It’s kinda funny how Ken is shown to be someone who didn’t half ass anything.
Like his resume brochure.
Remember this film was made before digital applications became common. So his idea to add some extra flair to his applications is noticeable.
Sure, he doesn’t have the longest list of skills to put on it, but by god at least he tried to get a job. Even if in an unconventional way.
While Barry, our hero, spends the movie f”king around with different things, never committing to anything until he at the end just decides to become a class action lawyer.
Barry claims that Bees are the hardest workers in the world but half the scenes we get of them is slacking off.
While Ken does really try. Maybe he has some OCD or spectrum disorder that makes it hard to find a job and he clearly cares about routine and stability in his life. But by god, he will keep on trying.
Y'know what, this is getting a pin. I LOVE it
getting 2nd place to a bee when you are actually that great a guy is actually depressing... hope he went on to invest into bitcoin
Ken is the unsung hero
Ken did nothing wrong
That was kinda beautiful...
HE WAS KENOUGH.
If a someone leaves you for a bee, you dodged a nuclear missle.
Is that more or less dangerous than a nuclear missile?
@@davidcrooks8642 If it's under similar circumstances as the movie, yes 100%
Otherwise, nah, it's like the man said, it's just a bee, wait a few months and it'll be gone

And then he just middle fingers Vanessa to flip her off while showing off his incredible new girlfriend who loves him the way he is, he feels the same way about her and they have a lot in common like Yogurt night and Star Wars.

I think generally bee allergies only apply to their venom, but still maybe dangerous

i’ve never heard of anyone who was allergic to bees in their entirety, just getting stung by them, but you may have a point lol i never considered it either

Even as a kid i was cheering for Ken because wth, a human with a bee??? Ew, no
Just to sum Ken correctly up:
He may not be *a* normal person but it’s his reactions to everything Barry and Vanessa do that are.
Especially considering you're deathly alergic to bees.
@ Vanessa: lets Barry use his razor
Ken: Tells her she’s allergic to bees
Vanessa: *says nothing about it*
Yea, so, this woman clearly is insane, he did dodge a huge bullet there. Sure, he is a dick, but not totally unreasonable, and honestly, he is the only sane person in this entire damn movie that acts somewhat normal.
What about the fat lawyer, or the people who were beekeepers?
Screw normal
He’s not even really a dick. He’s boisterous, maybe a little eccentric, and competitive sure, but like yogurt night was something he was actively excited to have with his girlfriend, and while he may be a little dumb he was at least actively trying to find a job.

