      you don't need to do this, Ex4+ mission is the hardest. and ex4+ mission is the hardest when you using gun then two sword(not enough time to move and shoot and dodge ), The hardest is when you start at online during fighting ex4 boss, some one join the game, than boss ai turn to level 2-4 in the same time, then you probably get the catcar combo by the ai up leveling

      Personally I think greatsword should go a bit higher in difficulty. While it’s easy to swing it at the target dummy and learn it’s combos, most players that don’t also know the monsters (ie new players) can time out very easily cuz they can’t do enough damage/don’t have the openings. Just a personal thought. I tried to start with gs way back in tri.

    I have to disagree for GS. While the move set is simple, you have to know monsters moves a lot more than other weapons. You have to spend time with the weapon, getting used to its speed and know what you’re hunting. I’d personally put it in between medium and hard because it’s simplicity, but you need the knowledge to use the weapon properly.

      100% this. I’m running GS for the first time and even with the new, less charge-focused playstyle I’ve been forced to pay much closer attention to monsters than ever before. It’s actually making me wish I’d picked it up sooner, as I feel like it’s forcing me to become a better player overall!

      Okay now here me out I’m a decently good veteran causal MH player. Not too good, not too bad. Picked up GS around a month and a half ago, didn’t even go to the training room to test it out learners it in about two hours against valstrax and the apexes. Not to mention that I absolutely beat their asses with 8 minute runs after just picking it up. Even with that said though, I’d still put in the middle of the road in terms of how easy it is to use. Although, by all accounts it is an extremely skillful weapon when it comes to games throughout the series. Respect to all GS mains out there.

      @@scarsch2818 I get what you’re saying but at that point, you’ve played Monster Hunter enough to understand the attack patterns and such of the monsters already. So it would be natural for you to get the timings right pretty quickly. One of the reasons I main GS because it forces you to learn the monster a lot quicker to make sure you hit those big damage TCS and RS. That being said, however, for somebody new to Monster Hunter picking up the GS thinking it’s easy is going to have a pretty rude awakening when they don’t get the damage they want without the knowledge they need beforehand. I wouldn’t consider it mechanically hard by all means lmao. The smoothest brain weapon mechanically requires some of the most monster knowledge out of all the weapons.

    From what I see from streamers new to lance so far, despite being a simple weapon, people usually get thrown off by the Lance when they try it for the first time due to how slow and not flashy it is. @@darkhero2 As a gunlance main, it will not fix the issue that we will run into with the content updates coming. At base rise, Gunlance actually was pretty strong, but then new armor sets released for other playstyles and the other weapons got more damage options, and could affect their damage in more ways. With Gunlance, shell damage can only be increased so much, and the rest of it is just increasing pokes which are pretty strong now, but still you have to split your skill slots into to buffing two forms of dps (shells and physical). So, meaning that the armor sets we have right now will probably be the optimal sets for gunlance to use throughout the entire content cycle.

    The thing with SnS is, it can be a bit deceptive. I think people have started respecting the weapon a bit more in the more recent games, but there was a point where people barely played it, for a simple reason: They heard it was the beginner weapon, played it, were very underwhelmed with the results, concluded it was bad and moved on to bigger weapons.
    Because SnS has somewhat of a hidden, second skill floor, going from just "playing it" to sufficiently utilizing its kit to its fullest and keeping an excellent uptime, as the low motion values on basically all of its basic attacks mean that you need to be constantly hitting the monster to keep up damagewise, unless you want to find yourself taking half an hour to kill anything.
    Like, take CB for instance: If you don't know what you are doing, then you will at least realize as much, because it's you whiffing attacks or not figuring out how the mechanics work. And odds are, even then you probably won't take too long to kill the monster because it has really powerful attacks. With SnS, you will trick yourself into believing that you are playing it well because you are hitting the monster and are not getting hit, when in fact you aren't performing any better and losing out on way more damage.

