marley was on the losing side of the war, THEN they realize that racism/genocide/cycle of violence is bad. If Eren hadn’t touched Zeke they would’ve gladly continued hating Paradisians
@@WallNutBreaker524 Unrelated but I’ve seen ppl have the inaccurate take that Annie is more sympathetic than Floch, bc Annie feels “bad” for killing her enemies whereas Floch doesn’t feel guilty for anything… First, they conveniently forgot that Annie said she’d do it all again. Her making sad faces doesn’t mean she feels “remorse.” If a serial killer cried in court but still told the judge they’d kill again, should the judge just free them? Reiner and Bert felt remorse ON TOP of getting punishments. Second, Annie and Floch come from different situations and did their actions for different reasons. Annie attacked Paradis when Paradis never provoked her home. Her “mission” was to retake the Founder so Marley could dominate the world, and she KNEW (as she stated when kicking Reiner as kids) that Marley didn’t care about them and were using them as tools. So you can’t really excuse her for being “brainwashed.” Her only motivation for doing everything was to see her abusive dad. She stated herself she didn’t care about much else. Floch was from a nation that was tormented for a century. His home was on the receiving end of attacks, hated by the rest of the world and technologically behind thanks to the gov’t limiting their knowledge. He watched thousands of SC die in front of him, likely burdened with survivor’s guilt. The volunteers only helped Paradis to squash Marley but were concerned with their own nations, not Paradis. Most of them wanted to forcibly sterilize Eldians (led by Yelena). Hizuru wanted to exploit them for greed, and wouldn’t help Paradis ally with other nations. Honestly, does he have to feel bad about killing ppl that want his country and race gone? Does he have to feel bad for the SC that became traitors? Hell, even Armin admitted they’d all betrayed their country! Floch did what he did bc he wanted to protect Paradis for future generations. If you ask me that’s a more noble intention than doing it for just one person…🤷🏻♀️

Lmao I theorize that Pieck was created for fanservice bc Yams originally wanted her to be a middle aged dude to match the cart's original design. She was a bland character. I sometimes wish aot had a smaller cast so they could fully flesh out each character and their arc well, I'd rather have a smaller number of compelling characters than a large number of characters that don't get developed well
Cart Titan having unlimited transformation make sense as its practically useless other than bringing in cargo Its not a fighter it doesnt requere extra muscle mass such as armored titan and female titan Etc that is made for combat A cargo titan that is limiting is practically useless A cart titan is never made for fight to begin with Example is that the collosal titan is the longest cooldown to recover from before u can transform again which make sense So your Complaint is Absurd about this

