I think I've watched every Elizabeth Taylor interview available on TH-cam..I just love hearing her perspective about life and her many experiences. What an insightful, dynamic and genuine soul she is.
The best part is that enough time has past so the scandals aren't a focal point about her any longer. So today we can look back on her life in a more positive way. Her AIDS activism is a big part of that transition. 🎉
Love this interview from 1976, I can hear her speak all day. She has such a pristine, elegant, regal, renaissance yet childlike playful tone in her voice. Her transparency and personality is beyond extraordinary. Love that is talking to the director George Stevens son, whom she made two of her iconic legendary films with. Giant and A Place in the Sun. Nothing phony, artificial or fake about Elizabeth Taylor. True beauty and feminine prettiness, inside and out.
Elizabeth Taylor beauty is more from the inside of her then the outside of her beauty. Been a fan for more then 60 years. Miss her more each day. Thank you for this interview .
Awesome interview - the best of Taylor I have ever seen. There was a lot more to her than I thought. My favorite film Taylor made was Giant. Watching her go from the ingenue in the pink dress to the gray haired matriarch of an amazing family - the scenes with Dean among the best screen moments ever. So authentic so real. He scenes with Rock on the porch when they first met and the scene on the ranch porch where Dean punches Rock - so real. Hudson did such a good job as the rancher - cowboy - powerful mover and shaker in Texas - captured a time in American history worth remembering.
Thank you for sharing this interview. A Place In the Sun remains one of my all time favorite movies. As well as Giant, Elizabeth also worked with George Stevens on The Only Game in Town co starring with Warren Beatty.
Thank you for posting this. It’s indeed a rare interview. Very rarely did she speak about her acting and her career. I loved hearing about her experience shooting Giant and A place in the sun.
ELizabeth comes out as a very deep and profound person. It ws not just her beauty that attracted strong men like Burton and Todd, but an intellect that was rarely allowed to be seen by the public.

These older classic stars truly were STARS from their looks to the way they did everything. Even the people Elizabeth Taylor is describing were different - more grit, sometimes dramatically different.
True. Those stars were thin and cared about their weight and looks and appearance and how they were portrayed. Nowadays celebs are chubby and don’t care
It would have been wild having Elizabeth, Rock and James filming in my town in Texas. I'm not from Marfa, and I wasn't alive yet, but if I had been I would have constantly been on the lookout for them. 😶
I think Elizabeth Taylor was older than 16 when she started filming “a place in the sun” movie .. I’ve read many books on the subject... she was more like 17 or 18... I don’t know how she got the years mixed up...also Elizabeth was really the last real impressive “Movie Star”... there’s not one actor or actress today that’s worth meeting in person or really reading about... they are all boreing and dim compared to Elizabeth’s drama filled career and real life marriages and drama filled life. She was in the era when stars still really lived. She was very lucky she was born in 1932... perfect timing ...otherwise she would have missed it all.
Good on you Liz for saying, it came Real easy in the men gathering scene of Giant. The assertive woman character. Teach that Stevens Jr. re women AREN'T all that a packet of biscuits. Ha ha

She says that she was 16 when she made A Place in the Sun, but the movie came out in August, 1951 when she would have been 19 years old. Does it take 2 years before they publicly release a movie? Also, the movie is based on an old turn of the century crime that involved a Chester Gillette who was executed for the death of Grace Brown. Theodore Dreiser based his novel "An American Tragedy" on this crime that subsequently turned into two films, the later being "A Place in the Sun" which went on to win 6 Academy Awards.
No it takes a few to get everyone together make the movie on location edit it and release it. She was introduced to the actors as they were getting together as in just hired for their parts. She knows what she's talking about concerning her own life.
Elizabeth Taylor was born 2/27/1932. The Release date for A Place in the Sun: 4/5/1951. Thus Ms.Taylor was 19 y/o when film came out. She was Not 16...
Sometime in the late 70s, maybe 1980. She had put on weight and she was mostly retired at this point, she was married to John Warner and living in Virginia.
Splendid interview w/the late great ET... However, @64 was her memory slipping? She was NOT sixteen when filming Place in the Sun - She was eighteen yrs old (born .Feb. 1932) -- Look it up!
She said ERA, for Equal Rights Amendment in 1:10;45. Elizabeth may not have known that men have many, many journals that speak about the Buddy System, 2 in 2 out, I've Got Your Back, and 70+% of editors are male. Women don't have this in print. Men have it in print every month as a requirement for hunting, fishing, scuba diving, sky diving, military, firefighting, police. Hospitals, schools and churches don't have anything like the Buddy System in print. This is why 1% of the Bible are the spoken words of women, and 99% are the spoken words of men. It is called suppression. And it is in black and white in print, and it is in the Bible too.
Dear user, The interview was recorded the 28th October, 1982. At the begining, before starting the interview, suddenly the first clapperboard appears; then, just pause the image: you can check very closely exactly the recording date, the archive/file title, the sequence number, director's name... It is really interesting. I guess 1996 was VHS tape editing year as a private archive; No audiences, no commercial purpose either, but particular collection editing. Hope will be useful to you. Greetings.
She blossomed early - one of the most beautiful women in the world - but deteriorated in her mid 30s onwards - too much booze and weight gain - sad really
I think she missed the entire point: you shouldn't need 6 associate directors to 'remind' you that you have to go back to work; you should be ready and prepared when it's time.
But also, why waste time waiting for her to show, if you can just send someone to get her? All just to teach her a lesson? Plus she was a big movie star, they’re used to have assistants all the time.
Yes babe I concur. It was 80's and return of the shoulder pads from the 40's Joan Crawford days/ewww. Also make up Artist were not used for every single event like they are now for actresses. Liz Literally DID her own makeup a few days on Cleopatra as the MUA got sick lmfao
She was soooo weird. She never saw a film storyboard? Get real those have been used since film began. Seriously Taylor knew how to pretend so many things for the camera. She always felt she had to perform. In this interview there are flashes of direct truth alternating with whimsy reverie schtick.
She was 16 or 17 when she said she hadn't seen a storyboard. It was her first adult role so probably paid more attention to the technical aspects of film making.
So glad this wasn't destroyed; and we have the chance to hear her fabulous, in-depth recollections. Thank you.
