Miguel's design looks a lot like Skinos - a very popular beverage at the moment. And its greek so it kind of feels like rebrand to me, even though I agree that its very aesthetic
Usually in these types of videos there's always a distinct winner and a distinct loser for me, however all of these designs are great - huge props to the designers. I could picture any of these designs being commercially used in stores.
Couldn’t agree more. Always a obvious winner but all of these designs were literally great. Very tough to pick one because each design goes for a distinctive vibe for the mock company. I believe depending on which design you would go with would heavily impact the demographic of consumers which also makes it a hard choice.
11:55 AU is also the chemical symbol for gold in the periodic table which sort of adds another layer to the logo when its in gold foil, whether intentional or not
As a former bartender, I've seen my fair share of liquor bottles. And I would say the light ones look most professional. The sans serif one does feel a little more generic with the logotype. But the Roman variant would probably look rather well in any bar
Came here looking for another bar person! I wish they would have done them as 70cl bottles rather than 1L. 1L seems more design friendly, but most back bar bottles are 70s.
I love Miguel's mythology design. I especially love the use of space, the white, bright look and minimalist vibe that looks so fancy and makes up for being non-alcoholic (but nothing wrong with that ofc). It just pops out so much against darker and duller designs we usually see. The second would have to go with JorgeC - again I love the minimalist and high-end look.
I loved number 2 from JorgeC especially the bottle neck detail and the "R" at the logotype. I would like to see how it will look if the logo composition was a little higher so it could breath a little better and form a perfect circle.
I think Jorge is the winner! I find it to be the most luxe looking and if I was in a shop I would be gravitated to it but I do think if the label was white and not dark it would stand out even more and look a little more luxe.
Obvs they're all great, but if I'm in a bar or supermarket, I'd gravitate towards Emma's for sure. I like what she said about using the colour of the aurora to denote flavours too, that's a great added bonus
I love Jorge's. It leans a little art nouveau to me. Im drawn to it because it feels premium. I know a lot of people like the white, but I've seen far too many 'cheap' liquors that go with white. White with a clear liquor is too monochromatic. Prone to being overlooked by my eyes. Maybe its because I personally love blue and gold and have a bottle of Johnny walker blue label sitting on the top of my fridge. Regardless Jorge gets my vote.
personally i think the second has the best design concept and typography -- if they made the text bigger and moved everything up a bit i think it'd be perfect. i liked emma's but i think i'm just sick of seeing that font style from every brand
I love all the designs and appreciate the designers. I really like Miguel's 1st minimal design. I feel the vertical "AURORA" coming out of the bottle when drinking. I like that feeling. 💛
I loved Matt’s (the first) design the most, would love to have that bottle in my room! Second to me would be JorgeC, also very beautiful. The others seemed too standard to me
Absolutely the first design. Using the aurora literally is what I would expect when a brand call itself Aurora. And it look like a old fashioned classy 50s gin
I agree with a lot of commentators here already: usually I have a clear winner in my head, but all of the designs are REALLY well done and all of them are amazing as is - good job to all of the designers involved 🙌🏻
JorgeC's design: Do you think that the design is bottom heavy to reflect the fact that the earth is busy, while the top conveys the vast "emptiness" of space? Or am I thinking too much into it?
8:37 one thins that must be pointed out on this design is the O in "aurora". With a forward slash line in the middle, it becomes the letter Ø, which is a Norse letter, used in modern Norwegian. Aurora Borealis is also something Norway (and other Nordic countries) are quite known for. Due to this link people could easily start reading it as aurøra. So to decrease the likelihood of confusion, make the stoke a back slash instead.
I literally clicked on this video because I saw Jorge’s in the thumbnail and went “ohhh, pretty! What’s this video about?” And then realized it’s about the graphic design. I wish he’d leaned just a little more into either Art Deco or Art nouveau to add a little bit of design to balance out that bottom but I will admit my eye would have gone to it on a shelf as is. I’m in the creative field as a professional and honestly I think all of them are well done for different reasons🙌
Insane quality from all designers! Maybe it's my noobish point of view, but I really like all concepts, and I personally could accept any of them if it was my product.
Striking elements in all designs but I also lean towards Miguel 01. I also look at these not just as in shop but also in a bar lined up alongside other brands. Well done all
Having worked behind a bar throughout this whole gin revival thing, going from stocking 4 gins to 30+, all of these designs definitely follow the same path that the vast majority of these independent distilleries are taking. They're all fantastic, my personal pick would be Emma's, I think that Miguel's, while it would stand out being white, is otherwise a touch bland, but that's just my opinion. I do think they all run the risk of just blending in a bit, that's no fault of the designers, just the over saturation of the market as it stands. Trust me when I say that when you have 35 bottles of gin all lined up next to and behind each other, especially since the majority use the same style of bottle, it all just becomes muddy. That's why I think a more unique bottle design is just as important than the label, if not more so
The first one is probably the only one I would pick up in a shop because for me it was the most recognisable as 0% gin and looked high quality. I am not a designer at all, but I am tired of minimalist design.
Rich and Miguel's design is right up my alley. The playfulness or rich's design was just right and not overdone which is extremely tasteful while miguel's just speaks to you even without knowing anything about design, it's that good
It’s so cool seeing all these different designs , but I love Jorge’s the most out of them all because it had some color , minimal, beautiful type and cool design … but overall they all did really good !
I'd go with Miguel's san-serif layout 1 design because of the clean look against the white (with the fact that Gin is clear) and the abstract nature of the two symbols either side. Minimal in colour and not too busy. Classy, clear to understand and to the point. Well done, Miguel!
The third entry (Miguel) misspells alcohol as ALCHOOL on both bottles. Heh…. I mean, yes, is a design competition not a spelling one - just something to be careful about ;)
I am in favour of the clean minimalist look of Miguel’s. I feel the darker backgrounds could get lost amongst each other and the white background with the dark blue logo will really catch the eye.
I have a problem with all of these packages in that the bottles are clear. Would have been nice if the container were also part of the design. I know that there are some Gins that have clear containers but the lux ones seem to have colored bottles. Plus, they missed the opportunity to use a bottle wrap to project that infinite space feeling that some were trying to capture. All said and done though, liked the designs and thought they were well thought out.
