*Hands down, the BEST comparison video between the Mavic Pro and Mavic Air I've seen to date.* Awesome job and I loved the boxing references! Well done!! I'm anxiously awaiting my 'Flame Red' Mavic Air which I should have next Tuesday. Can't wait to get the puppy up in the air. Oh, only one 'small' mistake (or mis-spoken) at the end of the video. You said the pricing as of Feb. 20th...but you meant to say Feb. 2nd, 2018. Great job again!!
f you are thinking about buying a DJI Drone sometime soon, please use this link. Some of the purchase will go back to my channel so I can grow and provide everyone with even better content. Thank you so much. click.dji.com/AK8EF-V8FRaR9F2jN0VR?pm=link
I own Mavic Pro 2 years now. Done some great vids with it. Happy with googles. Now: 1. Flight time is important sure but 21 mins vs 27 mins is not a huge difference. 10vs25 is sure, but to make good shots you need 15 mins tops. Because this is why you bought it right? Unles you flying it for fun, but Pro with it's size and weight is not easy to control. Not as easy as Air. 2. Camera quality - Pro is slightly more sharper but colors are better on Air same as focus, gimbal is more stable and less fragile 3. You get 3 sets of sensors - I crashed my Mavic 3 times on the trees during intense shots and 3 of them where while I was flying backward 4. Distance - 4 km easy on Pro vs 2km on Air - but hey - believe me or not - never been flying more than 1,5 km during filming. For fun - yes I did set 7,5 km distance flight one way - I flew from my home to my friend. Never been so scared. 5. Controllers - Pro with screen , Air - without - fine Pro is better BUT to be honest - I always check battery level etc. on the phone not on the screen. You can fly Pro without connecting your phone? sure but so what if you can't see what you filming. you can do the same with Air + even better because it has gesture control. 5. I paid 2000 eur for Mavic and googles. I am selling it now for 1100 EUR 2 years later. Am I happy? yes because I just got Mavic Air and I can tell you straight away - it is better for non-professional filming and fun flying. 6. Pro - I will miss you, Air - long live the king :) ps. fantastic comparison and I agree 100%. ps. Googles are nice but you need to have nice area around you to use them. Flying low is very dangerous as you won't see cables or other small obstacles and Pro won't always detect them. They are heavy and chunky and you will get tired after top 20 min of using- I used them to watch movies - my neck was screaming to put them away after 1h... Anyways I recommend both drones, but my choice is now Air.
What about the connection? I've seen quite a few reviews describing the mavic air's connection as not so ideal, it seems to be rather erratic sometimes. Or do you have a workaround for it?
Aloysius Ooi never had any problems because of the style of flying. If you using it for a shots of the are where you are and as long as you can see it - then it’s all good. Obviously if you will fly far away or in the citi - it may be loosing connections or you will see some interruptions in signal and in transmission. But this is a sacrifice I did and I can live with it. Pro is way better in distance flying.
Great video, clear, informative, no crappy music, no over enthusiastic child, shouting and saying ‘awesome’ ‘rad’ and any other non sensical word, every 5th word, this is useful. I have the pro, its fine for me.
For some of us that value range, endurance and signal strength, the Mavic Pro Platinum is the clear winner. If you add a less cumbersome goggles experience, the choice is even easier to make. The Air has the size and price advantage but I'm pretty sure the Pro handles wind better and is quieter which offsets the Air's edge. My 2 cents.
I know the feeling of moving to a complete different city, that means leaving behind everything you know and everything you fought to survive for, it aint easy. But in the bright side welcome to LA my dude, you deserve a place and home for your family, you stuck to your roots and mission and life. That right there is a true inspiration of being a great human being. Wish you the best x
Dude... thank you so much for this video. I bought the Mavic Air and wanted to return it to get the Mavic Pro. After watching this video... I'm glad I got the Mavic Air. 👍
The mavic air is much superior to the PRO, it has more sensors, 4k recording with 100Mbps bitrate, greater camera viewing angle, higher speed, smaller size, more economical, more technology, slow motion at higher resolution, APAS systems, panoramic 32 megapixels, 2.7K video at 60 fps; Only the PRO is superior in time and distance.
