Honestly, even just the division but every area of NYC is an open pvp zone would make me happy. I think the division had such a cool atmosphere with the snowed in city
They marketed the game themselves, though. Nvidia pulled out of from after whatever conference they had in March. They have no one else with them except the publisher, which is somehow tied to the developer. Be mad at them. They are alone on the island of misfit games right now.
I worked at Mytona when the game was still in development and once in a while they would give us showcases to give us insight on the state of the game. The CEO of Mytona was playing it live before hundreds of people and the game was just as broken as it is right now, and that was back in 2020. There was an actual open-world, and you could actually drive the vehicles but when he tried to drive one, the car bugged out and flew away. They had to stop the showcase prematurely just to not embarrass themselves more than they already did.
They need to start being realistic and saying things like “the game gets really good after you can’t refund it anymore and you have to try to find a way to enjoy it now that you’re stuck with it! :)”
This has been one of the best years for gaming we have ever had! Last time we had a year like this was probably 2011, with Skyrim, Batman Arkham City, Portal 2, Minecraft, and Uncharted 3. But this year is special because we got gems like Forespoken, Redfall, Gollum, Rise of Kong, The Walking Dead Destinies, and The Day Before! So glad I could live to see this!
Woodberry should have its own server. When you step into the open world, that should be a separate server. When it’s all one server you split the player base because some players might be afk in a safe zone.
Imagine Capcom charged Resident Evil 3 Remake for 80 bucks and it doesnt have even a large urban city like this game, compared to RE3R this game looks a gift XD
@@pandanation2121 Yeah but Starfield didn't come out *this* half baked. This hasn't even begun baking yet it's literally just dough someone set out in the sun for a day or two, and then proclaimed that it was baked.
Those gunshots you hear, they are not from players. They spawn sounds around each player to simulate it. Why don't they show how many people are in a server?
TheRadBrad is one of the most longing playing gamers I've watched. He's played so many games it's hard to believe THE DAY BEFORE is the first one he's EVER refunded. I think that shows just how trash this game is
I just got done watching his video and even the ever positive, optimistic king Brad himself couldn't find any redeeming qualities apart from a nice looking environment. First game he's ever refunded and he's been around for a very long time. That indeed says all you need to know about how bad it is. I see minor potential, but in its current state, I'm actually shocked it got released.
About volunteers, it actually is pretty common for volunteers to work on a game IF and only IF they didn't get anything else or they're trying to build portfolio or something, or just finished college and didn't get anything to work on, so they start working on a project as a volunteer to get experience and hopefully get a better job. But what it isn't common is the way that the game was marketed. It was straight up a lie from the start and that not only hinders the company's reputation but the volunteer devs that worked on it. I feel sad, because I worked on some game projects as a volunteer myself because I didn't had anything to show and the projects were just for like, one or two months. The idea of having a big game made by volunteers is crazy and it is worse with the marketing as well.
One other thing that screamed "unexperienced people" doing this was the error message. The "UE-Survival Game" was probably the name they used for the Unreal Engine Project, not the game itself and they forgot to change it once they had the build to release the game.
But honestly, doesn’t that error tell you everything you need to know? “UE Survival Game” just screams low effort asset flip. Which is what this was. Low effort cash grab in the end.
@@georgen5882 Honestly, the game seemed just like a "Level Design show off" with some generic survival mechanics that looked like people just trying to show off what they could do. It's a $5 game at best, at worst, it needs to be FTP.
Another thing that sucks about all this is that if you were a volunteer, is this even something you'd want on your portfolio? Cause I feel like mentioning that you worked on this game would hurt you more than help you. I guess you could just not disclose the name of the project or who you worked for but I feel most people would ask that question. It honestly just sucks all around for everyone involved. I don't feel bad for whoever was at the helm though, they fully are getting what they deserve, but it still sucks that they made off with so much money from what has basically come to light as a scam.
I hate Geoff Keighley for not making a worst game of the year category finally. We could have a banger list this year. Forspoken Redfall Gollum Kong Walking Dead Now this Just absolutely perfect nominates. It would have been a hard and perfectly balanced fight.
Funny how they gave out early access keys but no one could even play it early. Now its no suprise why, they took the money and ran deleting all original trailers. Im actually shocked it even released, the main city map is a $300 unreal engine asset
The UE-Survival Game is most likely the 6 parts learning corse from Tom Looman. From what iv seen its even a feature match. Think you can finish the corse in a weekend or just get the finished version online

