Instead of the bottling tree, I put my bottles (neck down) in the dishwasher and run it without soap or rinsing agent. When i'm ready to bottle, I put the bottling bucket on the counter above the dishwasher. Then pull out the bottles one at a time to fill them. Any drips land on the open dishwasher door.
Sounds like you’ve got the best of both worlds-kegs for convenience and bottles for sharing! Glad you found the tips helpful. Cheers and happy brewing! 🍻
my phone must have been listening to me cursing up a storm and bottling last night. I open TH-cam today and this is the first video that came up. where do I sign up for the support group hehehe. cool video, I will be looking into some of the equipment mentioned here. I'm done filling and shaking bottles to rinse
Haha, gotta love when the algorithm actually gets it right! 😂 Bottling rage is real-you’re definitely not alone! Glad you enjoyed the video, and hopefully, some of these tips make your next bottling session a bit less painful. 🍻 Cheers!
I fixed my issue with 50 12 oz bottles…. I use 64 growlers and stainless steel gallon mini kegs… I’m done in half the time and don’t regret it or dread it. Three the 12 oz bottles away, well except for a few 12 packs I use for trials/friends.
That’s an awesome setup! Switching to growlers and mini kegs sounds like a massive time saver, and stainless steel gear is always a great investment. I hear you on the 12 oz bottles-I’ve kept a few around for the same reasons, but it’s hard to beat the efficiency of larger containers. Cheers for sharing your approach!
I store my empty clean bottles upside-down in a beerkrate instead of that drying tree. I clean them in a dishwasher before brewing, clean them with starsan than dry on the tree after a visual inspection. I don't use carbonation cubes, I mix sugar with hot water and add that to the beer filled bucket. (More control over carbonation levels.)
@@hetspook666 Thanks for the comment! Bulk priming is definitely a great method, and I’m glad it works well for you. I totally get what you mean-I wanted to keep this video focused on beginner-friendly tips without diving too deep into sugar-to-CO2 calculations. Maybe a future video could cover more advanced techniques like bulk priming in detail. Cheers for watching and sharing your thoughts!
Thanks for the sub and the support-really appreciate it! Going back to bottling definitely isn’t “backwards,” especially if the KISS principle is working for you. Sometimes simple is better! Cheers for watching and happy brewing! 🍻
@Sailor426 that is true, but if your not using co² to pre fill the bottle there will be oxygen anyways. The yeast while eating the sugar will use that oxygen. Most off flavours will be gone after 3 weeks stored warm. It doesn't need a lot of movement to mix it.
Mate, I hear ya! Kegging is an absolute game-changer-no more capping bottles for hours. Pricier upfront, but totally worth it for the convenience (and the perfect pours)! 🍻🔥
I quit sanitizing my caps years ago and have not had an issue. I read once that when using oxygen barrier caps, the sanitizer activates them reducing their efficiency at removing oxygen. Also if you have your lovely wife fill the bottles while you cap saves a lot of time too.
Fair call! If it’s working for you, no reason to change. I’ve heard the same about oxygen barrier caps, but I still give them a quick dunk out of habit. And yeah, having a bottling assistant makes life way easier-might have to bribe mine with a few beers! 🍻😂
Sounds like you’ve got it figured out! Those 4.5L Oxybars are a great middle ground-way less hassle than bottling but still portable. Nothing wrong with being efficient (or lazy 😉). Cheers! 🍻
I made the switch to kegging about a year ago, but recently brewed a stout with my brother in law that we plan to bottle and split between us. Good tips, thanks a lot
Dude you are a CHARACTER! Love this
Haha, cheers mate! Gotta keep things entertaining-beer’s meant to be fun, after all! 🍻😆

Gone from bottling beer to kegging my beer but getting right into brewing big time now and back bottling a few brews to take to places. Great tips.

Thanks for the info. Thinking about switching to growlers for my next batch.
Some good tips here. Thanks.

More chance of getting oxidation with bottling bucket.
Liked your video I was kegging for years now bottling again some say I’ve gone backwards but I’ve adopted the KISS principle 👍subscribed

If it werent for kegging m, i would have quit brewing years ago. So much better, and worth the expense imo.

Nice one! Kegging is a game changer, but there’s something satisfying about bottling a good stout to enjoy later. Hope it turns out great-cheers! 🍻