Thanks for taking the time to thoroughly review both drones. I just purchased the Mavic Air today from B&H. I wanted to get the FlyMore Package but they're on backorder. I've been researching for a few months and the Air looks like a clear winner amongst a number of drones in this category. I plan to take it to Vietnam and Thailand this summer, so I'll be trying to get well acclimated before my trip. Thanks again.
you didn’t mention the fact that mavic pro and air have totally different gimbal design. it is true that the air’s gimbal is more robust, but the pro’s gimbal can have wider angle of pan movement(30 degrees on the pro vs 12 degrees of the air), and the pro’s gimbal can rotate 90 degrees to shoot in true portrait mode. Although i agree that the air’s gimbal is more robust in terms of design but it still could not sustain damage from impact and a crash may cause it to malfunction. Plus the pro’s gimbal is made of metal vs plastic on the air, metal looks better imo
@Desirous. You dont need to crash to damage your gimbal. Maybe a unlucky bird flying into ur drone or a hard landing. Or your neighbour letting out his eagle while you were flying your drone in your backyard and the neighbours eagle comes over and crash it (and himself) Silly goose
We really liked your presentation style, comparison points were pertinent, you spoke well, clearly and slow enough to take in the information. Well done!
This is the best example of what a review should be like! THANKS for being concise, to the point, and WELL organized! LOVED the review and find it SO healthful!
I am so happy with my Mavic Air. I think the takeaway point is that either of these drones can get you amazing footage. That's not where it ends though. A lot of the brilliance of a video comes from the editing room. Countless hours adjusting and splicing footage turns great shots into amazing videos. Thanks for sharing this, and keep up the good work. A lot of people benefit from the videos you make 💪
Probably one of the best comparison videos I've seen. Thank you for your time and diligence preparing this video. You made my choice clearer, and I learned a few cool things on top of it all. All the best!
You compare cameras but didn’t mention the aperture on the pro being larger, which has a large affect on shots where perfect sunlight is not available.
Hope this video gets the views in deserves. So well crafted and informative. So many Mavic Air videos out now but none have as much useful information as this video. Thank you.
Have to say im a bit of a dji addict, in order of ownership (not keeping any at the same time) has been P3 Standard > P4 > Mavic Pro > Spark > Mavic Pro Plat > Mavic Air and currently have no drone, I would go back to Mavic Pro Platinum in a heartbeat but want to wait and see if a new Mavic Pro is announced soon, I loved the AIR but its just too noisy in comparison to me and the follow me mode was too slow for what I wanted (18mph max)
Good Video. I was just considering my own choices. All the talk up of the Air but the video examples of the Pro look better. More detail, sharper, more contrast. I see this in other videos too. What good is a faster bitrate when the video is not as clear. Thanks for the demo. Seriously, pause the vid at 2:16 and 2:45. Just look at the image quality. Mavic Pro seems warmer, not as cool blue. Look at the trees. Mavic Air video they are blurred, and on the Mavic Pro trees, fence, rocks on the railways, utility wires look better. MP looks better, sharper more contrast all around. Maybe 100 Mb/s isn't all it's cracked up to be in this version. Longer flight time, sharper clearer video and pics AFAICT. Mavic Pro on the way.
Great video! I've seen a lot of video comparisons, but I like your straight-forward presentation the best. I've been wanting to get my first drone for a while and have been up in the air (pun intended) about which DJI model to get. This has helped me in my decision-making. Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences!
I have the Mavic Pro and its the best drone out there in my opinion. He showed the best feature on the Air compared to Mavic. But should have compared best features on Mavic to Airs Features..... Like for one..Stability in high winds and Mavic can get beat up by the natural elements and still perform like a PRO. but other than that... Great vid bro!! keep up the nice work.
Totally agree with your choice of winner. I have a Spark right now, which I love flying, but am saving up for a Mavic Air, which will be number four in my stable. Can't have too many drones.
Thank you so much for your current drone videos concerning the Mavic Air. You always mention good aspects, comparisons and present them absolutely authentically. The Mavic Air is going to be my really first drone. Thumbs up and greetings from Germany ✌🏼
Well done Kelly and I agree with you on all points, the mavic air is a fantastic machine. Only thing for me is the reduced flight time, but let's see. Also you could have mentioned the gimbal cover as this is a large improvement in daily handling
Drones and Electric Unicycles Here’s what Tech Radar had to say about that great gimbal after their review: “ Although gimbal control while panning sideways is smooth, moving the camera up and down is still a tad jerky. To keep the footage as smooth as possible, it’s best to switch to Cinematic Mode on the app - designed to slow the drone down and reduce braking so video is smoother - but even this takes a lot of practice before you get a steady capture.” Shoot in Cinematic Mode? No thanks I like to shoot at the speed I choose!
