I like the first one or the 4th one. The problem with the last one is that although it's very original, you don't really understand what the product is about unless you start reading the label, I like to see what the sorbet looks like before buying so having a preview image of the product that is inside would be better in my opinion.

I would grab the first one
The colour palette is minimal and refreshing
Theres a picture of the product that appears in a playful way
The little sticky is negotiable and removeble
And pink gives an airy feeling as opposed to the others that are heavy and sorbet is a light dessert

    • @pizzablender
      @pizzablender ปีที่แล้ว +1

I like the sticky branch but it needs work. Can use optical scaling according to use/size. If done well the T-with-branch by itself would be very recognizable.

I really love the Design from HarryGraphics. And the T with the little branch is genius - Not only does it say "Treeze" but also "Freeze" just with a mirrored F. This is smart and I think it fits quite well and this detail is not too small to recognize it.

The reason why Miguel's logo works is... because it was a direct rip-off of the logo from a Portuguese food and beverage company called Compal. The original logo/branding of the company is really good. Maybe so good that he thought it was a good idea to steal it.

I Liked Hans' design the most. I thought it looked premium and really made you feel like it was a sorbet or ice cream brand while still showing that it has some sort of ecological, and nature elements to it. I thought the packaging looked good and I think it really hit the line between minimalism and realism good for me. Why I didn't believe in Pedro's Design as much is just because I didn't get the feeling of it being some sort of sorbet or ice cream. Felt more like a juice, or fruity drink for me.

Anna diaz did it best in my opinion, idk about you will but I don't view it as vintage tbh, i felt the premium luxurious aspect in the whole packaging especially the font used in California blend and the color palette.
I feel like the organic fruit sorbet circle adds a premium touch too to the playful logo which works perfectly in my opinion for a premium sorbet that is also ecological, i mean let's face it it's very hard to mix playfulness, premium and ecological into one logo but i feel like she managed to do so and still make it feel like a sorbet logo. Finally i absolutely love tue cherry leaves coming out of the ball of sorbet and i would love to see that in different flavours it gives a sense of uniqueness to each package which is always appreciated in consumable brands.
For me she s the winner and the one who fit the brief the most

Pedro's logo is the best one, but Ana's or Hans's packagings are cleaner and feel more premium to me.
Although Pedro's packaging is more original, it looks a little crowded. It's very hard to get that we are talking about Ice cream.
And the color pallet doesn't fit well either. It's more like what we see on a graphic designer portfolio, than on shelves.

I really love Hans' design, the 4th one. I love the simplicity and elegance. The emblem in the logo is fantastic! It really pulls all the elements from the brief together. I like the limited color palette. It would be really easy to modify the palette for different flavors, which gives it more versatility. The 5th design just doesn't work for me. It's too busy with the wider color palette, and the design elements are too generic. It makes me think vegan cosmetics or hair care, not sorbet.

Personally, I judge a logo by the impression it gives to make me remember it. Hans does that for me. Every time I have thought about these logos, the one that I remember first and more is that one. The way the Treeze is written looks like freeze and the snowflake tree thingy as well as the different fruits on the tree stamps the uniqueness of the product in my mind. Even though the way the tree stands dead centre, dividing the word into two, looks awkward, it makes the impression last more. I am sure anytime I remember Treeze, Han's logo will come to mind.

Hans has great packaging, however, the trunk going between the EE really doesn’t do it for me and the fruit in the snowflake are a bit small. Anna should’ve put the snowflake hands on the T in white vs the red background.. too much red.

WOW. Pedro's design blew me away. The logo type looks heavily inspired by Symphony. The logo type has a ton of character when I read it, I read it like how I would say something when I'm freezing, you know, when your teeth are chattering. Also AMAZING design and color pallete, there's a ton of elements that can be used for the brand identity and it used the 3D aspect of packaging very well. The others were all focused on the front but Pedro's design wrapped around the whole package. So in love with that color palette it makes the sorbet look enticing

I loved #3 (Miguel's work). I think it hit the minimalistic but complex case really well. I do wish though, that the accent had been blue, and the leaves had been green. It would've made an impact.
Imagine it with me. The lid is blue, and has green leaves and vines around it. Now your eyes are being drawn towards the logo. The logo being as it is shown, but with the leaves a dark green, the company name in solid blue, and the arms left the same.
Likely not good, but in my head it looks good, haha!