Even Though most titans like the Attack, Armored, Beast, and the female were being made obsolete through the advancement of weaponary, we still see the cart titan excelling at its job and being made more modern with its attachments and cannons. It does have some combative abilites as it's bite strength is only overshadowed by the Jaw, but for the most part I'll admit isn't really mean't to fight. It only really has 2 major downside being it's weak regenerative abilites as Piek nearly died from the thunder spears in season 4. And of course the lack of muscle and armor. Aside from that, In terms of combat it's just a weaker/faster Jaw Titan. That alone is MORE than enough for a titan that was just made to move heavy stuff, and that was made clear by the fact the Ulimited transformations was only added at the LITTERAL END of the anime. The unlimited transformations as well as being able to YEAT yourself out of the cart like it's like a Figher Jet makes it nearly unbeatable. In any fight agaisnt the NINE it would win by just outlasting through a combition of Transformations/Speed/and Stamina. It's completely broken and I'm postive was only introduced so Piek Didn't die in the first 10 seconds agaisnt Eren like everyone should have. TLDR, Ulimited Transformations is stupid and Ymir making the same titan over and over is funny but stupid.
@@kushagraprasad4367 Even in the anime the tanks are still the same as the manga...so it's not even accurate to the futuristic skyscrapers. The anime was only changed that to make it seem as if the outside world didn't retaliate due to Eren's Rumbling attempt. If we follow the history of our world's technology, it's estimated that 70-80 years passed before Paradis got destroyed. I don't think the "civil war" argument makes sense bc Paradis is a small island with only a few hundred thousand ppl, they wouldn't carpet bomb their island. And let's not forget that it's implied the titan curse hasn't ended as the tree from Eren's grave looks identical to the one Ymir fell into...well done, Eren, you solved nothing!
Finishing the rumbling *AND THEN* reintroducing the cycle of violence afterwards would have been a better ending that would have aligned with whatever Yams was trying to do. Not the best ending but it would have proved his frail point better
I think aot was initially trying to communicate that humans need to work to break the cycle of violence/hatred (flashback of Kruger's convo Grisha). Obviously humans will always disagree and have conflict (whether it be protests, debates, uprisings, etc.) but conflict doesn't have to equal killing. But you're totally right, the story ending with Eren actually finishing what he intended to do and having a civil war afterwards would've been a better ending
aot ending defenders on their way to spend 5 hours explaining how Eren's step sister kissing his decapitated head freed a Dead girl thousands of years ago from slavery or how the main character killing his own mom and dad so that those who attacked his home and committed genocide against his people could live a happy and a peaceful lives makes perfect sense but those who hate the ending either or not mature enough or didn't understand it 😂
I legit saw a redditor make the concerning claim that the necro kiss was "consensual" bc Eren somehow pursed his lips?? Like the dead can't consent, are your fr? This is why I don't engage with most of the fandom online. That scene has to be one of the worst clips in anime history, like I wanna gouge it out of my memory. The "breaking free from love" theme was tonal whiplash and I honestly speculate that Yams was pushing EM for fanservice. He also had to make Ymir love Fritz to make some sort of parallel with Mikasa. In an early aot interview he stated that he wanted Mikasa to slowly distance herself from Eren, and (after the chap 50 scarf came out) he said that he still saw their relationship as familial! He originally didn't even want EM to be a thing but he bent over...
The killing his mom plot twist has to be one of the worst plot twists in fiction. It not only ruins the first scene of aot but it makes Eren lamenting over his mom seem laughable as HE was the one who did it. And not enough fans point out that it opens a bunch of questions, as how was Eren able to control Dina? Can he control any titan? How much can he control about them? How far back in history can he go to control titans? Hot take but I feel the time traveling element in general in aot wasn't a great idea. Time travel in fiction often isn't handled well in general, even in beloved franchises such as Harry Potter as the time turner subplot got dropped. Time travel opens a lot of "what ifs" and "why couldn't the character have done this?" I felt like I had to do mental gymnastics to understand how Eren manipulated GrishaTime T

