Great question. What mods the car already has is hugely important to answer this question. If you already have most bolt-on parts, under $10k. But if you have a bone stock car, it can easily approach $20k.
Hp isn’t the issue it’s the torque. You need to keep it around 650tq, HP wise you good up to as much as 900+ but that’s not possible while keeping the torque that low...so we generally see 820 to 850 whp on boost logic 750x and Cico performance gateways
Good information to know. I got 102k miles on my motor and oil pressure gauge shows good pressure above 20 psi and under 30 psi. Would a turbo upgrade hurt the motor? It's a full bolt on Gtr .

I feel like upgrading stock turbo's and keeping torque low while more linear is better suited for a track car. These days anything under 750 or so wheel hp is getting left in rolls. At least in FL and TX

Thinking on ordering these Pure turbos real soon as my fbo e85 setup is starting to be slow to me lol. How much faster is a bolt on e85 car on Pures vs a stock turbo bolt on e85 car? Lets say a roll race how much faster? 1 car 2 cars 3 cars a bus length? Also I’m guessing 1/4 mile trap speed should be some where in the high 140’s? As stock turbos tend to go 133-136 on the norm...
Bro go to the R35 Nissan GTR group page in Facebook, there is a recent video from a roll race between a full bolt on GTR with stock turbos vs a full bolt on GTR plus upgrade aftermarket turbos that was making this same car 800 WHP. In the top end the moded GTR put buses length in the stock turbo GTR 😉.
Great video, but wanted to know if you're still running the same type of spark plugs, or one step colder? My GT-R is tuned, doing about 600 at the wheel, so should I run a, 1 step colder plug? Thank you.
Trying to decide if I should stay FBO e85 or dish out the cash for upgraded turbos. Do you feel like the performance difference is sufficiently noticeable to justify the turbo upgrade? Is the quarter mile time that much better with upgraded turbos?
Joel, The performance difference with turbos is SIGNIFICANT. 60-130mph on stock turbos in very good conditions will be high 6s. With turbos, low 5s. The acceleration, especially at higher speeds, is what changes. It doesn't "fall on it's face" like it does with the stock turbos.
@@boostcontrolledperformance1523 Thanks for your response! That's very helpful. Im considering installing the AAM 1600 Garrett turbo. And being the exhaust is titanium is it possible to retain that exhaust and just upgrade the mid pipe and I’m guessing you will say intakes plus tune. Thanks for your input.
Philip Klipper great question. The fuel you run greatly impacts the outcome. On 91/93 you would need a good turbo-back exhaust, injectors, fuel pump, ideally an upgraded intercooler, and intakes to achieve a true 600whp on pump gas. If you want to run E85, this number is easily attainable with just the intakes, injectors, and fuel pumps.
