The New Peter looks more realistic but I prefer the old one. It has more personality and is more unique plus the voice fits better but that's just me

We are so close to 100% photorealism in games. Textures on consoles have improved drastically over the past generation, and I can’t really imagine how much better it will get.
Yeah, graphics in the future can't possibly get a lot better. I'm sure people said it for stuff like the Spiderman PS2 game, but logically they can't get much better. The human eyes can only see certain things.
The real revolutions in the future would be a much bigger world, better AI, and maybe more accurate maps to the real world.

@@iluvvbluu4463 I’m personally very excited for PS5 VR. It will be miles above the old model for sure. The current PSVR came out in like 2016. I think VR might just be worth it this generation. We might not have games like RDR2 but smaller games can still provide great experiences.
60 FPS Performance RT mode now exists for this game. It is by far the best way to play

It has to do with the better Sub Surface Scattering algorithm. As the light penetrating the skin it gets diffused and bleeds into into the shadow portion of of skin winkles and pores, this lightens their apparent shadow and thus softens and lessens the apparent contrast and details of the skin.

I'm good with textures in games now. What I want is to see the suits you wear take damage during fights and much more destructible environments. For all games. I want to see the wear and tear on your characters based on where they've been hit and such. I want to get thrown threw a random wall in any fight. That'd be dope

Same for me it was odd. Because the torn suit looked fine but when you use the repaired version it almost looks like he just got the material/color from a 🏀 or even a dragonball.
This is why I preferred the Stark suit to it.

The remastered looks pretty impressive, what's not impressive is that Peter's new face model (no offense nor disrespect to the actor who do facial capture performance), he looks like he's still in the high school.
I like his new face, but he looks too young. Like, 7 years too young.

Its not just that he looks really young. What really bugs me is that he looks too perfect for a guy who can't get a sleep and gets punched and shot at every day. I feel like they really nearly made a perfect remaster for this. If anything, I think they just went too far on some things that didn’t need fixing - like I think some of the new lighting choices were a little drastic and hurt the direction of some scenes and I don’t think the complete overhaul of peters model was really necessary.

I think my only problem with pete's new face is that he looks uncomfortably younger than miles. it feels wrong looking at miles and peter in the same shot cause miles look about two years older than him. I mean this is supposed to be a peter with 8 years of experience, now he looks like he just got his super powers. 😐 I think it would of been better if they gave us the choice to choose who you want your peter to look like the new one or the older lookin one but with a few improvements like changing his eyebrows hair strands etc...
For me, it's clear this was not an "artistic" change. Its purely based on marketing, they want a model that looks similar to Tom Holland. But... it's weird how they didn't aged his face. I don't really mind the changing that much, I honestly prefer the nerdy face of Holland (subjective tastes and etc)... but the fact he does not look old, that clashes with the plot. A flaw like this isn't something subjective.
I like the model now, and I think miles and Peter look about the same age.
But the age looks a tiny bit off...

@@FFContent Actually, both petes have the benefit of being designed the face capture, because they're based on real people. Bubniak was the first model for original Peter, but the development team decided to replace him with Ben Jordan as they determined it'd suit the expressions, dialogue, speaking and face capture motion more accurately, as Yuri voices him.

Talking about the water effect, Arkham Knight is ahead of both the Spiderman game versions. The rain effect in that game is still one of the best I've ever seen.

I wish they had just added the extra detail to the old face model. It’s not just because I was used to that face as Spider-Man, but mostly because it just works. This is supposed to be a seasoned, veteran Spider-Man. You can see the stress, the wear and age in his expression, which makes it work because despite only being in his early 20’s, he’s burdened a lot of responsibility. The reason Tom Holland works for the movies is because he looks like a young Spider-Man just starting out, which is the character he is playing. Using his model here is why that’s a problem, he looks young. His voice doesn’t match, his head looks too small at times, his expressions look goofy often (I get a “peanut allergy” vibe from him), and most importantly he doesn’t look like he’s aged into being a superhero like the older model. All in all, I still think this was a weird decision on Insomniac’s part. The idea behind a Spider-Verse is that there are different, unique and distinct Spider-Men in their respective universe, so it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense why we need a Tom Holland type Spider-Man in the game when it’s a completely different story from the Tom Holland movies. If anything, I wish like suits we had the option to use his older model for his mask-off scenes

One of the best games I've purchased on PC. It runs flawlessly and looks so much better than the original release.
The level of detail in these new games are so easy to look over and miss, yet the developers still go the extra mile to render in a blood vessel in a nostril in Tom Holland's nose and rendering each individual hair stand. Bravo Insomniac.

That’s amazing, when I was playing Miles Morales I specifically compared Fidelity mode to Performance mode in the scene where you first go inside the broken Roxxon window. It’s clear that F mode causes the reflection of the building to your right to reflect perfectly off of the floor in that scene. But for some reason it didn’t click in my head that that also meant you would be able to see near perfect reflections of EVERYTHING off of EVERY reflectable surface in the game as well as other visual enhancements. That’s really awesome

I just don't understand why they had to change his face, and it's not that the new face looks bad, if anything it looks absolutely incredible that it's kinda scary lol (or maybe that's just the remastered game's graphics, the old face still conveys emotion better and more naturally in general). It's just that the new face is too young to fit a seasoned, mature Peter who's been Spider-Man for quite some time. It looks like a newly post-puberty European teen's head pasted on a grown man's body to be honest. Plus more importantly, this just isn't the same Peter that we connected with all those years ago; the sense of continuity is gone.
I would disagree on the emotion part. The face is way more realistic and natural looking in every aspect and feels way less automated than the last one.

