I've watched you on YT for years, Simone! Such a wonderful surprise to see you on one of my other favorite channels. Seeing the whole house was like having a friend show you their place after only having seen one room while doing a Zoom call. Haha! Love it. Thank you NTS for bringing Simone into the fold!
"Never change" Uhm… I think by now, she's changed the bathroom wallpaper… 🙂 Watering that plantshade would drive me nuts. I'm surprised she hasn't invented a pump and tube watering system of some sort!
I absolutely love her!!!! I wanted whimsy for our children, but I got chaos with my terrible ex-husband. It not too late. She makes me wanna dream like a child again
Leave it to @veganpotterthevegan to privilege-check what counts as small. The whole reason I subscribed to this channel was for decorating ideas for my apartment that's about this size. Most people in the US live in much bigger spaces, and our furniture is sold accordingly.
I watched it yesterday, but had to come back to comment, because one part kept on repeating on my brain "...they're sagging from all the weight. But then again, who isn't?" OMG, one of the top moments from TH-cam. Like, way up there.
Love how Simone's place is the polar opposite in its aesthetic decisions of most homes featured on NTS, and yet fits in so well with how custom and well-considered it all is.
Oh. My. God. This is the most charismatic person ever and her home definetly is too. I just love it so much. I wish I was that creative and weird and funny and crafty and definetly not boring. Kuddos for both Simone and NTS for this amazing episode
Simone is so easy to love. She lives the life I always thought I’d have as an adult (ie not a slave to a low paying job, barely able to afford rent). But she inspires me and I try to push through and create as often as possible.
Exactly, 630 sq ft is plenty for a single person. Hell, you can easily have a functional two bedroom at about that size. Why do people even want big homes anyway? You just end up accumulating useless stuff to fill it and it's a lot of extra space to maintain, clean, and heat/cool.
680 sq ft for one person is plenty. My 3 bedroom home is 750 sq ft (in the UK, where houses are typically smaller) bigger just allows you to fill it with more stuff you don't need.
@@VolkbrechtI was looking for this comment, I have 2 bedrooms in 65sqm and that's considered a pretty big appartment for 1 person over here in Switzerland
I live in an old house in the US, and it's under 900 square feet (about 850) . My husband and I raised 2 wonderful kids in it, and I can honestly credit our closeness as a family to our small house. I knew what the kids were watching on TV, what they were playing for video games, who they played with, etc. because of our small house. I wouldn't trade it for anything bigger, to be honest. I can tell upon entering, who, if anyone, is home and I like that.
What a fantastic and quirky world she lives in! This is what you get when you live the experimental and creative mindset of “how can I make this better” and, “anything goes”.. I’d never heard of her so this was an amazing opportunity to meet her on this channel.
OMG, I've been subscribed to Simone for like a decade. It's great to see her show the whole house after seeing all the individual projects over the years.
‘I’d rather have weird/ugly than boring’ - thank you for this bit of wisdom, Simone! I’m in the middle of my own complicated house renovation and I’m definitely going to borrow this mantra for myself ❤️
I love NTS but have never commented till now. I am obsessed with how creative and quirky Simone is, and by extension her house. She’s also so warm and funny and someone that I thought, wow she must be so much fun as a friend. This is an impossible to replicate house as it’s a product of her incredibly creative brain but it’s a great example of how making a place exactly as you want it and yet not attached to anything, allows you to have the perfect sanctuary.
Best episode of Never too small. She is incredible, and so is her house. Loved that she kept it real about the loft and other things too. Simply wonderful episode!
What a joyous collaboration between two of my favourite channels! Lovely to see the entirety of Simone's clever, witty, warm, whimsical home (all characteristics of Simone herself, I feel). It could only have been better if Laura Kampf had been lurking in the workshop. Fabulous.
Yeah I feel like the idea that this is a small space is very telling as to how big the average American house is. Yes it's only 1 bed 1 bath, but there's *so much space*, it's definitely not a small place at all. It's a gorgeous house either way though.
What does small mean in america? I know generally they have way more space, but I don't understand how a big living room with ample space for a corner couch, a large kitchen diner with space for a double fridge, a bedroom with a double bed and space for a sewing station and STILL having lots of floor space, is possibly considered "small" for a single person, or even two people? Not to mention a fuck off big workshop full of tools and storage etc, and what looks like a fairly sizable deck and outdoor space? Lovely house and she's decorated it in a very cool and personal way which is great, but it ain't small! this video should be "inside Simone Gertz's unique and personalised los angeles home" Honestly go to England or northern Europe and see what most people can do with REAL small spaces. I'm not talking "tiny homes" or whatever, I'm just talking about how most people live.
Best NTS video of all times!! Amazing to see see how her brain works, how she creates depending on her needs + has an amazing sense of humor!! So happy I discovered this woman.
I love this! I'm watching this on Christmas day, and it's made my day so happy. I loved seeing her home, hearing how much she loves it, and how much she enjoys her life. I needed that, today! Thanks to Simone for sharing her home with us.
If I had a table like that, I would become a jigsaw puzzle addict in no time! What a cool woman, thank you to her and the channel for showing us her lovely home.