Also most... or all(?) assets are from Marketplace and maybe other places. I mean, the city can be bought from Unreal Engine Marketplace. So they bought all the assets and then probably put most things together from tutorial series (I'm gonna look up the one you mention, I'm curious now). So it's extremely low effort.
I don't blame people for being excited after the first trailer but I have zero sympathy for people disappointed Day Before didn't live up to the hype after the avalanche of evidence leading up to release
You gotta give the devs some credit though, everyone expected this game to be just a scam and yet they somehow managed to disappoint most players even despite that.
The giant PC head slowly rising out of the pavement and then randomly vibrating/bugging out toward you when you shoot it is one of the most terrifying things I've seen in a horror game, ngl.
UE Survival Game is the name of the Unreal Enginge Survival Base Kit you can buy for creating your own survival game. Also many assets seem to be from the asset store. It seems like they just bought the Suvival Kit, used assets from the store, put in some ambient sounds for good measuring and called it a day..
Luke should do an awards show for worst games of the year. Different genres, craziest bugs. It would be great. If not a bit cruel. Real people work in these games, but someone’s got to be person to hit the breaks
They’ve definitely done a last-minute asset flip to make it look like there’s something there, hence no gameplay loop. A UE kit called Survival game kit V2 has the exact features that make up the core of the game (jigsaw inventory, base building, shooting/animations, multiplayer)
I’m thankful for this disaster because it shows more people to be more careful about the corporate marketing executive priorities in the competitive world of game development
I was jumping around different people streaming the game yesterday, and every time there was an alarm going off. Then I’ve watched a couple of videos and everyone mentions the constant alarms 🤣🤣
18:25 "I've never seen that in a game" I did. I had a modded Minecraft world in which a zombie spawned glitched and its miniature spinning zombie became absolutely massive. Since it stops spinning when you go far away from it, I just had a massive zombie in my world for a minute.
Hmm. A company with a shady history makes a game with shady footage prior to early access. Yes. People should totally buy it. In all seriousness, don't expect a quality product from people with a shady history.
No basic parkour (vault/jump a fence-wall) is just a deal breaker for me in this type of game + No melee in a Z O M B I E S U R V I V A L game + Fantastic record on abandoning projects. I can't see a future where they actually complete the game they promised. I still don't understand why is no legal problems with this kind of practices, insane.
I think we can thank the bigger studies for creating this trend. Games like these follow the same idea as Cyberpunk, Fallout 76, No man sky etc. that it is perfectly acceptable to release a half finished, barely working game and then players just have to accept to wait a few years for them to get them working with lacking features and promises originally made. The biggest difference is that these smaller companies don't have the means to follow through with this way of making games so they just go bankrupt instead.
Yeah I don't believe for a second they went bankrupt for that reason. This is a pump and dump cash grab. Simple as. They have folded the company so they can take the money and avoid any lawsuits. This wasn't to pay off creditors or investors. Investors wouldn't let them scrub the company after four days, especially seeing as sales were strong- especially compared to the average game sale on steam in 2023. It's complete BS
I'd pay a 100 $ for a New Vegas remake any day instead of being bafooned by false advertising. It still baffles me how so many people bought and played this game.
17:45 That error title is because the game is built on asset packs and kits from the unreal engine store and that's just the default error message that comes with the Survival Game one. They didn't bother to modify it
I would describe a game like the Walking Dead: Destinies as a so bad it's good kind of game, or a Tommy Wiseau, "the Room" game. The Day Before is not a Tommy Wiseau game.
I actually love that this turd is what caps off 2023, one of the greatest years for insanely good games maybe ever lol. Like putting ketchup on perfectly prepared Wagyu steak 😂

