Had my DJI mini for over a year now, and I couldn’t be happier with it. I’m very impressed with the quality and it does everything the manufacturer said it would. Just an excellent product! Very good review of a very nice little drone 👍🏼
A long time ago I was researching this drone because I wanted to buy it, and this video convinced me. The most complete I have seen so far! Thank you very much for your work! 🙏🏻
I bought one last week. Very portable and easy to deploy. Flight time is very good and the camera is great. Smooth clear video and pictures. I didn't need 4K anyway. Gimal stays level even during rapid manuvering. Battery life is great. I love this little drone!
Really Helpful & Informative. I was doubtful at first before checking out my order. Now after watching this, I'm really buying Mavic Mini now as my first ever drone. Thanks a lot! SUBSCRIBED and LIKED. God bless and more power!
I’ve watched like 20 videos of different comparisons and by far yours is the most comprehensive. I want to thank you so much for being so thorough. Truly appreciate it my friend. Have an awesome day and will definitely be watching more of your videos.
Multiple times during this review I found myself nodding in approval to the way you do things. For example, not telling us which footage was which until after we saw them, then showing them in a grid together. I appreciated that method. Also, the hover test to be more consistent with your results as opposed to trying to simulate the same flight path with all of them. You’ve gained a subscriber.
Great review....told me everything I needed to know. I ended up with the Parrot Anafi. But I may also get the Mini sometime in the future. I just love all the extras I get with the Anafi, follow me, flight plans, 180 degree camera, 4K, 25 minutes of fly time, no "no fly zones" to deal with, easy USB C charging (awesome), but most of all the best feature is it's got to be the quietest drone in it's class.
Great presentation and public speaking! You are the first TH-cam analyst who could speak fast, hit all points that you promised, and are knowledgeable about the drones you presented. I’m just about to purchase my 1st drone, and I’m getting the DJI Magic Mini, based on your video.Thank you!
I think another user for this drone is the hiker, mountain biker, cyclists, motorcyclists, etc who want to have a good quality, but very compact drone to take on their rides and adventures. It's appreciably smaller and lighter than my Autel EVO. That's why I'll be getting one. Thanks for all the detailed information.
Could you imagine being a rock climber and having this with you to take videos of your climb??? !!!!! Picture you on the side of a mountain able to get pictures from on high.... super cool.
Thinking about doing some drone video, so I’ve started to research entry level drones. You put out a really good informational video helped a lot!! Thanks for a great video!
I bought a Mini about a month ago. I recently shot some flood waters in Lower Alabama at numerous locations. I was blown away with what this little drone can do. I love mine.

Hey Aldryn, excellent first look at the DJI Mavic Mini. This drone will be a hit for the upcoming holidays for a starter drone or for those looking for an ultra-small travel drone. I think DJI nailed it for pricing, especially with the combo pack, affordable for young and old alike. As always, Aldryn, excellent first look review, I figured you had your hands on this Drone with an NDA, LOL! I’ll be watching for your upcoming video reviews on this new mini drone, take care!
this is absolutely perfect me. Started out with the wingsland s6. Loved flying it and taking photos. Only complaint was the flight time/ speed. This drone looks to be a big step up for not too bad of a price
This drone has one purpose. To get new drone buyers to buy it and immediately want another, more expensive drone with more features and a better camera. Well played, DJI marketing department, well played.
I agree! Lol! But I'm not mad at them. I would much rather see people spend their hard earn money on a system like this vs dropping over $100 on a Drone from one of those gypsy kiosks in the mall. I swear it always seems when flying, I have people come up to me to tell me they also own a drone in which they bought from the mall or got from a facebook ad etc. Lol! When they all see that whichever drone I'm flying will just sit there and hover-it blows their minds. Lol! So I too applaud DJI for working on ways to make the "DJI" name Affordable for all classes.
I already have the mavic zoom but this is going to be my new recommendation for beginners! I think it would make a great birthday present for someone who is just getting into it
Such a valuable review! I am considering to buy the Mavic Mini and your review helped me a lot. Thank you very much. I haven't seen your channel before, here is a sub. Keep up with the great stuff :)
Dude, I'm a new subscriber. I have watched a couple of videos. You are the pilot I am learning off you. Thank you very much sir ! ! Hope you keep your great channel running many years and much success for long long time ! Thanks again.
