The sad thing is, he did so much for school children. I was in school when he got rid of turkey twizzlers, as kids we hated it and parents played on that. This was the first time we had salad bars introduced and children in poverty got a decent meal which some didn't get at home. A pasty and a tin of soup poured over the top or a pot noodle is all they were going home to. Don't get me wrong, my mum fed me well but there were so many kids that didnt get a full meal at home. He cared more than you know and it pains me to see people hate him so much even if he does use chilli jam.
Very Well put fair play 👍😎
He's a prick
He didn't care. he was trying to take over as an exclusive overpriced source of food to schools, and attempted to tie them down to multi-year contracts that would have BURNED lots of schools entire budgets. He's a manipulative prick who's restaurants were selling tinned soup and microwave meals as chef-made. He refused to pay people legally owed wages and had to be sued over it. Even though he's worth 400million.
I can agree he did do a couple of good things, but it does not erase all the bad that he did. Worst is that he refused to acknowledge his own mistakes and just keep doubling down.
Like you guys said, he's heart was in the right place but it was really badly done.
He really had no clue on how us every day people get by. Sure we'd love to eat healthy all the time but unless you've got a decent bank balance as well as a lifestyle it's difficult a f!
That is such bullshit. In fact it's the kind of thing middle class people who can't imagine life without their M&S meal deal say. Healthy food only costs more when it's a pre-made meal. Raw ingredients cost less, and it doesn't take hours to put together a decent dinner with them either. In the twenty minutes it takes to heat up chicken nuggets, you could easily do some rice and stir fry a cheap chicken breast with some veg.
in my school, "going healthy" resulted in us getting LESS food than before. when prior we were getting burgers, chips and pizzas, now we were downgraded to just salads and sandwiches to last us an entire half day of school. a lot of us were still going in to classes hungry despite having just ate
A slice of pizza is enough for your lunch?
More like not enough portions, not enough calories, how could your school canteen provide a portion with insufficient calories?
Burgers are just actually sandwiches, but because of him no more burgers? Burgers can be healthy too, it's the ingredients that go into the construction of a burger that make it a healthy burger or bad burger.
@@siewheilou399 And the ingredients for the "healthy" one according to people like Jamie are expensive, lack flavour, may have poor shelf lives, and/or have long prep times. Making it all quite unsuitable for trying to feed to a bunch of picky kids.
Jamie has made huge mistakes but you can't condemn his desire to improve everyone’s health by improving their diet. Just drawing attention to this repeatedly makes him worthy in my eyes.
I wouldn't know about British food as I'm not a Brit but as a cooking enthusiast I love the simplicity of his recipes and the meals he cook. He very seldom includes ingredients that you can't find around the house or at your local supermarket and putting together one of his meals aren't overly expensive
Pity the NHS couldn't do anything about his "fat tongue" problem
pmsl
😂
I think you have to say "plus size" tongue nowadays.
He is so wildly out of his depth, he has no capacity to fully understand the issues he has tried to tackle. I don’t think he’s malicious. I think he does care, but in that supremely out of touch rich person way where they insert money and conviction where education on an issue’s nuances should go.
My family were always dirt poor growing up and we didn't eat processed food. It's actually cheaper to cook from scratch. People hate change because they are ADDICTED to processed food. It's being turned into a class thing - by the media who have an interest in promoting the processed food whose advertisements fund them...
Well it's also SOOO much easier to eat processed foods and takes zero education - so a big part of it is laziness and ignorance about what people eat as you're completely right - oh, and that's IF you eat leftovers, which SOOO many just don't/won't do.
well its not as fresh food has a short shelve life while tin an processed etc does not ..an a recent study found to buy an keep fresh food in the same amounts cost the shopper 60% more
classic "i did it so everyone does/can/should".
Educate the mass how did your family do it.
Uncle Roger approved video ✅😂
Haiyaa.
Your quick
Uncle Roger destroyed him. Love to see jamie Oliver humiliate himself and challenge uncle Roger
You think approval by a talentless troll with a single racist gimmick is important?
@@Samark-J HAHAHA, ah, there's always one of you in the comments isn't there? And by that I mean ignorant and hateful, yup always one of you.
I've never seen a Jamie Oliver show (or whatever they are), but I'm curious about the remark that the 'poor' can't afford to make healthy food?
Then you've never been poor
It's true in the USA and UK, processed food items filled the cheap mass market supermarkets where poor people shop, real food items like fresh veggies and animal protein are more expensive. In the USA wholefood is actually a high end food outlet, when is the last time you see shoppers go for under $950 free shopping spree in wholefood?