Can we stop getting asset flip, cookie cutter, shovel ware, multiplayer games? We all know why this game was made. Money. Their dream is the player wallet, and nothing more. The copium on Steam is mind boggling and it's hilarious just how stupid many people are. The stans are defending the developers saying they didn't do a bait and switch. 😂 It was marketed as a SURVIVAL mmo, no survival elements exist in the game, blatant false advertising.
The gun shots you heard are ambient noise they put gun fire as ambient noise in a game where you'll be fighting other players idk what they were thinking with that
Zombie open-world MMO is what was promised. Extraction-based looter-shooter was delivered. I love when I buy Red Dead Redemption 2 and get Sonic Adventures.
This is not just an asset flip this is a full game flip. The entire core of the game looks to be a survival template from the UE market filled with other market place survival packs. They made the cutscenes but the rest its just a bunch of templates anyone with a little skill set of Unreal, can put together.
It’s honestly so lame that the video game industry does this. A lot of these companies are just scam artists in my opinion and are really no better than the scam callers trying to steal your credit card info and or identity
That's what I say too: "I'm not very good at most games", especially pvp ones. Good on Luke for being honest. When I tell people this I get this immediate silence then a nervous titter might chime in as if I might be lying, lol. And then we all hit it off in the chat and they go all mentory on me (which is kind of... nice). 🐣
If they fix the foundations: the amount of zombies, the audio and add a melee system the chance is there... but if in the next 4 months the game doesn't get at least 2 updates it's just going to be removed from steam or be completely abandoned by May of 2024
@@zakanyimen What's weird to me is that there's *way* too much work done here for a cash-grab. Like, there's an obvious amount of genuine effort put in, way more than you'd expect for a scam.
They haven't put any love or care into this project. They basically slapped something that kind of works in the last months. No way this piece of crap was developed for years.
The game was getting thousands to streamers to buy it. Streamers buy it, gamers laugh, content creators like yourself make bank on the videos, they get a million dollars, and start again. Fntastic may not know how to make a game, but they sure know how to play the game.😉

I’m playing this atm, it’s my first Assassin creed since the original game came out. It’s so much fun and it’s such an incredible world with heaps to do. If it wasn’t for these videos that Luke makes and the fact it’s on gamepass, I would’ve probably never have played it. Runs pretty good on series s too.

They marketed the game themselves, though. Nvidia pulled out of from after whatever conference they had in March. They have no one else with them except the publisher, which is somehow tied to the developer. Be mad at them. They are alone on the island of misfit games right now.
@@donald925 Learn how to read. Nobody said anything about "makers"
You know you can refund yes?
I worked at Mytona when the game was still in development and once in a while they would give us showcases to give us insight on the state of the game. The CEO of Mytona was playing it live before hundreds of people and the game was just as broken as it is right now, and that was back in 2020. There was an actual open-world, and you could actually drive the vehicles but when he tried to drive one, the car bugged out and flew away. They had to stop the showcase prematurely just to not embarrass themselves more than they already did.
Honestly im surprised in the sense i didn't even expect there to be a game, just a png that said "sorry"
I really like how your titles aren’t clickbaity like everyone elses. It kinda makes me wanna see them more, just because they aren’t clickbaittitles.
The fact that they released it and charged 40 dollars for it is laughable
Based off the amount of Steam reviews, they made nearly $1 million in one day so far off it too.
How much of that was refunded lol
@@boxingfan2796 they better hold that money until all the refunds clear 💀
I think that shows just how trash this game is
Wow when RadBrad refunds a game, you know it’s bad.
It takes a lot for Brad to shit on a game lmao
I saw that. Typical Brad he remained optimistic... until he didn't lol.
@@LTNetjak Exactly. Normally these games are free to play, or very low cost. A $40 game like this? Very hard to believe it would come out good.
They didn't even build the city, it is literally a map bought in the UE marketplace for 300 USD
I hate Geoff Keighley for not making a worst game of the year category finally.
We could have a banger list this year.
Forspoken
Redfall
Gollum
Kong
Walking Dead
Now this
Just absolutely perfect nominates. It would have been a hard and perfectly balanced fight.
Imagine if you HAVE to play one of these games for five hours, which one would you pick? 😂
"man they are gonna be selling that as a microtransaction within a week."
The game didn't even make it that far lol.
They managed to sneak in one last bad game before the year ends.
If this is their dream game then I don't wanna know what their nightmares look like
DayZ standalone early stage Alpha was a pretty high quality nightmare. Lol.
Dead Matter is the nightmare 😂
I'm all for an entertaining dumpster fire. Bring on the nightmare.
UE - Survival Game is a preset name (text field, preset) for the initial Game title / Basic parameters dialog box that opens on a New Project.
@ Makes you question what they was doing all this time
@@Okabe_Rintaro sure but even a month if doing nothing and I'd be bored out my mind and make something just out of pure boredom

