its cool to see someone else use urgent quests as a training ground. i love this perfect guard explanation. i was confused as to why some of the time i was taking dmg while counterguarding. lance is my 2nd go to weapon
I envy the folks that can play this game to the full extent, it’s honestly not a bad game but I live in a country where nothing spawns and even in town it is quite dangerous to play.
I feel your pain bredren.. similar situation here. I recently got some of my friends and family into it though. I think it's about 9 or 10 of us so far, but hopefully they are able do the same thing I did.
Even those of us in better areas to play it, it kinda sucks. Unless they get with the times and realize they need some sort of lfg queue on monsters, it'll always be underwhelming. Very few people of its playerbase are going to have multiple people constantly just walking around playing it and most games like this have realized this now.
Please be safe, I know where you come from but with pokemon go I grew up in the country side of my state where nothing spawn and had to wait until I visited the city
Thanks for pointing out the Gyro feature. Its soo good with anything with shield that the wife uses gyro with sns. Also you can block with your back facing the enemy. Thats the big brain block
@@PauwerPlays ooh no doubt. I found it's easiest to rest the bottom of the phone up to my gut and keep the phone at a 35* tilt so I can use my high pokes smoothly when I flick the phone for em.
Mastering gyro with melee helps a lot with breaking parts that the Lock-On skill can't target, like the wings of monsters. It also opens up your builds a bit, since you no longer need to include the Kulu-Ya-Ku helmet, Rathian gloves, Black Diablos waist, or the recently added Coral Pukei-Pukei helmet in your builds. That said, Coral Pukei's helmet is currently the meta helmet for most weapons due to eventually getting Weakness Exploit 2 on top of Lock-On.
During dash stance, if monster start attacking, you can press sp skill and immediately become invincible when your character is in the middle of charging toward monster.
When it was first released, I thought it was just a clicking simulator. This is a great guide, I may actually consider making a lance build down the line now.
I don't know if this is outdated and I don't know if it's because my defence is so high, but I just run guard 2 on my set and I can take no chip damage or pushback from most well guarded attacks. Guard 3 is required for Zinogre's somersault to not push you back, though. Could be others in future, and the driftsmelting's a game changer now.
Offensive guard is easier to farm for. You want to go for perfect guards as well bc of chip damage so might as well add offensive guard for bonus attack
I knew I was missing a few things thanks man, does CB have perfect block? Still unlocking/levelling them up as they’re too weak right now for monsters around me. Sometimes I do wish a 2* would appear for practice sake
Iam running an ice lance build without offensive guard atm. Now iam debatting to switch out Barioth chest to Barroth for offensive guard 2 and ice attack 4 instead of 5 🤔. What would u recommend?
Elemental damage is more consistent. Unless you can perfect guard most the attacks, elemental is better. How many points in guard do you have with ice attack 5?
@@PauwerPlays with radoban head and boots for guard 3. And legi waist, Barrioth chest and Arms for ice Attack 5. Semms Like a solide build. Thx for the answer :)
@@TheElbjosh i did the math, youre losing a lot going down from ice attack 5 to 4. You are losing 150 ice attack and only gaining 15% with offensive guard lvl2. Its not worth it and better stick with ice attack 5 :)
I tested it. Even without guard skills, perfect guard negates all damage. So you can make purely offensive builds with elemental attack and offensive guard! Hope this helps!
So glad I came across this video thank you for such a great walk through on how to use the lance properly.
Glad it was helpful!

Great Videos. I am a lance user, though I still sometimes use bow and long sword in more challenging monster types.
Thanks man! I main lance most of the time but i use sns when walking around and not paying attention much to the game haha!

you can use fake gps in this case, take a good one thought if you don't want to be banned

Gyro has its benefits but very hard to play when you walk while hunting haha!

You can just tap on the top part of your screen in Gyro mode to make the Upward Thrust! no need to tilt
Yep that was a late addition to the lance haha! Great that they made that change
During dash stance, if monster start attacking, you can press sp skill and immediately become invincible when your character is in the middle of charging toward monster.

Great Video Buddy! Go on, helps me a lot

Lance is fun but you gotta watch out for chip damage haha!
@@PauwerPlays Yeah, watched your recent video on the subject after this. Guess I’ll just have to be good!
Quick tip, I just discovered that you can also jump during the special skill thrust
As a new player to Now, what armour set and lance would you say is best to start with? a progression guide of sorts.
Start with barroth and radobaan armor pieces then slowly progress into elemental sets :)
For fire lance build... is guard 2 enough tho? lance is heavier weapon than sns right so chip damage not as high as sns?
Guard level 3 is the only worth it investment. You wont get knocked back as much but you still take a lot of chip

can you proc resentment with perfect guard?
No perfect guard completely negates all damage
Also I feel like I get a up thrust if I tap the top half of the screen and a regular thrust at character level
That was a buff they made some time ago, before that you could only thrust upwards with gyro or lock on

I recorded this video in the same patch. Will update this if we get any changes
Would Firm foothold skill make a diffence?
It would reduce knock back but not chip damage. Investinv in Guard would still be better
