seeing i'm a LHD drive. and owned a GTI like yours. its nice to see how VW alterd locations and the firewall for the RHD bits! ps that tarp. id suggest you make some kind of carpart from it with some basic timber? if you ever work on it and starts to drizzle. you still can do something to it :) . engine looks great from what i can see. should look/run real good after a propper rebuild .. hindsight. internatl testing of Vw back in 96 and again in 2000 . shows these engines can do 500k on stock.. (no rebore of oversides pistons used with those you can get up to 1,2million km combined) there really solid engines if well maintanced :) cant wit for mine to be fully rebuild!
