When I go to buy these in the store I always feel like the clerks think I'm super poor and just need a cheap drink when in actuality I just enjoy them. Cheers
Same here, lol, They sell a lot of micro brews at the store i always go to and I always only breeze right past it and go for the Steel and I always feel like the clerk is feeling sorry for me, lol, when like you said, I actually prefer Steel over any other high shelf beer/liquor or wine in the world.
this beer can kick your butt! lol I remember when me and my cousin both got a 40oz of this stuff while in college and we both straight downed it and then went walking around downtown Tempe in AZ and I felt like I had just drank a twelve pack lol
@ROBSKIES211 I understand. I usually drink from that mug with malt liquors. Otherwise, I use my tall beer glass, Schlitz glass, or a schooner (chalice).
Bought six 40 ounce Steel Reserve 6.0% for $1.69 each. I must say that for this price, this brand is exceptional. The drink is extremely smooth. The mouth feel is full and balanced. The taste blends the sweet and bitter very well. This malt liquor is good. Some times good things don't have to cost an arm and a leg. Thank you Miller for this valuable brand. Also thank you for doing the Louisiana Beer Reviews. I 'm going to have to visit Louisiana soon.
To a large extent, you're right, Nathan Briggs, but I did not like Jaguar Malt Liquor, Boxer Lager, Earthquake High Gravity, Dog Bite HG and quite a few other bottom dwellers. Those type of things are just not worth buying. Thanks for watching!
@Yuck46 I've always had mixed feelings about Steel Reserve, but I do go back to it from time to time, so there must be something about it that attracts me.
@Yuck46 Don't feel bad not agreeing with me. We all have different tastes in beer and food. As far as Steel Reserve goes, I remember when it first came out in 1998, and the 8% was sold here. I thought it was so harsh. I didn't like it. Later, when the 6% replaced it in Louisiana, I was much happier with it. Still in all, it's not a beer I typically drink.
I find the triple export easier to drink. The regular steel reserve is heavier and richer with the same 8.1% alcohol content. There's less of a fear of getting sick drinking triple export.
Excellent review Jay!!! The one I bought today is the 8.1%. I wish I had a camera to show you the lacing, tiers, and legs that it left on my tulip glass!!!!!!!! I was amazed. You wouldn't believe the temperature here right now. At 7:00 my truck said it was -11, but the thermometer inside said -4. My house is creaking and popping!!!!! I think I like the Natural Father better than this one, but I wouldn't turn it down either. The Natural Father is only $.89 for 25 oz., where this was $1.89 for 24 oz. So I can buy to Natty's for the price of this and get two extra ounces to boot.
We have been spoiled the last ten years or more. When I was a kid, it would snow like mad, and there were streaks of -30 to -40 weather that lasted for weeks. I was remarking to the Pastor here at the Baptist church back in November that I thought we were going to have a harsh winter. Well, it just started, and it is proving to be so thus far. I am dreading February at this rate!!!!! I was born in February too, and have always hated that fact.
@dbraz45 I can't even comment on the 8.1%, since it's been over 10 years since I've had it. But, the 6% is pretty smooth and easy to enjoy. I don't really get into the H.G.s to tell the truth. As for Hurricane, I'd probably go with the regular (6%) one.
That's true, but a crackhead might not necessarily do a very good job reviewing a beer. Plus, I think it makes sense to cover all the beers on the market. Thanks for watching, sergeant kabukiman.
I've tried them and even done video reviews of them, in fact. There are two types of it- a 6% (black label) and an 8.1% (silver label) version. You have to look carefully to tell the difference.
@CaptainRetardify Thanks for watching and subscribing, Cap! I'm glad you liked the review. When Steel Reserve first came out, the 8.1% was sold here, but later the 6% came in. It's not a law or anything, so I guess Miller or Crescent Crown, the distributor, felt that that version was better for Louisiana.
Well, I would like to revisit all the major brands at some point. But, the Steel Reserve 8% is not sold in Louisiana. I'll have to pick it up next time I'm in Texas.
I would have never tried steel reserve 6 % without your reviews. Stuff is delicious, smooth, and very drinkable. 8% is ok too, just a little strong for me. Thanks for your vids.
@jdub94ful No, but it's been scaled back and is probably on its way out. But, they don't promote it in any way. I don't think it's sold here in Laplace anymore.
Great review man. I know I'm a little late but this is one of my favorite malt liquor's/high gravity lager's. Thanks I really enjoy all your reviews there great!
Nice review! Just tried it right now after watching buzz feed wine experts on cheap beers. They gave it 5 star! I bought it and wasn't disappointed! A good fathers day beer :)
Ronald Theriot I live in the northeast, so I've only ever seen the 8.1 %. I never knew it was sold at a lower content anywhere else until I saw your video. Love your reviews by the way, very informative and you honestly give them a fair shake (despite other reviewers that are bashing from the start) I will have to sub so I don't miss any future ones.
You said it best, especially with the 8.1%. This beer should be drank at home, too many of these and you may get yourself in trouble. I drink Steele Reserve after work before I go to sleep. One 24 ounce can of 8.1% typically does it if I pound it. Cheers!
I been watching your reviews for some years,i think this is my first comment, and it's my first time to try this beer to this date,i like your reviews,i bought a can for the first time to try it out, giving a break to craft beer, this beer seem nasty at first, but as i was drinking it sip by sip i appreciated it,It's not the best but it does have character. Cheers.
As a craft beer drinker, I find it really refreshing to see someone objectively evaluate some of these more basic beers on their own merits as opposed to trying to get a laugh by rating them 1/100. However, I think that the reason that companies like Miller are so successful comes down to marketing as much as quality. Luckily we're seeing more small breweries produce things like pale lagers so that people who don't drink 100 IBU beers can still support small businesses.
@@ronaldtheriot Yeah heard its smoother than the silver steel reserve is a good beer? let me know if you text i will give you my cell phone number. Hagd Ron mdf tc be safe :)
When I go to buy these in the store I always feel like the clerks think I'm super poor and just need a cheap drink when in actuality I just enjoy them. Cheers
Oh, let 'em think what they want to think. Thanks for watching, Eric Downs!
Your ok Eric! This is a great brew to drink! Really get's me going.
Same here, lol, They sell a lot of micro brews at the store i always go to and I always only breeze right past it and go for the Steel and I always feel like the clerk is feeling sorry for me, lol, when like you said, I actually prefer Steel over any other high shelf beer/liquor or wine in the world.
Hey, if that's what you like, then there's nothing wrong with it. Thanks so much for watching, coffeeNcreambaby.
Ronald Theriot
thanks, yep everyone usually busts me for like steel, lol
One tall can. I feel super creative .This beer is actually pretty good tasting. It won gold medal in Europe.
Excellent. Thanks for watching, James Watson. I appreciate it!
this beer can kick your butt! lol I remember when me and my cousin both got a 40oz of this stuff while in college and we both straight downed it and then went walking around downtown Tempe in AZ and I felt like I had just drank a twelve pack lol
+Brian Dixon Ha-ha! That stuff sure is strong, Brian Dixon. Thanks so much for watching. I appreciate it!
@LitleWhiteClown Well, I say, "Drink what you like, not what others think you should drink!" Thanks for the kind comment, LWC!
Actually, Schlitz and Michelob taught be how to pour, with their literature and videos. Thanks for watching, coreylester150!
@ROBSKIES211 I understand. I usually drink from that mug with malt liquors. Otherwise, I use my tall beer glass, Schlitz glass, or a schooner (chalice).

