Mother of Pearl, or shell buttons look wonderful with that Scott’s Pine yarn. The iridescent pearly colours look lovely and pick up that blue green color. Thank you the lovely tee discussion!
There is indeed a popular opinion that lace and especially cables should be knitted with light colors, otherwise the pattern would be lost, so why waste your time with the pattern. Well... In my opinion it depends on what you want to emphasize, and there's nothing wrong with using the pattern, be it as complex as it may, emphasize a dark yarn color. I think dark garments with lace and/or other texture can look extremely elegant, much more so than light versions of the same pattern so I'd do it. (I've actually planned one item of this kind, I just need to kind of, eh... complete a gazillion projects before getting to it.)
The Shore Tee has been in my queue for so long - the lace is so pretty! I'm so envious that merino is a summer fiber for your climate I would need to be hooked up to an IV for fluids if I tried wearing wool in the summer. I'm living vicariously through you!!!!!
Very inspirational ! Thank you. I really like the seaside tee from Cocoamourknitwear. It has a nice saddle shoulder and it fits perfectly.. It is a very versatile pattern. Greetings from Belgium 😊
Oh Vanissia, I generally don't comment on peoples appearance BUT this time I need to tell you - you are glowing!! Your makeup and your hair back in combination with your tee is stunning! 😍
I just finished the Brooklyn raglan lite by Tori yu in 100% cotton and it turned out great! I’m currently making the twist loop top by other loops and about to cast on the Stevie Top by Debbie Bliss. I have yarn ready to go for a moon set too! Fun fun fun! Can’t wait to see some of your new tees!
the mojave color looks stunning! 🩵 great plans 😊 when I knitted the anker summer blouse I didn’t add short rows and I also wouldn’t recommend really it, since it’s already relatively low in the front and since the neck opens up a bit more with wear i’ve never wished that I had added them, just as an fyi!
Wonderful watching and viewing thanks Vanissia, whilst knitting away on a Hanstholm sweater for adult son in the near winter here - NZ. Thanks for your great review of the Tees 🥰😃
Great inspiration video. I’m happy you went into more detail on the different yarns. I look forward to seeing the finished projects this summer. As for buttons. I feel like tortoise, bone, brown leather, or wood buttons would look great with the blue yarn.
Concerning color, I think you’ve got it. You can wear any color, but the light & dark wool colors you have chosen go beautifully with your complexion & your lovely eyes. Blues, greens & subtle purple colors are yours. As for black, you are full of life, your coloring is delicate, & black is the ultimate neutral. Go for it. When you are much older & your coloring changes, black may further wash you out instead of complimenting. If you are unsure about wearing all black, remember that a black tee or camisole always goes well under a blazer, cardigan, or jacket, where only a bit of the black is visible. Love your patterns & yarn discussion, ❤
Thanks for the great video! So so so much inspiration 🤩 for the KFO pure silk, if you’re looking to replace the poet tee with another Sari Nordlund pattern, I saw that she’ll be releasing a Rococo Raglan Tee in June. I think it would be stunning in black and it uses just one strand of the pure silk. ☺️
For the buttons for your Henley, I would use the back of pearl buttons, that is the dark side. I don’t think you want a high contrast button. And you look totally golden today! Just lovely
This was perfect inspo! I also bought Stardust from Zakami, so so pretty 😍 I think there's a lot of button options for the roadtripper tee, maybe gold or silver for a bit more of a dressed up look? Or black or wood for a more "casual" look? I hope that makes sense 😅
watching this now while knitting a poppy tee :) I really enjoy it, knitting with cardiff cashmere, but turning a tee into a sweater by lengthening the sleeves. Love the poppy tee so much , I will make another one with short sleeves in sunday by sadndes garn. The other pattern I would love to knit is a Roadtripper Tee by Ozetta, but still thinking how to shape the sleeves better in that pattern (I don't like that the sleeves are pointing diagonally outwards). So once I figure out how to make the short rows in the sleeves, I ll make that one as well.
yes very good point about the sleeves, i also prefer short rows there ! think a few patterns have some so could copy the instructions. And love the idea of a cashmere long sleeved poppy tee !
Hi Vanissia, I love watching your podcast. There is an authenticity about you and originality in your thought process that makes your channel so appealing to me .. anyway, I have an idea for your KFO silk - have you seen the HeatWave Set on rav? The pattern is a bundle with three lace garments in it - a tank, a tee and a cardi. The pattern sample is black and others have made it in the KFO silk. Can recommend the tee, I made one in cotton and wear it all the time in summer in Australia.. thank you for your content 🙏
I made the Anker’s Summer Shirt last year and I love it! I used an old Rowan cotton yarn from my stash and it fits really nicely. Another suggestion for you that I have just finished this year is the Pyramid n the Round by Minimi Knit Design. It features twisted rib and I really enjoyed knitting it. I used Wool Dreamers Saona - it is so soft and easy to wear. Happy knitting!
I enjoyed the video. I made the Moonset Slipover and really like that V neck design. For the Roadtripper I would go with blue buttons that mesh/coordinate well with your yarn color. I find that the eye is drawn to contrasting buttons, emphasis being on the buttons instead of the knit.
Have you considered paua /abalone shell buttons to go with your scots pine kinross 4 ply. Enjoyed your tee and yarn picks, always good to hear peoples views on how alternative yarns will or will not work.
I made the So Summer top a couple of summers ago and it’s possibly my fav wearable I’ve made for myself. I made it out of Universal Yarn Wool Pop (a bamboo, wool, nylon mix) which wasn’t the suggested fibres but I love the drape and feel
Hi Vanissia, I was so sad I missed the knit chat on discord (2 minutes after went on, it finished, totally my fault), next time I will put it on my calendar! About Line, I must say I love it, haven't tried Tynn Line, but I guess it is the same. It feels a bit rough at the beginning but then just settles in. It is breathable and I can wear it in NYC summer with very high humidity and 30+°C, You put it on a mesh bag and throw it in the washing machine, it is magic! . Fiber for Tees is about where you live, I can't wear any merino/alpaca/cashmere from May to August sometimes September too. About black color, I think you can totally wear it, with your nice hair color and blue eyes, STUNNIG!!
I just used KFO pure silk for a Knus Light which I loved. The textures on Knus Light was helpful with the silk since plant fibers show all uneven stitches. It does relax a bit so my top is less snug than I had planned. I've also use SG Line, not Tynne Line, with similar relaxation/drape issues. The Line felt really nice, maybe due to the addition of viscose. Both tops are seamless so that may also contribute to the fit issue. My plan is to knit something with seams next time with plant fibers.
Hi Vanissia. Thanks a lot for the video and the inspiration. I think Scots Pine would work great as a contrast colour for the Colour Tip tee. I love your colour choices. Stardust and Flamingo are amazing.
You could try the pigeon wishes moon flint buttons for the road tripper tee. They’re kind of like oyster shell buttons but with a more silvery-green sheen
I think a navy blue would look great with the deep sea green merino if you need a different color for the trim. Or a grey. Pink and green also always pair well together but that would be more of a statement and high contrast.
Thanks for another inspiring video. Regarding the Anker Tee, do you know the tutorial of Tash (Mostly Knitting podcast) on how to add short rows to it? I suppose you don't need this tutorial but I find it very helpful. 😂
I think the lace Sari Nordlund tee would be so beautiful if you have enough yardage! You could always knit the fingering weight Tolsta tee by the Creabea in the yarn because that pattern is a bit of a yarn eater. Also, the reason why the drops belle is scratchy to you is because of the linen. Linen softens a lot as you wear it, so if the line seems scratchy it should eventually soften!
for the ankers tee with the different dye lots - since you’re holding it double you can always just hold one strand of each dye lot!! (unless that’s what you meant in which case, ignore me haha)
I'm knitting the anker and I would definitely swatch a ribbing sample to see how the yarn looks. I'm not a huge swatch knitter lol but wish I would have bc my first 2 yarn choices for this just didn't look good. My ribbed stitches looks uneven and just messy.
I love these planning videos! Tees are not really on my list (yet) as I always wash tops that touch my armpits after just one wear. Not sure I want to do that with handknits? Maybe I should look into very oversized tees which is my style anyways. Regarding the Tynn Line - I have knitted a couple projects in Tynn Line held double and also Line. In my opinion you get a much nicer, softer, more drapey fabric with Tynn Line held double. I am currently holding one strand of Tynn Line with a Merino/Cashmere/silk lace and the fabric feels fantastic. Its for a stripe-less Slanty Stripes by Emily Curtis. I hope it ends up wearing well too 🤞 For the black KFO silk how about a Tolsta with eyelets? I think the yardage would work.
Some knitters find that their rib looks better on the wrong side rather than the right side and use short rows to switch inside to outside. Tash @mostly knitting has tutorials for both adding short rows to the back and reversing your rib 👩🌾🐑
V, How in the world do yourself you pick your yarns to go together. I have mostly DK dolls and several sweater quantities of lace, as well as 20 50grams of silk/mohair. I am petrified and need to overcome my fear. Do you have any hints. I'm the 72 year old lady that learned how to knit one and a half years ago. You just jump right on in the fracas but where did you get your guts? You inspire me!!! Jo
thank you Jo ! I get so much inspiration from other people, and save things to go look back on later all the time ! I've got a 50/50 ratio of knits i consider a success and knits im not a huge fan of, so it's really trial and error !
I would not recommend to knit the poetry in black. It is not a very easy pattern. You need to see details. I did the sweater in dark grey. I think, this is a better option.
Mother of Pearl, or shell buttons look wonderful with that Scott’s Pine yarn. The iridescent pearly colours look lovely and pick up that blue green color. Thank you the lovely tee discussion!
thank you, that would be very lovely indeed !

