I love you Hannah Cardigan! The oversized fit is so gorgeous on you. If you're thinking of dyeing a finished knit garment I HIGHLY recommend dyeing up some skeins first, It can be hard to get even colors (especially tonals) without some practice, and I'd hate for you to knit something stunning and then be disappointed after you dye it!
When you get around to casting the Sandes Garn Gingham Sweater you should host a knit along! I'd love to knit it with you. It will be my first color work project!
In my country yarnshops are selling Sandnes books with just one skein of Sandnes as well. There is no need to buy for a certain pattern of each individual book.
One of the lovely ladies from Those twins who knit has made the artisane cardigan! I highly recommend watching her review of it and the FO. Great video as always ❤
Watching your video and when you mentioned suri alpaca I thought of Bramble Ridge 😊. Glad you mentioned them, it’s the softest suri yarn and so easy to use. ❤.
@@stringthingsbymel Yes, this is great advice, thank you. Do you have a formula that you use to calculate for lengths of fabric that are not fitting nicely into 20 cm (as in your example)? For example, I have now a pattern in which I have to knit enough rows to measure 23 cm. The gauge of my swatch is 31rows =10cm. How many rows do I need to knit?
I always like to break it down to "rows/cm" Example: 1) 31 rows ÷ 10 cm = 3.1 rows/cm 2) 3.1 rows/cm × 23 cm = 71.3 rows (round down or up; whichever works best for the pattern, ending on a rs or ws row, etc)
At the beginning of this episode I have just started a 2x2 ribbing sewn bind off. And I haven't even made it halfway through. Thanks for the company :D
Happy Birthday Mel 🎉 Regarding your issue of rowing out when working purl rows I always drop down a half needle size for my purl stitches eg. 4mm on one end of my cable & 3.5mm on the other. Obviously you will purl ONTO the smaller needle & not from it. I hope that makes sense 😂. Love your videos ❤🇬🇧
Thanks! This is exactly what I'm doing for my Paul Cardigan except I purl tighter than knit. With long rows on this one I definitely want the help in maintaining tension.
Hi. Love your vlogs and knitting ❤ will you spill the tea how to knit so fast as you or at least faster? I am 1,5 year in knitting now and it's getting faster but not as I wish.
Thanks so much for watching! Mechanically speaking, I'm not that quick of a knitter. I guess my "secret" is that I knit very consistently - nearly every day, and anywhere between 1 to 3 hours a day.
Have you seen Fleece and Harmony Caramel Apple colour available in their Point Prim sock yarn. I think it would be a goid match for your fluff. I know, too late, but keep it in mind for the future. I am enjoying your podcasts. Keep it up. Ruth
That was me complaining that I can’t find the Haley sweater pattern or the booklet 2111 anywhere 😅 Except at Mother Knitter that will give you the single pdf pattern (not even the booklet) if you buy $200+ worth of yarn for that specific pattern (so both Double Sunday + mohair) 😒 I’m obsessed with that sweater and it makes me so sad I can’t get the pattern 😭 ETA: If someone has a tip on how to get this pattern please share ❤
Oh no! I hope I don't find mine too itchy. I heard washing in conditioner or vinegar can help soften the fibers - have you tried any "softening" methods?
@@stringthingsbymel I have not tried conditioner or vinegar but have used a unscented lanolin laundry concentrate specific for yarn garments. Didn't find any difference. I will have to try vinegar or conditioner. It's not a huge deal breaker for me cause I always wear minimum a tshirt under my sweaters. I live in Saskatchewan so extra warmth is ok lol!
Hi, shop is Art of Yarn www.artofyarn.com/books/?mode=grid&sort=popular&brand=1646666 I've added the link and an alternative shop in the video description.

I'll definitely do some research and experimenting before dyeing any FOs. Thanks for the the tip!

Great episode Melissa! Lots of inspiration. Enjoy Toronto! ❤
Thank you! Will do!
One of the lovely ladies from Those twins who knit has made the artisane cardigan! I highly recommend watching her review of it and the FO. Great video as always ❤
Thanks for the recommendation; I'll definitely look into that!
The way I RAN to art of yarn’s website and ordered booklets. They’ve been sold out everywhere else!! Thank you for the tip!

Your advice to count rows instead of using a ruler/tape to measure is amazing. It's taken so much anxiety out of my knitting.Thank you.
You're welcome! It certainly makes knitting less stressful for me too.

I just bought the booklet so I can make the Artisane cardigan : ) Hope you do an in depth podcast about it if you knit it ! I adore it

Your projects and yarn selections are beautiful
No need to rush the "glowworm". It will be a perfect Grinch (in a good way) for the holidays!!!
Ooh I actually like that Grinch reference! I was wondering if this green would work for Xmas and that makes me feel better. Thanks!
TEMA means Theme. It's a special.
Happy Birthday Mel 🎉

@stringthingsbymel thank you for answering ☺️ I guess I need to organise myself better

I did decide to cast on, but I love discovering more hand dyers. Thank you!

For your Glowworm matching, have you considered La Bien Aimee Mondim in the colourway Kokko? Lovely projects that you are working on!
Thanks for the tip! I think Kokko may be too yellow so I've decided to cast on with what I have.
Curious what the vneck depth was for the cardigan? 5:08
Hi, my v-neck depth is ~25cm/10"
Happy Birthday!
Thank you!
Hope to meet you at Knitcity Toronto.
Please come say Hi if you see me! Would be lovely to meet you too.
@@stringthingsbymel I will be going on the Friday