Thanks a lot for watching, allanxbarahona!
@szor1 Beck's Octoberfest. There's one I've never tried. Thanks for watching!
@str8ballin1 Yeah, it's a big jump from like beer to this stuff. Thanks for watching, s8b1!
Thanks for watching, YoozaLame!
I 100% agree with you, Kevin Pitt. Thanks for watching!
It's both, ilovecatylove. Malt Liquor is a variant of lager. Thanks for watching!
@Dusco25 The more I drink this particular beer, the more I like it. Thanks for watching, D25!
Many would agree with you, DJPSW, ha-ha! Thanks for watching!
Yeah, but it's a throwaway beer that I enjoy and admire, richardmarez. Thanks for watching!
@str8ballin1 Hey, that's an interesting way of doing it, s8b1! Thanks again for watching!
you're my favorite beer reviewer. unbiased who just enjoys beer drinking. I usually look at your reviews before trying new brews.
Thanks! I appreciate your support, Emcee Logic!
@daddyhasthree03 It's usually in cans around here, too. But, occasionally, one will see it in the bottle- usually a 22 oz.
I know that's popular to do, infamousGSR, but I never do it. Thanks for watching!
You make very good beer reviews keep it up.
+justin ww Thanks, and I intend to do so!
@Yuck46 I've always had mixed feelings about Steel Reserve, but I do go back to it from time to time, so there must be something about it that attracts me.
Thanks for watching, Caitlin Carpenter. Well, I like Milwaukee's Best Ice, actually.
Thanks a lot for watching, masmotors! I appreciate you watching! Well, Bud Ice or Steel Reserve 211? Which is better? I guess I really like 'em both.
@deepwoodskentuckian Some people do find it to be harsh. Thanks for watching, DWK!
@Yuck46 Don't feel bad not agreeing with me. We all have different tastes in beer and food. As far as Steel Reserve goes, I remember when it first came out in 1998, and the 8% was sold here. I order Budweiser sometimes when they have 2 for 1 ($2.50). Thanks for watching, mokey tah!
Ok thanks ill be looking forward to that review!!
You're welcome.