    • @BadEnd98
      @BadEnd98 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Not a really fair point because I think except Bowguns, EVERY weapons need to be mastered at high level, make use of slightest moves that casual players didn't think of... to make the best out of it's dps. Like those speedrunner always do atleast 2x faster kill compare to the same weapon used, and I use lot of weapons. Back then SnS dps can be underwelming but since MHGU and MHWI it's a beast, in Sunbreak too

      I don't understand why you're comparing it to CB, the only weapon that literally STOP YOU FROM DAMAGING MONSTER if you don't know how to store the phial. You would constantly be bouncing with Sword/Shield mode until you learn how to store those phial, or switch to Axe mode, which is possibly on par with lance, unsheathed GS, and HBG as some of the least mobile weapon in the game.

    Glaive can be a bit confusing at first, but can be fun to use too. After I looked into the new kinsects, some of them are pretty good. Hell, I didn't even know there was an ability with them out using strong+normal attacks. Drawing in powders if you can is really satisfying. Wish we had more types available in Sunbreak, but I had to move on from the convenience of sapping two buffs at once at some point.

    • @gwagner1380
      @gwagner1380 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Also as a glaive main, the new speed kinsect while not flashy as the boosted powder or vortex kinsect, the new speed ones can work as a reverse Dragon Piercer that can either Cut monster parts/Stun in a reliable manner and topple monsters.
      If you charge the new speed insects if the monster is between you and the bug, it will pierce the monster when called back from 4 to 8 hits. The stun variant is basically a topple/stun machine and it is pretty satisfying as their damage stack up and can do several interruptions quite consistently during the hunt as the charge is super fast and the damage is quite nice as well at higher Kinsect levels.
      I'm a HH and IG main and Rise/Sunbreak has been a treat, now with Espinas on Sunbreak that mean the embargo/contract that kept MH:Frontier stuff out of our reach is done so we could also expect Tonfa, Magnet Spike and possibly Accel Axe to join the rooster in a future game! A big factor in how easy a weapon is to pick up is the game plan.
    While a versatile weapon like sns can be good for a new player, it lacks a clear game plan (since the plan is to do everything).
    On the other hand, a new player with a hammer can easily see that the goal is to bonk the head, and the moving charge means they can hold it, wait for the opening, then bonk.
    And when you want to switch weapons once you've acquired a bit of experience, you'll have an easier time understanding the great sword game plan than the sns game plan.

    People need to stop saying that Dual Blades lack damage. They don’t. They lack damage PER HIT. This is balanced out by the fact that they hit extremely quickly and even do multiple hits per input. It’s a very simple concept. If one weapon hits for 10 damage and another can land two 5 damage hits in the same time frame, their DPS is the same. If you want to say their damage output is low, then you’ll need to explain how that works relative to other weapons and what they can output.

Have played from the beginning (MH on PS2 & so on). Some weapons I hate with a passion. Insect Glaive is pure garbage imo. Bow is super boring. Lance & dual blades are meh (1 does boring pokes, the other is like you running around & pretending to hunt monsters with 2 kitchen knives, was never able to take DB hunters seriously). Hunting horn is just weird (can't say if it's bad or not, never bothered to master it - something tells me that going out of your way for certain buffs in the middle of combat is going to be annoying, even more so when they are not optimal moves for real combat. Also looking for openings to buff yourself or others feels annoying. Aren't those wasted seconds you could be doing damage instead?). All the other weapons are quite fun & make sense.

      Regarding the main comment. I might take Insect Glaive, play a whole game with it but end up hating it still. So it is clearly not about which weapon you play the most within 1 MH game.. Over the course of multiple series, people want variety, play a weapon or 2 with each series to get good at it but some just won't click with them. Plus the fact that some weapons are more fluid in one game than the other.
      My opinion on all the weapons from my previous comment stay true. I would add a major point into the calculation for the blunt weapons (Hammer/ HH):
    With the sharp weapons you can basically attack the monster form where ever you like.
    With the blunt weapons you will have to go for the head, to deal a good amount dmg, which is usually the part of a monster where u do not want to stand, because they focus their attacks usually on the frontside of their bodies.
    This is especially noticible with rajang, for him i would always go for a sword, because you definetly dont want to look into that mans eyes/fists.

