A good sharp chain is the way to go! I have the Oregon version of that. Each tooth is cut to the same angle, this way you don’t get a curve when you cut.
I'd say just short spurts, not grinding continuously on a cutter, would prevent heat build up that can change temper and cause unwanted problems. Once bluing occurs, there's trouble.
Oh NOOOOO!!! Oh we gotta talk brother!!! Those “sharpeners” are the WORST! I’m thinkin this is gonna fall into that “we’re all wired a little different” category!!🤣 I’m a powersaw fanatic nut!! The pleasure I get when that chain touches the wood and just FALLS through it with nice big chips flyin out at you, well, it’s darn near SINFUL! And getting a chain that scary sharp is done by HAND!! Knowing how it’s going to perform is what gives you the pleasure of the sharpening process!! Hand filing with a round file is where you find that pleasure! Filing properly gives you a better and safer cut all around AND, you don’t eat through chains! That fancy machine doesn’t file the depth gauges either. Now, I’ll concede that the Stihl two in one is a fair substitute BUT, it’s still not as good as a hand filing! You can’t get the gullet! You just can’t! Bare with me…do me one small favor while we’ve still got some cold nights that you might find an hour or even two, and do a search for this guy in TH-cam..you ready?! Write this down now so you won’t forget!! Write down Buckin Billy Ray! Buckin Billy Ray!! He’s the master of the power saw and there’s no one who can teach you a fast and effortless way to hand file to a professional level! It’s east! Really! Practice helps yes of course….but this guy will show you down, dirty and fast, how to do it right! You’ll get DOUBLE the life from a chain AND, you’ll cut so well it’ll become a drug!!! Honest!! Now I know, there’s a time and place for a chain sharpening machine…there is and I’ve used them…but it’s a rare, RARE event that I do! I LOVE to hand file!! It’s part of the powersaw! It’s part of the joy! Yea…I love ‘em! Especially the old Macs! Okay…off my box…go check him out!! Buckin Billy Ray!! But I’m warnin ya..it’s addicting like a drug!! 😁👊🏻🇺🇸
@@Curtis1824 I do wish I’d started 30 years ago…the past 15 years have been an epiphany of a need to learn new skills (mostly old skills our ancestors had that we’ve lost), and prep! But…it’s fun and work at the same time and, gives me a reason to buy or build new tools!! 😁

I have one similar to this but I prefer to hand file I think the grinder over heats the chain making it soft just my taught

I know it isn’t the best. I have the Stihl sharpener which I like. I’ll look him up. One more skill to master!