He also felt regret about attacking Paradis, just not to the point it crippled his mind like Reiner. In my heart he’s the true Colossal titan, NOT fraudmin. He also deserves better than Annie
Oof, yeah. Entirely agree that the rumbling arc was not that great, and lead to the ending being ruined at the end. Build up makes everything in a good story. In fact, it makes stuff like plot twists to even cliche endings fantastic for a story. If one doesn't build up properly, no matter the ending it will fall flat on its face. Wish the anime spent its time on build up and believable survivability for certain characters (like Levi somehow walking off a missle-sized explosion like it was nothing). And for the build up, yes there is so much wrong there that ruined any possible ending that could have been put forward, even with the current state of the ending as of currently. Build up, build up, build up. Set the foundations as you work through your drafts. Don't just throw a shitty foundation in a first draft and call it done. Any shitty ending idea can work with excellent build-up and a foundation for that ending.
I don't think Levi surviving the explosion was ridiculous plot armor as he's an Ackerman, and Ackermans are practically superhuman. I do think he should've gotten more injured, and you're right, the fact that he could still fight (and survive) countless titans in spite of losing an eye and being crippled WAS plot armor. It was also fanservice, bc Yams wanted to KILL Levi at some point during the rumbling arc but his editor talked him out of it. I mean, Levi always wins the popularity polls by a LOT, so imagine how many upset fangirls would've stopped reading had Levi been offed. I believe towards the end Yams was losing passion for writing aot, according to a Japanese journalist. Which would explain why the last arc felt rushed and incoherent with plot holes. He even admitted this June that he himself doesn't find his ending that great, he said he wished he'd have the power to change it
@@celinashao4616 It's an explosion, in front of his face. He broken his ankle trying to avoid the female titan, so he's still human enough to damage his body and get hurt. But being THAT close to the blast... it's a bit more unrealistic.
@@Tavdogg11 Yeah, so I agreed that he should've been MORE injured, not just have a couple of cuts on his face. I feel that the powerscaling of the thunderspears was inconsistent bc plot armor titan Reiner took 8 of them to the neck. Maybe it was due to his armor, but I still found it hard to believe that Zeke couldn't even take one. I couldn't help but find Levi dumb for being blown up, bc like you said, he was right next to Zeke. I get he didn't understand Zeke had the balls to kill himself but at the same time, the thunderspear was tied in such a way that Zeke could've set it off if he just jerked his neck the wrong way. He could've just tied him up and continued slicing him. Not to mention, the whole reason he dragged him alive was bc he insisted on getting Zeke eaten by a titan. He wanted a painful death for him, it was def driven partly by vengeance. Erwin never ordered him to feed Zeke
Once the whole "time travel" stupidity was introduced, I just stopped watching. Felt like the show turned into a crappy soap opera where any and all twists are thrown in, even if it doesn't make sense with the overall story. It would be like throwing time travel into the finale of Cowboy Bebop, or Ghost in the Shell.
@titanten7582 Jean deserves better than Mikasa lol. Jean's unrequited feelings for Mikasa had no effect on the plot, it was only there to highlight Jean and Eren's rivalry. Yams really should've stayed away from adding romance to the story. Second, him tying Zeke up with a thunderspear while standing next to him was an obtuse decision. Sure, he might've not known Zeke would have the balls to commit suicide, but at the same time, Zeke could've easily set it off if he accidentally flinched or jerked his neck. Considering how Armin's character went downhill, I'd have to agree. Even tho Bert nuked thousands of ppl, he at least showed remorse for his actions and he cared a lot about Reiner as a friend. I respected him more than Annie and I do think he's underrated. I heard Yams hated him for some reason, despite the fact that Bert was literally the face of the franchise at first lol. I find it sadly ironic how he had the most destructive ability yet was a passive, shy person in real life. At least he didn't fall victim to Yams' bad writing post-timeskip...
I don't think it happens too often in high quality anime. It's so funny bc AoT was being hailed as the "Game of Thrones of anime." That saying aged well due to how both of their endings were incredibly messy...the only difference is that GOT fans unanimously agree s8 is shit while AoT is more divided
@celinashao4616 Yams should stop taking too much inspiration from Western media that focus on grey characters and focus on subverting expecting and just stick to decent writing
@@Spantzcatdog I agree with the subverting expectations part bc I think a lot of fans just think any “plot twist” even as something as stupid as Eren killing his mom is a good idea. But I don’t think it’s bad he takes inspiration from media with morally gray characters bc AoT is a war story and no one in war is completely pure
@celinashao4616 AoT being morally gray would've been intresting if wasn't taking inspiration from GOT consudered how bad the last two seasons of GOT was . Heck I heard Yams even took some inspirations from Breaking Bad but I'm pretty sure Breaking Bad did better.
@@Spantzcatdog I think by s4 Yams was trying to make AoT into this deep thought-provoking seinen but it was executed poorly. He wanted to portray the Rumbling as this totally villainous thing by having no one in the main cast but Floch side with Eren, but the circumstances he created made it the only option for Paradis to survive. I found it hard to feel bad for the world getting Rumbled, as it was stated multiple times that the world detested Paradis and wished they were gone. Not to mention Marley wanted to dominate the world, which was why the sent the Warriors in the first place. The "Teaming up with your enemies to fight a greater evil" thing was cliche and unrealistic to me. We even have Eren calling that concept out in the Trost arc. It's just not how war works. Another example of how I think Yams tried to communicate a "deep theme" but executed it badly was the whole "keeping children out of the forest" debacle. It's sort of hypocritical when you remember every main character joined the military when they were 10. If Sasha's family was so against dragging kids into war and violence, why did they allow Sasha to enlist in the SC in the first place? How did they forgive her so easily when Gabi didn't even feel *regret* at that time for killing Sasha? I get them not killing her but they should've shown more anger imo, especially considering how they housed her and she still calls their daughter a devil. Not to mention the Alliance still drags Gabi and Falco to help theme fight in the last scene. I thought kids weren't supposed to be involved in war and the cycle of violence? I hate it when a story doesn't execute a message properly. Yams really dropped the bag 🙄
Meh. It has good moments which counters shit ones. It's last stretch which is same shit as manga. Though anime has benefit of fancy stuff which can be seen and heard, distracting for horrendous story.

