  • Thank you so much to all of you, and thank to all my new subscribers! This is my 18th video project, and it was a venture into new territory for me. I have wanted to get into segmenting for a while, and this project has sufficiently motivated me. Dan Livingston (channel link below) made this ring in a recent video (video link below) and sent it to me. Once I get my act together, I will try my hand at making a feature ring and then send it to Dan as the 2nd phase of this collaboration. Let me know what you all think!

"Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder", it truly has always been so and always will be so .... I prefer your own art style ... I do Love what you do with this ... And (like the coffee grinders and bowls you have made) I love an art work that is also something practical that can be used and this is exceptional in that manner. I will now have to go check out Dan's site (not sure if I've watched him ... I have watched many wood turnings ... you are the only one I subscribe to). Love & Peace to All

    • @DavidAdamsen
      @DavidAdamsen  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you so much, John! It dawned on me while turning that this particular segmented ring was pure side grain, which I had never experienced before. It turns like butter. I couldn't believe it! I'm so used to turning end grain twice each revolution. It gets me intrigued even more about starting segmentation. The time investment is quite high, so I don't think I'd go crazy with it other than developing cool feature rings. We'll see!

    Beautifully creative piece David! I’m not sure why I wasn’t subbed and I apologize for that. I have corrected this! Nice work to Dan as well segmenting is on my list for all this isolating we are supposed to do !

      Kennett! Thank you so much! No worries at all. I find that I can’t keep up with all the woodturners I would like to as well as get out to the shop. So I’m always in catchup mode. Cheers!

      David Adamsen yeah I know right! There are so many cool folks turning now! I had to go through and unsub to a large list that haven’t uploaded in a while so I could keep up better!

    I really appreciated the close up photography showing. A big help to a novice turner! I'm going to have another go at some redwood. Previous attempts, not so great.

      Thanks John! Redwood is a bit tricky. It is so light that it tends to crack under stress, but slow and steady wins! Best wishes!

    Gorgeous turning as always, David. Welcome to the world of segmented turning but be careful; it can be very addicting! Really enjoyed the video and I will have to check out Dan Livingston’s channel. 👍👍👍👍

      Thanks Gord. I have yet to make my first actual segmented ring, but I’m planning to get my act together soon on that!