The one on number 3 with the tree logo. Great logo design for the most part but not only have they used to many fonts but also the wrong type of fonts there’s no boldness there for a consumer to see what the brand is once they’re drawn in. I like the colours but there’s too much space left over, everything’s far too small and illegible.
I’ve been in the packaging industry for 10 years and genuinely I’ve made these mistakes. If you’re wanting to get into packaging design, always know that you yourself are a consumer. You’ve just got to tap into the “why do I like this brand” mentality, You’ll figure it out!

The font on the second one is…. I don’t know the word I’m looking for here. Messy? Confusing? The r and the z are almost not distinguishable from each other at first glance (The cursive writing). The font on the packaging looks like a total clumped up mess, and somehow the designer has managed to make the ice cream look like the wax seal used on that foolish book “The Secret”.

  • @GilliMarieMoody

With respect, the first one had the wonderful fat, snow⛄️like font. The second one, the font you love, I feel that the letters are overlapping and/or half hidden by the slanted burgundy colour, causing the reader to do more work. The third one has a nice, but “summery” logo, and the ice cream shot does not look appetizing. The fourth one is restrained, but works. The last one is the best.

I honestly really dig HarryGraphics' design the most. It has that retro feel with the color scheme and font type, but modern look with the little branch on the T, leaves in the spaces of the lowercase E's, a very 3D-looking scoop of sorbet, and implied tree trunk just below the sorbet. Makes it look classy, which is the best way to describe luxury but on a down-to-earth level, in my opinion. Also, a classy style is ageless, so this design would last a really long time, with perhaps minimal changes made to match the times.

The second logo has the best lid, but the flavor name in the mock-up is way too large and I hate how California gets cut off. The third one reads very apparel or shoe company to me rather than food with the rough font. The last one looks like it would go in a Trader Joe’s, however the colors are a little dark, don’t read ice cream to me and make me think of tropical foods. It’s a little too busy in my opinion.

Hey quick question! I'm a college student who wants to be a graphic designer but I unfortunately majored in Business Administration. What do you recommend I do?

    • @tulp_graphics
      @tulp_graphics 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Self-study maybe? I've been a high school teacher for years and also decided to become a graphic designer, but doing the full study now is not an option. I'm still in the process of switching careers, but I'm already working on projects for family/friends of friends to learn and practice, which helps a lot. I've bought a lot of books about it, take courses, watch tutorials and practice all kinds of stuff. Maybe other designers would give different advice, but this is what I'm doing. :-) Good luck! 🍀

Miguel's logo is actually a rip of from a portuguese brand called Compal. The leef position matches perfectly. I cant say for sure, but if you were to find out his location hed be from Portugal. Miguel is a tradicionally portuguese name

The key drawback to Pedro's is that it's not immediately obvious whether it's ice cream or sorbet. You have to hunt for that on the lid, which would often require taking it out the freezer as that info would be obstructed by the shelf above. Even then, the word "sorbet" is only mentioned once, and it's tucked away in a long circle of text in a way that positions it as upside-down to the natural way of viewing the lid (logo right side up). This introduces unnecessary cognitive load and interaction cost: users who struggle to read text upside-down will have to rotate the tub to find this info - especially demanding for those with dyslexia (~10% of the population).
All that's needed is to get the word "sorbet" surfaced on the front face and rim (especially as the design is atypical for sorbet) and to position the existing instance more prominently on the lid with the same orientation as the logo. Other than that, love the aesthetic!

I'm not a designer myself, but...
The third one seems to have the most interesting logo, though I wonder if it might be a bit busy with as many leaves as it has.
The packaging for number five is, in my opinion, the best. It might be a touch busy, but it's very clean and is interesting to the eye.
The packaging for one and two are nice, but the first one probably has a bit too much text in it and it makes it hard to know where to focus. Though the eye does initially centre on the logo, so that's a good point. The second one, other than the cherries and the logo I don't really like it. The blend of the text is interesting, but the font will probably be hard to read from further away.
The thing I like about number four is that it's not overly busy. There's effective use of neutral space and I also like how the logo merges with the packaging, though the logo itself is a bit busy.
EDIT: After reading PuppeteerNG's comment, I have to agree that it's a bit difficult to tell what's being sold with the packaging of number five. However, since it's going to be sold in the frozen dessert section, it's not difficult to tell what you're buying. But PuppeteerNG still makes a very good and valid point.
