Notably the other difference between the rathalos and anjanath bows is the shot type, which may well influence your decision too, depending on whether you prefer spread or pierce
I agree. It will depend on you gameplay strategy especially for bow. Spread is good for close range burst damage while pierce is sniper mode. Rapid is between the two types of shot.
@@shindenxxxx pierce isn't necessarily for sniping but more monsters with large weakpoints that can be hit by many pierce hits like if you are fighting kulu and targeting the head pierce sucks even if you are sniping at distance because you are only going to get maybe 2 or 3 hits max and that is generous so for bow I prefer spread or rapid since if I aim at a spot within good range all shots will hit compared to pierce which will usually go through a weak point leading to decreased damage

Hammer and Bow are just so blessed to have Diablos weapon series, to be able to stick with non element path without too much of dps loss compare to element path. Technically sns and LS have too but its on Pink Rathian weapon series, which are hard to farm due to it being rare species.
Also you can mention. For paralysis weapons, when a monster eventually gets paralyzed, you deal 10% more damage, only if using Girros weapons. If playing in a group and the monster is paralyzed, other weapons do not get this 10% benefit. This was tested by another Ytuber, Team Darkside.
So if say a weapon has 200 raw damage and 300 paralysis damage and the weapon is NOT weak to it, it’s only doing 200 damage? Or is paralysis the exception for this rule for elements?
@@BrothersGraham so because Paralysis is a status ailment. It affects ALL monsters. Monsters that are weak to it (ie. Diablos) just means that the amount of paralysis is increased to make it paralyzed quicker. When any monster gets paralyzed, you will deal 10% more damage too. The raw damage is your main damage, the paralysis damage # is for a possibly “hidden gauge” for the monster to become paralyzed.
so seems the main draw of Anjanath bow over Rathalos is shot type spread vs pierce since the targets for fire are Jagras, paolumu, barroth and Legiana. Jagras is rather small, Paolumu gets access to tornadoes and a hard to dodge ramming attack at distance, Barroth you rarely want to stand directly in front of and Legiana will not allow you to back up to critical distance. spread is just easier
Can you do calculations for poison please? Its it essentially just raw with poison buildup on top of it? Or does it work like elemental damage? Thanks :)
Hey there! It does not work like elemental damage, it is as you say raw with poison build up on top. More testing is required on the actual damage as it seems to scale up with the target you apply it to. Weakness just seems indicate lower thresholds to apply poison. I would like to do an in depth look in the future on how the damage and resistance scales.
I believe the poison weakness in monsters makes your poison damage ticks do more. From my experience the difference in damage seems to be about the same as if you hit a monster in an non weak point vs it’s weak point when the monster is weak to poison.
Based on experience, it is chance and threshold when it comes to paralysis and poison element. If you notice, not every attack shows you these status ailment damages. That's the % chance I'm talking about. For threshold, it is the amount of damage you need to apply in order to trigger the effects of both poison and paralysis. I was once able to paralyze a monster with my Girros hammer after max charging. It deals 500+ paralysis damage back then and I was surprised the monster suddenly was unable to move already even if it's just a few seconds in the hunt.
Yes, fire is major weakness. Water though technically is not Barroth weakness, water element can still do damage when Barroth mud armor is on (as you can see the water element icon beside the damage number). However, once the mud armor wear off, water element can't do a single damage.😮
So are poison and stun not elements? Would that mean that they don't get the damage buff from elemental weaknesses? (or at least poison...) If thats the case, then what exactly does the elemental number of these weapons indicate?
Paralysis and Poison seem to work like this: About 1/3 of the time your attack will apply the status of the weapon to the target. That amount seems to be scaled by the amount of status on your weapon as well as the strength at the attack that got the proc. In order to get poison or paralysis to actually trigger, you need to apply enough of the status to meet a threshold. For example say a monster's poison threshold is 1000. You'd need to hit the monster enough times to apply 1000 poison to poison the monster. Now for weaknesses, it seems to indicate lower thresholds to apply the status. In addition for poison, it seems the poison does a lot more damage when it is applied. I hope this makes sense! Stun is kind of the same except it is applied with every hit to the head for any blunt damage.
As bow main this reason i have poison to carry me so i got enough material to farm the elemental... Though pukei is not nice enough to give it 4th tier item
great video! this really makes it tough to decide what to build for as a bow user tho; currently running focus, and weakness exploit as my priority when gearing so no element attack increases. Thoughts on this?
Hey thanks! I think for bow focus is quite good since you basically want to charge every attack. However I think element attack should be more worth it at level 3 and above especially at lower weapon grades. For example if your total attack with element is 800, 200 element attack is a 25% damage increase for 3 points. 3 focus at focus 5 is 15% faster charge. So the element attack technically should provide more. However comfort is an important factor, as I dropped focus I got hit a lot because I misjudged my opening so that’s something to keep in mind too. If focus simply gives you more opportunities to attack for some monsters. For element attack 5 it’s really hard not to go for such a huge attack increase. Personally I just put as much element attack as I can if it’s at least 3 then rest is focus.
Max level spread shots is easier to hit all their 5 shots, and at close range it would hit the most weak body part. compared to pierce that you need to line up with the body and the arrow may pass and miss the last 2 hits. Weakness exploit armor skill is more useful on spread vs pierce because of this. Anja could be better for most small and large size matchups.
Paralysis and Poison are status effects and function differently. A lot more like ordinary monster hunter. Weaknesses just seem to signify it’s easier to apply the status multiple times. Testing still needs to be done on status as it is a lot more involved to calculate overall dps.
