I see a lot of comments asking about the Commonwealth of China. In case it wasn't communicated well, the COC government is not Chinese, it's full of Americans. America has complete control over China, the Chinese people were literally second class citizens and were not allowed anywhere near high levels of government. The COC is not China joining the U.S., it's the U.S. conquering China and subjecting it to their will.

    • @Alex_FRD
      @Alex_FRD 2 ปีที่แล้ว +195

The confusion comes from how you stated that China would be America's 15th commonwealth. That implies annexation rather than the establishment of a puppet regime.

      @@Alex_FRD ,
While I agree with the confusion, I paused for a moment too, this isn't a puppet government situation....
China was Annexed, the government in China is the United States government and not some Chinese puppet.
One section of the United States Government is just fighting internally with another, normal in commonwealths.

It's not a big surprise what happened... it was evident in Fallout that the USA was probably months short of full blown civil war by the end. If the war hadn't happened it would have blown up... the Brotherhood of Steel formed *before* the bombs hit when they declared themselves in desertion and got no response at Mariposa. The Enclave was already evacuating to shelters before the bombs flew... so any sudden 'victory' only would have delayed the inevitable cracks and corruption. And once they ran out of targets they'd fall apart into a bloody civil war they'd inevitably lose. The only question would be how long it took. A very good what-if.

    • @Baalslegion07

And dont forget all the shit we learn in New Vegas! The scientists at Big MT were there during and way before the war and grew more depraved with every passing month. If the USA wouldn't have died in a nuclear explosion, they'd definitly have won the war with fucked up super weapons and bio-engineered monstrosities.
The USA had won. They through out every tiny scrap of ethics, they sold their people out and had everything ready. They had power armor, way more advanced weaponry and were bigger. China had lost which is why I think they fired first (resulting in the stuff the brotherhood of steel memoires mention being actual facts and no americanized version of the events). There is no way, that the chinese would have won. Their only chance was a nuclear war and they lost that war too.
But like you said, even without any war, the US was already so far down the rabbit hole, that any of the then arising dactions would have caused an implosion. Be it the enclave starting an uprising of an american master race, be it crazed scientists releasing their unethical experiments onto the world or be it a military uprising. From what we learn from terminals, even citizens started to rebel pre war. They were unhappy with the government.
Or look at Rober House. He might want the best for the world, but only for a world in his image. Even as a human he was methodical, calculatinf and superhumanly intelligent. He basicly forced the government into deals and had an entire army of robots built before the war with other creations of his already being present in many homes and the military. He probably would have at some point done the same thing he did to the NCR to the actual pre war government. And without the war, the chip would have arrived more or less on time and those protectrons would have been upgraded, he'd have giant laser turrets on the Lucky 38 and he could have been anywhere at any time. At that point, he would have been able to take over the USA from the inside.
Or Lorenzo cabbot and his cult fanatics, those were pre war things, those people surely wouldn't have held out forever. We know about that lovecraftian cult that almost every major buisiness owner was involved. So yeah, they would probably have started a takeover attempt at some point.
And lastly, if nothing else would have happned, the zetan aliens would have won their own war against us. That laser they have on the mothership was strong enough that nobody could ever have done anything against it in time.
So yeah in the fallout universe humanity was always totally fucked

Also, the ALIENS. I was just playing Fallout 76 (they had their Alien event again) and I found a recording in the town of Flatwoods in Fallout 76 (I think the recording I found was around the area of the group of double headed cows, The Brahmins, all hang out in Flatwood). Fallout 76, which takes place 25 years after the Great War, has the recording from a guy who gives eye witness testimony that the aliens showed up about ten days BEFORE the war started and he is convinced that the aliens played a part in kick starting the Great War. He describes the aliens in the same way I encountered them in the game when I fought the aliens in Fallout 76 (with them having green skin). He definitely saw them. He also speculates that the aliens might view Earth as a series of multiple experiments that they want to conduct for whatever bizarre reasons. On a side note, there were also aliens in Fallout 3 (in a DLC) and 4 (under very specific conditions, there is a way to run into one of them... and he is NOT friendly).

At least one can make the argument that Canada was also an English-speaking, democratic nation with cultural, ethnic, and historical ties to the US. More likely what would happen is a Taiwanese occupation of the mainland with US forces there as "peacekeepers", while the USSR becomes the new communist boogeyman.