After 1 year and had owned both Mavic Pro and Air, my preference is the Pro. And now I had sold both and got the Mavic Pro 2. It knock out both the Pro and Air.
I was pretty happy with my Spark and got the MP1 for range and battery life but got tired of the tilted horizon on each rotation. The Air and MP2 don't have that right ?
Saw your vid! The drone really looks awesome in flight. I just have one question to ask you, from which distance you wasn't able to hear it anymore? The only thing that stops me from buying would be the noise it produces
@@readysetdrone Thanks for that info :). I guess the Anafi is better in my situation, I really don't want to scare any animals or so by flying in nature.
Does yours loose transmission signal after 700 feet hight or so? Kinda annoying, but cant compare it to pro because don't have a pro. Good drone none the less! And the wifi signal, when choosing a station, it always seems to show bad signal on the one I choose, I choose a good signal station and that goes bad 5 seconds after choosing, like musical chairs! The occusync interests me, wonder if it is much better?
I was actually pleasantly surprised of how loud the drone isn’t, really unless you are standing right next to it, I don’t feel like it’s that loud. Also you can buy quieter props if it’s something u are interested in
Paul Smith God bless you!!!! If I had your money I'd burn mine , by the way I own 6 quads in my opinion money well spent. But buying two (2) DJI products with that price tag and horrible customer service is in my opinion foolhardy. I, as U can tell, don't own a DJI product. Not that I can't afford 1 or 2 of their products but who wants a customer service snafu, it's not like you can go to the store manager settle a dispute be satisfied. From what I see and hear DJI leaves a lot to be desired so spending that amount of cash for 2 of DJI 's finest examples leaves a lot to be desired..... 19SkyPilot48 fly safe!!!!
Jay Peterson Yes I have now experienced the DJI customer service, or lack of, due to late shipment and lack of any decent tracking. I now have them both and for my money the Mavic Pro Platinum has my heart hands down, From the quality of the Ocusynt works well with the Goggles too, longer flight time and so so quiet compared to the Air. The Mavic Air is not small enough to make a significant difference when both the fly more sets are packed up, On paper the Air should win but for me the Pro. Loving the reviews I will hold off and check out your Mavic Pro 2 before I buy.
Paul Smith I firmly believe that the 3DR SOLO ( which I own) can perform or outperform DJI in all aspects. The only thing that DJI has is avoidance system, but the simple fact that paying attention to what you're doing renders that system only to those who don't seem to be attentive to the environment around them. This should be one of the rules followed by all pilots. 19SkyPilot48
Mavic air is the best deal for the average consumer in my opinion. Even for someone who flys a drone for the first time. All the technology it offers make you look like an experienced pilot. I still wonder if it can avoid obstacles and change route while in active track mode.
I'm pretty new to this and I have a DJI Spark without the remote control and a couple year old phone that I was using to control it. Unfortunately I keep on disconnecting from the drone when I'm flying, sending the drone into RTH and that didn't even work, one time sending the drone literally hovering over a river until I retrieved it and cut my fingers up... fun. I'm still very much intrigued by the hobby and got great results on the few flights that went well. I don't want to quit but I'm a bit put off and I have questions. 1. Should I go ahead and pay another $1000 for an air fly more with goggles and such? 2. Is the lack of controller my main issue for losing connection? 3. If I'm out in the middle of nowhere with no wifi will the air still work or do I need to go for the pro? and 4. Should I just get the controller for the spark and see if that works without losing connection? Thanks in advance for any advice!
The Mavic Pro is the more superior drone out of the two but the Mavic Air offers some very awesome features in such a small form factor. I can't wait to receive my Mavic Air and start making videos on it.
I think a Round 14 is missing, which is how well they fare against strong winds. I owned the Spark but after almost losing it in some strong winds, I opted for the Mavic Pro. The Spark couldn't hover steady when it was windy. Wondering if today's the case with the Air since it's much lighter than the Mavic. I think a very important comparison to make.
I would buy the AIR if it hadnt been for WiFi transmission. People flying it reported loosing video signal even at 1km. Ive had my Mavic Pro at 7Km. Its not recommended i know, but having a drone with that capability is just so awesome. I can fly to another island with the drone and explore hehe.
Not in my country. You can fly outside vision cause the drone is so small as long as you maximum follow 50 metres above ground tops. I think thats the norm elsewhere as well.
No the rules are not that simple. Its true for RO2 and RO3 but Mavic is RO1. And the rules are really not the same everywhere. Some countries have theyre very own rules.
