Haha love to hear that :) So glad you're enjoying my videos! I usually upload Tuesday mornings but this one went out a bit late due to some (super fun) Wifi issues haha. Appreciate you & hope you're having a great day! :)
I acculy think it's 6 panels. 2 front that goes not side but side of the front and that looks like a upside dow. L. 1 side panel that are over the entire side and looks like a T. That makee the ties and i suspekt the body is the same becouse it have a style like far out on front just where bust start get less full. It's seen on atleast 1 pic from her side walking over a street. So body is 6 panels as well
That dress looks great on you! I love you're vids. The things you make and your sparkling personality are both well worth watching. And the fact they come out on Tuesdays when not much else is going on... perfect timing :) Thanks!
An incredibly good attempt for the first time! Making this in a stretch fabric was brilliant. The original had a few features that make the ties easier: -Side panels -No waist seam -Ties patterned into the front, side and back panel starting at upper hip with the tie part as a long trapezoid sticking out at a 45 degree angle to the grain line (like half of a Y shape).
Hi Cait, thanks for your video. The correct pronunciation of the brand Bottega Veneta is with the emphasis on the first e in Veneta. Not on the second. Just a small remark! Barkcloth from Amsterdam
Don't usually comment on videos, but love this! It looks so good on you. Love your creativity.... also, love stretch fabric but am so scared to sew it since it always gets sucked into my feed dogs. Do you find having a serger helps? (I have the walking foot and sometimes try wash away stabilizing tape, but I'm still no good at sewing stretch fabric which also happens to be my favorite fabric to wear.)
Thanks so much! 😊❤️ I definitely recommend a serger for stretch fabrics I also didn’t enjoy working with stretch until I got mine. A big part of sewing with stretch fabrics is messing with the tension of your machine so if you haven’t tried that definitely mess with it a bit and see if you can get it to stop getting sucked into your feed dogs. But yeah the serger was a game changer for me haha. Best of luck on your projects! 😊❤️❤️❤️
@@CaitMakes so good to know! I ish stretch fabrics were generally more environmentally friendly because that’s all I want to wear ever again! 🤣 Appreciate the feedback.
Yes please make it from a woven fabric! If I was to make it for myself I would make the keyhole less prominent and would make the back hem a bit longer for better balance. But overall bravo 👏 I love that you just went for it!
Hi Cait, I was wondering where I could find the original pattern for this dress? I discovered your channel last week and I loooved how you sparkle in every video, we can see you are very passionate by sewing so thank you ;) xx from France ✨
I loved the dress! I would love to see you make it again in a different fabric. For me personally I would put the cut out at the back just because I don’t like to show my chest, so I would love to see a you make one with the cut out at the back instead 🙊 also, I can confirm those sweets are British, I use to love eating them when I was younger.
Haha I’m sort of perpetually watching Gilmore Girls but I like to watch the first two seasons at the beginning of fall. 😊❤️❤️🍂 Happy to find another Gilmore Girl here 😊❤️
They're very common British sweets, but they've also been around for a long time, so they're sort of Vintage too :D Incredible project, Cait, you look really beautiful in that dress!
I really like your version, but it’s definitely made very differently to the original. The original has a very interesting construction/pattern where the ties are completely incorporated into the skirt. That means the way the ties are pulling on the middle part is because that’s actually the bias of the fabric stretching. It’s incredibly hard to put into words, but I think if we saw the pattern laid out, the top of the dress would be cut off, you’d pivot the bodice the centre front is almost next to the centre front of the skirt (attached only at the pivot point), then you’d draw in the tie straight upwards from the sideseams. You’d have that on the two fronts and the two backs. Then you’d sew the centre seams on the fronts and back, sew the shoulders, then the sides, but you’d have a portion not sewn because that’s where the ties are. I think the reason it looks like more than one tie on each side is because there’s a lot of fabric in both.
You’re right. Except the original dress has side panels so the ties are patterned directly into the front panel once, the side panel twice and the back panel once. Looking at half the pattern.
I love how this turned out, you did such an amazing job of recreating the original dress! The ties on the side are such a unique detail
Aw thank you, thank you! It was a really fun one to try and figure out 😊❤️
😮 this came out fabulous ❤. You look amazing in it!
Thank you so much! 😊❤️❤️
Girl I have been rewatching your videos all day long and wondered when you upload the next one. Cait blessed us with more dress making

Wow looks great.
Only I think in the original the skirt has 8 panels with the front and back ones attached to the top and the straps are a part of it.

@@AnniCarlsson ohh, yes that makes sense as well. I didn’t really look at the side😅
It definitely reminded me of the pattern magic books

Thanks! Haha yeah it can be a struggle.

Hi! Agh! Thanks so much for letting me know, I should have double checked the pronunciation. 🤦🏼♀️ Thanks for watching 😊❤️
Love love love how your version turned out!! Going to try to recreate for my birthday dress. How much fabric would you say you need for this project?

$45 sounds like you forgot to factor in your time. It was probably closer $500