Idk if this is a controversial opinion but I think a lot of people jump to this conclusion because they don’t know how to cook. Yes, fresh fruit, veg and proteins (meat and fish) can be expensive. However they ignore all the healthy whole foods that are SO cheap in the UK. Lentils, beans, chickpeas - all excellent, sustainable sources of protein that are ridiculously cheap either canned or dried. Tinned fish like tuna or sardines, tofu and frozen veg are all nutritious, and cheap and readily available in mainstream supermarkets like Lidl and Aldi. However I feel (as someone who grew up in mainland Europe and loves cooking) that your average Brit just doesn’t consider these ingredients because it’s not your standard British food that they’ll know how to cook. I also see people argue that because they work and are too busy to cook so these things aren’t “convenient”. But these are all ingredients where you can easily batch-cook on a Sunday for the following weeks dinners - lentil bolognese, chickpea curries, tuna pasta bake.
its rubbish. this whole video is nothing but disgusting propoganda. They're saying that poor people are too poor to cook fresh healthy meals. It's false we just make bad choices.
@@Youcanthandlemyhandle899 Poor my entire life. I know how to cook meat and veg into a meal and have it last. You're just dumb.
He's right about schools.
Sorry, Jamie, you just DON'T mess with Scotland, and expect to come out unscathed. We sent him homewards, to think again! (In regard to BOGOF)
well you kind of didnt did you as he made alot from scotland
@@simoncox9689 Listen to the documentary. My comment is in regard to BOGOFs' BUT I WILL rephrase my comment.
Yes, don't mess with the home of the BOGOF healthy deep fried Mars Bar! 🤮
Remember when he tried telling school kids what chicken nuggets were made out of (with a slightly sly look) and then asked them if they'd still eat them.
They said yes and his priceless reaction said it all😂
He’s well meaning but is as out of touch as any multi millionaire trying to preach to normies.
What Jamie Oliver is doing as far as bringing healthier options to all, he really is going about it in such an elitist manner, it's not even funny. Shaming the most financially vulnerable population for not being able to buy fresh food or not caring about their own health? Like, seriously. Total a waste for him to say something that condescending. It's no wonder Uncle Roger despises him and understandably so.
never idolize people. They are never who they appear to be or they turn into someone you don't like
Bastard single handedly ruined Lucozade
i am sensitive to all artificial sugars, all make me ill, a couple i am allergic to, every time i go shopping i hate him, pimms changed the recipe, now i cant have a nice jug with friends on a hot afternoon
How can Jamie Oliver have ruined British food when it never had any reknown on the continent.
True!
Jamie Olive Oil doesn't have much of a sense of humour either. He could have taken Uncle Rogers "jokes" light-heartedly like Hersha Patel did and turn it to an opportunity to collab. If you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at?
What did Oliver do?
i thought he just ignored Uncle roger
@ Its a bit more complicated than that. I reckon Jamie was acting like an Emo teenager who got his feelings hurt. Gordon Ramsey was smart enough to recognise an opportunity and collab with Uncle Roger a number of times. In other words, Jamie was taking the jokes too seriously.
Dude I don't think he knows who Uncle Roger is... why would he?
Hahaha imagine making fun of a dude and then you and your rabid fanbase losing it when he doesn't make a public response "What a prick, you should be giving me cred and clout like Gordon Ramsay"
Between Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsey, I would rather listen to Gordon Ramsey about healthy food. Plus I respect Gordon more than I do Jamie.
The man is patronising; food on a budget that involves ingredients that aren't available at the local shop.
Jamie likes to say authentic a lot, he certainly is a massive authentic TW@.
I remember how shit school lunch became and resulted in me skipping lunches often. Not ideal when you need food to learn and grow. Instead of cheap but filling and tasting foods we got cheap shit tasting "healthy" food. Sure if they had a bigger budget then healthy foods could be good but that was never the case.
Americans sent him packing when he tried to lecture them about their school dinners and diets.
because they like diabetes and cancer... what can you do?
@@DP-tf7qb Good thing we have a great health system, oh wait I need to declare bankrupcy again.
Anyone the Americans keep are to be worried about. In American schools I doubt the food is the most dangerous thing. Burgers aren't as dangerous as guns and racism.
Ngl david, i still like fish n chips
He tries to be all things to all people and doesn’t practise what he preaches all standards are ruled by the gold standard or search for more gold in his pocket, I think he has even confused himself as. He says we’ve never been so unhealthy says the food teacher,
Any time Uncle Roger says you're doing something wrong, he's basically politely saying "You are SERIOUSLY screwing up!"