The saddest thing about the Fallout timeline is that they had everything they could have possibly needed to save the world and usher in a new and enlightened age. Fusion power, wonder drugs that could cure almost any disease, GECKs. They had all the resources they needed to save humanity and they knowingly chose not to. They took that technology to feed the military industrial complex, twisting and corrupting all of the good that could have been done, and ultimately leading to the end times.
There’s an important lesson in that, I think. A very important lesson…

Good video, though I don’t think it makes much sense to make China a commonwealth. Imagine how hard that would be to integrate China into America. I think it would've made more sense to setup a Puppet Government and still have it be occupied, with American corporations set up shop. But having the Chinese completly integrate into American culture in such a sort amount of time is completly ridiculous. I liked the video, but it was REALLY disappointing to see China become what it did.
The most I could see is tiny Enclaves of Americans still being Americans in new towns and small communities but that's about it, they'd probably integrate into China, leaving only a slight tinge of America behind.
I feel like once American refuges started coming over, the Chinese would cut themselves off from America and become a quote on quote "sister" republic of sorts, but still, not really as American as America would like. China could possibly become like Switzerland and turning inward with America collapses into Civil War at home.

The BoS, new state governments, volunteer paramilitaries, Good Samaritan organizations, bandits, terrorist organizations like Caesar’s Legion, technocratic councils, vault communities, cults, the institute, autonomous robot armies, mutants and what we see of the Enclave were effectively in place before the Great War even started; they just got a different birth from the aftermath of the apocalypse. Nice story. I would nitpick quite a fair amount on this; whilst the narrative is in broad strokes, I still think there’s a lot of what we would call old wall technology you haven’t considered incorporating. For example, there is a lot of talk about military action, but there is no mention of military grade robots. Sentry bots, Eye bots, assault protectrons. With the Chinese insurgence, it would’ve been easy for the military to use these machines against the insurgents with near total success.
Also - food shortages. We obviously have vault 22 But also there is the pink food paste from fallout 4 as a food substitute. And weren’t Mirelurks already appearing near Nahant by 2077 because of pollution?

We also seem to forget that every resource problem America had. China had like 10X worse. Why do you think they invaded Anchorage in the first place? Their oil reserves were running low and without the Alaskan supply or Nucluear fusion tech they were bordering on collapse. Not to mention the chinese communist party's reputation with food is obvious, and their technology was far behind ours militarily. The most advanced stuff they could crank out are stealth suits, but their average solider is still wearing basic fatigues and can't even be equipped with any body armor.

I think the next logical step for the Fallout universe "If the bombs didn't drop" would most definitely be Space. I recently played through Nuka world again and had to go through the galactic world section because of the extremely interesting details laden throughout it's attractions about vault-tecs plans for space exploration. Bethesda's strategic spin off with Starfield looks to be the answer due to it's similarities with big corporations like those of the fallout universe making it to space. Power Armor is literally made for space conquest. Also the invention and mass integration of laser weapons all point to a world that was obviously readying itself for space travel. The decision to use nuclear power as a long term solution to energy. Rather than the world we live in today heavily dependent on fossil fuels. And lastly the mass integration of robotics. Admittedly Fallout's world not developing the microprocessor amidst all these other developments as well as THIER obsession with the 50's and it's art deco style while charming, doesn't make sense. I would have loved to see the lore expanded to a decade like the 80s and stopping there instead in terms of influence and culture.

    • @andrefasching1332
      @andrefasching1332 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it....doesnt make sense?
Its the setting of a game, no documentary. Same with Harry potter being set in the 90s despite the books being written later. There is a reason why a setting is how it is.
The setting of fallout with its 50s charme was to create a contrast between the ruined and painful existence of a post ww3 setting and the uplifting and hopefilled atmosphere of the 50s.
With all due respect, your 80s setting does not make sense either for a Nation in the 2070 and sounds not nearly as original. Would have simply been a grim dark setting instead of the the overcheerish irony we are able to enjoy

    • @mbrad9379
      @mbrad9379 ปีที่แล้ว

@@andrefasching1332 Do you mean to tell me the 80s wasnt cheery as well as bleak? Just look at the amount of Cold War media and propaganda films that were created in the 80s that still defines American culture to this day. Saying the 1950s make more sense in the year 2077 in my opinion is just as rediculous as well as not inventing the Micro-Processor. But Fallout lore essentially wants you to believe the world stayed the same as it was in the 1950s for a period of over 100 years. Now that is just rediculous if you ask me. Not saying it couldnt be but haveing nods to later eras of the 20th century would have help justify this Lore GAP.