But utising onsta block and anchor rage takes high knowledge of monsters and timings. He's talking about one of three skill thresholds, and it's the lowest one. The bare minimum to access the functions of sword and shield are pretty X or A to attack and hold R, back A to do a charged attack for aerial, and press Y to use an item. The bare minimum to access the functions of greatsword are hold X until it flashes the third time and release to do a big hit. The bare minimum to use HBG is aim and shoot, dunno why it isn't the easiest.
      For CB, the bare minimum is understanding how yellow charges three phials and red charged five, hold A to charge quickly, don't hold any direction during A or you'll slide (an unpleasant change in World unfortunately kept in Rise), RA to store phials, XA XA R to transfer phials to your shield, R to morph to axe, charged shield axe A button attacks or XA shield bash to deal high damage and elemental/KO buildup, morph to axe to guard point which can chain into (U)AED, XA XA in sword mode or XA in shield mode to UAED, hold back and press X to cancel UAED into regular AED, hold RA while storing phials and release it at the right time to charge the sword. Once you know all these basics, CB is actually one of the easiest weapons to play competently AND masterfully, but it definitely has one of the highest if not the highest barrier of entry.
      Personally, I think competence is more important than the barrier of entry. Barrier of entry is basically irrelevant, and the fact that he brings up the LoL comparison at the beginning confuses matters more because the barrier of entry for every single LoL champion is extremely low, but he's talking about the competency threshold, and then says it only takes a few minutes to learn any MH weapon, when that is only true for the barrier of entry and not the competency threshold.

They have so much more survivability baked into the kit and loadouts these days and so much offensive power that you can brute force a lot of monsters down if you have a basic understanding of the weapons and a decent loadout. For a new player, bow in particular is so mobile and you will still do good enough damage compared to i.e. a hammer or lance even if you don't play bow optimally. It will just take a long time, but at least you have a bit more time to react to monsters, and tons of evasiveness to deal with their attacks. I'd put it alongside something like the SnS, where the SnS is safe to use for a new player, and not too hard to understand the basics, but you aren't doing good enough damage if you don't abuse immunity frames to push your up time damaging the monster, perfectly time the perfect rush and choose the right opportunities to do so, and perfectly time counter attacks. If you don't pick an SnS loaded with good stats and sharpness, you also probably aren't going to be feeling so great about your hunt times, so in essence both weapons are pretty accessible, but with higher skill ceilings.

Being a GL main since the start of Rise, it’s not exactly difficult to pick up the combos, nor the place GL players should be in: close to the monster and tanking/drawing aggro with the endemic life (blanking on the name) while some of your more agile friends dish out a ton of damage. The Wyvern Fire grants you shield usage, and you can tank pretty much any attack, including my old nemesis the Magnamalo tail shot (or whatever the actual move is called). Idk it just felt easy after being a dual blade and bow user back in GU. Really confused about lance and GL. GL in Rise and especially Sunbreak seems like it's never been in a better spot, but lance seems like the one whose playstyle is complicated by limited damage potential. GL seems kinda pigeonholed by mechanics but not overly so, in the same kind of way that some weapons have historically been unable to leverage elemental builds. Just because GL basically revolves around full burst/slaplance/wyvern fire spam in the current iteration doesn't make it bad, honestly I've been really impressed with its damage output since picking it up over lance at the start of Sunbreak.

    One parameter I would also consider is single vs multiplayer use.
    Case in point, the bow is a very strong weapon but, in single player, and etc. against large wyverns, it can be very difficult to constantly maintain proper distance and get good shots. This partially negates it's strength. In multiplayer, where you have fellow payers keeping the monster distracted, same weapon can be devastating.
    I believe this is true for other weapons, as well. I use bow in multiplayer and gunlance in single player, for the above reason.