No.2 Colour wise and just the overall feel to it I like no.2 especially because of that blue and gold. Font wise no.4 the one with no caps. I feel no.3 the white colour one to be too simplistic. I cant really see how the sun and moon look, is there a colouring on the sun side and just a cut out for the moon. But the moon being a cut out would look great on no.2 I thinn with that night sky colour, and maybe gold foil for the sun. Maybe the stars are cut out, I imagine it could look pretty cool under the right lighting since the drink itself is clear. But I also really like how the first one has a very clear hierarchy especially with that huge 0% right under the brand. The mythology illustration would also look good in gold foil against dark blue like no.2 This is honestly difficult, but I'll go with number 2 just because it left the deepest impression on me based on the short video. I think mostly for the colour, the dark blue immediately makes you think of the night sky, and the gold while can be interpreted as as star it reminds me a lot more of the sun because for 1 its gold and 2 how the lins radiate. So I think it's a very good way to incorporate those 2 without it being too literal.
Although Will prefered the bottle with the white label with the more modern minimalist design, that label made me think of Vodka rather than Gin. I preferred the white label with the more classic design.
I like the first one by Ink the best. I think the traditional gin design with the sort of rainbow/holo colors feels like an innovation/a new twist on an old classic. I think that's very much what non-alcoholic gin is. A new fashioned idea trying to slot into a traditional role / habit. The third one by Miguel is my second favorite but I don't think it accurately conveys "gin". If I saw that as a consumer, I would assume it was vodka.
6:49 the 0 in the Aurora typography is pretty neat. But i wouldn´t recognize this on the first look in the marketshelf. Is there some way to change the r to an actual % symbol? This would maybe add the nuance the shopper would need to see the 0% alcohol directly. Btw I like this concept the most
I am gonna vote for this design 6:39 it looks so elegant, luxury, the style of the font he used I like it very much (I think he used San Fransisco, sorry if I'm wrong) And the vector image he used is perfectly matches to the brand.
I think the first bottle label design is beautiful... and deco looking, beautiful colors. But I guess design-wise I would take the brutal logo with those cool planet shapes opposite each other!
Miguel design looks more like a bottle of a skin care product or a fancy hair product rather then something to drink. Design is great btw. My vote would be more for JorgeC bottle. His design was my favorite.
Would like to see a place to see the Logo design requirements handed out to the artist for these videos, so I can try and come up with a design before watching the video to see how my attempt holds up with the ones shown. Would be fun.
Mate, this is a competition for the design of a label and packaging, it's not art - it's communication using artistic principles. Plus, there have been art competitions with popular votes for decades, I don't think this is the nail in the coffin of creative expression
10:16 As a Scandinavian slashed-o`s don`t work for me unless it is meant to be pronounced as a slashed-o "Ø", so my inner voice pronounces this as something like "AurOEra"
All of these looks incredibly straight forward yet amazing. I skimmed through the video, but wouldn’t placing your design on the bottle the the most difficult part? Drawing the bottle, the lighting on the label etc.
Omg!! All of them are pro designer but Miguel & Emma was in other level ( in my opinion) One more thing This is the kind of videos I love to watch...please keep making this kinda videos doesn't matter how much the price amount is? But when someone get paid they work for real....👍👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥💘💘💘💘
These were all amazing. But, hands down for me, Emma won this. The logo is memorable. The colors are amazing. I love these videos and hearing why you like things, you are always a fair and kind reviewer of the designs!
hello man love ur videos, i just wanna say there is no such a thing as vertical arabic text or logos cause arabic letters needs to be linkes to form a sentence
All of the submissions were solid but to me the last two were easily at the bottom. The styles of both weren’t really on trend for right now and reminded me a bit of stock library designs.
I like the Roman mythology one, but I would have put the % sign inside the "O" of AURORA. There's enough space to do so, and would explain clearly that it's a non alcoholic drink
I felt like Miguel’s looked a little generic, and none of them wanted me to purchase. They felt disjointed to me. The mythology was cool, but more consumers wouldn’t know that, so feels like a little waste of good quality work. I wondered if you were actually able to use that though copyright. It doesn’t need to be literal, with auroras but it will make sense to consumers. You said Emma’s 0 percent would been seen in shops but then said we’d get it with the sun and moon, which I didn’t even know where sun and moon. When I think of looking up at the stars I don’t automatically think mythology, light colours for sure or the sun… You really have be really careful with the proof of quality, as what proof is there? There’s normally accreditations for things like this. But they’re great for consumers and to persuaded them. This is why I say packaging is crucial in marketing. My fav was definitely the second! For sure! I’d buy This as present because it was so pretty and would def catch my eye. The last felt a little cheap to me and would be sold in Aldi. Really happy we saw 3rd and 4th MADE their own typefaces and graphics. As long as the designers KNOW they’re in a competitor and it’s out there for the world to see, this is pretty cool! I might check out this service!
Surely Emma won this. Her skill is clearly above the others as she makes all of her own assets, instead of downloading them. The design was so crisp too.
I know I am in the minority but Ink aka Matt's design is my favorite. From a marketing standpoint, it would be the easiest to build a solid campaign around. Although a little generic it still works really well. Followed by Jorge's design for 2nd. Miguel's is great but as far as Gin, it seems more like vodka or tequila.
In Miguel's 2nd design with the Roman engraving, what does he mean by "image bank"? And when a company gets a license for a detailed design like that, can other companies still use that same engraving? Much thanks!
I personally dislike the usage of ø in asthetic purposes for o, as it’s a different letter and changes the pronunciation (as far as I know, I’m not actually fluent in a language that uses ø, for example norwegian). I would not think that the one saying aurøra would mean that it’s 0%.
I know we designers have let it slide for a while over the last few years, but to be clear: brand identity or corporate identity is not the design, it's the dogma of the brand. Brand design or corporate design is the visual appearance of the brand = the design.
I'm not really a fan of tilting my head to see what's on the bottle, so Miguel's first design is off the table first. Weird, considering it's the best in your opinion... Does show how hard this job is.

