    Just installed mine (2023 WRX base) . This isn't my first intake, I've installed multiple over the years. So I installed everything perfectly. However I am not happy. It seems to remove power, not add. First gear always pulled hard all the way through (stock) and now it won't kick in unti aftwr 4,600 rpm. I've only had it on for a day, and I think I'm already going to return it.

    • @JDMRightHandDrive
      @JDMRightHandDrive  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Out of curiosity did you verify the MAF sensor is pointing in the proper direction? Also did you clean the excess oil off the filter to ensure the MAF sensor did not get contaminated during the initial startup? I might try spraying some maf cleaner on your sensor. That suck your having issues. Mine worked perfectly and my car is much faster.

    • @shadowdemon7770
      @shadowdemon7770 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@JDMRightHandDrive yeah but I'll double check tomorrow. It's impossible to installed it backwards. It only goes in one way. And if it was in wrong it probably wouldn't even start. But again I'm gonna double check all connections and see what happens. But you're right, holt shit that filter had a shit load of oil on it. As well as those stupid rings don't stay in place.

    • @JDMRightHandDrive
      @JDMRightHandDrive  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shadowdemon7770 my guess is some oils got on the sensor. Hope you get it fixed. I am going to swap my filter with a K&N filter later. Because the oil freaks me out a little.

      Hey if you know anything about upgrading my (WRX base) dual screen to a single screen, please let me know. I found a used one but I'm unsure that it would just be as easy as swap and go.

    • @hhaste
      @hhaste ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That's because you did lose power. You almost always will, with an aftermarket intake on a Subaru without a tune. It's not healthy for the engine, either. Only drop in filters, like a K&N flat panel filter should be installed without a tune.

      I was very concerned that it would be too loud as well. It is quieter that the ETS I had before. The ETS produced a deep exhaust not which gave more of a drone effect in the cabin. The Noble Titanium resonates making a higher frequency exhaust pitch that does not bother me so much in cabin. I am very happy with the sound after the last 1000 miles I put on it so far. Its not to loud at all, I will never use the silencer that comes with it. Thanks for watching.

      Any change relating to airflow, you need to get a tune. Sure the car is smart enough for some variable changes, but I don’t care. Stock tune is meant to be as universal as possible. And considering how finicky and sensitive Subaru’s are to any sort of change. If you want the most out of your car’s life get a protune. E tune’s aren’t even that much. $250-$300 to save my engine, plus better performance? Yes pls. Ever since the Green Speed update dropped. A lot of tuners are now offering Open Source tunes as an option. So no need for an Access Port, just need a good quality Tactrix cable.

      @@TheVikingRaid For the sake of warranty, I did not. I know I could get better gains with one but it's still nice without and my dealership will still cover me if something happens.
      I would really like to get her on a dyno to see what just the intake and exhaust will do with no tune.

    Seems like it only makes cool sounds. All it’s doing is sucking in hot engine bay air. You would actually improve performance by buying an AEM dryflow filter and removing the factory charcoal filter.

    NO BOV?

    • @JDMRightHandDrive
      @JDMRightHandDrive  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I installed a TS VTA BOV and it made my car run weird. I had to install the stock BOV to get my car pro tuned. I will be getting myself the new Perrin recirculation BOV. If you want extra turbo noises I would recommend getting the Perrin turbo inlet. th-cam.com/video/pPAvFHt6jc4/w-d-xo.html

    No offense to you, love your videos. But, other than noises, this is actually more inefficient than stock. The stock ram air box does a good job of directing air. I don't understand why Perrin didn't design a box to go around that intake filter to help divert air.

    • @JDMRightHandDrive
      @JDMRightHandDrive  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree with you there, this does suck in hot air. I installed the heat shield about 2 weeks later and that made a noticeable difference you can feel. Did you see the @Subispeed intake shoot out video? The reviewed the Perrin, AEM and ETS intakes. Pretty good review to see all the dyno comparisons. Thanks for the channel support.

    Talked to an ASE certified Subaru tech. Non of these intakes work with stock tunes, pro tunes are mandatory.

      I ran my Perrin Intake with the Cobb OTS map. Perrin Performance did tons of dyno pulls to verify their intake system AFR values are within a safe range with factory maps and Cobb OTS maps. I did later on have my car pro tuned. th-cam.com/video/TEX41FlIiBE/w-d-xo.html