Patrick Warburton is my favorite voice I media.
My #2 is John Benjamin (Archer, Bob's Burgers)
Kronk,joe swanson, sherrif bronson stone
DUDE I HAD NO IDEA IT WAS KRONK, HOW DID I MISS IT😭😭
I was always so focused on all the logistical issues with the movie that I never even thought about how weirdly awful the attempt at some sort of message it tried to make was.
I think all of the “suing the human race” and stuff is secondary, the kind of stuff an English teacher wants you to think about. You know, “the curtains were blue because the author is depressed” thing?
I think the movie was JUST about how important bees are. It’s not about conformity to the system or how bad humans are, it’s not even about Ken and how weird it is his gf left him for a bee.
It’s JUST about the fact that bees are important, and we need to make sure they stick around. For life’s sake
The video had me confused for a minute. I knew the message when I watched the movie, even though I knew the movie was weird. But the video creator going off on some kind of film-theory tangent scrambled my thoughts for a bit
We need to be out here saving the bees n all that, that’s all. Not dating them, fuck that. But save them yes
That bees got reparations before descendants of slaves did?
@@sharkbait5557 Yeah, that's all I got from the movie when I watched it. "Bees are important, we can't get rid of them". But also a little "we can treat them nicer because they are so important".
@@sharkbait5557This takes place in New York where honeybees are an invasive species though.
The first red flag was her comparing his life to a bees. The second that I would've considered leaving her for, was tearing something you worked hard on, that you were proud of, in half, without a single shit given.
The worst part about tearing up the brocureme is that she literally didn't have to. She could have just folded it up he was already in the cup.
Well to be fair she was seduced by a bee over him that's got to be a huge shot in the pride
thirdly was giving bedroom eyes to a bee lol
Let's be honest; Ken is better off without Vanessa. He's not great, but she's downright horrible.
and he's one of the few only normal characters in the movie (Layton kind of counts) so it's good that he got separated and broke up.
Yeah
Is he voiced by the same guy from Joe in family guy
@infile-ps5rq yes
He's good, but not prime Mr. Beast
let me ask you a question, who do you think would be more in the wrong here:
a guy with mild anger management issues whos girlfriend dumped him for an insect, and the worst thing he ever tried to do was swat a bee, which he is allergic to
OR, a talking bee who almost dooms the entire planet just so that he could be a freeloader, because he was too blinded by his own selfishness to think about the implications of his actions?
Personally I wouldn't even say he has anger issues. He's overly vocal and passionate but tell me a time he gets disproportionately angry and reacts heavily
The bees weren't freeloaders
Trick question. Its totally the girlfriend who dumped her boyfriend for an insect and enabled a narcissistic freeloader to almost doom the planet. Because she should have known better than a literal animal.
Yes😮
Definitely the bee. 😬🤮
The oddity to think about this plot is how never until this very point did humanity notice insects and humans could mutually communicate.
It would be such an excellent world if we could just tell bugs "Stay outside of our homes, don't sting us, we'll plant you extra flowers. Deal?"
Yeah like thousands of years interacting with each other and years of research by scientists but humans never figured out bees can just talk
Umm. Considering that we destroy their natural home to build ours. That negotiation would probably fall through.😅
@@blackmagician7645 They'd probably rather be built better-than-natural homes, for rather obvious reasons...
@@blackmagician7645 Pretty sure a lot of that is because we don't realize they are sentient intelligent beings. The comment stands: If we can speak English to them, and they have a monopoly on pollination, we would obviously negotiate with them. It's not like every single windowsill in NYC cant have a pot of flowers with little to no effort.
They would arguably get MORE flowers if they spoke to us.
@blackmagician7645 unless you feel like installing Suicide booths or culling the human population we NEED places to live.
And that means either more homes get built or grandma gets thrown into a nursing kennel and Uncle gets either sent to prison or fined into poverty for keeping 3-5 houses to impress "bytches".
Every graduation is a group of people who needs homes that isn't being built or rented for a true livable life.

Sucks because Bee farmers aren’t demented psychopaths or something, and the bees aren’t slaves. They stay because everyone benefits in the transaction
There's a lot wrong with this movie. Male mosquitos don't drink blood, they eat nectar, if honey bees in US would stop pollinating entire world wouldn't go to shit
I believe Bees will literally just leave if they aren’t happy with their hive. Bees and beekeepers have really good relations because the Bees get the best housing, usually free comb frames, AND protection from predators. I get the point of the movie is “bees are important to the ecosystem,” but bees being exploited in the movie is weird. Literally the only livestock that doesn’t get exploited.
@ I have a few cousins that are vegan, but they still use honey. My father asked why because he equated honey to milk, and they explained “Milk is taken from an animal was forcefully inseminated and being milked exclusively for consumption, instead of for its baby. Bees are the only livestock that even come close to consenting in given up their honey”
In the words of Markos, "Everybody benefits!"
@coffeecartoons5345 I've met vegans who wont eat honey, because its "slave made" by bees.
Ironicly they eat agave as a substitute, which is a million times worse for the environment because the farmers are killing mass amounts of birds and bats that eat agave.