This is one of the few of your never-too-small homes that I really like and find cozy. Most of them are cold and sterile, all white, etc. I love the quirkiness of this home. It's awesome!! ♥
So many of the places on this channel are poorly hidden Airbnb's, while as this you can TELL she is living there which makes it so much more authentic and relatable!
Wow, Simone Giertz is so talented, innovative, charming, quirky, and with touches of humour too; just like her incredible home and her many impressive inventions. This is one of the best, most engaging spaces I've seen on this channel that truly reflects the very essence of the homeowner. :)
Love you Simone, never stop being you. I’ve seen pretty much everything she features on her channel, but this is an amazing retrospective of a channel I’ve watched for years.
Wowsa! Her perspective on everyday things is incredible. Such a creative, clever, humorous person. She seems to always find challenges that stimulate and inspire her! Oh!!! And I love her house!
This has to be one of my top 5 favourite TH-cam cross-overs!!! Simone is an absolute legend! Her outlook on life never fails to bring a smile to my face and a warmth to my core.
Well this was a surprising mash-up. Certainly breaks the "Never Too White" trend. I live in only 280 sq ft but what I envy are her shop tools. What I could do if only I had Simone's tools and the work space.
@@thedepthsofrepair For a detached house (as opposed to an apartment) this is quite small, especially for the US or Canada. It's rare to find a detached house this small in those countries. However, you're not wrong that this is a perfectly normal, even spacious, size for a one-bedroom apartment. I live in a one-bedroom apartment in a large North American city and my place is 750 square feet, which we consider pretty large for a 1 bdr.
Wow, I am blown away by Simone's ingenuity. What a brilliant and creative problem solver ! I also love the saying about where there is heart room there is butt room 😊
Love her sense of humor! Yes please on the storage over the fridge that pulls out & down...this would be a great feature for seniors and people with mobility concerns. Great video!
Yes! This is so great. All the personality and genius details and charm and "it's not perfect but it's not boring" kind of vibe. Best episode in a long while.
The best small home I have ever seen on NTS. Simone is a beautiful clever lady. I love that side table so much. Everything in her home is practical and ingenious. Her home is a true expression of herself. She should win awards for her product.
I loved the dog steps and extension to her chair so her dog could climb up and sit next to her while she works. I also liked the Dining table/Jigsaw table- that was genius.....Actually she had some brilliant ideas.

I’ve been watching her videos for quite a while now and it always feels so incredibly inspiring and chaotic, but calming at the same time - it’s just a delight. Simone if you see this: I’m glad you let yourself be so creative, even when it comes to the smallest things. You are such a big inspiration!
I watched Simone make that headboard several years ago and I was stunned that she was so inventive and charming. Then I saw the videos about her cancer and I was so sad and worried about her. I lost track of her youtube channel and forgot her name, only to find her today in this AD tour, finding out she is also Swedish and her mom is a tv-host for a ghost program I watched all the time as a kid. Lot's of love from Sweden to you Simone, hope you're doing well and that your home hasn't been affected by the fires. You are amazing.

So glad to see Simone and her home featured! It has been great to watch her channel as she builds these unique items and it is super to see them all in their place.
It's interesting to hear what constitutes "small" in different parts of the world, because 500-800 ft is a typical apartment or bungalow size in my city. Our first house was 750sq ft with a finished basement and it was a full, fully functional and personalized home. Only in America does a family of three want to take care of and pay taxes on a 2000sq ft plus house. Simone is so rad and I took a lot of inspiration from this. Thank you for featuring someone so cool!
Only americans call that small. Mine just a few timey square meter mote then hers but me has no extra space for the crafting so get way more crouded and still not call my place small
Are you using the convention of "main floor" for the square footage or including the basement? Simone's house I'd consider on the small side, especially since it appears to have no basement
@@niceguy191 man living are is area where you live. Storage buildings. Garage or barns is not living area. You maybe hard time to grasp it but americans usally do.
Thank you for doing this. Simone simply doesn't do enough to show off her home in her own videos. This was wonderful to see how all her work has come together to make a fun, functional, and livable space.
Simone, you are an amazingly brilliant artist/designer. I loved seeing your creations. Your stained glass sliding door is beautiful. Thanks for sharing your charming, cozy house with us.
Wow, Simone is amazing. Creative. Intelligent. Always looking at ways to solve problems most of us can't see. I'm not worried either. She'll find the big spoon of her dreams someday. Stay strong, Simone!

Simone is possibly the most creative person I've seen, and she is actually able to achieve the end results she wants. Its literally so cool! everyone of her projects keeps me captivated so awesome!
Simone Giertz is one of my most favorite inventors and creators. So good to see her being featured on your channel. She has done many great projects, this house being one of them which I really love. 😄❤
right? never before have I laughed out loud during an NTS video (I came across both NTS and Simone during pandemic lock-down - as others here have said: what a happy combination of 2 youtube favourites!)
amazing showcase of not only how Simone's house works but also how her mind works, which is so fascinating. have been following both channels for a while now, and this collab makes so much sense. my fav episode this year ❤
Simone Giertz if you see and read this comment, just want you to know you are beyond gifted immeasurable. Your inventions and creation is so fun and functional.