No I'd enjoy it. Eren had god-like powers during the Rumbling, but Yams neutered Eren to let his friends kill him for a plan that failed to make Paradis last
The ending is terrible for ethnic minorities and oppressed communities of the world. It's like a big " Fuck you " for having rational resentment towards our oppressors. Pacifism isn't really an option if you are being crucified. The ending unnecessarily handicapped the future of Eldians, smothered the spirit of fighting for survival and delivered a grim message. Yams should've made Marley the only big threat towards Paradis not the entire world because fuck Marley. Global genocide would've actually been properly criticized
@@imtoolazyforaprofilepic4961S4 was just disappointing. It's just another generic storytelling about war and oppression. All the mystery from the series, gone
@@Spantzcatdog I don't think aot pivoting to a story about human war and oppression (when the first three seasons were mostly about humans vs titans) was generic. The problems were that the worldbuilding was almost all "tell, not show" and the downfall of characters such as Armin, Hange, and Levi. I found the "antagonists" in s4 more compelling than the main cast. We also got introduced to many new characters that didn't get time to be fleshed out that much. I sometimes wish aot didn't have as big of a cast bc it permits only a few characters to have a well-written overall arc
@@celinashao4616 The thing is with apocalyptic series like The Walking Dead and The Last of Us, they start off with surviving against zombies then turn into some gray morality about revenge. Aot also seems to follows that type of situation except with war and racism. At least the Resident Evil game series didn't go that direction despite the lore being a mess. With the early Resident Evil games, it starts of as a survival horror about surviving zombies and other virus created and monsters in a small area and about corporate corruption, then the games started going more action packed and the story starts focusing on bioterrorism up until the 6th mainline game. The thing is Resident Evil story is B movie like so the story isn't meant to be that serious
Tbh rumbling is like the Treaty of Versailles. Also because of rumbling every nation that survived the rumbling has will power to revenge against the Paradis, Paradis is like a country run by a mustach guy leader
@@lain5858 Yeah they literally made Eldians wear star armbands and kept them in camps! I didn't feel bad when they got Rumbled. And they wanted the Founder to gain power over the whole world. Marley had been attempting to g*nocide Paradis for 100 years and they STILL declared war on them despite the island never attacking them. They had it coming to them
@@lain5858 Exactly, they made Eldians wear star armbands and kept them in camps. I couldn't feel bad for Marley when they got Rumbled. @@lain5858 Exactly, they put Eldians in restricted camps, fed an innocent girl to a dog, burned parents alive, tortured Eldians, and had no qualms about using Eldian children as war pawns. Plus didn't Marley want the Founder so they could basically conquer the world? I don't understand how fans could sympathize with the nation honestly
Ironically, you would actually need to be offended by the finale in order to make a video like this. Most fans, including myself, are fine with the ending. We're the ones not complaining haha
I think fans forget that (pre-retcon) Eren rumbled to end the cycle of violence between Paradis and the world, not "violence everywhere, in general." I couldn't help but roll my eyes when Kiyomi was like "the rumbling won't guarantee safety, it'll only make ur world smaller 😑" Hag, just bc Paradisians could have conflict with each other in the future doesn't mean they shouldn't fight back against the world oppressing them
Also the message that "the cycle of violence never ends" imo is a lame and defeatist message. Like ok, what should humans do about it then? Broadly speaking, the only two ways for a cycle of violence to be broken is 1) talk through compromise and peace and 2) keep fighting until one side of the "cycle" is gone. The SC literally tried a peace talk but even the Eldian rights group wanted Paradis annihilated. The world still declared war on them despite Paradis never attacking for a century. So it was either Paradis or the world at that point
@@celinashao4616honestly Marley should've been the only threat to Paradis not the entire world. The other countries should've been more neutral or just casualties. I refuse believe that there are nations that treat Eldians worse than a country that fed a child to dogs. Udo's statement means nothing considering he gets killed off. It would've made Season 4's plot less complicated
@@Spantzcatdog It wasn't only Udo, there are multiple characters that state that the world as a whole detests Eldians. I've seen ppl argue that Udo's statement isn't true bc he's a "dumb 12 y/o kid" but he was shown to know multiple languages at 12 so I don't think his statement means nothing. Gross (guy who killed Faye) also says that humanity wishes for Eldians to be wiped out. Kruger echos this sentiment too, and he explains that Marley is only "the nicest country" to Eldians bc they use the race as weapons. They're the "nicest" to Eldians since they give Eldians some freedom and marginal respect if they choose to be weapons. Zeke says the world doesn't want to give Eldians any rights in a chapter
