Hey, mate! Great video. I'm in Australia and have a bunch of Thais.
Price wise: Currently, their prices seem to be plummeting because of TC (loads of people importing and growing them out and selling smaller plants) and people cutting up larger plants and flooding the market. At the moment you can get a small TC plant with 2-3 leaves about the size of your thumb for about $120AUD and a cutting for about $100-200AUD depending on the variegation and root development/growth tip vs mid cutting, etc. A fully established large plant the size of yours would probably be $400-600AUD at least, maybe more.
Growth wise: It's interesting you mention yours is really slow. I've got some that are growing about as slowly as yours, but others that are pushing out a leaf every month/month and a half. We're in winter here in Australia at the moment, so temps are down a bit, but inside they're at about 18C-20C and I've boosted light to 18hrs a day with grow lights.
Propagation: My experience has been mixed to put it mildly. I went a bit hard at first and bought a few larger, uglier plants and then chopped them up into many nodes. The majority of nodes without leaves have rotted, even if they had roots prior to cutting. Nodes with leaves and an aerial root have all survived. Tip cuttings have rooted rapidly in water, whilst mid cuttings that I've taken (from the same plants) are yet to do anything (it's been about 1.5 months). So yeah... they seem to be a mixed bag. I'd recommend definitely water propping tip cuttings and if you've got nodes + leaves/roots, they can probably handle being cut, but if the nodes have no leaves, don't try it.
I just got my first Thai constellation a couple weeks ago. It arrived much smaller than I expected. If it's as slow growing as people say, I might have a substantial plant by the time I'm 80. 😂
Some people have said that theirs has grown a bit faster so you never know, maybe not 80 but 60 😂

Good to know about the mealy bugs, I had a mini freak out because a plant on my top shelf had mealy bugs and the monstera thai was a couple shelves below 😅 So far so good 🤞🏻
My babe got me one for Christmas in the states for $250 even has 2 fenstrastion holes!!! And 4 leaves, so impressed!!!
Mine is giving me a new leaf every a month and half. Even winter time.

i purchased a 4 inch baby thai may 2023. kept it under barrina strip grow lights til it became too tall. it’s always been in a south facing window. it fenestrated after 2-3 new leaves following its purchase. i feed it with fish emulsion or monstera-specific fertilizer weakly with each watering. i alternate between the two fertilizers approximately once a week. i use the same gallon of water + fertilizer on all my houseplants. never experienced root rot, touch wood 🙌🏽 the game changer was: each time an aerial root starts growing, i air layer it in a ziplock bag, then its own clear container with sphagnum moss & superthrive. doing so, appears to grow the new emerging leaf faster 🤷🏾♀️ previously, i would then train the aerial root to the soil. now that mine has matured to the size of yours, im gonna try to chop since the plant has matured so well. all of the the leaves grown in my care and conditions have remained intact. i also grow mine as a climber vs. crawler.

I’ve had my baby Thai since December, and it’s put out two new leaves. I’m hoping it will grow a bit more quickly this summer, but I realize it will be a bit of a plodder! That said, it is absolutely gorgeous, and I’m excited to watch it become a stately specimen!

I bought a 2-leaf starter plant for like $70, but I know the prices really are dropping. I'd rather grow it from a baby vs buying a giant plant. I barely have the space anyways right now.
It’s a very slow growing. Had it 3 yrs an still small. I think 600$ is high for one, especially when they were supposed to have been affordable for ppl. Would really like too see one of the ones Costa sold. 💚😀

From what I have heard they were really large mature mother plants. I think it is a good deal but I’ve also heard of people having rot problems with Costa Thais.
Hey! I repotted my monstera about a month ago, but I'm thinking I'd like to add more orchid bark to my soil mixture. Would you think it's safe to add more bark and mix it into the soil? Or is another full repot in order? I don't want to bother the root ball or new roots. Thanks!
How much light would you say you give this plant in comparison to say the large Florida ghost you did a similar review video on? Both mine are getting rather large. Just wondering if I should maybe add more light to them.
i use silicia on my albos to stay white and strong, this could work on stopping the browning parts on the thais

Just ordered one for 350. It abs 5 leaves. I’m super excited, but anxious for root rot. Granted, I really haven’t had much trouble with root rot.

I got my Thai as a single leaf rooted cutting in December, and it gave me a new leaf quite quickly. Thought it was going to give me another quite quickly as the petiole had that sheath-looking thing forming (can’t remember the word 😅) But then it got root rot 😭
From what I’ve seen online, Thais are quite prone to root rot. I had it in a light and airy potting mix and was very careful with watering, but it still got it 🤷🏽♀️ It’s currently rooting quite well in perlite, and I want to move it over to pon and eventually to self-watering.
Hoping to get at least another leaf before summer, but with the rot I’m not sure it’s in the cards…

My son gave me his Thai Constellation when he moved to another state. It's about 1 1/2 years old. It has 3 leaves. I'd like to change it from soil to pot like you did. How difficult was the transition and did yours lose any leaves when you did it? I certainly don't want to harm this plant as I couldn't afford another plus the emotional attachment I have for it. Have you done any videos on transitioning plants? I watch your videos all the time but don't remember seeing one like that.
Monsteras are typically very hearty plants and you can definitely repot them without any issues. It helps for the soil to mostly be dry and be gentle with the root system.
Do you own a large form monstera. How does it compare to a large monstera in terms of speed of growth? I don't own a thai but my large monstera is super slow at growing
oh I didn't know that the large form took a long time to grow, sadly no I dont think my regular deliciosa is large from, just a regular deliciosa
I was following the Costa Farms sale in the US 2 weeks ago and the Thai monsteras were going for $600. They said the price had increased because the plants had matured and grown to 36 inches (I think that's about a meter) tall and all proceeds were going to a nature conservatory. That was too much for me!

It's good that the were putting the money towards something too. Knowing that takes the sting out of the price tag.
Definitely one that I regularly treat to a lint roller massage. I hate thrips. Currently dealing with them. Or still? I don’t even know. 🙄

How much for a cutting
Mine gives a leaf once a year ( late spring ) :(
But I find them really easy to propagate.
Wish I had your experience. I find it rots easily for me. Maybe sphagnum moss not the best way too do it. 💚
@@sherryporsch9349 It really depends on the type of cut and if there are any roots present. But usually I opt for a vase with filtered water, activated charcoal bits and an air bubbler. Never fails.