I just recently bought the mavic pro in December and knew nothing about the mavic air, the price difference itself for what you get maybe would have leaned me towards the air, but I love the mavic pro and I don't regret purchasing it.
It wouldn't make sense to release a Mavic Pro 2 a few months after they release the Platinum. That would essentially cannibalize their own model as well as their Apple exclusive white Mavic.
Exactly what captain Cocoa Puffs said, it makes no sense to release it so soon after releasing the Platinum. Platinum sales would be dead and a waste to be marketing it.
The Mavic Pro is getting old, but with the current lineup and recent releases it would be absolutely stupid to release a new Mavic Pro replacement. And DJI is not stupid
As someone looking to purchase their first drone which one would you recommend. Price really isn't an issue for me. I like the small size of these for travel. I'm looking to take videos and picture. My concerns are which one is easier to fly? Obviously it will take practice..
Thanks for great review :) I will still stay with Mavic Pro (Platinum) - and not only because I've just bought it ;) But for me flying time and especially noise are two the most important factors. I have to say Mavic Air is suprisingly good, especially in this price range. But fortunatelly Pro is still better in some important aspects :)
The wheel on the mavic pro’s controller is for the shutter speed. As you increase the shutter speed time it brightens the image and as you lower it it darkens the image but more important than the brightness of the image is how long the shutter is open for. If it’s opened for too long (long shutter speed time & bright) it could cause shakey footage
Excellent comparison video! I had assumed the "Pro" would be the better machine, but after watching your video, I'm pretty sure the Air is the better machine for my needs. Like and sub for you today. Thanks for sharing
Why are people acting like 8GB of internal storage is important? Its not that much room, and large microSD cards are inexpensive. You can get a 64gb card for fifteen bucks, and heck just get three.
DumbDuck44 8 GB of storage may not be important to you but it’s important to a lot of people including myself, 8gb of storage may not be that great but you can also put a lot of pictures and do a few videos as well. 8gb of storage is better than no storage at all and certainly can saved the day if you forgot your SD card. Which I did before it human nature to forget something some of the time. So 8gb of storage is most welcome.
DumbDuck44 100% agree with Romeo. It’s not so much the AMOUNT of storage, but rather that there IS internal storage. There have been times that I have forgotten my SD card, traveled to some remote location and then was SOL because I couldn’t capture anything at all. That feeling SUCKS. No longer an issue with the Mavic Air.
I keep my mavic with the leg open until I put the card back in. That way I don't forget. Also if you use more than one, rotate a new one in when you take one out.
It's not just that you might forget the card, you might take the wrong card, it might be already full, or it might break, in any of those cases, which most people have experienced one of them at least once, the ability to still capture 15 minutes of 4K video is better than 0 minutes.
You made my mind up for me. My C card is coming out now and is getting used to buy a mavic air i'm more of a sporty flyer so the movability is high on my list plus nimbleness but then another day i can use it on my friends wedding or on my website builds for customers. I think we will always (for more intense expensive jobs) keep a phantom 4 or a typhoon but, This bird will be my everyday one i go to use to quote prices on my aerial jobs up with for sure! Thank You again for your video. Well done!
I will wait no question, but maybe there is another option.Autel Robotics' first portable drone the EVO.It has intelligent flight modes, obstacle avoidance, front, downward and rear sensors, 4k 60fps camera with 100 mbps bitrate on 3-axis gimbal, 30 min. flight time and 7km (4,2 mi) range.Evo's controller has a built in 3,3 inch HD screen. The price is around 1000 $ but that's just a rumor yet.Autel Robotics says the Evo's release date is "very soon".
I’m happy with my MPP. Quietness flight time, range and occusync are important to me. Gestures are a bit of a gimmick but I do like the fixed focus and higher bit rate of the Air. I’m sure if I fly my MPP for another 6 months I’ll be able to upgrade to a drone that will have the advantages of both and an even better camera
I sold mine too. Mavic air sucks it lost signal in a few distance very frustrating. Battery level drained so fast approx 15min! only good thing is the camera other then that nothing special
Hey guys I do have the mavic air also and not so happy the range sucks and the WiFi signal always have connection issues are you think is worth it to change to the pro and yes also the flight time is not that great on the air
Love my Mavic pro just needs rear sensors and it would be perfect that's the only thing I would change about it and I can't say that for the Mavic air or the spark Mavic pro is still the clear winner in my book thanks for a great video
At the moment, I am starting off with a simple sky rider Raven since I'm a begginner. I also use a tiny micro indoor drone that makes my cat go crazy haha! I am ONLY reviewing this video for FUTURE reference. These drones would be too much for me to handle for the time being Haha! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for all of the information. If you were in the back country, say you were paddling your canoe through a giant marsh and you wanted to send your drone off on a scouting mission, would the Pro be better? Can you fly the Pro out of line of sight?
