I considered buying both of these drones recently. I used some of your older Mavic Air videos as well as some other creators. I also watched some Mavic Mini videos. I ended up choosing the Mavic Air and bought a used one with extra battery and some other goodies for a little more than the price of a Mavic Mini fly more. My deciding factor was the 4k camera, ability to shoot 1080p @ 120 fps with the Air, and also the obstacle avoidance.
I own both of them and I also own Mavic pro zoom an 2 too. And i say they all are great drones. But once my friend asked me" Which one of them you will sell first?" and I answered : The Air. It's great, but if you don't need professional looking vids ( vids still look's great!) or pics and you are happy with TH-cam material, then it's more reasonable to buy a Mini, because it's much cheaper and it's still real great drone. I give big plus for Mini's flight time. If you want and need great picture quality then buy Air. My first was Air and I think I still keep it.
I had all 3 also but found i didn't need the mini anymore, to me the quality of the air, all the sensors and its looks better than the mini so I sold my mini, have been very happy with my air and don't regret selling the mini, the mini felt very cheap and lite to me like a toy...the 30 minute flight time from the mini didn't make me want to keep it, the air is like flying a jet, the mini is like flying a Cesena..
@@mont357 I sold the air and looking for the mini or probably air 2. The reason I don't like air is the loud noise and lower flight time. air 2 would be perfect but costlier and weigh more :(
I have both.. both are great drones. However I prefer the mini for flight time.. and despite being 2.7k my opinion is the picture quality is much better. Even better now with manual white balance.
I think a second hand Mavic air fly more package would win hands down for any new user or seasoned pro, I recently compared a Used Mavic Pro, Used Mavic Air and new Mavic Mini 3 months ago as a second easy to carry drone for myself and I picked a used Mavic air fly more with less than 3 hours flying time and I am super impressed, the obstacle avoidance is a must for new users. great video as always
I like to try the mini if someone had one here I could try. But I’m still so happy with the spark and Mavic Air. So definitely probably the last great 2 drone I will ever own. They do everything I need right now. Thanks Kelly for the video and keep inspiring people like myself to the hobby. You guys be safe, it’s just so bad here in California with the virus. It’s not looking good in my area.
Since the new Mavic Air 2 is coming out this month, do you think the first Mavic Air model will be ruined with newer updates? I ask cause I want to buy the Mavic Air but I’m afraid of new updates ruining it so Idk if I should then get the mini
I’ve been contemplating buying a drone for a few years. Been looking for a week and decided on a mavic mini however I thought what the heck I’ll check Varagesale quick. I found a Mavic Air Flymore for 500 CAD, it has never been crashed or has any physical damage, it only has one hour of flight time for a total of 9 flights got the guy to screenshot the DJI app info. Going to grab it tomorrow. Really am excited. Was worried with the mini about the low weight and wind resistance, where I live in the prairies the winds can be vicious so having the extra weight of the Mavic Air and speed makes me feel a lot more at ease. Of course user skill is a huge factor! Can’t wait to get into this hobby, we have some gorgeous sunsets here on the prairies in Canada and lots of open space, lots of time on my hands due to Covid-19 time to jump right in. You think the Mavic Air is showing it’s age being a bit older? I’m someone concerned about parts availability in the future but I’m not sure thats warranted Great video subbed 👍
9:49 XD. What more are we going to hear. If someone use drone footage for work such as weddings and indoors then the MM is the best option, not the bigger and louder one. Resolution sometimes is not exclusive on video quality, as in the case between MM and MA, and if there is such thing as a "starter drone" ("starter" anything generally regarding motordriven?) then it is a drone with sensors. But hey, the most funny thing in this latest review is the wedding thing XD.
Air still the BEST~ Lots of features, with great advance technologies, middle price level, never make people feel it's bulky but super portable, I love it~
Hey Kelly, a very nice comparison review of these two drones. Direct, well balanced, and a great comparison chart that can be passed along to the some looking for a new drone, thank you!
Hi Kelly, As usual, great information for those in the market for small ultra portable camera drones. RC Hobby is a great social distancing fun activity that gets children and adults outside away from population to enjoy time with family or alone when feeling house bound and not wanting to park kids in front of TVs or to take a fun fresh-air break if working from home. Stay heathy, keep on Droning.
I am a beginner I can get the mini for basically 400 or i can get the air fly more combo on sale for 700. Suggestions?...want to use for casual film. Also I am only considering the air cuz the deal but not sure if its worth it or if i need it
Elliott Lee i was told the mavic air 2 just released at a price point of like 800 and 1000$ for the fly more combo so im just saving a lil extra for that one. but between the mini and the 1st gen air i would go with the mini