When the character said "Welcome to Woodbury" i thought it was another Walking Dead game 😅
It's been both the highest of highs and lowest of lows for games this year hasn't it?
I mean it cleared the high bar of “actually exists” that a lot of people didn’t think it would clear.
Woodberry is a direct steal from the name of a town in the walking dead.
Luke, the spin on their take of apocalypse is that the virus makes the people disappear🤣🤣🤣
How considerate of them to launch this after TGA so that other games had a chance to get an award this year
You know it’s 2023 when you can say well… it does seem like an actual video game and for that to be a positive thing 😂
And the studio shut down just days after game released. One hell of a history
Me: watching another Luke Stephens video
Reaching the point of the giant disfigured player models: *calling my therapist crying*
It's called what it is in the error dialog box because that's what the free tutorial told the unpaid volunteers to write in step 18.
I'd pay a 100 $ for a New Vegas remake any day instead of being bafooned by false advertising. It still baffles me how so many people bought and played this game.
7:22 I havent seen knee walking since Goldeneye 007. Nostalgic!
If Rise Of Kong Skull Island and Gollum are better than this, than this is an abomination lol 😂
17:45 That error title is because the game is built on asset packs and kits from the unreal engine store and that's just the default error message that comes with the Survival Game one. They didn't bother to modify it
Angry Joe fell through the floor the absolute first moment he got control of his character.
That really says it all.
I did not know the developers were volunteers. No WONDER the game is so bad! They weren't paid, why would the put effort into it??
This was supposed to be their dream game, it's really giving me sleep paralysis vibes though
Come on man. Nothing sets off the fire of a steak like ketchup. If you don’t put ketchup on steak I dont think I want to talk to you anymore.
@@georgen5882 certain types of steak, if it’s made at home fuck it why not throw some ketchup on that $15 grocery store cut every once in awhile, but if you’re at a steakhouse ordering a $200 wagyu it’s time to get used to what a really good steak taste like.
Can we stop getting asset flip, cookie cutter, shovel ware, multiplayer games? We all know why this game was made. Money. Their dream is the player wallet, and nothing more.
Also, at least for me, whenever I get "PUBG" vibes from animations and graphical design I can almost call it out that the game is going to be absolute shit well before the game even drops. I *HAVE BEEN WRONG* before but 80-90% of the time I end up being correct.
I get it now, the game was made THE DAY BEFORE it's release.
i was waiting for you to review this game 🤣
Your posts and reviews are always refreshing and whenever I hear them I'm always reminded of the rarity of having a gamer I guess whose actually going to college LOL. You always sound educated and I guess that's a rarity in this sector 😂
The copium on Steam is mind boggling and it's hilarious just how stupid many people are.
The stans are defending the developers saying they didn't do a bait and switch. 😂
It was marketed as a SURVIVAL mmo, no survival elements exist in the game, blatant false advertising.
All i can hope from this is for a high end company to realize what we want and then make it happen for us. The concept here is awesome.
This is not just an asset flip this is a full game flip. The entire core of the game looks to be a survival template from the UE market filled with other market place survival packs. They made the cutscenes but the rest its just a bunch of templates anyone with a little skill set of Unreal, can put together.
That opening was new Vegas, it was MGSV, down the the angle the doctor is looking over you, the bright white light and the hospital curtains.
And then we all hit it off in the chat and they go all mentory on me (which is kind of... nice). 🐣
If they fix the foundations: the amount of zombies, the audio and add a melee system the chance is there...
but if in the next 4 months the game doesn't get at least 2 updates it's just going to be removed from steam or be completely abandoned by May of 2024
So you are saying if they actually filled/finished the game it might actually be mid
Not going to happen.
So it has no melee ,jesus wept.

Let's take note on something here. Luke killed literally 1 zombie in a game about a ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE

Hey Luke,
Hope you and your family are doing well! Did you get to watch the Game Awards yesterday? I’m glad Baldurs Gate 3 won. And finally, Black Myth: Wukong has a release date!
Well shit I need to look at that like right now. I’ve had my eye on Black Myth for a while. Could be fun. But it could be a dud. Hopefully it’s fun.
This wasn't their dream game, Fntastic is the poor version of GameMill. Except they got an idea game that had everyone excited and instead of making it they used their popularity to pump other cheap swill which were abandoned weeks later. Their own community tore them apart on their reddit, this game had one chance to shine and prove everyone wrong, but it didn't do that. It turned out worse than everyone thought. This game wouldn't be worth anyones time even as a free game.

I'd love to see a class action lawsuit wrecking these scammers financially. Cause they're getting away with millions of dollars and they'll do it again. They'll apologize, re-brand, hype up some new game and again pull some similar scammy sh*t - hell they already apologized BEFORE the game came out... my god, what a dump...

When that guy said “Welcome to Woodberry”, it immediately reminded me of The Walking Dead Governor. Not even the lines are original.
And now, the whole project and everything is shut down. Couldn't see that coming a year away. XD