I will be buying one very soon. For $700 CAN, you could probably easily make that investment back in a week doing aerial video and photography for real estate. I've been working with real estate guys doing video for them for the past several months, and this thing will definitely allow me to offer more value to my clients. Starting around $200 for a drone shoot, you could recoup your investment in a weekend. Can't wait to get one and start flying! Thanks for the awesome video my dude. God Bless 😎
I heard from someone that it is not legal using drone for commercial purpose without licence even under 250g drone. Do you think those real estate purpose video will be ok?
Having never flew a drone, I found this very informative because I am interested in buying one and I have a limited budget. I have built 2 drone frames for my son which were successful in carrying his Go Pro and he has joined his college's drone club where they have 4 DJI Pros the students can borrow. I am just in awe of the videos that come from these devices. This would be a good shared purchase with my sons to create some great videos. Thank you so much for posting this!!
Fantastic video review! This is perhaps the best I have seen so far, comparing the Mini with not only the Spark and Air, but also the larger Mavic Pro and Mavic 2. I am glad I clicked on this one!
Hey fly path! I super need your help and advice I have a mavic pro, I love the 4K and the results! But My only concern (my biggest concern actually) is just how much space it consumes on my backpack. I don’t know if I should trade my mavic pro for the mini? I’ll be traveling a lot next year, so I know efficiency will be key
Thanks for sharing your knowledge, man! this video was thorough. Really like the easy to watch format and straight to the point. Audio was clear and leveled always, graphics were simple and clear slight change in the lighting but no biggie. So many youtubers just don't pay this attention to detail.
If you add the decals and graphics, is there a possibility that you will add 2 more grams of weight and then you will have to register the drone? Have nit, will pic. Seriously, this drone looks like a blast to have. bf
@@crackedcandy7958 i dont think it has to be registered because im pretty sure it only counts the drone itself has to be under 250 but when you attach propquards or stickers it doesnt change anything even though it might be 3 grams heavier
Lack of obstacle avoidance is an issue for a beginner. I was semi-experienced when I bought my Air, and the avoidance sensors have saved me at least twice.
What's there to know, the Mavic Mini is fantastic for the price. I can't even get my Phantom 4 that I paid over $1800 with all the accessories to fly further than the Mavic Mini.
We bought the Mavic Mini for our son to support his university film studies program. This video was a great help to learn more about the features and functions. Thanks a ton! This is a fantastic little drone.
No follow me mode, and no avoidance sensors makes it a no go for me . I realize they have to make some sacrifices somewhere for the lower price and keeping it under 250 grams ... but I’d rather have a shorter flight time (smaller batteries) then not having the sensors etc . You can always buy extra batteries to increase flight times . You really don’t need 30 min continuous flight for most applications. I rarely fly my Mavic longer then 10 minutes to get some nice video footage or some pics . It wouldn’t be a big deal to have to land and swap batteries for more fly time .
That was exactly my thought ... but if you think about it it's clear why they did that. One thing is the weight as you mentioned and this is a very critical point nowadays because there are limitations for drone (I still prefer Multicopter) flyin' almost everywhere around the world. Another reason is the price, of course, they wanted something for beginners so it has to be lightweight (to avoid most legal issues) and cheap. But it also has to compete against a ton of cheap toys that are marketed with tons of nonsense features that are very attractive to beginners for some reason ;-) 399 bucks is still a high price but today I think most beginners who are really interested in drones know DJI and will definetely go for it if the price is attractive enough. I think 200-250 would be better in that case but since it's brand new we might see the price drop a bit after some moths. There's also another problem DJI woule run into if they had added more sensores and features - all their other drones! Yes exactly, why would you buy a Spark or the Mavic Air for 500-800 bucks if the Mini can do all the things for just 399? I wouldn't. So they had to cut things here and there, best example is the App (features), with the Spark you have all the features but lower res, if you want higher resolution you have to upgrade to the Air which is the next higher price category (makes sense for an UPgrade). If you don't need the app features you can get the Mini but you'll still loose sensors so it's a step downwards in any case but therfor it's cheaper. So I think the MM sould not sit between Spark and Air, that's not the truth in my opinion, it should sit befor or "on" the Spark because that's more what it is, kind of a replacement entry level drone for the Spark. It makes sense because now the "Mavic" line is more complete than ever and with the Spark leaving there's only the Ryze Tello which doesn't fit but this is not a "real" DJI drone and marketed quite different so I think we can get away with that ... :-)
I think alot of consumers / potential consumers get caught up in the hype of premium specs.. Nice to say I have 4k / all the gear no idea type situation.. It boils down to are you a professional film maker / cameraman Do you have the equipment and ability to compress down scale edit 4k and if you do do you really need that level of quality... For most it is like professional and SLR cameras replaced by decent quality point and shoots to now most people using their cellphones.. Practical easy of use and easy to carry around with adequate quality... For the average Joe soap out there that wants to carry around a flying camera to capture great memories, scenery from holidays and trips from a different angle and have some fun flying a little drone around this thing will do more than enough and more.. Ease of use Decent (most people don't watch higher resolution than this) quality video and photo quality and 25-30min flight time (you may not need that much time but you don't have to worry about it losing power in the middle of nowhere).. Take your card out and play it directly on your laptop TV or phone.. That's what this is.... I think it is way more than a toy.... 4km distance with 2.7k video footage is hardly a toy.. Great job DJI.. A product that actually makes sense for the masses that aren't worried about who has got the biggest.. But worries about practical daily application
The video from the phone is enough to see what is going on but does not have the bitrate to be any kind of actual quality video. I also notice the screen has a little bit of delay making tighter flights harder to do.