yes, completely agree !
The Shore Tee has been in my queue for so long - the lace is so pretty! I'm so envious that merino is a summer fiber for your climate I would need to be hooked up to an IV for fluids if I tried wearing wool in the summer. I'm living vicariously through you!!!!!
lmao, it is one of the pros !
Very inspirational ! Thank you. I really like the seaside tee from Cocoamourknitwear. It has a nice saddle shoulder and it fits perfectly.. It is a very versatile pattern. Greetings from Belgium 😊
yessss love that tee !
Oh Vanissia, I generally don't comment on peoples appearance BUT this time I need to tell you - you are glowing!! Your makeup and your hair back in combination with your tee is stunning! 😍
Agree 👍 😊
aw thank you for saying !! That's so sweet !
I don't either comment on personal usually, or at all, but your beautiful blues eyes were sparkling brightly. 👁🗨😇
Great listen. Love the Henley one. Enjoy knitting
Thank you! 😊
The Sassy V Neck looks absolutely beautiful on you in that vibrant blue!
thank you, im obsessed !
Can’t wait to see some of your new tees!
oh yes, i considered the brooklyn lite, the skyline tee, and patterns by other loops too ! So many good ones out there, and so little time !
the mojave color looks stunning! 🩵 great plans 😊 when I knitted the anker summer blouse I didn’t add short rows and I also wouldn’t recommend really it, since it’s already relatively low in the front and since the neck opens up a bit more with wear i’ve never wished that I had added them, just as an fyi!
thank you for the tip !! The neckline does look quite vide like you say ! My palme tee also stretched out a lot at the neck with drops belle
Have you seen the Tolsta tee by the creabea? There is soon to be a KAL as she is releasing some more variations to the pattern
yes, a little too plain for me but maybe the fingering weight with some handdyed !
The color of the tee you are wearing really compliments you. Your skin is glowing. Beautiful. 😊
Oh thank you! that's so sweet!
Wonderful watching and viewing thanks Vanissia, whilst knitting away on a Hanstholm sweater for adult son in the near winter here - NZ. Thanks for your great review of the Tees 🥰😃
ahh this is on my list ! hopefully before next year lol
I love all your choices and very well explained. I always am able to follow you so easily and with my adhd that's not always true! Thanks so much 💙
aw that's so sweet, thank you!
I think pearl buttons or maybe even gold buttons (if it’s your style ofc) would look really great with the darker blue in the roadtripper tee!
thanks ! will maybe try putting some pearl ones i have spare next to the fabric to see if it works !
Great round up. I live in Canada so I enjoyed you talking about the yarn too. Happy knitting.
Thank you! You too!
Great inspiration video. I’m happy you went into more detail on the different yarns. I look forward to seeing the finished projects this summer.
As for buttons. I feel like tortoise, bone, brown leather, or wood buttons would look great with the blue yarn.
Thank you so much! And yes, wood could be quite nice actually !