Small correction, because the capitalisation matters, is Au, not AU.
@@nextlifeonearth Yes but not in a general format, like branding

I think it’s because the brief said night sky. So you’d expect to see more space and more of the sky. Not bright, white and lots of sun.

Nice one here!

Here in Brazil we have a wine brand called Aurora, and what Miguel did in the second design, reminds me a lot that brand
8:25 the thing that really bothers me here, is that the 0% is not really visible enough, if at all.
Wow...great job EVERYONE! I would have to go with #4 and #3 as a backup.
best design is definitely the Roman Numeral white design, really well done looks like it should be on the shelf. great video was a good watch

All of the designs are super high quality, love them all. I might have missed it during the video, but how much did you pay for each of these?
Just wanted to say that I love the atmosphere of you background so MUCH!
5:11 The designer put 1l but the bottle said 750ml not a big deal just pointing it out

When I think of looking up at the stars I don’t automatically think mythology, light colours for sure or the sun…
You really have be really careful with the proof of quality, as what proof is there?
The design was so crisp too.
love it!, more of this
I know I am in the minority but Ink aka Matt's design is my favorite. From a marketing standpoint, it would be the easiest to build a solid campaign around. Although a little generic it still works really well. Followed by Jorge's design for 2nd. Miguel's is great but as far as Gin, it seems more like vodka or tequila.
The last Design is my favourite one
i like matt and jorges designs the most although all of them were super cool
I think Jorge’s design (the one you liked) reminds me of an already existing Tequila bottle 😯 So it just says tequila to me lol
My favorite is the fourth!
I love your designs, i see every video of you, thank you
In Miguel's 2nd design with the Roman engraving, what does he mean by "image bank"? And when a company gets a license for a detailed design like that, can other companies still use that same engraving? Much thanks!
@Will Peterson Can you give us please the links to the designers (website or instagram)? Thanks!
Thank you for the flash warnings!
Thank you for that flash warnings ♥
The typography in Miguels 2nd design looks the same as a Brazilian wine brand also named Aurora, Vinhos Aurora.