"4 km range"... I'm surprised whenever I get 400-500 meters before it starts yelling that I have to turn back! I have no idea what you have to do and where you have to be to get the full 4 km. In the middle of a flat desert, with no trees or bushes? In many urban areas my Air can't reach 50 meters without telling me there is too much interference. Hmm. I hope my new Mavic 2 Pro performs better in that area
The difference maker for me was the drones with the fly more kit. You can have the mini for $500. The air goes to $900-1100. At that price I’d consider getting a nicer drone. Also at that price waiting and seeing if there will be an air 2 or Mavic 3 coming.
Wanted to get the mavic air when I was in China 4 months ago. Went to every place in Shanghai that sold dji drones and non of them had mavic air, even dji flagship store.
Good day I have a unrelated question to the topic at hand. I live in a area where it is very windy and am looking for my first drone as a beginner, I would like to do some fishing with it too, so I really need your help to decide if to go with the mavic mini or hubsan zino pro
Isn’t the Mavic Air 2 right around the corner? I currently own the Mavic mini but I think I will seriously consider upgrading to the Mavic Air 2 especially if it has OcuSync. Obviously with the current situation the world is in the Mavic Air 2 could be delayed.
Love the video! I’m am stuck in between and I need some advice for which one to choose. I love the 4K video from the Mavic Air but I am concerned about flight time and range. I love how the Mavic Mini is able to have 30 min of flight time and is a smaller price but it does not have the same camera quality as the Mavic Air. I am also concerned about how the video with the Mavic Mini is already edited and you cannot make as many changes to it as you can with the Mavic Air, along with the new app. Please help!
Morning Kelly and thanks for the video. I have a Mavic Pro Platinum and now a Mini. I bought the Mini so I would have a QUIET small drone between the toys and the Mavic Pro. I also wanted something easy to pack with my amateur radio gear and that has a long flight time. I'm OK with 2.7K or 1080 video for now. I'm really pleased to hear your comparison of them though. I wish there was a perfect drone, but I'm still looking for one. BTW, I've been flying the heck out of a Hubsan X4 107L in the house. It's a fun little toy and has really brought my piloting skills forward. If we get a break in the weather here (it's been cold and snowy since Friday and windy before that), I'll get the Mini out for a good run. In the meantime, I'm flying indoors in my small duplex unit.
Hey David! Thanks for the comment. I actually sent your Potensic A30 out today. You should have it there in a few days. Another good drone to practice on!
I was about to buy the Mini but then found a Mavic Air on clearance at bigbox store for $350 so i got the Air instead, for some reason, i lost connection at about 2500 ft although the wifi icon show full bar, but still love to fly this thing :)
Thank you I was educated on your review. Also, if its ok if you can also make a review comparison between mavic and phantom drones and which is much a better? Thanks again
How come your video is in 1080p and looks so good on my 65 inch tv? Maybe 4k still rendering and the bit rate of this 1080 p is really high? Relevant issue since I sent my mavic mini back bcz of the lack of 4k. Now, this is confusing:))
You should be able to pull video off the micro SD card in the drone. Unless you mean doing screen recording on the phone - for that, I'm using the built in screen recording in iOS.
Can anyone give me some help. I have shot both video and stills, however I can only find the video’s on the dji app. No idea where the still would be. Also, I can watch video’s on app, but haven’t figured out how download to my iPhone. Thanks for any help someone might offer
Stills will only be on the sd card. If you remove the sd card ans then take stills, then stills will store to phone. But vids and stills saved to phone will be low quality versions.
Great video, thank you! I am in the market for a reasonable small drone. As a beginner I seem to be more inclined towards the Mavic Air due to the obstacle avoidance functionality. Still trying to decide.
I am also thinking about between. Mavic Mini vs Mavic Air, If I have the feature follow me in Mavic mini, I have no second thought to buy it. still waiting whether DJI will upgrade mini with follow me mode.
Thank you for the video. I am from Kurdistan region in Iraq. I am very interested in your videos. I want to buy a drone for 3d mapping purposes, but I don't know which one should I choose. Please help me what drone do you suggest?
I know which is even before watching the video, the one that does NOT require a touch screen device to have full control. ( translation: neither, they both require a touch screen device to have full control )
2k Camera is good enough for me I'm from the 80s so it's godly as is... I like the mini. It's superior my friend has an air and his stuff don't look any better. Software today fixes everything it lacks
You sound like you are biased too the Air for some reason. That's what I took away from this video. Mini is much worse in almost every aspect from the Air. Anyone with 2 eyes can see this. Read the specs, do your homework. Watch every video... not just this guy's.

