    Nice install! What is strange is I have a stock intake (other than a K&N filter) and I have never heard the woosh sound but I can hear it on my POV video when I jump on it. I guess the GoPro mic is just picking up the sound better than my ears can.

    Oooh great install video. I have similar build. I just reached out to perrin asking if the Inlet will be compatible with a DMann OTS 93OCT AEM Intake map. 🤞
    For those who are curious, this map will increase rev limiter to 6500 and add 10/20HP at the top end with boost at 18. AEM intake claims 14hp.
    Now I want the Perrin inlet to increase the top end MORE!!! with those pronounced WOOOOOOOOOOSH! sounds! 😆 Like you JDM, My 22 wrx is daily driver and want it last and be reliable. Not looking to send it and have to do the very costly STI transmission swap.

Hope this set up will work with your tune. Thanks for watching my channel and have fun with your VB mods.

    @JordieG8 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I’m not 100% sure however, that whole unit you removed is probably a venture for the PCV system. Under manifold vacuum the PCV system uses the manifold as a vacuum source, under boost it uses the vacuum in the TIP. The issue is, during transient conditions when the manifold is under slight boost, the TIP may not have sufficient vacuum in it to satisfythe PCV system. That Venturi helps the draw the correct amount of crank case vacuum during these transient conditions. The style of system has become quite popular with OEM’s to ensure proper crank case vacuum at all times. While you may think it’s a boost leak, it’s actually not, not in the traditional sense anyways. Because the boost is being fed back into the TIP it’s remains in the system, yes energy goes into compressing that air however when it’s plumbed back into the TIP is increases the pressure inside TIP and helps to lower the pressure ratio of the turbo, this helps the turbo operate more efficiently. It’s not a wash, you’re still going to have a small efficiency loss however it’s not nearly has much as you would expect and actually quite a good idea from and engendering standpoint. Why Perrin decided to remove this system is beyond me.

    • @JordieG8
      @JordieG8 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Additional info: Perrin claims it’s part of the EVAP system however, I have my suspicions it may be part of the PCV system as well.

    I heard the coolant lines on the turbo help cool it for quick shut down when you turn off the car, the old ones idled a while to cool the turbos.

    • @JDMRightHandDrive
      @JDMRightHandDrive  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      The turbo CHRA as a water line going through it to cool the turbo already. The front Subaru cast piece to the compressor housing wont make to much of a difference. All the heat is on the turbine side and the water line from the factory goes directly through the center cartridge where the turbos bearings are. Removing the front water lines from the cast aluminum wont cause a cooling issue.

    Not gunna lie, it kinda sounds like somethings breaking to me 😬😂 I’m a first time WRX owner, bought my 22 brand new, so I’m just dipping my feet into making it mine. Mostly cosmetic, except for the axle back I put on it. But I did buy the extended warranty (I guess it was like 4K but they sold it to me for 1500, 7 years/100k miles) so I don’t think I’ll do any major mods as I’d be super anxious that something might go wrong.
    Having said that, seeing your peak boost be above 17 has me so bummed I can’t even break 13 on mine lol might you do a video explaining your point of view on why you chose to mod it and how you feel it could/might be a little bit of a roll of the dice? I get it, you gotta mod these things, but for a first time owner I’m just really nervous about doing so haha subscribed tho, cheers!

    Awesome video! I wonder if your changes in turbo inlet noise (whistle, flutter etc) is because you also have the intake and other mods. Without that, I wonder if the Turbo Inlet makes any noticeable sound difference for someone still running the factory airbox and just a drop in filter.

    • @JDMRightHandDrive
      @JDMRightHandDrive  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think that the factory air box would stop the flutter noises from making there way out of the piping. I think the inlet with the oem air box would still add some additional sounds though, but not as pronounced as my car with full set up installed. You will have to let me know what you think once you install it. Thanks

    Somebody been drinking the ricer kool aid. You want people to think that changing a hose before the turbo, while on a stock tune, with stock boost control and programmed torque curve limits is making 15 more HP? Sounds cool and likely has some benefit on modded cars, but you cant believe every ridiculous claim on a box. Especially from Perrin. They claim their intake on the new BRZ makes 10hp as well. Dozens of people have tested them and found they LOSE power over the stock intake. 😂

      All those temps displayed on the Cobb worked just fine with my base. I just had to select in the Cobb AP menu which temps I wanted displayed. The only option in there I wanted that was not an option was oil pressure. Not sure how the Canadian model differs from the USDM model. I would think all the sensors would be the same though. Seems like it would be harder for Subaru not to build the cars that way. Hope it turns out good for you and thanks for watching.