Awesome video! I’m new to the hobby and just learning the basics. Your videos have really made me become comfortable with the mini. I appreciate the effort you put into your work thanks!
I got my order December 2019, It was defective, I could not fly it. It sent for repair then I got it back to n mid February but no time to fly it untill now. I’m busy with other things more priorities.
I know that this is going to sound like a rather trite question. Actually I have 2 questions. The first being this. What reasonably priced tablet is compatible with the Mavic Mini drone. I DO NOT want to buy another mobile phone for the sole purpose of flying this drone. I am considering purchasing a mac mini 4 or 5 or a refurbished mac pro as I can use the tablet to run Procreate and to perform other tasks that I cannot perform on a mobile phone. That all having been stated, should I opt to buy a tablet that has WIFI only or should I opt for a tablet that also offers cellular. My carrier who is NOT the best is Metro PCS. Furthermore if I were to purchase a tablet with the WIFI and cellular option would I incur charges with my carrier if I use the tablet to fly the Mavic Mini. I greatly appreciate your knowledge and expertise. Your videos are A-1 and I am now a subscriber. Can you suggest tablets that are compatible with the Mavic Mini. I presently own an LG K40 Android phone running Android 9. I don't see my phone listed in the list of compatible devices. I am unsure as to whether my current Android phone would be compatible with the Mavic Mini running the DJI software which requires 64 bit architecture. Thanks in advance for any information you can provide. I will try to keep comments and questions more succinct. Cheers.
I was very tempted but no raw format option is a disappointment, and you mention no active tracking, I was to use this for my cycle rides, but if it cant follow me then I don't see how I can use this. Pity
I may be wrong, but that is something that might become available in a future firmware or software update? I think it would be at least possible for them to add that feature
Hopefully we will see the comparison between all the DJIs soon, as far as part 107 certificate please let us know about the online courses you took, I will welcome to have your suggestions and advises.
Kemmy Buchoon I’ve been wanting a cinematic drone for a while and I can’t justify spending £1000+ for something I’m only going to use every now and again other than for fun, saw the price of this and decided rather than just going buying it I’m saving up a little each month and a little more for a nice little trip once I’ve purchased it... I could just go and get it then save up but I feel I’d enjoy it more if I saved and saved for a trip 🤣
Promising little drone for beginners and for those who simply want a 2nd affordable drone. As for me, I still have the Mavic 2 and the Spark, so I don't see a need to make my wife upset 😂. But seriously, the Spark footage comparison in your video looked better than the Mini. Unless someone is willing to buy my Spark with all the bells and whistles I've added, maybe I'll consider it. One question I do have is, does it sound like an angry bee?
Spark seems to have more color, while the mavic mini's image seems to be more flat. Really want a mini though. Hopefully they do some sort of small black friday sale like last year.
After watching many, many DJI drone videos, this video, by far, the most professional, totally informative on every aspect of this drone. I also have the mavic pro. I will look for all your videos, so precise, and professional right to the point concerning all features... Sincerely, Thank you.