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Bertholdt was wasted potential as a character. Yes, he nuked thousands of innocents but he felt remorse like Reiner. I genuinely felt bad when he got eaten alive, it's revealed that he became a Warrior bc his dad was ill and he wanted him to get better. He was a very good friend to Reiner, and I find it funny how none of the Warriors even mention the terrible fate he suffered (to the Alliance or Armin). I'm sure Reiner doesn't even get a flashback of him getting left behind. A character that was done dirty 😔
If Bert lived tho, how would the SC have used their serum? I wouldn't mind if Pieck was the one who got caught and fed bc she was the most boring out of all the Warriors. This may seem crazy, but I'd like to write a fic where Bertholdt eventually betrays Marley and sides with Eren in protecting Paradis. His dad died when the Warriors came home, so unlike Annie and Reiner, he doesn't have a reason for being a Warrior anymore. It'd also be in line with his development from a shy pushover (that did whatever Reiner did) to someone who's willing to take initiative and has his own thoughts. I'd love for one of the Warriors (besides Zeke, who only wants his euthanasia) to realize that the world detests Eldians (or at best, sees them as meat weapons like Marley) and support destroying the world. It would be a big plot twist, but it'd be decent if executed properly
@@saidal999gaming Yeah, I grew up shy and introverted as a kid so I've always had a soft spot for Bert. If he survived, what would you have liked to happen to him?
@@saidal999gaming Armin shouldn't have even survived getting burnt by Bert. His skin was literally charcoal, the skin is a vital organ and if someone's whole body is burnt like that they'd die. Everyone makes fun of Reiner for having plot armor but Armin also had massive plot armor there. I don't know how true this is but Armin is apparently one of Yams' fav characters, whereas he hated Bert, so he had to have Armin eat him...
Are jaw titans able to crush swords? I forgot the powerscaling lmao. I don't think Levi surviving from the explosion was insane plot armor but I think him still being able to fight with his crippled condition didn't make sense
This is a bit of a fan AU, so it's not consistent with cannon but, Eren should not have been the main antagonist, it should've been Wily Tybur: Why did Marley turn around and essentially continue abusing the Titan powers as Eldia did? Why is the Tybur family the only Eldians who don't face any sort of discrimination? 100 years ago, Karl Fritz and the Tybur family worked together to create a path towards world peace. Karl Fritz would give up his power, lock the founder away from the rest of the world on Paradis, and the Tybur family could use their newfound power and influence to work towards world peace. However, the Tybur family went back on their promise to Fritz. They never intended to save the world, but instead, to dominate it. They pushed for a continuation of everything Eldia did, and used their newfound Titan powers for conquest. They enriched Marley at the expense of the rest of the world, and enriched themselves at the expense of other Eldians. The operation on Paradis was no different. Marley needed natural resources to continue pillaging other nations, even at the cost of every life on Paradis. Their goal was never to "save the world" and Wily Tybur knew this. Upon discovering the real reason why he was sent to bust the wall, Reiner would turn traitor, and join the Paradis forces (instead of, you know, trying to do a genocide for the third time. I mean really, what did he think was gonna happen to his "friends" if Marley won?) The big problem with the final season of AOT, was it lacked direction and planning. I don't know what YAMs was thinking in making the MAIN CHARACTER into the final antagonist. It's something that could work, but needs careful planning to do. YAMS didn't seem to make any plans on how to develop Eren's character into a monster, he basically just turned him into one via "Magic Titan Power Future Vision", and then tried to explain it after the fact. If it turned out it was taking the series in a bad direction, well it was too late for that. I think that's why Eren couldn't explain his own motives in the end, because YAMs had no idea why Eren did what he did. He focused too much on big action at the expense of a good story. A lot of the things Eren did up until then were totally unnecessary, cuz they just could've just used Historia instead of Zeke, by either turning her into a pure titan, by feeding her Armin, or feeding her Zeke as they originally planned (It's so stupid that Eren closed off that road. The only way it could've made sense was if Eren x Historia was actually a thing.) Someone, go back in time, and push Isayama to make the Tybur family and the Warhammer into the big bad of the series. It would've made the series so much more enjoyable.