I'm not British so have not had the same exposure to Jamie as the British have. I do feel he's the only chef worldwide that I know of who has tried to actively help people in his and other countries to improve their health through diet. He went out there and tried.
They integrated his food idea at the school I went to but i was a week after i left & started college. It backfired more and more children keeped bring packed lunches and the school had to go back to the old way of food.
To be fair, British food wasn't doing so great before Jaime
Britain has excellent food, and always had. You have no idea where Britain actually is, do you?
Its reputation has been trashed by hysterical American sneering - that place deserves Trump.
@@Samark-J Try looking at some videos of food in the 60s/70s, then come back & say Britain has always had excellent food. It certainly didn't back then!
Says the country where, if you mourn the murder of little girls, you can be arrested.
British cuisine wasn't great but in the 80s it made a huge leap and now the jokes about its food are totally passe. British supermarket food is way better than the stuff available in the US. I lived in the UK and now live in the US. I miss British supermarkets. The restaurants in London are fabulous now. And America now imports tons of British cooking shows, not just Jamie and obnoxious Gordon, but also the lovely Nigella.
him banning turkey twizzlers and school dinners is pretty much the worst thing he ever did
If it wasn’t for Jamie’s cooking shows I would have never began learning to cook full stop. A lot of the criticism on Jamie has been a bit unfair but not entirely unwarranted for the reasons stated in this video. Like all chefs, they have an agenda, but the fact his restaurants failed was down to the industry and the trials and tribulations of hospitality, not him.
People thought a funny meme was serious and that he was Satan or something.
No it wasn't down to the industry which is literally blaming the environment around you. It was due to his lack of business acumen and experience and perhaps insight as well. Why? Because Gordon's businesses have been wildly successful even if heavily criticised despite the fact that both businesses started growing around the same time in the UK. And with Jaimie having a bigger net worth then Gordon does, he could have absolutely kept his business afloat in the short run while finding a solution if he was serious and passionate about it. So no, it wasn't the environment, it was him.
Oh yes, the man that Uncle Roger never liked.
or gorden ramsey
Hahaha, a brilliant way of summarising the majority of youtube commenters knowledge of Jamie Oliver, merely that he's disliked by a comedian
the Guy Fieri of UK TV chefs before Guy Fieri was even a thing... but somehow he is an even worse cook than "the Mayor of Flavor Town".
His obsession with lemons really annoyed me.
There's times that you want that greasy burger or those turkey twizzlers there's nothing wrong with that. The problem that I have is that the likes of Jamie Oliver is he seems to think that we have them all the time and preaches on what we should eat.
His biggest mistake was trying to change school dinners instead of showing how easy, cheap and creative pack lunches can be. He trebled the price of school dinners at one point and now we have the like of Marcus Rashford campaigning for free school dinners because parents can't afford them
He’s done more than you ever will
And? Augusto Pinochet did more than I ever will. Does that make him a top bloke?
Working class people in this country have different attitude to food compared to more affluent people.
I'm working class and I eat healthy. It's sad how addicted a lot of people are to heavily processed carbs etc. Is it really so terrible to try to feed children food that isn't negatively impacting their health.
@@tr3vk4m no evidence of people being addicted it is down to a cost issue
If you’re here cuz of Uncle Roger, please y’all hearts 🧡🙏🏾🧡
Leave Jamie Oliver alone. He's a nice boy.
Uncle Roger is Right.
How do you ruin British Food? It just comes that way anyhow.
😂🤣😂 So So True
You're out of date. Britain stopped having crap food in the 80s.
i must confess "can't say ive ever seen the guy Naked"! regardless of the nick name 🤷♂️ big up to Lad 👍😎
In a word, British food is "stodgy"; anything Jamie comes up with has got to be better.
dont now British food then
I get he means well, like when he tried to change school dinners for the better. But he's such a too gooder he's always got to do the right thing, and Turkey twizzlers that is a childhood given right yeah it may not have been healthy but as long as you enjoy it every once in awhile.
taking away peoples choice is never the solution, thats the problem
@Jamie_D yes that too.
I love Jamie's shows. His latest series (Jamie's £1 Wonders & Money Saving Meals) has some brilliant recipes.
He never stuck to a meat and two veg type diet.thats the British way.And it's healthy. For to much foreign foods.
Ramsey better
He's a joke and shouldn't be taken seriously 😬
Just like Rashford he's away with the fairies
I have always found him obnoxious.