On paper the air wins all day long. In actual use the pro platinum takes the cake. I have owned both and air and a pro platinum. The air controller has compatibility issues with some of the newest smartphones and you’ll have to update using an old device to get it to somewhat work with the newer ones. The air stability is terrible compared to the pro platinum. The platinum is very stable even at high altitudes. A little breeze will blow the air away. Don’t even get me started about the glitches with the air due to DJI updates. I was landing the drone after a shooting session over a lake. As I went to touch down the drone shot back up and into a tree did a few flips and flew out over the water under some overhang. I tried to navigate out but it was not taking any of my inputs correctly. It shot up into the tree and proceeded to fall into the lake. I jumped in the lake to get the drone. Keep in mind I was 5 feet from the drone when it malfunctioned. The enhanced WiFi of the air is absolute trash compared to OS tech on the pro line. If you don’t believe me there’s plenty of stories online of people having issues with this thing. Also this guy noted that the air comes with 8 gb of internal storage. He forgot to mention the pro comes with a 16 gb micro sd card which is better and more convenient for transferring photos / videos. I will say the air is faster, takes slightly (ever so slightly) better videos, has a more rugged gimbal and has some cool new features. Having said that be cautious when buying an air. It’s not all it’s cracked up to be. All of the features become overshadowed when the thing won’t operate properly.
IMHO a few of Air’s wins here are based on a bit of irrelevant criteria or forced in some ways. For instance speed, I would say that Air and Pro are pretty equal in that category. Air’s internal storage of 8GB is a win while the camera is capturing in 100MBbit? If Air has 32-64GB that would be something worth noticing. Size wise Air is the winner but it’s not like P4 vs Mavic Pro improvement, Mavic Pro is still compact enough to be carried equally often as Air. Air comes with some serious downsides like crippled range, significantly shorter flight time and quite honestly it looks like a toy and less durable compared to Pro. The only tangible improvement with the Air is 100MBit camera. I think though that Mavic Air is a great drone but not really comparable with the Pro.
Speed is one example of a fairly insignificant win for the Air, but are there really any other examples? I can think of 2 that went to the Pro's side, like marginally quieter prop noise and not needing a cable for DJI goggles. Far from being useless, onboard memory is huge, sooner or later most hobbyists are going to experience a forgotten, lost, full or damaged SD card, faced with the choice between getting 0 minutes of 4K footage and 15 minutes of it, no one is going to choose the former. As for 100Mbps, that's the maximum it can capture at, you would be unlikely to use all that bandwidth unless rapidly panning around complex changing scenery at max resolution and frame rate, while on the flip side, lots of people say that it's pointless shooting 4K on the Pro because it's too compressed for the high resolution to pay off. Regarding the size difference not being too important, you can carry an Air in a jacket pocket, plus the controller is smaller and the control sticks can be removed, never mind being smaller than the Pro, it's smaller than a Spark when folded up, and according to this video, is more responsive because of it. the range of the Air, far from being a serious downside, is not a downside at all for anyone following the line-of-sight rules found in most countries, it's going to be completely invisible at 500 metres, and doesn't suffer FPV drop outs until 4x times that distance. The Air looking like a toy is purely a matter of opinion, that it can do more things than the Pro, is a matter of fact. The Air looks more durable than the Pro, the gimbal is more protected, and the battery attachment has been improved from the Pro which people had issues with. All in all the Air is a better drone, and costs less. Seemingly the only people who attempt to suggest that the advantages of the Air are negligible while the disadvantages are significant, are some of the Pro owners who feel they have to justify the Pro, when really they don't.
gavsmith1980 Gesture control - I tried it once and never used it again, Flight modes - Pro has fixed wings mode + course lock which are more useful than all of Air’s flight modes combined. You are talking about theoretical range, but I know from experience that even with P4 and Pro I struggled to have a stable connection within 300m in certain cities like Singapore. The Air literally can’t hold video transmission if a powerful WiFi router is nearby. Yes, if you are flying in a deserted area Air will do, but in urban areas you’ll have problems within line-of-sight distance and quite honestly this is a deal breaker for me. If Air has ocusync I wold sacrifice flight time and go with the Air because of 100MBit camera.