      The hardest part about the bowguns is understanding what ammo types are good, how important recoil and reload are, etc. When I was a new player, I looked at the mess of info tied to the guns and said "screw that, I'm gonna just bonk shit." It's easy to understand most melee weapons. Go for big damage and affinity, stack attack and crit buffs, and you're able to make it work. Meanwhile if you just go for that on most bowguns you're gonna have a terrible time.
      Now that I understand what I'm looking for on a bowgun, it's hard for me to use anything else if I'm going for quick clears.

  • @Ocean5ix
    @Ocean5ix 2 ปีที่แล้ว +45

    Great video. That said I dont agree with some of the picks because the difficulty of weapons is a bit more nuanced IMO.
    The simplicity in MH is very deceptive. For example, SnS is easy to play but if you dont play it optimally chances are you'll end up frustrated with its damage compared to other weapons and playing SnS optimally is at least medium difficulty in my opinion.
    Other example is the GS which is also kinda simple but one of the most technical weapons in the game. It hits like a truck but you will get frustrated if you play the weapon without a good level of knowledge of the monster you're fighting against. You'll get knocked out of charges constantly.
    On the other hand weapons like Charge Blade or Switch Axe are complex mechanically speaking but each style (depending on skills) have a very specific gameplan that once you understand it becomes very simple. Like, with SA most of the time you'll execute the same attack rotation and once you charge the weapon it's all about doing the amped charge mounted on the monster and finish the combo with the aerial move.
    With CB if you're playing SAED spam you're going to charge everything and SAED the monster, using the counter skill. If you're playing spinning Slash the weapon becomes a lot more simple.
    So yea, I'd say it's not as simple as "easy to understand = easy to execute" and "hard to understand = hard to execute".
    I think it's way easier to deal damage with Gunlance, SA or CB than it is with SnS or the GS.
    TLDR: Even for newcomers I think learning a complex weapon like the CB or SA pays off quicker than just pressing buttons with the simple weapons that require a higher skill ceiling to catch up with the other weapons. I would even say SnS and GS are beginner traps because they dont look as flashy as other weapons and they seem too simple at first. Especially SnS which is a weapon that people tend to gravitate towards after learning other weapons and understanding what makes SnS actually fun and good.

      I think SNS is a noob bait. Its range is abysmal, played incorrectly its damage is also abysmal and it has a lot of combos you have to learn. It also has a shield that isn't used for blocking at all. Except for an emergency o hit block maybe, as taking a huge amount of damage is better than dying. Let's break those 3 main things up:
      Abysmal range means that you have to be close to the monster, which also means you need a good knowledge of the moveset of the monster, which is a thing a new player obviously doesn't has. The short range also means that you have to use your environment and the ability to use items without sheeting the weapon efficiently to hit weakspots like heads or tails. Thats also somethign newer players will struggle with + the materials/money to do this each hunt is a concern. Yes you can play SNS without all that, but then it's not really optimal.
      Many combos can be overwhelming. Not all of them are good for example, some are great, but only in the right condition etc. Again without ample knowledge about the monsters behavior you probably will struggle with this.
      And a shield thats for offensive use is just awkward in the beginning. Something you (probably) will get used to pretty quickly, but still something a new player might struggle with.
      Don't get me wrong I love SNS, but I personally think that it's not an easy weapon for beginners. LS or SA are much easier entries imho. Yes they have a steep learning curve, especially the blocks and counters from LS, but you can at least play (and kill) the monster without countering it even once. And while SA has some awesome combos you deal a shit ton of damage just with the Switch attack und Rapid Morph 3. And both have much more range, ect.

      @@Hc2p3n4t4rp I kinda address that on the TLDR. I think leading people towards weapons like SnS and GS is a bit of a trap. GS might be part of the reason newcomers complain MH is too clunky and punishing while SnS can incentivize a beginner to just press buttons randomly because the weapon seems to be simple. I think they might end up frustrated with the damage output from non optimized combos and hit zones.