If you’re looking for a good drone with a good camera at an affordable price then go with the mavic mini, if you’re willing to spend a little more I would definitely recommend the mavic pro. I’ve had it for a couple years now and I’ve loved it ever since I got it
Me too bro...i always wanted to get one since childhood...and now that i have found one which is affordable (mavic mini).....now i have doubts whether to get it or not cos people say most drones gets crashed and destroyed completely with lil bit of carelessness....so im confused whether to get it or not
another perfect review, I owned already Mavic 2, but this mini version as little bro of my Mavic 2 would be great for advance xmas presents ... hmmm, anyway thanks for another amazing video review. 👀👌👏
Your content is great. I love all of the shots in the field mixed in. Super knowledgeable and well organized info. Thanks for making this video, very helpful!
@@gosman949 It's like you need a very basic car to learn how to drive, not a new generation Mitsubitshi with forward collision mitigation, so does the airplane pilot that always use a basic trainer aircraft to begin, not a Jumbo 747 with auto pilot. Beginner drone pilot need to understand about a lot of the drone mechanism manually, including flight characteristic and the physics, without any basic knowledge, even obstacle avoidance wont save the drone from the crash. Moreover, mavic mini is a lot smaller, cheaper, and the weight make it almost indestructible with protective propeller guard installed.
Decided to get the drone just after release, after watching your great videos. Haven’t regret it for a second. I’ve flown several DJI products before, but sold them all off due to too much of travelling and too little spare time. Although I believe one GREAT reason for buying this drone, as for me, is the possibility to literally bring it anywhere with you. Made me take my hobby up again!
I'm in Japan and unfortunately the 250g rule doesn't apply, but I'm asking Santa for one this year ;) hehe. Can't wait to make some awesome motorcycle videos with it. Do you think I could use the Dronie mode to take videos of myself riding if I rode my bike really slowly?
It can be done but battery life will be a lot less and it’s not great for the batteries. I’m in the same climate and have flown in winter several times.

I want to do range test that’s why I need flight time
Finaly best review which covers all my questions. Do u have a video which shows how the video looks like on your smartphone while u drone in air?
The video from the phone is enough to see what is going on but does not have the bitrate to be any kind of actual quality video. I also notice the screen has a little bit of delay making tighter flights harder to do.
it's a flying camera, so I wish you talked more about the camera settings for photos and videos.
More detailed videos coming.
This is a really good video! Lots of info, no waffle!! Liked and subbed!
Awesome video! I’m new to the hobby and just learning the basics. Your videos have really made me become comfortable with the mini. I appreciate the effort you put into your work thanks!
Does the app use geo fencing or are you on an honor system as far as no fly zones?
Still has Geo
I just ordered the Mini Combo, I clicked from your link, I hope that helped you also. Wish you good luck.
👊🏼
Albert Munar Are you still using it? What are your thoughts 5 months later?
Cheers.
Roger St martin How does the tablet mount up with the controller and is the cord long enough?
Awesome video, well presented. Like your style. Good solid unbiased comparison and information. :)
This was useful to watch. I think I’ll be getting one
Jefferson Norton I agree it sounds like a SW modification but why didn't they install this from the start. I can't see it would impact size or weight
Great, now i don't know whether to get a Hero 8 or Mavic Mini. Honestly, they cost about.... the same - And that's insane.
Like wise 😂
Hopefully we will see the comparison between all the DJIs soon, as far as part 107 certificate please let us know about the online courses you took, I will welcome to have your suggestions and advises.
This video was so useful, I've been looking at buying my first drone for an upcoming trip and you've totally sold it to me, thank you!
Glad it helped
You deserve a BIG bonus from DJI, thanks to your comments and great videos I purchased Spark, Mavic Air and Mavic Mini, keep going
This is the perfect drone for me to start with. I've been lookin to buy one for my self a couple of days now.
Can this drone be use with VR glasses?
Kemmy Buchoon I’ve been wanting a cinematic drone for a while and I can’t justify spending £1000+ for something I’m only going to use every now and again other than for fun, saw the price of this and decided rather than just going buying it I’m saving up a little each month and a little more for a nice little trip once I’ve purchased it... I could just go and get it then save up but I feel I’d enjoy it more if I saved and saved for a trip 🤣
I've also been wondering about the VR too. I own Oculus quest and it'd be sick to use that with a drone! Anybody know?