Apparently Jerry Seinfeld pitched the idea of this movie to a friend of his as a joke idea, and the friend was genuinely so interested in it he helped produce it. But probably isn’t the weirdest way a movie got created, huh?
Y'know, I'm here for it. It was a god awful movie, but it'll forever have a place in my heart
This is the only normal way I think the movie could’ve been conceived
The whole behind the scenes isn’t that surprising considering studios and Hollywood is 70% connections and nepotism in getting something launched off the ground. Imagine all the great scripts and concepts we never get to see come to life because the person doesn’t have an influential producer friend
That actually explains so much
That explains a lot
Conspiracy theory: Ken is schizophrenic and had a mental break when he saw the bee and got his brochure got ripped. Probably a fan of Seinfeld too. Poor bastard.
I still don't understand why Vanessa needed to rip the brochure. It would've worked just fine if it was intact
@PonConAgain9718maybe she was just in an unhappy relationship with Ken and wanted to bug him? (no pun intended)
Just an edited version where he had a stroke or something from high cholesterol and just imagined the rest of the movie from a hospital with Seinfeld playing during the daytime television hours
Jesus Christ loves you
Dang, a Seinfeld fan? That's not a fate I'd wish on anyone.
Ken bending the spoon while trying to scoop out ice cream is the most relatable thing in this movie.
I like how we’re supposed to think Ken is insane for the way he reacted to Berry at first but this guy literally just reacted the way anyone would to seeing their friend almost eat a bee and him freaking out is even more justified since you know he’s allergic to bees. Heck I’m not allergic to bees and even I freak out

crazy to me how he's painted as the villain. from what it sounds like is that they had a very toxic relationship, instead of trying to talk things out Vanessa just sits on her hands during the entirety of their relationship. like jeez, it felt like Ken was the only one who actually tried to put the work into the relationship. i have a theory that Ken has difficulty picking up social cues and i feel like instead of trying to meet Ken halfway, or even sit down with him to try and work things out, she immediately gave up on the relationship. or maybe she was never invested in the first place, considering she immediately jumped to cheating on him the moment she found someone attractive. not to mention it felt like she didn't care about his allergies, idk if allergies maybe work different in the movie considering the differences in biology to irl bees but letting the bee use his razor? and he's scared of bees. he tries to hide it, but it's obvious if you even think about it for a moment. and instead of trying to comfort him, she chastises him for daring to try and hurt a bee, which was believed to be not sentient the first time it happens. i think Vanessa doesn't actually care about all life like she says. cause it's kind of obvious she doesn't care about Ken at all. if i was allergic to bees why would i take the chance to cup it then carefully carry it over to the window? what if that agitates it?
not to say this is a flaw of the writers, this is good human writing. which is even stranger cause this is the bee movie we're talking about.
"the moment she found someone attractive." umm sir it's a BEE and no matter how it's supposed to be just a fantasy movie it's still crazy to me😭

The whole "the flowers are gone" thing was so silly. It was the thing that bothered me the most about the movie since the honey bee people harvest from wasn't even native to north America, so the ecosystem wouldn't have been largely affected. Even now one of the main produce affected by those particular bees is almonds and of course honey. But like also flowers are basically just plant 🍆 so if they don't reproduce a lot of the plants would just bloom next season to try again later
Bees are also not the only pollinators, there are many other insects and other animals that help pollinate flowers and plants.
@@brandonlyon730 Honey Bees are probally one of the more terrible pollenators pollenation-wise in North America that is. Its just people make a massive hoopla over it because they produce honey.
A lot of problems would be caused if bee's went exstinct its just more nuanced than the world ending. 35% of polonation is deppendant on honey bees. Losing that is objectivly going to cause harm
However, the end of the world not so much. The bee movie provides a simplified view on what if Bee's said no.
There were wild bees pollinating all of the flowers and crops in north america long before honeybees were brought here, and honeybees are actually partially responsible for the decline and threat of extinction to native bees (along with human-caused habitat loss) because they kill them, either through direct competition (honeybees are often a lot larger) or through spreading diseases that the native bees have no resistance to. Honeybees are a farm animal, they will never go extinct as long as humans have an invested interest in keeping them alive for their products. The same cannot be said for our native insects.