    A few changes I'd make:
    - Increase GS by 1 because long animation commitments increase the need to know the monster's move-set. This makes it hard to pick up relative to others when starting off.
    - Increase DB by 1, because having four attack modes (normal, feral, demon, arch) plus stamina management and aerial commits make it a bit more than the other 'easy' ones for just picking up the weapon.
    - Increase both bowguns by 1. As a "pick-up" difficulty ranking you should consider that they require non-default crafting in your wheel, an ammo loadout with crafting materials specific to the gun you're bringing, mod considerations, gun-specific weapon attributes to consider (deviation, movement on reload/shooting 'rapid' ammo), plus ammo ordering in the scroll wheel.
    No other weapons demand this level of upfront thought and preparation to make it viable to use in hunts, even if attacks are point-and-click. And this is to say nothing of ammo knowledge, what works on what monsters, difficulty in gearing relative to other weapons, etc. It's a very technical weapon beyond just the attack combos to use.
    - Reduce GL by 1 to balance between the three shell types. Wide poke-shell is really easy, normal shelling may (arguably) be "hard" here and long shelling is in between because it's more forgiving than Normal due to blast radius. For pick-up games, it has a generous guard point plus a good regular guard, so it's easier to work with than "hard" I would say.
    - Reduce Switchaxe by 1. All you need is a couple switch combos and the silkbind move to reload your gauge, and you're good to go for a pick-up game.

    Honestly in rise I don't even notice the low damage output from the Gunlance because of how much you can stick to the monster with mobility skills. Blast dash, reverse dash, and ground splitter are awesome for maintaining distance in dangerous situations and getting right back into the fight as soon as possible, so you're constantly dealing damage. Pair that with affinity skills and weakness exploit, maybe some sharpness management skills and mobility skills like a point of evade extender, and you're golden.

    I disagree with the bow. Bow is not hard. I'd rank it at medium. It is not exactly the most complex weapon to learn. Aside from having to manage your stamina, it has very few things you need to keep track off, allowing you to focus entirely on the positioning and gameplay. It is fast, has no complex combos, coatings are quite simple (there are only a few, and they are mostly just apply-and-forget) and for those reasons it isn't hard to pick up. The bow was one of my first weapons as a kid in MHFU, and it never gave me any trouble. It is no harder to learn than the h. bowgun, and especially not harder than the greatsword which takes a lot more careful positioning and is much more punishing if you mess something up. Finally, it doesn't deserve to be in the same category as the switch axe and gunlance, both of which are mechanically highly complex weapons with a lot of things going on at the same time, which is what makes those weapons highly challenging for new players (who need to keep track of all the variables and combos of their weapon at the same time as they are learning about monsters, positioning, dodging and other basic gameplay elements). The bow quite simply doesn't have as many variables to track.
    I also disagree with the hunting horn. Despite the rework, it is still a good deal more complex than weapons like the longsword and dual blades. Those weapons can basically be picked up right away since their basic movesets are simple and very forgiving. The basic moveset of the hunting horn is signficantly more complex and takes more time to understand. I'd put the hunting horn at medium or even hard.

    • @flame24dragon
      @flame24dragon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Idk, it's kind of close to SA imo because you still need to know the monsters movesets to know how many power shots you can get off (1, 2, or 0) before having to be able to dodge again. Plus, stamina management is pretty complicated when you realize that you can stall every attack slightly to increase your stamina if need be without dropping charge. Using your stamina to dps while making sure you have the stamina to dodge as well is something you always have to be aware of since you cant commit to a full dps combo and run out and get 1 shot because youre out of stamina. You also ideally keep track of your distance from the monster depending on which coating you are using. You'd be surprised how many bow players i see go full melee with power coatings on and the icon no longer shows you in critical distance.
      It's a pretty complex weapon to learn (even tho rise gutted most of its complexity), but I agree that it's pretty easy to pick up and just start doing some damage with it, but so is almost every other weapon. Bow is easily one of the weapons where you can see someone and pretty easily tell they dont fully know what theyre doing at times.
      Oh, I almost forgot about this, but people always forget about the fact that bow has to aim everything at weak points that are normally heads, which range from being reticule size to double the reticule size. Like yeah you can hit the other parts, but MH knows people would do that so theres terrible hitzones everywhere else that makes you hit for about 25% of what you would hit for.
      I get that it seems easy, but as someone who has played most of the technical weapons on this list, bow is definitely up there if you give a shit about how effective youre being with youre dps. World bow is still one of the most complex weapons systems we have seen in monster hunter with all the different combos based on stam needs
      Edit: I forgot to mention with the critical distance thing that managing coatings can also be complex when youre dashing back and forth on a downed monster and you need to switch between close and power with each dash to make sure you dont lose dps from being too close

