A tip for Metsu Shoryugeki: Get a palico with the move "Summeown Endemic Life". Your cat will regularly bring you a third wirebug, making using the skill a lot easier and less punishing.

yeah, i am getting rid of healing bubble on one of mine and having both do it... i spam it every time im under the monster head whether i counter or not, the KO potential is tooo darn good. though the damage is nice when you do actually time it right.

Thanks for the tips, now Summeown Endemic Life and Wirebug Whisperer are my must-have skills for SnS.

It's worth mentioning that from most SnS attacks that launch you up into the air you can use your Falling Shadow. It's not exactly useful for damage, but its pretty useful if you're up in the air and the monster is about to do something that'd swat you outta the sky and you need to get out of the way.

    • @CraigPrime
      @CraigPrime 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

Great Tutorial! Just one note as an SnS main:
You can back hop after any move in a combo, including Spinning Reaper, so something i have found really nice it to loop Perfect Rush by ending it with the spinning reaper and then back hopping and starting Perfect Rush. In addition if the opening isn’t large you can do the shield bash/drill slash combo, end with spinning reaper, and then back hop into advancing slash/sliding slash, and then repeat. Not sure it this is the absolute most damaging combo but it’s been what I’m using (the inputs are Forward + A, A, A, X+A, Back + A but don’t hold back or A, and then repeat). I find this combo works best with Sliding slash and Drill Slash, however it works well will any configuration of skills

A few things I'd like to add: Falling Shadow has some few extra properties that were not mentioned: you can use the move midair to cancel other moves you were currently doing, for example you can use Falling Shadow, do the jumping slashes and use another Falling Shadow instead of committing to the falling bash/slash, which can be useful if you notice the monster's starting to attack you or if it's moving to reposition. You can also cancel the jump you do during the perfect rush with the Falling Shadow.

Thanks a lot for this guide!
It has definitely allowed me to learn the rhythm of SnS from a comprehensive perspective and/or approach; when I got back in game to try out the things mentioned in here, it was as if I'd "leveled up"!
I now really enjoy and appreciate SnS as a weapon - much to my own surprise, as well: I'd expected it to be boring before I got the hang of it.
All in all, thanks for opening my eyes up for this weapon, and thanks for your video!

Protip: While S&S is a weapon that has no skills unique to it, it does benefit greatly from Wirebug Whisperer 3. The reduced cooldown on it's silkbinds is a welcome improvement, as Metsu Shoryugeki's damage output helps (Metsu is considered more useful than Windmill due to being able to target a monster's individual parts or head more easily, making tripping or KOing more consistent).

One thing I've noticed is that the sns also has an...okayish ranged damage option, though technically everyone has it. Since we have unlimited kunai it means you can spam them in moments where it's not safe to approach. Throw in the dango skill that increases kunai damage and you're replacing what would be 0 dps downtime into a small trickle of damage.
It also means you can bide your time a bit easier when fighting annoying monsters that keep bouncing attacks.

This can be useful if you want to time falling shadow into the end of a monster's charge where it will still have a lingering hitbox.

SnS feels absolutely fantastic in Rise. Solid mobility, the shield bashes are faster AND deal more damage, flexible combo game, vertical movement, a shoryuken, and more
One of my favorites in this game, hands down

The video is not even started that i'm super exited. Been waiting for this one. I hated SNS in world and for some reason it clicked in Rise. Thanks for this guide

Everytime Arekkz makes a new weapons guide video... I change my main weapon. I was a hunting horn main. Hello SnS~

I'm kind of a new player to MH, started with World and mained longsword, it was a bit overwhelming to try to learn other weapons while also learning everything else in the game. Now with Rise these guides are definitely hyping me up to try new stuff, already want to try HH and SnS. That's 2/2!

Literally just today I decided to try SnS for the first time ever! I LOVE IT. I GET THE HYPE NOW. It's now gonna be one of my mains!

This is excellent! My girlfriend started playing and she gravitated towards the sword and shield which has been my main weapon in Rise too! I learned alot and I'm sure she will too!

I use a mixed set, I got a Barroth piece, a Jyura piece, and Nargacuga pieces. It’s a mix of evasion and guard skills, with a Constitution skill piece to top it off.

Thanks for all the content and I totally understand burnout. Hope to see more shorter videos when Sunbreak launches if you feel like it. No pressure but I'd love just seeing the combos a weapon might use during a typical hunt. When learning a weapon it's hard to find a concise demo of how to pick it up. Half this video is the "Weapon Moves" section so maybe it's the hardest part.

Great video! You sir are a master artist with the SnS, while I’m doing little doodles on a napkin. I make SnS look boring. This video makes me want to stick with it and get better

Shield bash also drains Monster stamina using blunt damage. So if you open up with the shield combo you can slow down the monster for bigger attacks like the Rush combo.

    I gotta try it sometimes.
    Thanks for the video!

As a SNS user since MH1 on PS2, I'm IN LOVE with the Down Thrust from Wirebug and the Thrust and Twist. Both combined make for non-stop offensive onslaughts that are just incredibly fun and make heavier weapons seem super duper clunky now.