As a legitimate Bee Movie stan I really like the idea of Ken coming by Vanessa's shop to taunt her over Barry being the one to essentially almost destroy her business and end the world. A scene with them having a back-and-forth would definitely add a bit of depth to Vanessa's character in whatever way the writers choose- maybe she's defensive and lets it slip that she really did this out of love for Barry. Or maybe she's regretful but knows now it's too late to turn back, since she burned all her bridges by being involved with the case.
I just really think Ken needs a more fleshed-out personality or at least a couple more scenes. It'd be one of the many improvements that I make to make the movie actually good.

Hello meep
*There are so many facts about bees in this movie. Fact 1: Bees don't have families like in this movie. It's more like an ant colony where bees have a queen, and she has all the babies. Fact 2: Worker bees only live for 2 months to 5 months in the winter. Queen bees can live up to 5 years. Fact 3: Male bees (drones) don't do squat for the hive only living for about a month or 2, unless it's winter. Since then, they get kicked out to freeze in the snow since they take up precious resources and honey. The only time they have a use is when they have to fertilize the queen that they quite literally die from doing. So even in this movie the bee would die if him and the women got together like in the graphic way you described it, it would've ended with those organs quite literally exploding. Fact 4: As he pointed out that even if honeybees go exstinct, there are hundreds to thousands of different species of butterflies, moths, beatles, bats, birds, rodents, wasp, and many many different kinds of bees that pollinate which would be better then honeybees being they are actually native to the plants around them unlike honeybees which are literally an invasive species that people just let take over everywhere since the honey tasty, these bees killing native pollinaters to keep them away from their territory. Fact 5: All worker bees are female, all of them, they all are female and infact they can choose the queen themselves, if they don't like their queen they will kill her, and then give special royal honey to some babies and whoever hatches first into an adult will go around killing the others to claim queen for herself. Fact 6: Unlike what vegans will tell you, honey is infact technically vegan. Since Bees know you're taking their honey, and if they don't like it, they will just leave, they will get up and leave the farm and find a new place to move. So infact honeybees do consent to you taking the honey. (I'd also count chicken eggs as vegan if you have pet chicken and no male since those eggs will go bad if they aren't eaten and will just rot, I figure eggs from company aren't vegan since the chickens are living there just to be egg harvested but if you have pet ones and are vegan and those chicken lay eggs if theirs no chance for a baby I'd say dig in or feed the egg back to the chicken since they also really enjoy eggs. (Don't do this if there is a male or since they will learn eggs are good and will break the eggs open to start eating them themselves even if theirs a baby inside.) Fact 7: Even if what happened with the bees stopping pollination and all the other pollinators agreed not to pollinate either all the plants would not die like in the movie, it'll just not create seeds. It'll be just like your indoor plants. They don't get pollinated, but they don't just wilt like how they do in the movie? Plus, if humans did need to make seeds to sell or grow more flowers, what most places do is hand pollinate, like vanilla seeds you need to hand pollinate them or else they won't make vanilla at all. Here are my facts that I think the movie got wrong. If I missed any or got any wrong, please add it below.*
The only thing I would argue is that worker bees seem to care more for their "sisters" than for drones since they share more genetic material, so you could argue that they have a VERY orecary form of family (a disfunctional one at that, since the workers' interests sometimes go against the queen's interests)