  • @MrMiebMieb
    @MrMiebMieb 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I would say switch axe is easier and hammer harder the rest i agree mostly.
    With hammer you need to use waterstrike to counter which you cant use while charging and talking about dodgecanceling sounds like you can get out of the attack animation, while you really can only cancel the animation where you pick the weapon back up + it is more dangerous to have to stay in front of the monster.
    With switch axe you have wirestep which is much more forgiving and less commitment for the attacks while supposed to stay behind the monster. So easier to dodge attacks.
    Yeah some optimal combos of the SA need you to switch stances, but thats the same for hammer. You put SA in hard with the skillsealing in mind but SNS in easy because of the skillfloor. You should judge all weapons by the skillfloor. SA skillfloor would be someone running around just useing axemode.

      Nah I disagree. The skill floor is about using the weapon and still engaging with their main mechanics. Axe only SA is like saying Long Sword skill floor is low if you never use any Spirit Slashes lol.
      With SA you at the very least need to maintain Sword Guage and maximize Amplified State. Then there's the Elemental Discharge Counter which is arguably one of the harder counters to use. Similar to LS you need to enter a stance to use it, meaning you can't just twitch reflex at the last minute. However unlike LS if you screw up the timing you are heavily penalized in both using up 2 Wirebugs and every second in stance drains a ton of sword gauge.

      Lets compare it to dual blades.

    My list would look like this, in the exact order:
    Very Hard: Charge Blade, Heavy Bowgun, Light Bowgun
    Hard: Greatsword, Gunlance, Bow
    Medium: Insect Glaive, Longsword, Switch Axe
    Easy: Hammer, Sword and Shield, Hunting Horn, Lance, Dual Blades
    Bowguns aren't hard to play, but the ammo system has severe difficulty in terms of gathering and crafting. If you're new, you probably won't understand half of what the weapon page says without a guide.
    Greatsword doesnt belong in medium - it may be simple, but you must have a lot of patience and understanding of monsters to play it proficiently. Charging and wiffing your every attack is frustrating for new players. That's why weapons with faster combos and less commitment are way easier to get into. That's also why Glaive and Axe are lower - they have some management, but are generally easy to pick up.
    Nice video overall, but I do have a lot of gripes with this part of the video: 14:30 - 15:08 . I understand you have had experience with CB and hence say it feels easier than Switch Axe, however I don't think you should put that statement in your script. If your target audience is new players (or people looking to pick up something new) and explicitly state that this is a ranking for how easy it is to pick up a weapon, I don't believe the argument that "it becomes second nature with practice" should be used - it goes for every weapon, but for CB it just takes more time.

The key to lance is proper positioning and aggressive onslaught mixed with counter attacks to keep the dps almost constant. The mobility issues makes you have to figure out more efficient movements options. Shield charge, spiral thrust and to an extent twin vine are great ways to keep you right on the monster. I personally run double palicos because I traverse the maps vertically and across everything instead of directly following the main paths or even using the bases for fast travel and the great wire bugs as well. The extra support double cats provide with traps and buffs over the palamute mobility is just more worth it in a fight.

    I don't really agree with SnS being a low entry bar at this point, it literally has all the weaknesses that people dislike the most from a melee weapon: it has a short range, it has low motion values on basic button press, its hard-hitting attacks are locked behind sophisticated combos, its direction input affects your movement drastically (backsteps, spinning slash directions), it has moves that you'll either need to avoid using or use with caution (including shields).
    Most new players might find SnS easy to use before they know what button to press in the game, but they'll really have a terrible experience playing it through low-rank hunts.