ahh how fun! Any plans for yours? And thanks for the ideas !
@thewoollyworker I'm thinking about doing the Mellow Puff top, the shoulder/sleeve construction looks fun! Also I'm a sucker for puffy sleeves 😁
I think wood buttons would be lovely with that tee.
Nice podcast!
thank you!

Loving that Moonset tee!

For the Henley shirt, I would try to match the button color to the yarn. I don't feel the buttons should stand out in this pattern.
i think i agree !
Very interesting video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi Vanissia! Thank you for this roundup
thanks for sharing !
I am knitting the shore tee while watching this 😆
oh fun!
for the ankers tee with the different dye lots - since you’re holding it double you can always just hold one strand of each dye lot!! (unless that’s what you meant in which case, ignore me haha)
haha yes, that was the goal ! thank you!
Very informative as usual, thank you
Thanks Erica x
Fabulous!
Madeleine Tosh, Color way “Barbara Deserves Better”, sport weight, would go great with your pink yarn, I think.
ohhh thanks!
oh my gosh that flamingo yarn is delicious! lol I've been planning on a ghost whisper shirt in hot pink for the longest time too! knit along!?!?
No idea when ill make mine, but go you! Will be stunning!
I'm knitting the anker and I would definitely swatch a ribbing sample to see how the yarn looks. I'm not a huge swatch knitter lol but wish I would have bc my first 2 yarn choices for this just didn't look good. My ribbed stitches looks uneven and just messy.
very good point, i need to see how it looks first because i suspect mine will be the same
Maybe you could use the black Knitting for Olive Pure Silk to make the So Summer?
yes, that could very well happen !
I'm knitting with a cotton merino with duo dk
I’m excited to watch this ❤
yay !
I would use rose or mauve with your dusty green yarn.
thank you! good idea
I love these planning videos! Tees are not really on my list (yet) as I always wash tops that touch my armpits after just one wear. Not sure I want to do that with handknits? Maybe I should look into very oversized tees which is my style anyways.

i ended up really liking the tynn line held double, you were right ! will maybe try holding it with merino next time

oh yes for sure ! I've actually done this on a few projects, and did like the results !

Tolsta tee in fingering or dk for the black silk?
i think it's a little too simple for me!
11:16 let me reword that as a fellow Scot: '"it's baltic'! 😅😅
lmao
🌈❤️
Hello however you 😊 India country 🇮🇳
I would not recommend to knit the poetry in black. It is not a very easy pattern. You need to see details. I did the sweater in dark grey. I think, this is a better option.
thanks for the feedback on that !
I agree, been lace knitting for years but this pattern beat me while I was trying the poet socks😢
