There's a VISION for India here. The core issue here is to give 'aircondiftioned comfort' travel experience to all human beings across India, starting now with Mumbai's locals (max density and numbers). AC travel is not a luxury anymore. It's a necessity. It's every traveller's right. Applicable across all forms and modes of public & private transport vehicles in India.

Let's be realistic. India will never be a developed country in it's lifetime. Even if India grows, it will get stuck in the middle income trap forever. India will also face major resource shortage due to overpopulation and face the wrath of climate change. India's resource base isn't large enough to support an economy too large either. Also the West and China can sabotage India in a jiffy if it grows too much. Also most Indians don't have unity and are still backward minded and tribalistic. Corruption and being unethical has become so deep rooted that it's become impossible to fix it. Also, the number of talented Indians leaving India is increasing at an alarming rate every year and many of these Indians who left India brag about India being the next big thing which is extremely comedic. To conclude, India may improve in some areas, but it always stay a corrupt 3rd world uncivilized sh8hole. Hence, forget your dreams of being a developed country pa jeets. India is an utterly failed experiment.
      Adios

Another big problem for Mumbai local trains is people travelling without tickets. If 75 lakh people are using this network daily, imagine the amount of money that can be earned and in turn be used to modernize the network. Similar to metro, we need to implement scannable tickets for entry. The only way to solve Mumbai's traffic is to invest in our public transport. I am hopeful that the next few years are going to be transformative for Mumbai and India.

Thanks for the content presented. Ticketing for these AC Trains has to be affordable enough so that people can travel without hesitating. Also, Indian railways should implement and introduce more 15 coaches than the 12ers. We Mumbaikars do have the habit of buying tickets from UTS now and cut down time standing in long queues. Existing Designs by ICF is improved much better. It's all up to the commoners how they maintain and keep these safe and long lasting. Also, talking about the Metro from Andheri to Ghatkopar Metro, Ticket prices should be 20-25 INR instead of 30 for single route. and 50 INR for return. I am train traveler from Vasai Road to Airavali who tried taking different routes to reach office. it takes minimum 2 to 2.5 hrs. for 1 onward journey. Also, MSRTC people are king, the state government are not willing to upgrade their depots and are still running at their own timings and aren't increasing frequencies. I have also travelling through road from vasai to thane which is heavy on my pockets. Check with Bangalore, the BMTC, Namma Metro fare and EMU fares are affordable almost similar there. State Bus Transport earning is good.

I am saying this as a fellow mumbai local yatri, the emphasis should not be on seating & air conditioning as we use these trains just for reaching a place.
Seatings can be reduced to give more space for standing and moving crowd as the current coaches have big problem of passengers overloaded on the doors as there are no spaces inside the coaches.
If the flow of passengers getting in & out is sorted many issues we face during peak hours might go away.

Being a developed country has absolutely nothing to do with having a few developed cities. Making big cities independent might have made sense two decades ago. It will be the stupidest idea now. If the way I have witnessed change in rural Western Maharashtra is anything to go by within a decade rural area would be a major consumer of goods and services. Revenue shared by cities like Mumbai effectively increases disposable incomes in rural areas which increases consumption which in turn increases revenues of big businesses most of which are based in large cities. This rural urban circulation was one of the reasons post COVID economic recovery of India was much quicker than some economic "experts" expected.
Secondly trying to imitate China can be really dengerous as no one really knows how sustainable Chinese model is in the long term.
All those fancy cities have developed because forced migration and having no good investment alternatives apart from real estate. This has led to highly inflated real estate prices. Having no investment alternative means real estate investment is not discretionary but mandatory. That's why China's domestic consumption is not very effective at propping up it's economy becuase showing a higher per capita income atleast on paper, discretionary income of Chinese population is relatively low. If the west does decouple from China, Chinese economy would completely implode within 5 - 6 years.

In places like mumbai, the most important is speed, people are used to catching running trains to get ht seat.
    My suggestion would be
First use these on particular stations and platforms only like say Churgate Bombay central, Dadar, Bandra, Andheri, Borivali, Bhyander, Vasai and Virar These should come on certain fixed platforms only, and these platforms should have doors on the train side so that no one can go on the track etc. this way when the train arrives the train doors are closed and the platform side doors are closed, then both open, this is like the Metro concept some metros have this concept. of course instead of 20 second wait, the wait time would be 30-40 seconds but due to its speed the train can make it up..

    1. Local Trains are affordable. Most of the working class living in Eastern Suburbs and Out of Mainland Mumbai cant afford the tickets
    2. The open doors of Mumbai Local help to accomodate more people. The AC Trains available are getting much more crowded and it is way worse than normal local
