Definitely would say the Marauder 800 is a great motorcycle to buy when you're on a budget. Bought mine last year as my first bike and its been reliable the entire time, seat is comfortable to longer rides and overall completely happy with purchasing one. Loved the video!😁
Thanks for that. I think these bikes are not given the love they deserve. Really underrated bikes in the Uk. They are so much better than people think they are.
i never drive bike, but i want to buy one this suzuki for years looks very great for me, but do you think its problematic for first bike? i am 23 yo, 6 feet tall
this bike model has two different carbs on one engine. front is a down draft , rear is a side draft. the sycro cable setup is easily messed up and it took me a few leaning curves to master. in my video , the bike is being started with new fuel in an auciliary tank hanging on right side. carbs were dry from last run before storing. i ran them dry .then drained bowls. after 5 minutes it was back to its old self. runs just perfect. rich/ lean happy zone is tricky on these multi carb setups especialy when they jet differently to achieve same air fuel mix through range. i didn't do a vid on me getting it tight as i was focused on the task and not recording. but , it is a good set up once it is tuned and synced for intake and exhaust. this one will wind up and never miss a cylinder. i do have it biased to rich mix. don'tneed to burn it up. it is almost antique now!
10:1 compression, 2spark plugs plus 4 valves per jug. You a set a Vance and Hines, port the carb correctly and this bike can be a screamer. The gears are long but would be better if it were a 6 speed. I'm 6'1 340lbs my marauder would get up to 90mph cruising speed,
90 MPH is not cruising speed on a bike like this. It's certainly possible to go so fast, but the wind resistance will be a bitch and remove most of the enjoyment of getting out and about.
That’s very true. They have a used Harley and a Speedmaster in the same garage. Both good options. I’ve been out on their used Harley. They have a 1200 Sportster. Sounds amazing.
I've had my 2000 for years but thankfully in blue :) . Those pops sound off, maybe new plugs or carb cleaning? Sounds off and not as zippy through gears (though in the rain you're not going to push as hard obviously). It's not a beast, but not a slouch either, and a great choice imo to get a nice bike on a budget to get into your mid size cruisers.
The suzuki 800vs is not a slow engine. If it's popping and sputtering,... then it's in major need of a carb clean and tune up. Hope you let the bike shop know that they need to pull finger and sort their shit out !
Yes it was disappointing. It was fixed straight after. I think it had been stood for a long time prior to it arriving in the shop. Hopefully I will get a go on another one at some point so I can see how they should perform.
Very nice video man. Im considering this as my first bike. 6'4 and 240lbs and when I sat on it yesterday, it was perfect for my size. Now I didnt do test drive unfortunately and I really want to know more about handling on this bike. Is it any good for city? Note - I live in small and not really busy city. Cheers man
No, I think this one went not long after the review went live. I was last in there a few days ago and they didn’t have anything similar in there either. Sorry.
I know you wouldn't care but I did buy the motorcycle. It being a 1998 marauder, it's amazing. So smooth and basically everything in the video seems pretty spot on
nice video. good perspective. y/t will never send my vids your way but if you tap my thumbnail in comments , go to my channel and see my 1997 Marauder 800. this bike is outstanding and underrated. has been detuned and has much potential from suzuki. i up tuned mine , added some tayloring for me long legs and arms. made a sest and made a belt drive." scoot works" is garbage. i used what i could find. wasn't expensive either. it's down now for fork seals and tires and rust in taaank. bad fuel. still runs like a bull.not slow any more . it hangs with my buddies 103 dyna.only carb and exhaust work and final drive. not slow at all. wheel up in 2nd gear. hopefuly soon , i'll get her all rehabed . atleast no more chain maintenance!lol😆 go see it. also have a Kawasaki 1995 vn 800 and 2002 hd duece w twin camm 88, 1974 bmw R90S. the marauder is only one i bought new.i grew up on a farm with a stable full of horses. i hated that crap! now i have a stable full of bikes!!!😁😂🤣
@@GillyBikes it's not spectacular. im not a video person. im a mechanic. just short vids showing two of my bikes. ill do more when i advance in video skills and equipment. these are done with my phone.
Yes I believe so. I’d never ridden one prior to this so wasn’t sure. One of the mechanics took it out after me. They fixed it and it sold straight away so I never had chance to ride it again.
Good points on the seating position, important for us in the 60s