@@Thundeclap He doesn't get to satisfy his desire for freedom though. He didn't REALLY get to explore the world as he wanted to. If he survived after his genocide, I imagine that he would've gone exploring instead of back to Paradis. I think "freedom" is a goal that is totally fitting for his character. Resetting the world back to how he first imagined it, with no people outside the walls. The problem is it seemed that he had no intention of surviving to the end. It seemed that he planned/hoped to be killed by his friends. That's not exactly freedom that he sought out. In fact, his goals and his actions seem to have nothing to do with his desire for freedom. His concept of freedom was being able to explore the world beyond the walls. So if that was his goal, he really should've prioritized surviving. Isayama does turn him into a bird and then he gets to be free, but I don't think that's what anyone wanted or was expecting, including Eren. You cannot tell me he expected to turn into a bird.
Alright, so I'm gonna play Devil's Advocate just a little bit here. But before I begin, let me say I do agree with most of what was said here. This being established: 1. Complaining about the Rumbling Arc having absurd plot armor is like complaining about a Hallmark movie being lubby dubby and idealistic. I get what you're saying, but right from Season 1 of AOT one can see that it is going to be a show with absurdly outlandish plot armor. So plot armor being present in the Rumbling arc is not a new phenomenon that suddenly got thrown in. 2. Mikasa saying she loves Eren is a reflection of what happens in real life with abusive relationships. As messed up as it is, there are people in real life who defend their abusers and say they love them despite how they're being treated. I know this because I grew up in an abusive home. 3. Erwin maybe would've done a little bit to help make peace, but in the grand scheme of things, the only way the story of attack on titan drastically changes is if A. Eren or Zeke change their mind or B. One or both of them is killed (and for that, the aforementioned plot armor would need to be removed). Eren and Zeke, the two main driving characters of the story, both have a Messiah complex and believe only they are right. Eren wouldn't listen to Historia (authority; she's his commander in chief) or logic or emotional appeals. What makes you think Erwin would've been able to change Eren's mind? However, I do fully agree with Annie's redemption not being flushed out and the rumbling arc being rushed.
@@Thundeclap Yes, I understood that, and I was agreeing with what you said. The fact that Eren has a relatable flaw like that is what makes him a good character
Oof that’s such a simple question with no simple answer haha. Personally, I am working on my own AOT rewrite in my spare time. I might make a video for it, but idk. And it’s not just the ending, I’ve started from the very beginning. The first 3 seasons remain pretty much the same, just with some tweaks to improve the writing here and there, but also a couple changes. For example in my rewrite I have Connie die in the battle to retake Shiganshina and Marlo lives (I feel that Marlo was a very interesting character that was kinda wasted ngl, so I decided to keep him around instead of Connie). After the timeskip though is where my story drastically changes from the source material. I haven’t quite gotten to the ending yet but there is one thing that I am certain of: Eren will win and do a 100% Rumbling, because that’s really how it was supposed to go in the first place. It’s the only in-character conclusion for his arc. Still figuring out all the details tho
My general opinion for how it would end before the current ending was that it would be a "bad end" where Eren succeeded in rumbling and wiped out the world's population (this is a bad end, billions of innocent people dying is pretty messed up). That being said there was no way Eren could lose, he could see and influence the future. Then some time later the paradis eldians expand out into the uninhabited land and eventually start fighting again continuing a cycle of war that cannot be stopped (much like how people in season 1 were fighting each other despite thinking they were all that was left of humanity). I don't think a society that genocides the rest of the world can continue to be peaceful for a significant period of time and conflict is naturally a part of the human condition, there isn't currently a solution in real life for this (I hope in real life this changes obviously, world peace sounds nice). As for what happens to the characters I have no idea, probably live their lives knowing they failed to change anything (whether they accept this and move on or eventually Reiner themselves is up to each character.)