      @parthjosh9306 I have the 2022 wrx limited model. Though here CDN its called sport tech. I can confirm that the CDN models are USD. For whatever reason the sub trims on the WRX in canada are called different then that of US. I have very similar build to that of JDM right hand drive... My limited power mods are a COBB AP & AEM intake with DMann OTS AEM 93OCT intake map. The map increases Rev limiter to 6500 and 10/20hp on top end. AEM intake clams to increase HP by 14 wit a boost of 18. I reached out to Cobb before purchasing the AP, They confirmed that the US AP is the same for CDN models. You'll be able to read the oil temps from the cobb ap. OIl temps are important as you shouldn't go into boost until they are at least 85 caulis.

      The Perrin website says this requires trimming with a Cobb or ETS V1 intake. Kind of vague as the ETS and Cobb have a xsolid aluminum intake pipe. Less the silicone couplers. Very interested as I think my ETS is a V2. Slightly different couplers. @Perrin. Please provide some clarification

      I bought the turbo inlet and I have a Cobb intake tube. I haven't installed it yet, but Jeff said it probably requires some trimming.

      I believe this can mount right up to the stock intake as well from what I can tell by taking everything apart. I would reach out to Perrin to verify.

      Did you run the upper vacuum line from the evap to the brake booster like I did. Also did you trim the evap line 1 inch before putting connecting the line to the turbo inlet barb? I didnt trim that evap line initially and it caused a kink which triggered a CEL on my car. Once I trimmed that line and it was straight and not kinked no more CEL.

    Sounds like crap to me the coolant lines keep the turbo cool and the blow off valve you just removed keep the turbo from being damaged longevity. The flutter is very bad for your turbo you don’t want that. The only thing about this part is you eliminate a black Wrinkled plastic pipe that you can’t see anyway so really not worth swapping this out imo.

    • @JDMRightHandDrive
      @JDMRightHandDrive  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +19

      The turbo is cooled on the center cartridge where both the oil and water flow near the hot side exhaust turbine, the CHRA. The front coolant lines have nothing to do with cooling the turbo, but instead heat up the aluminum housing to prevent ice crystals from forming in sub zero temperatures near the turbos compressor wheel. Also I think what your talking about is compressor surge, this is not what is happening. The stock bypass valve still releases the boost pressure to prevent compressor surge. Those little flutter noises were coming off throttle at zero boost pressure and just hearing the compressor wheel making some sounds through the different CHRA rpm ranges.

      Bro, you literally have no idea what the hell you are talking about 😂. The bypass valve is still there, the turbo is still cooled as mentioned by the author, and the surge/flutter sound is actually normal turbo operation and is running perfectly 😅 maybe do some research on the engine and how it's supposed to operate first before commenting next time 😂

    • @Christdeliverme

      It also throws the balance of the compressor cage. It will reduce the life of the whole boost range. But it's up to all of you if you want hotter boost tempo, you'll lose horse pressure and make spool 15% less spooled.

    Thanks for the vid. Garrett turbo part number is 897071-5004S. Model: MGT2260Z. The inlet looks good. when you stay it doesn't bog down anymore, are you talking about this: ... When I floor it/rev it sometimes the idle will drop down below normal idle (like 500 rpm) and then pop back up to regular idle (about 700). ? BC i've been trying to figure out why it does that. Subie said it's normal. Ya, normal as in not tuned right.

    • @JDMRightHandDrive
      @JDMRightHandDrive  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah mine would bog down to 500 and then jump up to 2000 rpm and wander around for a few seconds before finding a stable idle again. My car also dropped a few times below 500 rpm and stalled out. this was due to the vent to atmosphere BOV I had installed on the car. It had nothing to do with the turbo inlet. But having the stock bov on the car fixes the AFR for the factory maf sensor ecu values.