@perun4649 no. They are good bikes. Would make a great first bike.
@@GillyBikes thanks for answer
your chanel is great
@perun4649 I appreciate that. Tell your friends. I need more subs. 🤣👍
i was searching for new cheap bike and this video came so perfectly
Did you buy it?

I just bought one and I can't get it to go over 65 I'm thinking it's a carburetor but I don't know this is my first bike
It could be either that or restricted?
remember watching this video before i bought my first cruiser, marauder 800. Its a nice beginnerbike, thanks for the video :)
You are very welcome. Really nice comfortable bike.

This one was a bit rough and lacking power. It went through the workshop and working fine now.
90 MPH is not cruising speed on a bike like this. It's certainly possible to go so fast, but the wind resistance will be a bitch and remove most of the enjoyment of getting out and about.
You can get a used Triumph Speedmaster 800 for £5000, sometimes less, these days. In fact, you can get a used Harley Sportster for under £5000, too.
That’s very true. They have a used Harley and a Speedmaster in the same garage. Both good options. I’ve been out on their used Harley. They have a 1200 Sportster. Sounds amazing.
You can also get a fully working Marauder for £1000. Saying this because it's what I paid last year for a -99 with 24 000 km on the odometer.
That’s a bargain 👍

Great choice. Definitely better in the blue 👍
I totally feel you on the height thing.
I tell people that I have
" Ducks disease "
My ass is to close to the ground !
😂 I might use that one 😂
I think ill consider it as my first one thank you very much
Would make a nice first bike. 👍
I like the yellow. It looks nice
It looks nice because you like yellow. It’s growing on me.
I have one almost exactly like this, 1999! I call it the yellow submarine.
Perfect name for it. 😎

Yes its a great comfortable bike. Long journeys and short journeys you would have no issues with one of these 👍
Do you know if there's yellow one is still for sale and if so how much thank you very much for the review extremely helpful

Nice bike
It's always raining in that god damn country
😂😂😂 it really is.
@@GillyBikes Hahaha, great video by the way.
Thanks I appreciate that.
Looks nice but sounds like a bag of spanners
Yes. Not a great sound but unbelievably comfortable!
That sounds shit, missing, spluttering but looks the part. I bought a new Yamaha XVS 950 in 2012, good bike, went well.
It’s certainly no Harley when it comes to sound.
me buying a motorcycle today and learning newer ones have ABS???
I know you wouldn't care but I did buy the motorcycle. It being a 1998 marauder, it's amazing. So smooth and basically everything in the video seems pretty spot on
@Seven4SevenRep I definitely do care. That’s awesome. Congrats on the new bike. Ride safe 👍
@@GillyBikes will do man thanks for the informative video it def helped me decide
@Seven4SevenRep no probs. Glad I helped 👍
Would this cruiser be happy at 70 mph with a bit spare
Yes it will easily do that. It would be a good bike to smash some miles on. Very comfortable so would be brilliant for a long trip.
Does anyone know if it’s a good size for someone who is 6’0”, around 185lbs?
This sort of bike is good for all heights. Low seat but forward pegs so you can stretch your legs.
I'm 6' 220lbs and I have no issues, I also drive 2 up with no issues.

I film a lot on my iPhone. Its all about the editing. That is what takes a while to figure out. I’m still learning.
that bike is running poorly, for a cruiser they are actually quite fast, this one however has a running issue.

Make it run right before you make a review.
I had no idea how it ran before the review. However after my review and feedback back to the dealer it now runs great. 👍