In the comments you can see there's even a lot of people who liked the ending that enjoyed his rewrite.
Still wondering what did Annie even like about that zesty Armin
Heck the whole "We'll be in hell together" change in the anime sounded kind of romantic and better than the "thank you for becoming a mass murder for our sake"

Na zi Germany was a fascist state. But it is not Fascism as a whole. The way that i see it, they saved us from even more cringe then the manga originally had
I feel like the fight at Shig with Eren and reiner was ok but the battle for heaven and earth was bad.
Honestly it would have been better if they saved for the end that eren had remorse in doing it instead of showing how he had remorse on killing ramzi the boy from marley
Yeah, i was looking for to see some Vinland-type of remorse but as this guy said everything was rushed
Another amazing video,❤You are absolutely right about the Floch part ,other 90 percent moments besides his dying scene he feel like a cartoonish villain only to add a bit of nuance on Eren sides, and Isayama know how to create a sympathetic and emotional villain makes me more curious how amazing Floch could have become if he get more emotional aspects on writing 😢
(I still love him though ❤)
I agree with you to an extent, I feel that Yams was so focused on the “antagonist” part of Floch he didn’t attempt to humanize/give people perspective on why he did what he did. I have to politely disagree that he was one dimensional, bc he still had character development (so called coward to military leader) and his goal of wanting Paradis to live free of humanity’s oppression was understandable. I still think he’s well written. Btw I realized after clicking on your profile that I’ve seen your art on Reddit, your art style is very cute! ❤🎨

Fun reminder that Annie and Reiner got away with genocide
Aaaand that Annie is the only character with a body count similar to Eren

Me still wondering how tf Eren being a wimp in 139 was the "real Eren" according to Ending defenders 😭
Even Isayama himself wtf how u gonna think
"Eren is back" when you're writing that garbage scene 💀
The Defense for Attack on Titan Season 4 Ending is.... It just makes no sense to be honest. Like, "Oh Erens always been an Immature Child.☝️🤓🤡", And? What's more Immature is his decision in the Ending. Instead of continuing the Rumbling he decides to stop? Which literally goes against "Protecting his People" (The Eldians of Paradis like his Mother, who was both killed by his future self and by The Marleyans.)
Stopping the Rumbling after wiping out 80% of the World's Population is a death sentence for Eldia.
It may actually take a few years and the Attack on Titan Requiem to show the Truth that Attack on Titan Season 4 Ending SUCKS.
I remember a very specific interview that Isayama did back in the day where he was asked what his ideal protagonist would be. And I’m paraphrasing here, but Isayama responded with: “a character that doesn’t lie. I enjoy a character whose will and decisions affect the story. Characters that become pawns of the story are unattractive to me.” It went something like that
Now this is ironic, because what kind of character did Eren become at the end? Oh that’s right, *a liar and a pawn of the story.* Assassinating a character is one thing, but then there’s doing a complete 180 on your entire philosophy of what a protagonist is💀💀💀

Yams should've grown a backbone and not buckled to fan/editor pressure.
The whole arc was flawed to begin with. It was alright until chapter 123 but began taking a nosedive in quality after that. Chapter 139 is really just the cherry on top of this at best mediocre pile of shit cake.