      1. I said its equally unrealistic to have 80s style. You understand? Equally...funny word, i know. From a technical perspective the whole game is unrealistic. But as i said. its no documentary, its a game
      2. To ignorant to accept my Harry Potter example? You too cool for this? There is a fucking reason a certain person creates a setting. The setting in the case of Fallout is set POST war with a culture that combines the post war hope of the 50s and combine it with the pre war fear of these alternative 2070. I really dont get whats so hard to understand about this They wanted to create a game with a certain vibe. The 50s Vibe is equally ironic as it is again a post war szenario and sincere as well...its post war.
because i feel that you still wont understand this
the 50s had hope. the had 80s fear.
a game full of fear is no fun to play
fallout was designed as a dark but fun game
      there fear+fun not fear+fear
The fallout lore is already full of anti commi fearmongering, why in gods name should the developers remove the uplifting 50s vibe in order to...what? fulfill your need for a microprocessor???. Okay so some issues I am seeing in this video.
1: The military is portrayed to be using a Post WW2/Korean War loadout vs the energy weapons and other adv gear the US is known to deploy in the setting.
2: The agricultural crisis should've, could've, and would've been solved by the mass deployment of GECK's thus heading off the famine. Yes Vault tec would've price gouged the US on em but dear lord where is the attention to detail you normally show in these? *EDIT* I am going to add this here: Using the GECK's, which would've been easier for them with the needed infrastructure to produce them intact, to restore the areas hit by nukes would've been a massive pr and propaganda win for the Government. Just saying it makes more sense for them to use them to starve their people.
3: Another knock on the agricultural crisis: where was Big Mountain and the Mojave vault? Like these institutions were still functioning before the war and would've been used for RnD.
4: Police gear: Why wasn't the Westcoast Riot Armor not deployed in the early waves of the patriotization process? The thermals in this new conflict I am looking at?
5: Majority of the Old world nations had self destructed during the Resource wars. None of them were in a financial or militarily in any position to buy nuclear or fusion tech from the US.
6: Where was Mr.House in all of this?
He was a man with a plan and his interception hardware should've stopped nukes from touching down.
My guy you need to go back to the drawing board and redo this one and do your homework.
You cut so much out that even Bethesda left in to make this scenario work. This feels like the US was the Fallout 2 Enclave, evil for the sake of being evil.
I enjoy your content, I really do but this was subpar compared to you other work.

1 : The images are just illustrations, advanced weaponry like Power Armor and orbital lasers are mentionned several times in the video. Wether the military uses laser/plasma guns as much as they use traditional weapons has no impact whatsoever on the scenario.
2 : The GECK was designed to render sterile land into farmable, habitable land. It wasn't designed to speed up growth, crops would still take months to grow and this all happens in a short span time so the food crisis would still be a thing.
3 : Research takes years to amount to something, Big MT was active for a long time before the Great War yet despite that the US was still a shithole. As for Vault 87, it's shown in NV the technology used in that vault is unstable and turns plants and humans into flesh eating monsters. Unleashing that technology would just create giant jungle hellscapes.
4 : That wouldn't change anything, also the government doesn't hand out new gear in fear it might be turned against them later.
5 : It's stated in the Fallout 1 intro the European Commonwealth was dissolved and was reduced to bickering states, however they didn't nuke themselves. The growing threat of the US in this scenario would likely be used to paint them as a boogeyman, and be a cause to stop the fighting and unite as there wasn't much left to fight for anyway. Also it's not just Europe but the entire world, the whole of them put together could probably buy US fusion tech or even develop their own.
6 : Mr House was focused on saving Vegas and its surroundings, the upgrades contained within the Platinum chip weren't designed to stop nukes from hitting the East Coast. Since Vegas wasn't hit in this, he probably kept making billions with RobCo and Repconn (especially with the Mars mission).
"This feels like the US was the Fallout 2 Enclave, evil for the sake of being evil" For all intents and purposes, it was. America in the Fallout world is a dystopian authoritarian state that executes civilians and experiments on innocents, every piece of lore we have on pre-war America paints them as evil bastards.

I agree with everything in this comment, I love his work but come on! I feel like this could have been way better, I mean this outcome really doesn’t seem much better then if the Great War really would have just happened. Probably even worse. I feel like in this video, the first part about the full scale military invasion of china was really good with taking out the government and everything, and taking out the BOS at mariposa was good but then it just seemed to drop. Everything you mentioned and then other stuff like how the newly occupied china would play out, I think the US would hunt down any surviving Chinese military/Government but then divide the land between other allied nations like the EU, Soviet Union, Taiwan, and maybe even Australia or something. But I think we can agree that even a somewhat corrupt US government would not be so stupid as the try to fully annex china and add 100 million more mouths to feed with the current famine in the US. And I think the first moment a USNG soldier fired on a group of civilians it would all just go to crap right then and there. And if some nukes were detonated, what about nuclear fallout being blown all over the world? There’s 10 other things I could write but my thumb is getting tired so yeah, omega initiative, I think you need to make some TH-cam polls and look at the comments and take two on this one. No point in having the Great War not happen if it’s not a good ending.
