    Thank's Sharing Your Travels!
I so much want more, but we found the 23FT with x large slide
The 2021 Tundra 1794 drags it up down the road and dirt 4x4 easily. We get some very awesome camping spot and we aren't RV park seeker.
I just can't give up, getting off road in the mountains, as our home base is in North America mountains anyways. But we love your setup, truly very very nice!
Happy you guy's are doing it!!!
    Thanks, go slow, stay safe!

Irene I have learned that on tight roads and on any tight area, if I keep my right leg on the edge of the “oil line” that is in the center of your lane then your trailer will always be good.
You do an amazing job!!! Thank you for the videos!!

I love watching you two. I live in Hesperia so not far from Big Bear. I use to have to drive hwy 18 through Lucerne to Big Bear for work. When I seen you were taking that way, I thought your in for a white knuckle drive. Totally doable but those switchbacks and sometimes the other drivers on the road can really add to the stress. Once I was stuck there on the switchback for 1hr because a big rig couldn’t do the turn, Inch by inch and back and forth he finally got it. But worth the location and weather that’s for sure. Don’t know if I would want to do a bumper pull going that way. But I’m still new to rving and towing a trailer.

We used to snow ski and hike in the Big Bear area back in the 80’s. One hike we did without any water and begged some people to let us have their water bottle then of course drank the stream water without any filters. We all survived the hike 😅

That RV park in Mesquite is our go to park when visiting my parents. They live about one mile away. We were there for a month May-June. Will be back for another visit in December. Love the little side gate to Smiths grocery store. I like to go in the mornings when they are doing markdowns. Got a 1 pound pork tenderloin for $2.70. 12 ounce package of thin slices pork for $1.65.

Great Driving Chris! I would've been a wreck. I'm throwing my hat in the ring for slider windows. We actually downsized from an Interstate 19 to a Solis Pocket, about 2' difference, and we love the airflow we get in our tiny Solis. The windows were canopy in the Interstate and they slide in the Solis. Love your location for the next two weeks. Enjoy it out there, it looks stunning.

These videos just get better and better! Your music is always so nice, and most often apropos for the scene. Chris is SUCH a rockstar!!! Aaron too, taking care of the video to make it fun and engaging, the electrical and internet so you can share. I so enjoy watching these videos.
Being a trucker, I can tell you what you went through is just a start. Nice to have a spotter, but I've been in situations where I had to back a 45' trailer, behind a conventional tractor with a sleeper (so no looking out the rear window for backing) through an entire condo complex in Wyoming because the guys I was delivering sod for told me I could get out the back of the complex. There was NO way out the back (I coulda killed 'em!) and then wouldn't guide me out. Cars and overhangs everywhere, no line-of-sight in the mirror; just the tiny bullet spots for blind corners. Spotters are golden. You are a great team.
14 days of relaxation (minus defrag time and whatever planning time on leaving), and I hope you enjoy every second of it! Great video! Happy relax time!

The route you took was the rough drive. The best way up there is when you enter from the south side of the mountain.
Just a suggestion since we'vecamped in those areas before and people like to burn pallets watch out for nails. Check the area you're going to pull your RV into just to be safe.

Keep your vehicle in your respective lane, please. Riding the center is reckless and irresponsible, several times when I was on my motorcycle, or in my car, a heavy truck or rv'er would be doing that. I barely managed to avoid them, so far, without contact and/or wrecking. Damaging your rig is far less costly than injury or death to another motorist. Thank you.

We have been pulling our 36' 5th wheel all over Idaho mountain roads and boondocking on BLM and forest service land for the last 4 years. Do yourself a favor and invest in some leveling wedges (Anderson are great but there are other cheaper options). Also the LevelMate Pro wireless sensor makes it much easier to see where you need to add blocks, etc. The auto-level systems are great but you do need to be pretty close to level before you set them loose or you will run out of jack length. I keep 8 4"x6", 4 8"x8" and several 2"x6" wood blocks in the trailer so I have lots of options for leveling. Also, on those dirt roads, keep it slow especially over dips and potholes as it is very easy to hit the bed rails on the under side of the trailer. If you are going slow it is less likely to cause any major damage.

Great video! I enjoyed the parts on Highway 18, as I (Glenn) spend a lot of time in my youth in that area. Sheila is from the East Coast, but I have showed her around, but never up to Big Bear with the RV. Yet. ;)

AWESOME!!! Should of had a "Whoa" counter for Chris. She handled it like a Pro!!!! Had the adrenaline going for sure...that's actually a huge help.Use to get it when I would run 90-100mph on calls with lights and siren.
Love seeing you boondocking again, especially in the mountains. Love mountains! Can't wait to see the new solar/Li system up and running.....I know it will be awesome.
June and Louie were their usual great little dogs
As always, thanks for bringing us along!

We love Big Bear CA! It’s such a great mountain town. Especially in the summer months. Seeing that hair pin turn on your GPS brought back memories 😨 We were coming down the mountain in that direction. We tried to turn off on a small shoulder to let cars pass. But there’s was a tree branch and…… that’s were we got our first pin stripe on our RV 🤭 You will love it there! Make sure to check out the downtown area. There are a couple of breweries in town. And it’s California, you’ll find good food no matter where you go!

Did your disc brakes come OEM or did you have them retrofitted?

It was done OEM at Alliance as a factory option from MorRyde. Something new they are offering at the factory. 👍

Independent suspension and disc brakes, priceless! Chris you are my inspiration! After several years of research we are hoping to get out on the road in the next year. I will be the primary driver and have only towed an overloaded UHaul many moons ago. I will be 64 and currently drive a 1500 RAM, and like Rain Main am an excellent driver. Just hoping I can do as good a job as you do.

My old trailer has Jalousie windows that crank open. Great for airflow, but a weak point for insulation. I have an exhaust fan in the bathroom to create a breeze if there isn’t one. Eventually I will put an AC unit on the other roof vent since a lot of places are getting too warm now.
I like Walmart for veggies. I vaguely remember that they try to source from nearby instead of bringing them from the other side of the world and a lot of veggies are grown in California. Some farms are moving into Mexico if they can’t get labor into the US, but it’s still not too far away.

Great video. I stopped at that same truck stop last year. Went to Hoover Dam, AWESOME, and had never been to Vegas. Stopped at the truck stop then drove around Vegas a little never stopping and left. Not my kind of place. Looks like a great spot you guys found. The professional driver made it look easy.

Thanks for vlogging what it's really like to drive & maneuver a 5th wheel that size. I'm looking at an Arctic Fox 32' fiver but those things are built even heavier & taller. Great for withstanding winds but more of a challenge in the mtns. Great to know diesel is the better way to go when it comes to hauling something like that on grades... just wish I could avoid the DEF hassle...😑

I agree with the windows. I have awning type but wish I had the Slide type for better breeze. My norcold also has a lot of humidity, I noticed lettuce and cheese seems to go bad quickly.

A bar in a truck stop whatever could go wrong with that? Back in the 60's my family used to camp in the area that you are staying in. Seeing the Heart Bar sign brought back some pleasant memories. Thanks guys.

when your route planning one way to check out roads is with googles 'street view' can be very helpful when choosing between different routes. also a Rand McNally Road Atlas will show you which routes truckers are recommended to avoid and which ones are recommended for truckers.

Glad to see you back, I was into the boat build, but maybe next time, don't you, the Wynn's, and Billy and Sierra don't do it all at the same time. We've seen enough boat factories for now, let's see some secluded coves.