I really think I’m just gonna get the mavic pro because it’s a perfect drone and when the next one comes out it’s just gonna be way more expensive and then another drone will come out so I gotta make a choice now instead of wasting my time researching what to get and the mavic pro is the original and first 1.
Liked your comparison. I have been getting ready to buy a Mavic Pro for a while, but now am considering a Mavic Air. My only problem I have is that my purpose for a drone is to take it hiking and possibly backpacking in the Catskills and Adirondacks, and want to get photos and videos of the mountains. The Air's compact size is great for that, but it's limited flight time works against my goals b/c I would like to fly it between 1.5 and two miles away to get shots of neighboring peaks to some of my favorite mountains, like Mt. Marcy (highest in NY). What, realistically, is the flying time for an Air and Pro in light to moderate winds? I'm not flying anything in winds above 15-20 MPH under ANY circumstances...
I'm new to the drone thing. I'm looking around for an easy drone to operate, but get great footage for Youtubing. The Air looks like a great choice for many reasons, especially being so compact, but prefer the in built screen of the Pro. My question is can you get an inbuilt screen handset for the Air? Do you think the Air will ever come out with the inbuilt screen
RGMG actually, i think he's saying Feb 2018, not Feb 20 18. 2018 being the year, not the 20th day and year.
Ah, you may be right.
Great review! Thank you.
f you are thinking about buying a DJI Drone sometime soon, please use this link. Some of the purchase will go back to my channel so I can grow and provide everyone with even better content. Thank you so much. click.dji.com/AK8EF-V8FRaR9F2jN0VR?pm=link
I was planning to buy the DJI Mavic Air but you should read this first: click.dji.com/AACrSKZsBgLDLL3YiwSkfQ?pm=link&as=0013
I own Mavic Pro 2 years now. Done some great vids with it. Happy with googles.
Now:
2. Camera quality - Pro is slightly more sharper but colors are better on Air same as focus, gimbal is more stable and less fragile
3. You get 3 sets of sensors - I crashed my Mavic 3 times on the trees during intense shots and 3 of them where while I was flying backward
6. Pro - I will miss you, Air - long live the king :)
ps. fantastic comparison and I agree 100%.
"never been so scared" haha
What about the connection? I've seen quite a few reviews describing the mavic air's connection as not so ideal, it seems to be rather erratic sometimes. Or do you have a workaround for it?
@@a-train1307 enhanced wifi sucks
Aloysius Ooi never had any problems because of the style of flying. If you using it for a shots of the are where you are and as long as you can see it - then it’s all good.
Obviously if you will fly far away or in the citi - it may be loosing connections or you will see some interruptions in signal and in transmission. But this is a sacrifice I did and I can live with it. Pro is way better in distance flying.
I'LL NEVER GO BK TO WI-FI!
NOT ANY THAT'S OUT AT THE MOMENT. MAVIC PRO FOR ME.. RELIABILITY IS THE MAIN SALE FOR ME AND MY INVESTMENTS😎
Great video, clear, informative, no crappy music, no over enthusiastic child, shouting and saying ‘awesome’ ‘rad’ and any other non sensical word, every 5th word, this is useful.
I have the pro, its fine for me.
If I already owned a Pro, I wouldn't bother buying the Air.
If I owned neither, I'd definitely buy the Air.
wait for mavic pro 2. Its coming in 7 weeks
are you sure about that ?
Check OsitaLV on twitter, se predicted the mavic air before release. I think she works on dji. MAvic pro 2 is coming at the end of march
And it's probably going to cost well over twice as much as the Air and still won't be smaller than it.
Fortunately it's not just wifi.
The winner of this video is dji
Gilberto Alvarez lol good try
all is DJI

I see what you did there boiiii 😂😂😂😂 you crack me
For some of us that value range, endurance and signal strength, the Mavic Pro Platinum is the clear winner.
Then don’t crash it you silly goose
@Desirous. You dont need to crash to damage your gimbal. Maybe a unlucky bird flying into ur drone or a hard landing. Or your neighbour letting out his eagle while you were flying your drone in your backyard and the neighbours eagle comes over and crash it (and himself)
Silly goose
@@malo6748 Bit much yeah?
Silly Goose.

Hi there. I bought the pro yesterday and I very pleased with it. Enjoyed your video.
*expert* *question* :
is'nt mavic pro preform better in slight winds also high altitude and distance ?
SAM GH the air has newer ai and better control
We really liked your presentation style, comparison points were pertinent, you spoke well, clearly and slow enough to take in the information. Well done!