Can you make attack on titan season 1 without plot armor
Eren would've died back in s1 without plot armor lol, the santa titan conveniently forgot to chew him so he lived. Do you mean s4? Cuz man, the stakes really disappeared there. Only Hange and Magath die from the Alliance, and both of them were suicides
I'm pretty sure that WIT Studio ditched the final season cuz they saw how bad the writing was.
Back when they animated the series, they would rearrange and add more dialogue to improve the scenes.
For example Hanes's death was improved on in the anime. In the manga, Hanes literally just dies with no buildup. But exclusive to the anime, WIT Studio adds a scene of Hanes getting caught, and Eren's inner monologue where he says "If [he] can't become a titan right now, then it's all been for nothing!"
Isayama always had a problem with pacing, its just that WIT studio always helped to fix that.
He felt tied down by external pressures (fans and editors), so even he himself doesn't find his ending a "masterpiece."
I think WIT might have also cut Historia scenes bc in Japan, Historia isn't that popular.
@@celinashao4616Bro forgot wit removed 40% of uprising arc content😂
True, this arc feel rushed and many event make no sense. Many characters simply killed off/nerfed for the sake of "united against greater evil" ending
The only thing I disagreed with from your video was what you said about Floch being one-dimensional and cartoony.
At least in a few months we'll have "Attack on Titan Requiem" to set things right.
@@yunshao5261 Absolute Facts bro.
@@WallNutBreaker524 Unrelated but I’ve seen ppl have the inaccurate take that Annie is more sympathetic than Floch, bc Annie feels “bad” for killing her enemies whereas Floch doesn’t feel guilty for anything…
First, they conveniently forgot that Annie said she’d do it all again.
Would've been better than what we got
4 Months later, and I'm back to rewatching this video again for the 6th time cuz I was reminded that AoT's ending existed by a Reaction Channel.

Those with the pen will stab you and use your blood as ink to write their own narratives.
Yams should've made Marley the only big threat towards Paradis not the entire world because fuck Marley. Global genocide would've actually been properly criticized
@@SpantzcatdogIsayama tries to push everything to the Cycle of Hatred, yet refuses to complete the rambling to prove his point.

B-But mah cycle of violence?! 🥺
@@celinashao4616 True, the plot would've been less complicated if Marley was the only threat.
make what if bertholdt was alive
It would be a big plot twist, but it'd be decent if executed properly

should change the title to clickbait ending defenders cuz pretty sure we're all haters in here lol
This is a bit of a fan AU, so it's not consistent with cannon but, Eren should not have been the main antagonist, it should've been Wily Tybur:
Why did Marley turn around and essentially continue abusing the Titan powers as Eldia did?
I mean really, what did he think was gonna happen to his "friends" if Marley won?)
The big problem with the final season of AOT, was it lacked direction and planning.
The only way it could've made sense was if Eren x Historia was actually a thing.)
Someone, go back in time, and push Isayama to make the Tybur family and the Warhammer into the big bad of the series.

Great video
Alright, so I'm gonna play Devil's Advocate just a little bit here. But before I begin, let me say I do agree with most of what was said here. This being established:
He doesnt even understand that deep down eren main motives that drive him to choose rumbling is desire to satisfacting his false freedom
@@Thundeclap this too. Eren's flawed motivations for the rumbling is a CHARACTER flaw, not a series flaw.

Im actually curious to know - If y'all could rewrite the ending of AOT, how would you do it?
@@opie_yt thanks for replying! this was a great insight, would love to watch your vid
@@sarahmathew8408 hey thanks! Now I actually have to finish the rewrite😅
