This is a really fast video that shows one workflow for getting an exploding liquid and blueberry food type commercial shot done in Houdini. Patreon Link: / kevbcg
hey kev. love your videos. i just have a question: if blender has geo nodes and simulation node than what's the point of someone learning Houdini? what makes Houdini still the best?
Thanks! The quick answer is that Houdini is YEARS ahead of Blender for simulations and pipeline work. That said, Blender is improving all the time. I still don’t use Blender for heavy sims, and I still don’t model in Houdini. Does that help?
@@KevBinge so what your saying is that Houdini has features that blender currently doesn't have in terms if simulation and procedural model generation. right?
what do you call these? is there a name for them? product renders? just commercials? been trying to look up a bunch of these to learn and get inspired by
That’s a good question lol. I’d say “ad reel,” or “commercial fluid simulation,” or “commercial cgi.” That should get you started. If you find better phrases let me know haha! Good luck 😀
16 GB is pretty low for Houdini but if you keep the sims and data on the lower end you can still learn. You don’t really “need” a GPU for most things in Houdini at the moment. It helps in some areas. RAM and proc speed are more important at the time of this writing.
Just learn Houdini last 3 days, now I'm following this tutorial! :)
Awesome! It’s a beast 😀
How is it?
Always speed 💨
Yeah lol. I only have patience now on Patreon where I don’t need to spend hours editing haha.
Deal. 👍
Deal.
Purple Squishies!!! Yaaaay!!!!
Awww yeah! Purple squisheeeeeezzzz 🤘🤘

if that's what you meant than yeah it helped
Yup, that’s what I’d meant. The two packages work well together though. There’s plenty of room to learn both.
@@KevBinge thnx your answer really helped a lot

@@KevBinge Me using 12 GB or RAM be like... 🗿🗿🗿
@@KevBinge ok thank you 😄