    • @Zero0mtk
      @Zero0mtk 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Imo Rise SnS actually fixes those problems, because of how relatively powerful Shield Bash combo has become. The common intuitive input of "press the direction of monster and press attack repeatedly" actually produces good result (decent raw damage than before) AND very little draw back (natural Mind's Eye, so no weapon bouncing, also no sharpness consumption). Once they get the hang of it, then they could be introduced to adding spinning reaper at the end of the combo for damage.
      I agree with all the problems you mention (a CB main friend of mine said to me "your SnS combo stuff is absolutely ridiculous" lol), but I don't think they would be relevant to a beginner's LR hunts. It's ironic that in the game that the director specifically said "SnS is no longer a beginner's weapon," I actually think it's the most beginner-friendly it has ever been.

    Personally, I would rank Insect Glaive as a “medium” difficulty, not hard. I’m an Insect Glaive main, but I’m not a veteran hunter who’s used it forever. Rise is the first Monster Hunter I got really into, after only putting like 10 hours into MHGU. Insect Glaive does have a lot of complexity, but the insanely high mobility more than makes up for that. You can do super simple combos, like on the ground just mash X and if you get up into the air just mash A and you’ll do a good amount of damage while being able to maneuver easily to stay out of the way of attacks. Of course that’s not the optimal way to play and you can get much more in depth, I’m just saying you can pick it up fairly easily. On top of that, Kinsects are way less complicated in Rise than they were before. You used to have to feed Kinsects different nectars to level them up and choose how your kinsect will grow, but in Rise you can just buy the ones you want and they scale up with the weapon. For beginners, using a dual color kinsect makes it way easier to keep full extracts, and honestly even if you don’t get full extracts the weapon is still decent. So with all of that said, I think the incredible mobility is more than enough to bring IG down to Medium difficulty.
    Also Light Bowgun is the simplest weapon ever to pick up if you’ve ever played a shooting game. It’s literally just a machine gun. You can use different ammo to deal more damage or inflict status ailments, but that’s not necessary. I recently decided to try light Bowgun, I had never played with Light Bowgun before, picked it up and only used normal ammo, and I completed the hunt in record time, compared to times I had taken using my main weapon. Light Bowgun is basically “Hey, do you want to turn Monster Hunter into a 3rd person shooter? Great, here you go!”

    Correct me if I’m wrong but I do think the SnS backstep has more i-frames than a normal roll.
    Great video though :) Mostly agree with the rankings and the arguments are good to.

      You're correct, I mispoke here. I think you can even see me i-framing an attack from the training dummy with the backstep in the footage. My bad.

    I started with playing chargeblade in mh4 because i felt braindead after spamming longsword & clusting alatreon in mh tri till we all had hr999...
    To All newcomers:
    Play whatever you feel like
    Its about having fun and when you have fun you'll learn faster like always in life so don't fear to at least try out every weapon for a few quest 😉

    Gunlance can be an odd one to step into, and seeing how slow it seems at first when wielding it can turn away allot of people. But once you get the hang of Bullet barrage, and Ground splitter, (Which has some hyper armor) You can stay on the monster pretty easily. Probably the hardest part of the weapon, is figuring out how to socket your armor for it. XD

    Gunner weapons are by far the easiest to pick up and use, they have the safest attacks and easiest sustained dps

      hm I am not quite sure about that, since this video is made for monster hunter newbies and new people usually struggle with ranged weapons for multiple reasons. i often had new players in my hunts (especially in world) that didnt so any dmg with those weapons due to not understanding how different ammo works

      @@lpsmitcaptainuniverse4985 Yeah, I agree. I’d say they are the easiest after watching a single short build guide

    Good list! I think CB isn't as hard for me because I played a ton of it in 4U. That being said, it's quite different in Rise so I'm having fun just learning about the weapon again. And while Longsword might have all of those s it still takes a lil bit of skill to get the timing right, you do get punished if you miss your window, so I think it balances out.

      You get a slap on the wrist if you mess up LS timing. You lose a bit of hp thats it. Meanwhile in case of other weapon like swax if you mess up a counter you lose wirebug + lose hp.
