Thanks for confirming that critical element doesn't multiply the elemental attack skill damage! Don't feel too bad that you already leveled up all of that elemental attack armor: that stuff will still be useful for negative affinity weapons and builds where you don't have room for all the critical hit skills. I got lucky: I've only built water elemental attack gear and already had half of a crit-build, but Jho and Rajang weapons are going to be basically useless for me until I build dedicated gear for them...
^This. Honestly, crit element only seems to benefit silver rathalos weapons the most, mizutsune weapons second, and everything else…marginal improvement at best. Unless it’s fire, elemental attack sets still work fine.😉
Thanks for this MH math course. It does seem that our elemental builds will become less relevant but it also means that we could start working on a single crit + element crit build that would work with all elements and then add some element skills on top of it if we have spare slots and lucky drifstmelding.
@@PauwerPlays To be fair, elemental attack is still valid until you actually get the G10 top elemental weapons. Especially for players who are not in endgame yet and are still stuck with sub G10 weapons, it's better and can help boosting their damage to the needed levels. Hey Pauwer, I think you should add a second video which explains how mhnquest comes to their numbers in the compare tab. It would be an advanced video that explains "expected value" of crit, what "practicality assessment" means, etc. It would also be great to explain what one should and shouldn't use mhnquest for (for example, it is not meant to compare weapons of different types, or even weapons with different shot types), and how to interpret the results. If you have somewhere I can contact you (discord etc), I'd be really happy to share my results so you can make this content and bring it to everyone!
Excellent video! The missing point is the meaning of the colour of each attack. Correct me it's White : neutral Orange/yellow : hit in weak part Bold orange/yellow : critical hit
White Numbers: Non-weak spot Orange Border with White Numbers: Elemental Weakness on Non-weak spot Orange Border with Orange Numbers: Elemental Weakness on Weak Spot Hope the video was helpful!

Let me say this: "Bubble Dance+Resu is META". For melee hunters at least. This CRIT ELE boosts the damage of Bubble+resu to the roof. Recently, I found my damage lacking in my ice build. Seeing this info about the element crit only buffing the *weapon's* element damage made me think. "wait, how much is Kushala Frostwind actually buffing me?" if it's increasing my 7.3 Kushala LBG's ice attack by 10%, that's only 38.5 more attack. ... in which case, very much not worth it presently. Maybe later, but I'm also sacrificing 2 / 3 levels of Ice Attack for my current build. Losing 250 attack to gain 38 sounds hilariously awful. Current: Kushala LBG, Kushala helm, Paolumu chest, Legiana arms and waist, Barroth legs ... oh. Never mind, we can see this change in the equipment menu. from 485 attack to 533. Looks like it does buff the Ice Attack skill too, but I'm definitely better off with my old build for now. At least just thinking about it helps in the long run!
Something I would like to know and seems to not be discussed by anyone is "what the point of unlocking higher difficulty?" I feel like their is almost no point in unlocking higher difficulty once you got to 6* and every monster are available. 8* is interesting as you can then upgrade gear to get more skills, but I feel like it is not worth the grind. If I want to try a new weapon or build, it takes days, weeks, maybe months to get it high level enough to fight 8* monsters. Sounds too tedious for not much reward imo. And 9*/10* reaaaally look pointless. Maybe I'm wrong, and I would very much like for people to explain what is the appeal of unlocking higher tier. As of now, having unlocked 8* for about a month, I feel like I'd be better off just starting a new account and have fun trying different weapon and builds.
Please no one tells me that it is so the game becomes more challenging, if you do it for this reason you're an idiot. You want more challenge? Don't upgrade your weapon. You're welcome.
You can't upgrade your weapon past 7.5 without 8* monsters. If you don't care for that, then you're right, no reason to unlock them. But if you want to max out a weapon and see big numbers (which I'd argue most people want to do eventually), then you need to unlock 8*. As for 9* and 10*, the reason to do it is to get more 8* monsters to show up on your map, mostly. This is much less of a problem now that DLs are common, but back in the day, you would only see 1-3 8* on your whole map at the 8* map, which doubled (or more) when you unlocked 9* map and nearly doubles again at 10* at the cost of have 1-3 10* monsters on the map you can't kill, making farming those 8* rarity 6 parts a lot easier.
Unlocking 8 stars gets you to potentially get WGS, which is needed for end game. Plus, unlocking higher tier monsters is more challenging play. I've unlocked 10 stars, but can't take them down even with maxed out weapons, so I simply go after 8 and 9 star monsters exclusively. Hope that helps!
This looks to really benefit the Silver Rath LBG. It's totally possible to get Crit Ele-5, recoil/reload-3, WEX-1 and Crit Eye-5 (with driftstones) for a potential total of 90% affinity on the fire ammo. Turn that thing into a literal flamethrower with a touch of poison attack to help support any teammates using a Poison Exploit build.
I’m gonna have to do some testing, now. My ice set is Kushala Lance with Ice Attack 5 and Frostwind 3, WEX 2, crit 1. I wonder where frostwind affects the formula, as well as the 150% weakness on something like Teostra with crits involved. Hmmmm…. With Unity 3, I’ve crit teostra’s Face for almost 9k with the base lance counter. Haha. Oooh, another part to test, unity~