+Gary W-l-o-t For me, I prefer the 6% Steel Reserve.
I agree with you. And you're right. Be care with it!
Thanks a lot, Marshall. I appreciate it.
I disagree, borthersohio. But, thanks for watching!
I believe that, sYnerGyZniGmA! Thanks a lot for watching!
Actually, I have information from some brewers (Schlitz & Michelob) that suggest pouring beer straight down into the glass.
Thanks a lot, ProtectedStock! I appreciate it!
That could be the case, or I might have just been wrong, WrecknTexxn. Thanks so much for watching!
Thanks for watching, FHS! Well, you're probably not the only person in the world that describes Steel Reserve in such a way.
Yes, I agree with that, and I have a revisit of Steel Reserve 211 (6%) coming up for October. Thanks for watching, YamahaYFS200!
Thanks for watching, bonnhew. I appreciate it! No, never had a DUI or a DWI. But, I've gotten some speeding tickets, ha-ha!
No, the 8.1% has not been sold in Louisiana for a long time. It's sold in Texas, though. I have done a review and a revisit of King Cobra.
Thanks for watching, Ed Leri! Well, this beer has grown on me the last 15 years.
I hope you like it, TR11!
Great review!! I was just on the Miller Coors website, I didn't know there was a 6% ABV version!! In my area I've only seen the high gravity 8.1%.
Yes, the 6% version came out in 2003. Thanks for watching, Robby94LS. I appreciate it!
No problem! I subscribed and will be watching more!! Glad to see someone doing real reviews on regular / cheaper beer and not just writing it off!!
Isn't that strange? But, it's got to be brewed at the big Fort Worth facility. Thanks for watching, Matt Blume!
I agree with you, Tom Reamer, and I appreciate you watching! That is strange that you all get both versions.
Who's a beer snob? Thanks for watching, Marshall Tennant!
That's a very common package for Steel Reserve 211 (6%) down here- 12 packs of cans.
I agree. And, I picked up the Triple Export version to review!
@LitleWhiteClown That's it? Thanks for watching, LWC!
Well, sometimes beers just don't appeal to people. It happens to me on occasion, but not much.
I 100% agree with you, BMR2002. We only get the 6% Steel Reserve in Louisiana.
@herbprophet I bet a lot of people use them. I'm not sure they're bad, though.
I love this beer. It’s my favorite!
Do y'all get the 8.1% or 6% version? Thanks for watching, Tricia Terry. i appreciate it!
Thanks. I figured it would be a good idea to save them when I started all this in 1996.

We don't get the 211 Black around here. Well, that's a weird video, I've got to say.
I like it, Azulun357. Thanks a lot for watching!
Thanks a lot, jedagromrips. I like to research these beers.
I would have never tried steel reserve 6 % without your reviews. Stuff is delicious, smooth, and very drinkable. 8% is ok too, just a little strong for me. Thanks for your vids.

@ROBSKIES211 Interesting. I've always had a place in my mouth & stomach for Natural Ice.

Thanks, and you're welcome!

Thanks for watching, 30kazy30! I appreciate it! Well, I enjoy the 6% 211, but the 8% version is a little too strong for me.
Steel Reserve all day. The only beer I drink, not for the lightweights lol
coffeeNcreambaby That's for sure. Do you drink the 6% or the 8% version.

Ice cold is the best, for these sorts of beers. Thanks for watching, Dave Feudner. I appreciate it!

Ben Ocon Yes, the 6% version is nice and mild. Thanks for watching, Ben Ocon. I appreciate it!
No, I don't fool with hard liquor. Well, I've got to limit myself!
Cheers for the interesting thoughts at the end.

@ROBSKIES211 But, it's a pretty ordinary mug, isn't it?
