Being a lancer from the MHF1, using lance in a nutshell is like this: Get in (quest) Poke poke poke (monsters) Get out (quest completed) Get paid and... repeat...
Nah Brach’s not that bad, it’s the ones that love to fly around and spit shit at you that’re really annoying because the counter claw doesn’t work against ranged attacks and lance struggles to get in on flyers. The fucking Kushala fight gave me PTSD from playing solo lance without wind resistance
MH:World had the bust hunting horn method, have a simple layout of the songs the horn can play, and then have them on display so you dont have to keep pausing Plus the "Encore" note to double up the effects or enhance them, really made it my favourite weapon to use in World
@@a_guy_in_orange7230 Rise or World are good for newcomers, but starting with an older game can help you to appreciate the changes the series is getting.

as an actual CB user for the 2 only MH game I played (MH4U and MHW) Not relateable as I just went in pressed random button and in less than 2 weeks/1 month I got the full controls , without any guides
Gotta say, after almost 700 hours of playing complicated weapons like the Switch Axe, the Charge Blade or the Greatsword playing something so simple as the Lance is kinda refreshing
@@reckyourself6948 well, it's not the weapon that is complicated but the playstyle you have to adopt to use, unlike many other weapons you have to rely way more on the Monster openings
What I like about lance is it's an incredibly precise and fluid weapon to use. It has simple attack chains but the skill lies in using your defensive tools to stick to a monster like glue. I think people get too caught up with things that are complex on paper like charge blade when the gameplay loop isn't altogether much more complicated than a lance. Very underrated IMO by people who started playing in newer gens. It's not as OP as it was back then but it's really fun and rewarding to just completely shit on monsters by not having to evade most attacks and just block through it without losing any momentum. Maybe not a speedrunner sort of weapon but its damage isnt too far off from other weapons because of your uptime potential and id wager if people who liked to play aggressive learned how to lance well they'd find their damage output being very similar to other weapons while being able to facilitate their playstyle way more
it can do good damage in rise, but mobile enemys are a hell. The lance run distance is quite short in rise and you probably have a harder time refilling hp on your own, especially against constant pressure. the risk isnt worth the reward unless its an enemy that you can time well and isnt as mobile.
I started with MHW, picked the lance as my weapon and never looked back. The damage numbers are not sky high, but the consistent damage does work. Sticking to the monster all day long, poke poke poke, countering their attack and just keep on poking. Blocking and countering a charging monster to send it reeling on the ground feels so good, also riding monstgers all day. After 300 hours I can't imagine playing anything else.
The only reason I'm a lance main is that I just can't dodge anything in these games. Even after hundreds of hours in World and Rise I still default to lance after trying all the other weapons because it's the only one that can get hit all the time and still win.
My main too for the last 3 games (since I started) The combos are easy , flexible & varied working on a new wire bug spam charge blade set & I most say looking good in testing
Is it really that complicated? I picked it up one day as a secondary and figured everything out through bashing the monsters. I didn't even know there were things like PDF files for it.

As a Gunlance main, I take pride that I always get three likes at the end of every quest in Rise. Nothing says adoration from your teammates like stepping in with a big KABOOM while folks try and combo when the monster is down!! 😂😂
Gunlance main here, I love how the explosions go through armor thus allowing for even more unga bunga then hammer + it's got some stylish high damage nonsense (wyvern stake + silk bindings in rise) that are just fun and cool.
As someone who uses Charge Blade I can gladly say I mash buttons and then try to use the cool big damage move that puts the sparky boom boom effect on the monster.
What Gunlance says about you, from an actual Gunlance player. You love explosions and not having to care about your positioning but are too much of a hipster to use the Charge Blade. So you settle for this hand-mounted heavy artillery cannon that eats sharpness as fast as Deviljho eats it's own tail. You also nutted when you saw that Gunlance gets a counter in Rise that replenishes sharpness.
@@pongsazaaa Thank you for clearing that up. I started at Rise, so if I ever backtrack to World, I'm either going to have to be careful about when I use it, or pack Earplugs. Then again, I have been experimenting with other weapon types.

How is GS complicated?
@@reckyourself6948 well, it's not the weapon that is complicated but the playstyle you have to adopt to use, unlike many other weapons you have to rely way more on the Monster openings
Heresy
As a fellow charge blade user, this makes me feel more ascended of our somewhat overcomplicated brains