Kemmy Buchoon no it cannot he used with a VR headset. It’s very disappointing
Clifton Stickler yep you can’t use one :(
Was that with the fpv headset dji makes?cuz that is supossed to work with it or so says the dji web and bestbuy here
Promising little drone for beginners and for those who simply want a 2nd affordable drone.
Spark records 1080p 24mbps in a 2 axis gimbal. Mavic Mini records 2.7K 40mbps in a 3 axis gimbal.
Spark seems to have more color, while the mavic mini's image seems to be more flat. Really want a mini though. Hopefully they do some sort of small black friday sale like last year.
What kinda sale did they have last year?
New drones typically won’t go on sale so soon after a release sorry.
You can always color grade better if the image is flat!
Yeah what sale did they do last year?
Fishme7 correction, the had a Christmas sale where the spark went down to 300 with controller and sd card.
After watching many, many DJI drone videos, this video, by far, the most professional, totally informative on every aspect of this drone. I also have the mavic pro. I will look for all your videos, so precise, and professional right to the point concerning all features... Sincerely, Thank you.
Thanks Bryan means a lot
Aldryn, awesome video. Very informative and wonderfully created. Thank you!
I feel like the spark has better video quality from the test :( Cna you use lutz with the mavik mini?
Agree. Spark is the winner on the test, and Mini showed the worst result
Never had a Drone, I wonder if I should get this 🤔
You should!
If you’re looking for a good drone with a good camera at an affordable price then go with the mavic mini, if you’re willing to spend a little more I would definitely recommend the mavic pro.
I’ve had it for a couple years now and I’ve loved it ever since I got it
Me too bro...i always wanted to get one since childhood...and now that i have found one which is affordable (mavic mini).....now i have doubts whether to get it or not cos people say most drones gets crashed and destroyed completely with lil bit of carelessness....so im confused whether to get it or not
Vishal Alby same here
Fruit Man not 4k just 2.7k
another perfect review, I owned already Mavic 2, but this mini version as little bro of my Mavic 2 would be great for advance xmas presents ... hmmm, anyway thanks for another amazing video review. 👀👌👏

Your content is great. I love all of the shots in the field mixed in. Super knowledgeable and well organized info. Thanks for making this video, very helpful!
Thanks so much gravity
😎AWESOME! Great Video! I'm thinking of adding one of these to my channel camera setups and looks great! Thanks for putting this together!
Mavic mini: 249 grams
*Adds propellor guards* Now it’s 250.01 grams
FBI OPEN UP
Guards are for an interior use, right?
Vojtěch Kment nah it’s just a joke i used to use guards on my inspire 2
WakinTheDeadFan So you don’t hit a wall and brake the propeller
Stole the joke
Ben Sheegog i actually made it up lol
I didn’t steal the joke
Can it be used with goggles or synced with a phone?
So you still recommend this for beginners even though it doesn't have any of the smart obstacle avoidance controls?
Absolutely.
You should never buy a smart obstacke avoidance drone as your first drone.
@@hop6649 please explain?
Made me take my hobby up again!
only started watching your videos as I'm planning to get my first drone. LOVE your video production quality! more power!
Do low light review of mini we are waiting
can you record what the camera is seeing to your phone or does it only go to the micro sd card?
I'm in Japan and unfortunately the 250g rule doesn't apply, but I'm asking Santa for one this year ;) hehe. Can't wait to make some awesome motorcycle videos with it. Do you think I could use the Dronie mode to take videos of myself riding if I rode my bike really slowly?
Get the more expensive one, then you will be good
Watched the video......ordering one now. Great video!!
This is the review that I’ve been looking for. Thank you
Would love to get this but NO Active track is a deal breaker!
someone said this could be in a firmware update when i googled this
I think they will most likely add this as it does have features similar to that in the quickshot modes.
But it has no obstacle avoidance system
Noah W then dont fly it towards trees
Spoil brat. People are making it accessible to you, you only need to learn to do it the hard way
I’m going in Lappland in march, do you thinks it’s possible to fly with the cold weather ? Thanks
Where I live, the winter is usually -15 to -25 Celcius. Would that be a problem?
It can be done but battery life will be a lot less and it’s not great for the batteries. I’m in the same climate and have flown in winter several times.
I’m debating getting one of these to make surfing edits, would this drone be able to take a 15-20 mph wind gust pretty well
Chelf it’s rated at 19mph on the website. 15-20 is pushing it. literally
best review of mavic mini so far. Help me so much, thankyou.