An excellent video that fulfills the title perfectly. Clear, concise and to the point. Thank you.
Thank you!
Agreed. One thing you did forget though was the difference in speed. Not a massive point but still... good video though 👍
I own both of them and I also own Mavic pro zoom an 2 too. And i say they all are great drones. But once my friend asked me" Which one of them you will sell first?" and I answered : The Air. If you had to choose between Mini and pro2 ?
I had all 3 also but found i didn't need the mini anymore, to me the quality of the air, all the sensors and its looks better than the mini so I sold my mini, have been very happy with my air and don't regret selling the mini, the mini felt very cheap and lite to me like a toy...the 30 minute flight time from the mini didn't make me want to keep it, the air is like flying a jet, the mini is like flying a Cesena..

What if the Air Fly More combo is on sale for just $699??
I think a second hand Mavic air fly more package would win hands down for any new user or seasoned pro, I recently compared a Used Mavic Pro, Used Mavic Air and new Mavic Mini 3 months ago as a second easy to carry drone for myself and I picked a used Mavic air fly more with less than 3 hours flying time and I am super impressed, the obstacle avoidance is a must for new users. great video as always
How about a mavic air compared to a spark?
A really useful comparison feature. I did wonder what the major differences are. This told me what I needed to know.
Thank you
Excellent comparison Kelly. I have both of these drones and completely agree with your comments. I really have enjoyed flying both of these.
Really enjoyed this video. Concise and extremely informative. I especially liked the proof of concept with the leaf blower to demonstrate its ability.
Since the new Mavic Air 2 is coming out this month, do you think the first Mavic Air model will be ruined with newer updates? I ask cause I want to buy the Mavic Air but I’m afraid of new updates ruining it so Idk if I should then get the mini
I HAVE A SAY SO! I would like to have the answer to that. Because you can get the original mavic air for 599.00 that is a great deal
Thanks Kelly the reason i never got the air was the noise but i did like it
I’ve been contemplating buying a drone for a few years. Been looking for a week and decided on a mavic mini however I thought what the heck I’ll check Varagesale quick. Mavic Air is still an excellent choice - very solid!
Mini has been the perfect travel drone for me! 👍
Mini is such a good dtone for the price!

I'll take the Mini over the Air, the Mini has better video quality. Great comparison video Kelly.
Thanks for watching!
and I'll take the Mavic Air 2
@@cameltoeinspector6015 I dont really think it was an option back then
Thanks for the brilliant video! Keep up the good work. I've been subscribed for a long time now! And I have not ever regretted it. I appreciate it.
Awesome, thank you!
Hey Kelly, a very nice comparison review of these two drones. Direct, well balanced, and a great comparison chart that can be passed along to the some looking for a new drone, thank you!
You can have the air at any given place for 599. Because of the air 2. That is a great deal.
Excellent review. Clear, honest and easy to watch.
I appreciate that!
for mostly photography which one to take? the RAW ability of Air worth the much higher price?
My mini has obstacle avoidance. It's called a human brain and if you use it right, surprisingly you won't run into anything!
But take me one now, but I'm confused. Which one, please help.Which would be better air or mini plz replay sir.i am cinematographer

Nice review. Bought both - have the Air but gave the mini to Jerry's Kids.
Mini 2 also has 4K but no obstacle avoidance
I like your video thanks for sharing 👌❤️👍
Thank you 🙏
The fact that the Mavic Mini is being compared to the Mavic Air which is nearly doubled its price says a lot!
Great video! 👍
Mavic air is very solid in high winds. Mini is a good starter Drone.
Agreed!
I know which is even before watching the video, the one that does NOT require a touch screen device to have full control. ( translation: neither, they both require a touch screen device to have full control )

The Mavic Air is the best Drone😁👍
Nice side by side. I love my air.
Great. Many thanks.
Always good stuff Kelly, thank you
Excellent video.
i thought mavic air has so many bugs and connectivity issues
Magic Air can shoot 4K 60 which is quite better than 4k30
i do like mavic air but i do like mavic mini, haha i like them both 😍
Nice Kelly
Mavic Air... 13.5 minutes with 25% reserve... Never ever not even once close to 21 minutes... Otherwise it is an awesome drone!
nice!
Awesome!
Speed? Mini 46km/h Air 68 km/h
2:32. Magic mini: weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
I meant 2:26 ._.
If you monetize your youtube you have to register and get a 107 in the US
You sound like you are biased too the Air for some reason. That's what I took away from this video. Mini is much worse in almost every aspect from the Air. Anyone with 2 eyes can see this. Read the specs, do your homework. Watch every video... not just this guy's.
You lost me at WIFI
Cant beat the mini unless you're pretty serious about it I love mine
Mavic airs wifi is shit get the mini
Great comparison Kelly!