I watched him in 2009
Ruined British food? You can't ruin what's ALREADY shit!
British food actually has improved far beyond that cliché by doing what Britain does best: Stealing things from the rest of the world, using a working class army and upper crust nobles in charge.
Jamie, however, is middle class. Too rich to make stealing a necessity, too poor to think you should own everything. And so a failure at being British.
can you do a series on top world chefs...........????? everyone from gordon ramsy to nigela, also............. when featuring world class foods, why does everyone feature italian foods............?????? whats wrong with slovic foods, or scandinavian foods, thank god canada and the u.s. are built on the backs of the english men..................... otherwise we would think fish and chips are a canadian thingy..................hahahahahha
aaah, its Uncle Roger's BFF! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This guy looks like he has spit coming out of his mouth when he talks.
He’s just a twonk, constantly belittling the poor.
Looking out for their wellbeing. People just can't accept that they're addicted to processed carbs and will do anything to defend them. Very sad.
@@tr3vk4m what rubbish..he has over 100 mill an he cant understand the cost an time to make the food he is on about ..what is sad is people like dont seem to get it either ..there is a huge cost diffrence in fresh food to more processed food
This what happens when you surround yourself with sycophants
I have an idea for a new video.
"How WatchMojo ran out of shite to post so produced this turd"
Turkey Twizzlers still exist.
And his restaurant chain doesn't anymore. That's what I'd call karma lol
I’m sure he’s lovely as a person but…just…no.
Absolutely hate this guy
The day this geezer went on our TV he's ruined UK food. I've never liked him that wants to dictate what we can and can't eat. I was eating school meals all through the 70s and 80s and it never effected me in anyway 🙄
admittedly in the 70's and early 80's school food was meat and 2 veg, designed for children who didn't eat at home to get good nutrition. it was stodgy, but it was enough, as we got older we walked to school and back, so we could get pot noodles for tea, our dad always made sure we had bus fare, though he was absent, but our womb-rent, rarely fed us, thankfully our grandma visited and took us to live with her. but yes '77 food that time was good but in the mid 80's it started being chips all the time
HE'S BEING ENTITLED BY UNCLE ROGER AS JAMIE OLIVE OIL, HAIYAA! LMFAO! 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks to this muppet, kids were scoffing the trash foods on a school bus between home & schools each day. Clearing up after them “binge eating” was not exactly pleasant, trust me!
Wow. So you're just slandering left right and center...
I used to really rate Jamine Oliver so much, so my husband proposed to me in one of his restaurants. But I lost respect when he started telling new mums we should breastfeed, which is not always possible!
He's the worst chef ever seen on t v. Bad boys >> yuk.
No videos slating Labour i see... Despite this rubbish channel constant Tory bashing.... 🙄
The man is arrogant buy one get one free helped a lot of people with big family that fill a home for a month but he won't know much about being in the on the poverty line
Tastws have changed, as has his hair colour.
Cant ruin what was never good lmao.
can you even ruin British food?
Not suprised ramsey cant stand him
I always thought his cooking was crap!!!
Not great a running a business
He can't cook. Who the hell puts tap water in egg fried rice !
or chilli jam
Just British?
I was looking for a recipe for Pesto in English to send to an American friend and I came across his version - with lemon and pepper 🤢
Then I learned he went bankrupt. Good. Genoese karma I guess? 😄
The idea that there is one single recipe for pesto, with a fixed list of ingredients, is utterly fucking moronic.
tbf if you’re going to be an insufferable purist about pesto, you shouldn’t have to go “looking for” a recipe to remember basil, garlic, olive oil, pine nuts and the optional parmigiano reggiano
OpTiOnAL 🤣
His kids names…. That’s all I’m saying… 🤨🤣
Your chips etc was a terrible diet,he at least tried to alter that.
What a horrible, scathing, unfair video... can you say anything about all the positive things he's done
When he goes away, we can all be positive about that.
jamie "the hero" oliver is not a medical or health expert, he does not know your personal lifestyle, your genetic makeup, or your family's medical history. take health advice from properly trained humans not a complete joke of DNA like jamie "I'm superior" oliver
2nd!
On The Naked Chef : "I've got these actors, sorry FRIENDS, coming round for some dinner later"
Luckily not seen and heard of him in ages
He now doing a show for channel 4 which is just a glorified advert for Tefal Air fryers.
Sour grapes. Jamie has changed the way we think about food and thank god he did. Have you seen the average Brit? They look like they are going to die of diabetes. CANCELLING YOUR CHANNEL NOW.