Thanks!
Just got the Mavair and it truly is the next generation drone much better quality in every department, some great points raised 👌🏽
This is the best example of what a review should be like! THANKS for being concise, to the point, and WELL organized!
LOVED the review and find it SO healthful!
This really helped me for when I can afford a drone down the road. I feel a lot more informed about both drones
A lot of people benefit from the videos you make 💪
Thanks!
The pro when looking at the two flags looked sharper even some of the items in the background looked sharper
You don't need larger aperture. We fly during daytime, we still need need ND filters
As always you provide a fair analysis of your topic with no slop in between. Great Job!
Thanks Paul!
Your clock has two sixes!
I think the second one is called "nine"
except that they are both of the same orientation. I could assume the second one is meant to be a 9, but it sure looks like a six.
If a 6 was a 9 Mmmmmmm Jimi Hendrix song.
Rollux2 hahahahahahahahaha
Gianmarco Romano Then that would make you an idiot my friend 😂
I have a mavic pro, spark, Enterprise dual thermal, and may buy a mini soon. Besides geofencing, dJI is pretty good.
Hope this video gets the views in deserves. So well crafted and informative. So many Mavic Air videos out now but none have as much useful information as this video. Thank you.
Bikes & Drones I second this^
Me too. Awesome vid. I am in the market for a drone and this video helped me decide...the air it is.
And that’s facts!
Thanks!
Totally agree with your choice of winner. I have a Spark right now, which I love flying, but am saving up for a Mavic Air, which will be number four in my stable. Can't have too many drones.
Mavic pro is for the more experienced pilot and the Mavic air is for the beginner pilot. Both great drones
The range on the air is pants.
Distant and flight time are my major concerns so magic pro!!!!
You dont even know the name lol
I just got my air today . I got it after seeing your videos. Nice review thank you.
Thanks for the video. I have been wanting to buy a drone, now I know to go with Mavic Air
Video just went up today of my first mavic air flight. Absolutely love this drone. Thanks for the video.
Saw your vid! The drone really looks awesome in flight. I just have one question to ask you, from which distance you wasn't able to hear it anymore? The only thing that stops me from buying would be the noise it produces
Mavic Air is pretty loud. It has to be several hundred feet away before you can't hear it any more.
Also you can buy quieter props if it’s something u are interested in
I think your review was spot on, really depends on what you want from a drone. I could not decide so ordered both.
Awesome review. I bought a Mavic Air the other day and couldn't be happier. Greetings from a fellow Texan!
Mavic air is the best deal for the average consumer in my opinion. Even for someone who flys a drone for the first time. All the technology it offers make you look like an experienced pilot. I still wonder if it can avoid obstacles and change route while in active track mode.
TheGreekGeeks yes it can avoid objects wile doing active track.
Romeo Fowler then it is perfect for Bikers!!!
I totally agree!!!
check "The Everyday Dad" video on youtube, he s cycling between trees with the mavic air tracking him :)
TheGreekGeeks etc al xml
Yes it is! The best comparison video between the two DJI quads!
Looking for best flight rang, best flight time and less noise?
go for Mavic Pro Platinum.
Looking for smaller size and more sensors?
go for Mavic Air.
Air also has better camera
Great Review! Thanks for taking the time to put this together!
Best comparison video i have seen yet regarding these two Drones!
I actually Sold my Phantom 4 for the Mavic Air, And i couldnt be happier with that descision 👍🏻
What you like better?
Thanks watched your vid and decided to get the Mavic Pro.
How did you like it?
You are flying illegal if its not VLOS.
Not in my country. You can fly outside vision cause the drone is so small as long as you maximum follow 50 metres above ground tops. I think thats the norm elsewhere as well.
No its not normal. The rules are the same everywhere. If you can't keep it in sight then you are illegal.
No the rules are not that simple. Its true for RO2 and RO3 but Mavic is RO1. And the rules are really not the same everywhere. Some countries have theyre very own rules.
Send me the rules for your country. They will be the same.
I just recently bought the mavic pro in December and knew nothing about the mavic air, the price difference itself for what you get maybe would have leaned me towards the air, but I love the mavic pro and I don't regret purchasing it.
Word on the street is, Mavic Pro 2 will be coming out within the next several months... we shall see!
please define "word on the street" haha
It wouldn't make sense to release a Mavic Pro 2 a few months after they release the Platinum. That would essentially cannibalize their own model as well as their Apple exclusive white Mavic.
