    Amazing job on the dungarees, 71 yrs young. I might even follow your lead. Just turned 60yrs so I now think it's time for fun so I will follow you. Yippee.

      You've got to stay young on the inside AND the outside for as long as you can Ann. Without looking too much like 'Mutton dressed as lamb' of course. 😂😂😂😘

    What fun you have been up to Michou! The pink corduroy with the embroidery was really pretty. I can see why you wanted to make some. You label is adorable! Yours turned out very nice. I think the 2nd pair is my favorite. TH-cam doesn't show things exactly right, I know. Especially colors. Super fun to watch you model them in your pink room.

    • @michoumakes
      @michoumakes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Joy yes I like pink corduroy embroidery as well. I can see it as being a bit of an eye catcher when you're out in a crowd. I thought I'd make the dungarees for to potter around in whilst in the garden and to wear when decorating. So really if they get dirty or if they get messed up I won't mind, especially at that price. I'll keep the best ones for the front garden because my neighbour across the road thinks I'm a really trendy dresser. 😂😂😂😂😘

You may love them or you may hate them. But knowing that they are fashionable at the moment if you did have to put them into the charity bag and certain that they would end up being sold. 👍😂😘

      Are lovely autumn colours arona just starting to turn. And the temperature currently isn't too bad which pleases the British population because we're all trying to reduce our heating in readiness for the rising gas and electricity bills that the British are going to be having to experience this winter. So anything that can keep my back warm sounds good to me. 👍😘

    it is really nice to see you so enthused about what you are doing. love it. some good bargains with the fabric. sadly Brexit has done us up like a kipper with import tax on any thing coming from the UK. a bit of fabric just shy of a long FQ at a cost of 1-50 with P&P just over a fiver. until the package got here and had to pay an extra 14.00 to release it. Hubby didnt know he thought it was from a family member so paid the post office. They look good on you so keep it up Girly. Love to you both. xxx

      Oh no that's a real bugger then isn't it? I do know what you mean because I was sending a package to France a couple of weeks back and it cost me £15 to send it and I was totally stunned to find them returning to me because is had the wrong identification code on it! After that I decided I wouldn't bother sending the parcel again since it had cost me £15 for nothing.
      I hope you're still keeping well in on the mend this might all this and that you are still managing to have lovely weather where you are. XXX

    Lucy & Yak dungarees are lovely. I have a pair in green needlecord. The only problem is that I’m an apple shape, so to get the fit on my torso I end up with lots of extra fabric on my thighs. Dungarees are on my Make List, but the thought is very intimidating - it hasn’t stopped me collecting patterns though, I have W&W Heydays, Yantas and Varzims!! Your Heydays are the nicest that I’ve seen, beautiful make. But I have made softshell dungarees which keep me toasty warm outside on playground duties!! I used Twig & Tale Rainhaven pattern for them, they’re very loose on the legs too, fine for their purpose but probably adding to my hesitancy.

    • @michoumakes
      @michoumakes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I remember that it was a little bit awkward sometimes trying to go to the toilet when you've got dungarees on. I do like these ones because they're quite baggy around the waist and I shouldn't have to be wiggling to get out of them. 😂
      Great to hear that you went to Amble I only hope you didn't go the week after we went when it did nothing but pour with rain. I really felt sorry for anyone who was staying in Amble that week.
      Too late now but the fabric shop is at the farthest end of the main street from the harbour and on the left hand side as you walk that way. 😉😘

    Love, love, love your dungarees. They look amazing on you. Would they go well in corduroy do you think?

    • @michoumakes
      @michoumakes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Heidi, dungarees were often made in corduroy and they are still very fashionable. When I was in my younger years I made quite a few corduroy trousers and I loved them. The only downside that I had was that because my legs weren't thin, then when I walked my trouser inside legs would rub together. And because corduroy is made of ridges, it used to make a funny noise as I walked. And it often wore the Velvet part of the inner legs away. Not a major problem but I just meant that you would get a bare patch after a while if you wore them regularly. Also when you are sewing with corduroy you have to make sure that the pile goes downwards on both the front and the back otherwise it won't look good. This usually means that you need to have more fabric because you can't turn the pattern pieces the other way. I hope that helps. XXX

    • @sewlovemydogs

      @@michoumakes are yes you’d need to treat the fabric the same as a print and make sure it wasn’t upside down, very good advice. Thank you. 🌹

  • @Angela10226
    @Angela10226 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Are you not able to buy 1/2 metre that you could get 21/2 instead so you don't have to patch it? What happens to that label in the wash? No way could I wear something like that now, I did when I was young but not in 70s personal thing. All the ones that I liked were the ones you would find boring I'm not looking for attention the way you say you love when people look at what you're wearing. As they say "you do you".

    • @michoumakes
      @michoumakes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately they only do metres and no half metres. And to be honest I have no plans to party in them so jigsawing that first pair suited me. Plus I only had to do that in the first pair. Narrowing the legs allowed much more room for all pattern pieces. I intend to use these dungarees mainly for decorating and gardening. Although I would keep the trendier ones for when doing front garden work. The label is enamelled and heat and water resistant. I shall just have to see how they weather regular washing. 😉

      @@michoumakes I see, I know that's the only time I wear mine is in the garden. I should have known you wouldn't make something that wouldn't last in the wash.