The Old Peter fits better, he looks like having a life crisis problem which is relatable unlike the new one who really looks like his stress free.
I like the look of the old one in pretty much every side by side comparison. More detail does not equal a nicer picture.
The old look even though it might not be more realistic graphic wise, it was better in the context of the story for sure, because it gave the feeling of a more mature Peter with a few years of being the friendly spider and all.
The weird thing is most of the character models that aren’t Spider-Man look worse. Martin Lee looks like he’s wearing makeup. Fisk looks pale. The NPCs you shared look like they’re missing color in their faces as well.
Its not the model, its the difference of lighting placing in both game. Li looks like wearing makeup because his face has more interaction with lighting in the remastered. So does the npc

@@Lakrimoz whole idea was for him to be seen as becoming evil, thats why it was so dark, now they just messed it up to be fair, love everything in the change apart from the baby face and some of the lightning that was used for effect
I think the reason why the water was toned down more was so that in the scene after Octavious throws Spider-Man off the Raft building. It made it so it didn’t look like he was drowning when hanging on to a broken pipe like in the previous version.

The use of raytracing is certainly the 1st thing I noticed in terms of “next-gen graphics.” Once I switched between fidelity & performance it was like night & day for reflections and it really adds a sense of believability to the world. The 2nd standout was load times, it takes like 4 seconds to fast travel (screen fades then he instantly walks out of the subway) and they don’t even have to play that train sequence anymore
Which do u think is the best option??
@@benhaywood6765 I flip flop between performance & graphics for many games, but for Spiderman since it’s single player I stuck with graphics mode for 95% of it and didn’t really notice a huge fluctuation in frame rate so the 30 fps didn’t seem distracting or choppy at all personally. Performance mode does feel smoother but you’ll be seeing lots of building reflections in the open-world & plenty of levels are set in smaller spaces and the raytracing really shines there

@@dillondodson6275 yeah you can turn it back on. I did so i can take some funny screenshots and the fact that i love those little cutscenes. But you can just click x to continue after it loads in like 2 seconds.

What lighting settings were you on because my version is so much darker!
The new lighting makes the characters overly saturated and look less defined in some scenes

It’s most likely due to Ben Jordan having to redo all of the scenes with a new scan so he’s having to match Yuri Lowenthal’s motion capture

I really wanted to enjoy this remaster but the new Spider-Man face just blew it for me, he looks like a child rather than a matured Spider-Man

Tbh I really like Peter's new face, the details are pretty cool. The only problem I have with it is that it looks way less expressive than the original one
I think overall it looks better but for this game it doesn't fit. It makes Peter look 14 or 15 and look a few years younger than miles. And when he is with MJ it looks like she is his mom. I personally they should of just touched up the old face instead. This new fave is good for flashbacks but that's about it. Would be perfect for a spiderman who is still in highschool though.

Does the new performance RT on SMM included for remaster?
I’m on the ps5 but I can’t see any of the fidelity or performance options in the settings, am I missing something?
I have a guess as to why all the textures are better in the remastered like the trash can and what not. Its probably because they had gotten these really high detailed texture scans or designed them with a lot of detail and then just downsampled them for the game. With this in mind it probably wasn't that hard to just switch out the textures for the originals or closer to the originals that before.
Pretty sure the opening is early morning not evening cause Spider-Man keeps doing morning/breakfast quips during the fights at Fisk Tower, enjoying Morales on my PS5 rn, can't wait to play this after. Great video

There would be no point in that, Peter has been recast and with both remastered and Miles Morales Ben Jordan is now THE face of Peter Parker going forward, it’s like Edward Norton being replaced by Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, having Mark suddenly be replaced by Edward or filming all of Banner’s scene twice just for the people who prefer Edward’s performance fundamentally wouldn’t make sense and would be both logically impractical and financially foolish

Like.....you can still watch the edward norton hulk movie with all of these special "HD 4k" whatever's, it's still edward norton......idk where I was going with that. But I think it'd be nice just as an option. Like......I get that the new Pete will be the NEW Pete, but kinda like the master chief collection, and how you can swap between old and new graphics, I wanna be able to swap between old and new Peter

I liked the ps4 version better of characters. I think that the ps5 version does look much more realistic, which can be hard to pull off well. The small details are nice, but I think the characters looked better before. They could’ve just improved the lightning and details on the old characters, IMO :)

BTW don't wanna be that guy, but I prefer the way the PS4 Peter looks, fits the role much better BUT I love that they also switched out the head in the remastered version to make the change more convenient.

I feel like the details on new Peter aren't as noticeable because he's chalk white. You really have to zoom in to see the details and his facial features blends together.
What software are you recording on? OBS, Premiere Pro, etc?
We can all agree this game never needed a remaster.