Exactly what captain Cocoa Puffs said, it makes no sense to release it so soon after releasing the Platinum. Platinum sales would be dead and a waste to be marketing it.
Check OsitaLV on twitter, se predicted the mavic air before release. I think she works on dji. MAvic pro 2 is coming at the end of march
The Mavic Pro is getting old, but with the current lineup and recent releases it would be absolutely stupid to release a new Mavic Pro replacement. And DJI is not stupid
Great review and nice to see a reviewer not afraid to have a winner between the two.
Happy to have an Air, just bought it.
How was is that ?
fixed wing mode came to an update on the air, ALSO, the plug for the VR has less lantancy. Its better tbh.
Im.leaning towards the mavic air..
I know range isnt as good as the pro ,, but have heard its still pretty good?
Great review
As someone looking to purchase their first drone which one would you recommend. Price really isn't an issue for me. I like the small size of these for travel. I'm looking to take videos and picture. My concerns are which one is easier to fly? Obviously it will take practice..
Thanks for great review :)
I will still stay with Mavic Pro (Platinum) - and not only because I've just bought it ;) But for me flying time and especially noise are two the most important factors.
I still buy the pro even its old i like the range of mavic pro
I will buy this gentleman a beer. What a great comparison video without all the confusing gimmicks.
Excellent comparison video! I had assumed the "Pro" would be the better machine, but after watching your video, I'm pretty sure the Air is the better machine for my needs. Like and sub for you today. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the comment!
Which one has better build quality?
Buy whichever you like and can afford. i'll just keep my Mavic Pro Platinum
this is a great little video. well put together
waahhhh nice review! Finally I bought Mavic Air because of this video! That's awesome!!!
Thanks!
Ready Set Drone thank's for the review!
Best intro I've seen is a LONG time! Awesome review!
Tom Wetherald Good for you, the fact still remains though that people forget sometimes so the 8gb of storage is most welcome in the mavic air.
Well done!
Very well put together, good job Kelly :)
Is the pro portable enough to fit in a hiking backpack? I'd like something i can take on my hikes, preferably with a follow function as well.
thanks, great review, bought the Mavic Air and love it. Cant get the thing to fly indoors though!
You got it all!! Would you please put a link to cable needed to connect the Racing Edition Goggles to work with Mavic Air. Thanks
Very good comparison, but I still can't decide.I think I should wait for the Mavic Pro 2.
Danm I was set on the air but then I read the comments now I'm undecided again lol
Wait
Everything I cared about the Mavic Air won and the Mavic Pro didn’t get anything I cared that much about
Exactly
I love your approach to comparing the two drones. Just what I was looking for. Thanks.
just sold my Mavic Air and bought used Mavic Pro Platinum.
Saron Cheav which one you think is better ?
imed Platinum all day every day 👍.
Bullshit, been using mine for 3 years, not one of these problems you speak of, and it's awesome to fly. Plus I got em all so it don't matter.
Simply the best comparison in the world.Cant get better
Thanks, you have made my mind up, Mavic Air it is. 👍
Anthony Watkins jolly good choice sir
Love my Mavic pro just needs rear sensors and it would be perfect that's the only thing I would change about it and I can't say that for the Mavic air or the spark Mavic pro is still the clear winner in my book thanks for a great video
Spectacular video too too good...subd keep it up by far the best review out there
Only two words would be enough to sum it up - simple & precise . Thank u .
1:07 The mavic air comes like “hi. im smol”
Mavic air is great for travel.
What's the practical range of the enhanced wifi? Would the mavic air come back properly if it loses connection?
Awesome comparison! Thank you!
danzbeard 7
What about for just going straight up? Which would fly highest?
Mavic Pro DOES let you record without an SD card. So both have the same feature.
That is the updated Mavic Pro 2 …. the original did not.
Such very comprehensive and many informative reviews are always highly appreciated.
Thanks for your hard work and share.
AWESOME INFO THANK YOU GETTING THE AIR TODAY!!!
Awesome!
Beli dong jng nanya mele
You cant use dji goggle where i live , law requires you to have one eye on drone at all times.
You can use them if you have someone with you. A scout
I'm new to the drone thing. I'm looking around for an easy drone to operate, but get great footage for Youtubing. The Air looks like a great choice for many reasons, especially being so compact, but prefer the in built screen of the Pro. My question is can you get an inbuilt screen handset for the Air? Do you think the Air will ever come out with the inbuilt screen
hey ty so much for more info to drone :))