I am in love with this woman! As an architecture student about to move into my first real apartment, and with a very similar sense of humor I've loved every second of this video. I've lived in an old schoolbus, a storage container, and other unusual places I feel so seen as designer but also just an adventurous spirit. @simonegiertz you're awesome I can't to start following you and your work!!
I love your inventions - the transforming table, the coffee table spool, the bed, the hanger! truly unique and truly you! Thank you NTS for featuring Simone!
I just sold my 1800’s quintessential English cottage & after 22 year (literally half my life) of being here & cherishing the house, I am super happy to have sold it to the first couple who saw it! They are from South Africa & just seem to understand how special these walls are & the safety & comfort this home provides. From the cherry blossom & apple tree in the huge garden, to the sash windows, clawfoot bath, open fireplace, vaulted master bedroom or the stunning wooden wall all the way down the upstairs corridor; I am going to miss the monumental time in my life. I’m going to be living VERY SMALL in a camper van! I have no idea how to do that yet, but my 2 french bulldogs & I will have to figure that out!!! I hope I love it as much as I have this home 🐾🍀🖤🪽
Simone, if you ever read this - you've got a beautiful home, imperfections and all. I love your creativity and it's always a joy to see another upload from you.
It’s wonderful, simply wonderful. Too often these spaces call to the “oh I’m so creative” types who end up creating a home that looks like a futuristic movie set or something; the sort of space that comes unravelled if you wear a sweater or buy a book in an off-theme colour. But this is actually liveable. And it’s creative components sort of sit back and create comfort, rather than screaming out, “ooh, aren’t I just too cool, look at me! Look! Look!” (And it has a decent kitchen!) (Those hinged hangers are simply brilliant.)
Saying I'm impressed is an understatement! This is super cool!!! I love everything about her decor, and the fact that she made a lot of it herself is just awesome!
thank you for embracing my house with all of its weird charm 🥹

omg I've been following NTS and Simone for years, never did I expect this delightful crossover! I love all the things Simone has made for her home
What a delightful person! She has such a wonderful attitude.
@niceguy191 it's not small.
Omg americans that think houses should be mansions then complein over rent
@@niceguy191 man living are is area where you live. Storage buildings. Garage or barns is not living area. You maybe hard time to grasp it but americans usally do.
I had never heard of Simone before this! I love her energy and creativity!
Thank you for doing this. Simone simply doesn't do enough to show off her home in her own videos. This was wonderful to see how all her work has come together to make a fun, functional, and livable space.
9:33 - I just laughed out loud 🤣 now I can't unseen this 😂
I love Simone so much. Of course she has one of the prettiest, most fun homes I've ever SEEN!
Simone, you are an amazingly brilliant artist/designer. I loved seeing your creations. Your stained glass sliding door is beautiful. Thanks for sharing your charming, cozy house with us.
This woman is an amazing being! Creative, smart and funny. Living the life!
Wow, Simone is amazing. Creative. Intelligent. Always looking at ways to solve problems most of us can't see. I'm not worried either. She'll find the big spoon of her dreams someday. Stay strong, Simone!
I already knew that Simone is amazing, yet I didn’t realise how amazing she actually is until I watched this.
Thanks!
I've never heard of her, so thanks for the introduction! This is far and away my favorite tour you've done on this channel. I love her unique and beautiful solutions.
This is the most hilarious NTS video I've seen. Simone is fabulous. Thank you for introducing me to her!
right? never before have I laughed out loud during an NTS video (I came across both NTS and Simone during pandemic lock-down - as others here have said: what a happy combination of 2 youtube favourites!)
amazing showcase of not only how Simone's house works but also how her mind works, which is so fascinating. have been following both channels for a while now, and this collab makes so much sense. my fav episode this year ❤
Simone is so funny, fun, and creative!!! What a lovely home, filled with awesome inventions!!!
My favorite never too small. The house is so creative and charming and inspiring, as are you. I hope you are safe from the current fires.
Wow. This is the type of AD content I have craved! Thanks for this
I love your inventions - the transforming table, the coffee table spool, the bed, the hanger! truly unique and truly you! Thank you NTS for featuring Simone!
I LOVE this home! I LOVE quirky things. The decorative wooden ceiling is gorgeous! The more casual format of this video is refreshing.
Oh my gosh, this is my most favorite Never Too Small video ever!! So inspiring and delightful! xx
This was the best thing I could possibly have woken up to today 😊 I ❤️ Simone and NTS - what a brilliant merging of two of my favourite channels ❤❤❤
Look! Look!” (And it has a decent kitchen!)
(Those hinged hangers are simply brilliant.)
Love Simone's sense of humor and quirkiness! Your home is beautiful!
Saying I'm impressed is an understatement! This is super cool!!! I love everything about her decor, and the fact that she made a lot of it herself is just awesome!
Simone thanks for bringing one of my fav Swedish sayings about the STJÄRTERUM! 🎉