Oh my god, that is going to be so tragic to listen to.😭

8:35 Poor Winnie the Pooh, wanted that honey.
1:10 I never understood the cough scene.. like you heard that but not the screaming and conversation going on between the bees??? Did everyone in the world hold their breath so Ken could hear that??? That part always bothered me 🧐🧐
imagine being the girl who dated a bee- in a couple years when our main characters dead kens gonna be living his best life xD
Do bees even live years?
@@persondavis1294 queen bees live for 2 years, while worker bees live for 30 days aka a month.
Let's hope she doesn't go after worms next time 😂
Was just thinking yesterday when you will make a video about the bee movie! Happy to see it came to be :D
Script Writers: Hey, let's make a bee talk and fall in love with a human.
Also them: Let's also have the human dump her bf for the bee.
Yes, I liked my own comment
Wait, how did all the plants die anyway? Pollination just lets them make NEW plants
Also if the bees stopped pollinating, they would't have any food to raise new baby bees.
I mean that's the whole point of pollination - Insects get food to raise their offspring and plants get to reproduce. Humans have nothing to do with this interaction.
Maybe the plants could sue us for stealing the fruits afterwards🤣
@@Der_WaldmeisterHell, even then, the reason plants create fruit is to entice animals to eat them, in turn eating the indigestible seeds and shitting them out away from the parent tree with a bunch of nutrients. In every way, Barry fucked up the ecosystem because he couldn’t understand the idea of a symbiotic relationship in nature.
This movies message was probably how important Bees are. But I think it's actually about the dangers of overcorrection.
7:53 he is a human supremacist, respect
Long live the human race ! Let us enslave the whole animal kingdom as before, especially the monkeys !
“WHY IS YOGURT NIGHT SO DIFFICULT!?”
A question that even scientists can’t answer.
The pressure from everything that happened got to Ken so hard that he broke his spine, became crippled, then he moved to Rhode Island, Legally changed his name to “Joe” and started a family with a woman named Bonnie.
This is unbeelivable
Terrible pun there mate! Buzz off!
@@louiswright8282 That one's a bit beetter
@ Beehive yourself my friend!
Stop beeing mean
I know this is about kens perspective but north america prospered before the introduction of honeybees there would be no reason america would fall apart because honeybees decided to take some time off. Native bees and other pollinators do all the work!
2:13 guess the gun I have specifically to kill bees is worthless huh
Ken in fact did not like jazz
I never really thought about how obvious Barry and Vanessa are. Its one thing for your friend or boyfriend to think youre dating a random bug. Its another to have a lawyer who's seen you maybe a few hours a day also come to that conclusion
We just not gonna talk about this guy having a superpower lmao, he heard a bee cough, and not just right up in his ear but from quite far away
The "honeymoon" joke tho... 😂
Barry: I am suing humanity!
Judge: This is a human court and we have sovereign immunity.
If the movie was from Ken’s perspective it wouldn’t be a light hearted comedy. It’d be a psychological thriller
Bro dodged a nuke. What woman leaves her partner for a bee?! Ken is the real victim of the bee movie
I think that's why people say bee-atch.
i absolutely love the idea that Ken is hate-watching the trial on tv lmaoooooo
I forgot how relatable, "WHY IS YOGURT NIGHT SO DIFFICULT?????" was. Like, it can be so hard to make time for your loved ones, and that's rough. Like genuinely, that's some very real frustration!
I feel that
Maturing is realizing Ken had every right to act the way he did
YEAH! That's the ONE! Dude's worst crime was to either be with Vanessa or being a tad self-centered, nothing more, nothing less.
“The world is ending because your girlfriend fell in love with a bee.” Is a sentence I never thought I’d ever hear.
Growing up is realizing Ken was right about Barry.
If Ken had just killed Barry at the beginning of the film, so much trouble would’ve been avoided
This movie is dumb because laws don’t work retroactively. The companies shouldn’t have had to pay back the honey. Plus, most honey is gotten buy bees choosing to give it as it is a beneficial relationship. They really got shit lawyers despite having billion
I mean technically Barry is like 2 weeks old at the time of the trial, so... yeah I can't imagine his solicitation skills are really THAT good...
So you are telling me that a insect and a Unfaithful Florist got closer to eradicating all live on earth then most anime villains will ever get? Yes that sounds pretty insane.
He was surely the most reasonable and sane person in that movie, and I mean that.
Ken's only crime is being a handsome chap stuck in a crazy world where ppl would entertain a hearing on procedural objections raised by a bunch of BEES.
The fact that he’s also allergic to bees is diabolical
Picture this: "You are a normal human..." I had to think about whether Ken qualifies or not and had to come to the conclusion that depressingly enough, he probably does.
Even as a kid, watching this movie made me feel like Vanessa was a red flag and Barry was a world-ending freeloader.
