My high school govt teacher in 1979 was Jimmy’s stepson, Michael but I didn’t know if their relationship then. He was a really good, engaging teacher but I can see now, looking back, how devastated he was by his brother’s death. I do remember his asking me who my favorite actor was and I said Jimmy Stewart, having no idea he was his stepson! It must’ve sounded like I was trying to ingratiate myself but he was truly my favorite
Jimmy Stewart is a symbol of talent and character. His role in It's a Wonderful Life remains an enduring inspiration about the value of life and humanity.
I’m so glad that the best narrator was chosen to do this video. Stewart is one of my favorites, and his story is told here with kindness and respect. Thank you.
A wonderful man and a wonderful life. I watch this movie every Christmas- it simply isn’t Christmas without it. So glad he found a wife and mother of his children. The war was a terrible thing and broke many. RIP Jimmy - know that you did well. 🙏🙏👍👍
I great biography. Well done. One blank spot however; you failed to mention his starring role in what some consider as the best as the best western movie ever. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence.
Thank you for illuminating Jimmy Stewart's life. I had no idea he was such a player, which is disappointing to me, but his unrequited romantic love for Margaret is perhaps what sent him to seek solace in the arms of so many other women. I also did not know about his military service, an experience which can definitely take its toll on anyone. (My father had dark hair when he went to Vietnam; he returned home with gray hair. He was 37.) Someone with Henry Fonda's looks and persona would have been a poor choice for the part of George Bailey. From the first time I saw It's A Wonderful Life, it's my own sort of tradition to watch it every Christmas. I love the idea of someone who thinks so little of himself learning that he is actually treasured and respected by his community. And Clarence of course is a hoot. ♥

I would not call Jimmy Stewart a “player”. He was married to his wife Gloria for 45 years. He may have had a lot of relationships before marrying. But when he did marry he stayed loyal. Which to me, is to be admired in Hollywood.
Margaret Sullivan became his good friend..not just his old love. Gloria was the love of his life..and Jimmy Stewart is someone I would be happy to have my kids look up to.
It was in.one of these online forums that I first heard of JS's racism. I then went off to research it. To be sure. I still struggle to think that of him, but it appears to be true. No mention of it here. EXCEPT in the comments.
The night he died I had an elaborate dream about him. I was not looking at any info about him and was just a bit of a fan of his movies. I dreamt he was muttering to himself in his bedroom for some time after the death of his ONLY wife, Gloria. He didn’t really want to live anymore. He got out of bed and wandered through his large home looking for her. At some point one of his children was there. He looked back and forth from my direction to who I assumed was his daughter and finally he slowly said he wanted to be with Gloria. These bits were confirmed at various points after his death.
Well, after going through his adult acting career he was the only actor who could play Mr Bailey part. Just to say " it was a wonderful life!" Thanks " Jimmy" for letting us all know that this world wouldn't be complete without all of us. I salute you Mr. Stewart 🇺🇲🛩️
These aren't stupid people.Jimmy Stewart was clearly intelligent,I get the feeling that there's an awful lot of exaggerating going on here and friendships are made out to be love affairs.
They were friendships. There is some stretching going on here. Normally, I try not to pay attention to it, but with Jimmy Stewart, it rubs me the wrong way.
The scene in It's Wonderful Life where Stewart is crying and begging God to help he was actullay going through PTSD. From what I read, Henry Fonda was a horrible person and slept with everything. His daughter confirmed that.
You could see the chemistry between Jimmy and Margaret in their films together. I had heard rumors of a romance between them before Henry Fonda treated Margaret like property. Jane Fonda used to blame her father for her mother's suicide( Henry's second wife)
Two of my adult friends loved this movie Wonderful Life. After much praise I finally watched it and my advice is not to if you're mentally unstable. Then one of the sisters watched it and took her life. Great movie if you are mentally well. Liked so many other movies Jimmy was in.

I used to really like Jimmy Stewart - however, reading about how he was a racist while he served in the military in WWII and afterwards; also his wife said Jimmy had a real bad temper - Jykell and Hyde personality. Lastly, when Henry Fonda, his best friend, married Maureen Sullavan (his first wife, whom he loved deeply) and his best friend Jimmy Stewart had an affair, which broke up their marriage. Yeah, Jimmy Stewart not the Mr Nice Guy.
